Hello friends,
is it possible to install xposed framework on LG G6 running Oreo? If yes, is there a guide topic for how to do it?
I especially want xposed framework to use Youtube Background Playback modification. Is there a way to run youtube in background without xposed framework? Thanks for your answers.

Is it working on oreo? Is there an "How-to-topic" for installing magisk?
Download the latest version of iytbp & microg. No root required and its much better than any xposed mod I've ever used to emulate the same result (background playback etc)
Just Google: iytbp xda

Installing Oreo now, ill test it myself and report back with results, but it appears it is working... (https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/how-to/lg-g6-stock-oreo-root-xposed-t3795323/page2)
Edit: Cant install without stock recovery, cant find stock recovery.... attempting to download kdz and extract it...
Edit 2: Thanks Zefie, dirty flashed v20a zip, mostly everything working!
I installed xposed magisk module and xposed works perfectly.
cpu frequencies get locked for me if i install xposed, it only goes to 1500Mhz so it gets very laggy, when i unistall xposed it takes a while, but get's back to full power in a cuple of minutes

Can confirm, Xpsoed framework works fine for me aswell (SDK 26 from Magisk modules), some issues with FSBI, but seems to be on the apps end, everything else seems to works fine (Adaway for youtube, Dimensions Changer, XPrivacy Lua, and Xstana), not having problems with locked cpu clocks as mentioned.
So is there a topic for how to install magisk and xposed framework on our devices? I don't want to damage my LG G6 :/

Its pretty simple, (I believe the process is the same between H870 and US997).
Install magisk (if you dont have it already its just a matter of flashing the Magisk V16.0 zip in TWRP or similar recovery).
Go to 'downloads' tab in magisk, search for 'Xpsoed'.
Install the one by rovo89 titled "Xposed Framework (SDK 26)". *Note* I have tried the version that is supposed to work on multiple sdks, it installs with no issue but no apps can connect the the framework...
Reboot
Open Xposed Installer app (if not installed, just search for DVDandroid's Xposed Installer
Done!
I tried this on my recently flashed LG G6 Oreo 8.00 and the phone took ages to start up and basically froze. It was quite laggy so I uninstalled it within Magisk

Yes, you need install Xposedbridge first. How?:
1. Install this APK , open it and follow the images attached.
Please note that this write up is based on the assumption that you have a rooted after updating firmware to 7.1.1 and also unlocked bootloader
On several ocassions I was tempted to take firmware upgrade to Anroid 7.1.1 but thinking of missing xposed, I was delaying it. Finally I decided to take the firmware update mainly because of several goodness packed in Android 7.1.1. Finally I updated my device with Android 7.1.1 and took following alternatives to enjoy the benefits that I was enjoying with xposed.
1. I hate softkeys and also wanting to always keep status bar immersive. Xposed immersive module was doing the job. I achieved the same wihtout xposed as below,
Added a line in build.prop qemu.hw.mainkeys=1, and restart phone hides navbar permenantly. Installed Tile Root to hide status bar and the good thing about this this app is that it doesn't loose notification pull down option. Once installed it will be seen in Quick settings as it doesn't have launcher. Using Quick settings edit, you can being the immersive button and use it to go immersive. We need Pie Control to manage the absence of navbar.[/URL]
2. YouTube background playback was possible with the help of xposed module. I managed the same screen off playback as below,
Installed OG YouTube which is a moded version of official YouTube. This has the ability to play YouTube in the background. You can search yourself to find this modded app
3. Magisk work for 7.1.1 hence if anyone wants to use Android Pay it is still possible
If anyone wants to find alternative for the xposed module that were in use until MM, please post here. We can collectively find a best possible options.
Xposed resurrection Remix 7.1.1?

No xposed framework for Android 7.1.1 yet. I understood from xposed author that it is still in progress.

YouTube ads can be filtered using xposed module YouTube Adaway. I am Adguard to do this job and selected HTTPS filtering instead of VPN option. It works better now. I can enjoy YouTube videos without ads which use to appear every 15min.
I miss some module that allowed to swipe up and down in the official youtube app for changing volume

I am using adguard for two weeks now and do not see any issue. Also, adguard is helping to protect our privacy too.
Is there a working Xposed framework that can be used with the OP5? I'm coming from the LG V10 and have been using Xposed framework with the G3/G4 tweaksbox in Xposed which was awesome for moding everything about system (getting date on status bar, etc.). Is there anything like that for OP5 or OP in general?

Xposed has nothing to do with certain phones. Unless Xposed is released for Nougat, which doens't look like it's going to happen, you'd have to downgrade to a MM ROM to used Xposed on the OP5. Short answer, no.

Ok, thank you. But we do have Magisk, which I thought was based on Xposed? Are there mods through Magisk similar to the Xposed tweaks I mentioned that work on OP5? I see a bunch of listed modules in Magisk Manager, but none that are system level mods.

Magisk is the root management part of the equation and it does have some modules, but nothing near what Xposed offered. Someone more involved would have to speak to the exact reason (I suspect xposed hooks into many more aspects of /system than Magisk does, or has the ability to do), but it does offer some functionality. The modules you mentioned aren't likely going to be offered though.
Official Xposed for nougat has been released

I'm running xXx 3.8 with magisk 14.2 and installed Xposed with no issues
I need to hide root for one specific app. I tried "hide my root" with latest superSU and then also magisk hide, but none of them worked. It seems they need kernel above 3.4 to work. Any chance I can do this?

Thanks, if I use it the app crashes when I launch it. I'll try to ask in RootCloak forum.
Now that xposed has arrived for Oreo share which xda approved modules you have tested and I'll create a working/non working list. Thanks.
All xposed talk is welcome. Off topic is ok as well. ?

I got this to work. I installed the framework via Magisk, and then I used the Xposed APK installer found in the Magisk thread.
It installs fine through Magisk on the XL 2, just make sure you have the correct Xposed Installer version installed before you install Xposed through Magisk.

The one in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268
It's installed and says it's active, but also says it's not compatible with the architecture. I can enable modules, but none of the few I have right now I've really tested, so I'm not sure if they're actually working.

If you installed systemless xposed then you need the material xposed to be working if i am not wrong

Well, I'll get things started and say that "Lockscreen Mods" seems to kind of work; I'm just unable to set custom icons. Double tap to sleep on the lockscreen does work.
X Screen Stabilizer also appears to work just fine.
Does anyone know if the SnapTools Xposed module works? I haven't had a chance to even set my 2 XL up just yet otherwise I would have tested myself.
Let me know if anyone has tried it! :good:

The description for the Xposed Magisk module said to install topjohnwu's specific modified version of the material installer:
Please install my modified XposedInstaller(3.1.4) to properly detect Systemless Xposed. The APK is signed by my personal key, you might need to uninstall other versions before installing mine.

It seems that if you install Xposed before installing this APK, it won't detect Xposed properly, but installing the APK before installing Xposed seems to work.
This is only if you're installing through Magisk, as I haven't tried installing it conventionally through TWRP.
I was able to install by installing the xposed app then letting the app download and install the framework.

What steps did you take to get it working? I haven't used it before, so it could very well just be user error. I'd like to confirm if it does work.
Snap Tools works for me too
Where do I find snaptools? Its not showing up in the closed app when I search it
Does installing this on Oreo 8.1 Pixel 2s break the SafetyNet (Android pay, banking apps, and etc)?
