LG G6 H872 Always-on Display stopped working after restart? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

So for the first time since i got my G6 i decided to fiddle around with AOD. And honestly i liked it. The fact i can see the time, notifications and how well proximity sensors worked was convenient. But it was very short lived. I restarted my phone the next day and it stopped working immediately.....The screen is completely black so it seems completely dead.
What i have tried:
Reboot phone
Turn AOD on and off
Clear data and cache for AOD in system app
If you have any other suggestions it would be much appreciated .

Lollipop Big Issue

Hi everyone, i'd like to post my experience with Android Lollipop on my GS5 which is awesome except that since the first day i have the last Lollipop update ( ....L9) my heart rate sensor is always ON . Yep, if the screen is on, even in the lock screen mode, the HR sensor is always ON and if i touch with my finger the sensor, the red light turns on. The big problem is if i place my phone on the table, the red light will be always on. I've noticed that the red light remains turned on the time S Health takes to measure the heartbeat and then it turns off for like 2 mins then turn back on and the problem starts again. I've tried to kill S Health process and Health Service process, but nothing.
It really makes me annoyed.
Thanks everyone.
Tried a factory reset after updating to Lollipop?, heard a few people suggest that it fixes issues with left over trash files from KK
After 2 days trying to figure out and making a lot of factory reset, i found a partial solution ( because i like the app ). The problem is Google Fit. When it is installed on the phone, i don't know why it keeps the proximity sensor of the Heart Rate always on, when the screen is turned on. Disinstalling Google Fit and wiping the cache app, as i said, i solved the problem.

I have the same problem, but i solved it with a disable of activity detection in google fit and a reboot.
It sucks since i have a smartwatch, but i don't want to burn out the heartrate monitor.
Strange Ive heard a few people saying the HR sensor is stuck permanently on, not had that problem this end
Just noticed the same issue with the red light from the heart rate sensor. It was lit when I put down my S5 when the screen was on, will go out as soon as the screen goes black. I do have Google Fit installed, going to disable that next.
Had the same issue with the heartbeat sensor turning on. Turned off Motion Detection in Google Fit and rebooted - issue resolved. Thanks for the tip

Always On Display keeps whole screen backlit

This started about 2 months ago, but the Always on Display and night clock features of my s7 (US T-Mobile variant) keep the entire screen backlit instead of just the active pixels. Edge notifications does not do this, and if activated turns the screen black until control returns to the AOD/Night clock app.
I have tried searching, I have tried clearing the data and even reverting the AOD Service back to its factory version.
Other threads only point to this being a scarce Galaxy s6 issue with their night clock, and even factory resets / firmware flashes didn't seem to fix it.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
i have the same issue. did you find a solution yet? i tried my local support but the cant fix it
I returned mine for exactly the same issue, and Samsung said deffective screen and replaced it, one week later it's working again like the first day.

Help with troubleshooting - bootloop, calls restarting phone, wifi won't turn on

I've been having some problems with my Galaxy S5 recently after ~2 years and some change of owning it. I'm stock rooted on the original ANCG KitKat version.
The problem: If I power off my phone, it will cause it to go into a bootloop, not going past the first screen (Samsung Galaxy S5, powered by android). I haven't found a reliable way to fix it from the loop, but I usually just remove the battery, wait, and try again until somehow it just works and boots up. This is extremely problematic because sometimes my battery runs out and after charging I'll have to go through this game of chance again until my phone works.
The next problem also adds to this frustration as well. When I attempt to pick up a call, my phone will sometimes just not work and restart itself. This leads to lots of confusion and I can't call them back for some time because the phone is stuck in a bootloop.
In the few times that I do get my phone to actually boot up, everything works fine except sometimes my Wifi just doesn't work. It gets stuck on "turning on" where the notification drawer quick setting icon is dim green and never gets to the turned on full green state, eventually just turning itself off (no green color).
I haven't done a factory reset or any real troubleshooting yet, as I'm a bit worried I won't even be able to boot up the phone and I don't have the time yet to spend a full day fixing it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
The calling problem may be caused by the google dialer app not being set as the the default phone app but as for the other issues i have no idea a factory reset is a good start though
unfortunately I had the same problem but I have marshmallow but the factory reset helped with the not booting up and see a big difference with the battery

Bad fingerprint sensor?

I just got an LG G6, and instantly started having problems with the fingerprint sensor. It keeps getting "dirty" and will not scan my fingerprint 98% of the time.
I did not have that issue with my LG G5, so it is very confusing to me.

No problem with mine. It is actually the best fingerprint sensor I have ever used (s7, note7, iPhone 7). Sounds like a defective unit.
Mine is working perfectly, works 100% every time unless if I miss place my finger.
I've used mine with wet fingers. Dirty fingers from making pizza. Weird but yeah even with pizza dough on my hands it worked fine. I use mine upside down even with no issues
No issues here. I have 3 fingers/prints set up so far and all work flawlessly.
You should try re-entering your prints. When you enter them keep your head still and steady when pressing. I can barely touch mine and it registers every single time. What's awesome is I can use it to open my investment & work apps.

Mine works great. Try clearing your cache in recovery before calling it defective. Thats what i had to do with my jank S7 Active.

I tried this on my new V20 and the very initial results indicate it is right on the money. Thank you for this and I don't know why I didn't think of it myself. I suppose if it doesn't prove to hold, then I'm within my swap period, having the phone only 3 days now.
BTW - I initially scanned my fingerprint with the protective tape over the scanner, and despite re-scanning my prints into the security database, I wonder if that may have set up some initial cached data.

Fixed Fingerprint sensor LG G6 Not Workin
Disable Android's Device Administrator. Some how it asked me to set up a PIN, so after my finger was scanned I had to also enter the PIN
My fingerprint sensor used to work great, however it started prompting me that it couldn't read the fingerprint. I would restart the phone and most of the time that fixed it. Then, it got progressively worse. I would get three separate prompts that the "fingerprint sensor was not working" every time I would unlock my phone. Very annoying. Sometimes the setting for the fingerprint sensor would just straight up disappear. I decided to factory restore the phone, as I was having wifi and internet issues as well. Now, after multiple restarts, the sensor is not even recognized by the phone. No prompts and no fingerprint settings. Also the internet issue seems to have gotten worse. Really upset with this, as this phone is a replacement for my defective LG V10.
Edit: Just tested the fingerprint sensor hardware in Setting>General>Smart Cleaning>Test Hardware. It says "Not Responding. Contact a service center."
Fingerprint sensor works more of the time but suddenly it stops functioning!
Sometimes It does not recognise the fingerprint and, in the worst case, it totally stops to work like it does not exist or not connected; no life signal from it!!
In the first case I have to unlock with pin code otherwise I have to restart the device!
This is one of the reasons because I will never buy an LG!!

j5(6) turns off by itself

Hi everyone, if you have this problem of a Samsung galaxy J5(6) turning itself off at any given moment, I think that I can help. I bought this phone in December 2016. Great phone, quite easy to root, and reliable until it started turning itself off in early 2021. At first, I would turn it back on, and it would be o.k. for a while. Then this annoying situation became more and more frequent. I read a lot of tips that could help on the web, like cleaning cache, reset the phone, change the battery, and re-install the rom via twrp, but nothing worked out.
Starting in safe mode did not help either. I uninstalled apps, reinstalled apps, turned my vpn off, nada.
I think a lot when I rest, and once a new idea came up. I installed the app ''BLACK SCREEN'' , ran it, so that the screen would be totally black, and since then (5 days and counting), the phone never went off by itself.
The launcher is still on as well as any apps that were opened, but they are invisible until you reset the screen to its normal state. The phone still can receive calls an turn on the screen when it rings. The battery raised its available time remaining by more than 50%. Amazing. It really worked for me, if you have this problem of your J5(6) turning off at any moment by itself, give it a try.
Thanks
