So, I have a us996 V20, rooted. I see that Instagram is a system app. I cannot seem to be able to delete it as is or after I make it a non-system app. Once I thought I accomplished it, but when i went to reinstall it from the app store, the original version reinstalled, like there was some remnant still of the original.
How can I totally delete Instagram?
Thanks

new xperia arc user, successfully unlocked bootloader and rooted phone, installed titanium backup and busybox, and removed some preinstalled apps, however whatsapp still showing as being installed , even though titanium no longer showing it as listed, any ideas. if i click on app, it launches as normal?
That happens sometimes and you have to do it manually by going into system apps and remove it. Reason, I am not sure.
thanks, sorted it be reinstalling from marketplace then uninstalling again with titanium, after reboot its successfully gone
i have this kind of prob on others apps also..

Hello,
I was wondering if it was possible to remove useless APKs like Facebook and Quickoffice before flashing the Amazon update.zip so that the apps wouldn't be there. If I did that, would I have to resign the zip file or should it still work? Thanks!
Why bother, just install it, and with root, remove what you don't want.
Or, freeze them with Titanium backup. That way they're not gone for good, in case you ever really want them back. What's useless now may not be useless forever.
Rather than delete them or have another app running to freeze them just rename the .apk to .bak. That way you still have them if you need them but they will not run at all, I've seen quite a few times where TiBu supposedly freezes an app but it will still end up running.
other than freezing apps (they're still there) if you delete them you can just reflash the ROM with everything else.
If your looking to use amazon stuff..careful what you delete. About 15 of those apps are tied together in a signature form...one missing and you can't use amazon video. There's a thread around here..best one I have seen is by paulobrien.
All I wanted to remove was quickoffice and facebook, nothing else would be touched

You should be fine with those, I would still rename them and once you see that things are still working fine after a reboot go ahead and delete them.
Hi guys. So after finding this apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340858), my friend installed this on his Sprint Galaxy s4 and 1) this didn't work for him (random glitches, force closes for whatever reason), and 2) his touchwiz gallery no longer works. (It just shows a black screen, and doesn't recognize any photos on his device. Using a file manager, I've found that everything is still there, though.) I've tried uninstalling the photosphere gallery app, clearing defaults, and rebooting, but no luck so far. I've also cleared cache for the touchwiz gallery app. I've been trying to find the touchwiz gallery apk from the new s4 to try and reinstall it, but haven't been able to dig it up. His phone isn't rooted, and he has no desire to change that. Any suggestions, guys? Thanks in advance!
Since upgrading to 4.3, snapchat has not been able to load videos. it just keeps refreshing at "tap to load" i also noticed that when attempting to record video, the screen freezes until you lift your finger, then snapchat treats it like a picture.. so i cannot record or send videos either.
anyone else encounter this? fyi, i also installed the moto x camera and am using the banks gapps with photosphere add on. this problem is persistent in two different jss 4.3 aosp roms. i tried clearing app data, uninstalling, reinstall, no change.
titanium backup snapchat
im going to bump this issue because i have some thoughts on what might be the issue..
titanium restore.. there was an incompatibility with 4.3 when 4.3 was released. of course i had flashed 4.3 prior to titanium app update and used it to restore snapchat. this is when the no video problem started.
my hypothesis is this.. snapchat needs to store your videos locally on the phone before viewing, then deletes it after viewing. do you think that when titanium restored the app, it restored it with incorrect internal storage mapping? if snapchat can't access internal storage, that would explain why it cant load or record videos.
now, ive uninstalled and reinstalled snapchat before with no luck.. might that be because snapchat leaves bits and pieces of itself in the phone therefore never really has a fresh install?
if this is the case, how can i go about hunting down every last bit of snapchat?

I'm able to view videos fine, but I'm having the same problem recording videos. One thing I've noticed, if I flash a new rom [complete wipe] I can record videos fine for a few hours, but after that it starts acting up again [recording, but then only saving the first frame and sending only a picture.]
Also, I should note I'm on a Galaxy S3, noticed this issue on Cyanogenmod [4.2+] and ParanoidAndroid [4.2+], haven't tried stock. I'll reply here if I figure it out, let me know if you have any results too!

I did find a solution. I uninstalled Snapchat then went into twrp recovery and deleted the folder associated with it located at data/media/android/data/*snapchat*
Reboot and reinstall Snapchat. That folder will be recreated... Correctly.. With what I believe to be the right permissions.
If you want to try something else first try the app "fix permissions" and run it on Snapchat. Maybe that will fix the permissions of the folder.
Lastly there is a zip you can flash that fixes all permissions on your internal storage to proactively fix this issue for any other app. Search for fix internal storage permissions. The thread should come up.

Thanks. I boot to TWRP 2.6.x, File Manager, use chmod on snapchat folder and subfolders, reboot and the video record works. This was on Supernexus 4.3 on T-Mobile Galaxy S2 T989.

I'm a little slow, what is chmod? I tried finding the snapchat folder to delete after unistall, but could not. I'm flashing a new rom now coincidentally so I'm hoping snapchat will just work after that... otherwise I might try this fix permissions app. I would really like to be able to send video snaps. Seems like it should be an easy enough thing....
Bump
Also having this problem. I installed Cyanogenmod 10.2 on my GS3, used titanium backup. Ended up reverting to my nandroid backup a few hours later, and now my snapchat cannot record videos, look at videos, OR see "My Story" posts (if i click on them, it does a quick load, but doesn't open)
I read through this thread, but cannot figure out how to delete the SnapChat folder in recovery mode. I tried deleting it in the TWRP file manager, and it SAYS it deleted it, but it is still there. Any help please?
same problem

Try clearing data on the gallery app and rebooting and then give it a shot
Also have you tried another gallery app to see if same behavior? I use simple gallery.

Thanks for your kind reply bro, earlier i have used "quick pic" gallery app and it was working fine without any issue, actually i have ls997 which is Sprint V20 device, it is without so many Lg stock apps device (i don't know why?) i have download and install some lg stock apps manually, Gallery is one of them, everything working fine except this deleting issue and "locked file" option, app always crash when i tap Locked file.. I don't understand why these all things happening.. ?
@NumairAdil
Only thing I can think would be the Sprint factor. There was a thread earlier on here somewhere about trying to get the LG music app on to the Sprint variant and I remember they were having issues in that it was more complicated than just taking the APK and putting it in system and fixing permissions. Where did you get LG gallery APK from? Does it come with official firmware from Sprint or did you have to take it from somewhere?

Yes you are right bro, Sprint variant have issues to install lg apps manually, but earlier i found a practical and most of time successful solution here at xda forums, mostly lg apps can install with a little tweaking by "Apk Editor" app,
In my V20 music app and fm radio are installed and working fine with these tweaks, even Gallery app working fine except that particular deleting issue, Email can install by apk editor tweaks but Exchange activesync restricted by this Bul**** compamy Sprint ?
I don't know why Sprint did all of these bul**** things, they almost ruined the potentials of a Lg device, what the hell they are think i don't understand,
Anyway i got these apps by a flashable lg G6 Rom which is oreo compatible stock rom, my phone updated to oreo and most of lg apps which i installed manually earlier when i was on Nouget were crashed due to non compatibility with oreo, so i download a new stock oreo rom and extract my required apps from that rom's system image,
But the important thing to share is that Gallery was showing the same issues when i was on Nouget, so this is the core misbehaving issue by Gallery app whatever it was on Nouget or now with oreo.. ?
