Make sure you’ve backed up all of your IMPORTANT DATA before downgrading
I am not responsible for bricked devices and dead SD cards. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
First and foremost, please install ZenFone 3 Drivers via Device Manager (Download drivers on ASUS Support Website)
1) Download RAW firmware here:
ZC553KL:
2) Download ASUS Flash Tool here:
3) Flash the firmware via ASUS Flash Tool by entering FASTBOOT MODE (Power Button + Volume Up) & DO NOT WIPE DATA!
4) Wait for 5-10 minutes
5) After downgrading, please wipe data/cache via recovery mode (Power Button + Volume Down)
Congratulations, you've downgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow

To restore IMEI flash N-HOLOS.bin from Nougat raw firmware.
After flashing N-HOLOS.bin IMEI will be restored but video recording will stop working. To fix that also lash adspso.bin from Nougat firmware
in fastboot: flash dsp adspso.bin. It worked for me.

First of all, thanks for your reply.
I tried what you told and the stock recovery comes up with the software install failed thing. No matter , How many times I flash twrp, the stock recovery comes up. I tried placing the B380 UPDATE.APP in the dload folder of the sdcard. Tried the same thing with nougat UPDATE.APP. Both times it says software install failed.
Did factory reset again and ahter the message your device is booting, the screen goes blank but stays on.
@gm007, I tried the stock recovery you posted but same result. How come I don't have factory reset? Does it has something to do with being unlocked.
EDITkay, by luck or something I got the WIPE data and cache option. I did both of them, But now it's stuck at your device is booting now.
If you were in EMUI 5.0, welcome to the club, until today I could not revert to 4.1 or 4.0, all I could do was make 5.0 usable. If so, you will have to use the boot, recovery, recovery2 and emui 5.0 system on the fastboot and then use the dload with the rom that "attached" your phone. I'm on AL10C17B523 and I can not reverse it at all, I've already accepted my burden.

If TWRP for EMUI 5 arrives then we can do something.
So is there something I can do? I copied the UPDATE.APP file of B552 firmware into the dload folder of the sd card and Did the dload update thing. It says incompatible software - installation failed. I think I can fix this, Just need some instructions.
I successfully downgraded to Kangvip b368. The procedure was as follows
First of all make sure you have nougat stock recovery .
Then download stock B320 , extract the update.app and put in the dload folder on the sd card.
Next do the dload update by pressing the 3 buttons.
Hopefully it will complete to 100%
After that do a factory reset. U may find that your bootloader is locked again. So unlock it, flash twrp and u r good to go. Flash Kangvip b368 through twrp and that's it.
Kindly Mark this thread as solved.

P9 Lite bricked

Hello,
I was on B336 and wanted to root it. All good, I followed the steps, and accidentally wiped cache&dalvik... Bootloop. Then I tried to downgrade to MM... No success... After that, something told me to wipe system, data, Dalvik, cache, everything except for Internal Storage, phone storage... I tried then to flash EMUI 5 beta 336... It didn't work. I tried then to flash Meticulus TWRP instead of Revolution TWRP... It did not work... I tried to dload MM stock, it did not work...
I'm stuck with:
-No OS
-Revolution TWRP
-Meticulus TWRP doesn't boot
Is there anything I can try to get it booting or I can throw the phone into the garbage bin?
I even tried to flash Meticulus TWRP with the RevolutionRecovery (I know, I know) and of course it did not work...
If you are with no OS

I don't remember the exact order (yes, you must flash them in a specific order)

Found the order:
- Fastboot flash boot boot.img
- Fastboot flash system system.img
- Fastboot flash cust cust.img
But I can't understand the part about app extractor. Can you explain please?
There is an app called app extractor (you can easily find here in the forums)
You put your Update.app file (the one you should put on the dload folder) and the app extract you these files
After you flash them via adb
I had your problem and solved using this
(Sorry for my english)
@diorenzo Ok, I got it, I extract from the .APP file with Huawei Update Extractor. What should I do next?

Tried two times with no success... I'll try switching ports.
Sounds similar to what I had. Take a look here.
The solution in brief was:
1. Go into bootloader to flash recovery (I used Revolution Recovery)
2. In recovery, flash OEM info.
3. Then used the 3-button method to install stock version for the appropriate model (which I could see from OEM info).
4. Unlocked bootloader, triggering a factory reset. (I was stuck in infinite boot before this point.)

[FIX] Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE550KL Marshmallow update problem, failed to mount /asdf

I have good experience with other phones but this is my first time working with ZE550KL.
So I took my uncle's phone and he asked me to update his phone to the latest firmware to get the VoLTE feature.
He is was on ZE550KL_WW_21.40.1220.1708 which is Marshmallow of the ZEN UI.
I have downloaded the latest firmware from the ASUS website but I couldn't update it because the recovery which came with the marshmallow update is broken.
These are the errors I got

Here is what I did, and hope this works for everyone.
Hoping that you already went and searched about the problem over the internet.
These are the things you need to download :
ADB and fastboot
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0aDjdU4gTwZZW1HUHhqWnEteXM/view
Recovery image file
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0aDjdU4gTwZa1MyUmVPN3BhQjQ
Latest firmware:
https://www.asus.com/in/support/Download/39/1/0/22/ZROQURlyupei1ZQz/32/
1. Download the adb and fastboot drivers. Download the latest firmware and copy it onto your internal storage.
2. Boot into the bootloader.
3. Download the recovery image and paste it into the adb folder.
4. Now type the following command.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
5. This step is very important.
Now, all you have to do is hold the power button and the volume down button to boot into the installed recovery.
Remember that if you restart your phone after step 4, your old recovery(which does not work) will still be there.
6. Now select update from sdcard and select the zip file of the latest firmware you downloaded.
7. It will take at least 10 minutes to install, don't panic if you think the screen froze.
I hope this solves the issues many users are facing.
Feel free to ask questions, I will be very happy to answer.
The recovery we installed is the recovery of Android Lollipop version of the Zen UI ROM.
Thanks. It worked. The only difference is that after flashing the old recovery, my SD card was showing blank. So i selected the adb sideload option and flashed the new build.. Thanks for your guide.
Thanks but few doubts remain. The recovery you used is from Lollipop`s 1.17.40.1503 right?
Can we not do this by installing a temporary recovery image (twrp)?
I have also read elsewhere ( https://devs-lab.com/e-unable-to-mount-asdf-recovery-error-solved.html ) that you would need the boot image too. But your instructions are way too easier and easy to follow. Why don't you use boot image?
If we are using the boot image then which version of it should we use?

Before I tried any of this... First thing I did was boot TWRP and install the lastest firmware.
But I couldn't do so because TWRP doesn't let you flash .img files.
And for the best result it is always better for you to use the official recovery to flash an official firmware.
Because ASUS f***ed up, I needed to install the previous version of the recovery to flash the firmware.
And I'm very happy that my guide worked for you.
Don't forget to give thanks.
I haven't tried it yet. So you didn't tamper with boot.img at all. Right?
Also as previously asked what's the build number from which you extracted the recovery.img? Is it from .1503?
My current build is .1708 same as what you worked on. And will data get erased during this process?
How can I boot into the bootloader? is it by unlocking it? or is there any other non-invasive way?
Update: I installed as per your instructions. Device shows "Optimizing app 5 of 51".
Thank you.
Thank you
Thank you sir, this helped me a lot.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 2014811 bricked after updating SuperSu binary in recovery?

I'm not rly good with electronics etc, my phone came with root access permissions via Security MIUI app so I installed SuperSu to manage it easier (MIUI app reqiured to manually check each app to allow access), no custom ROM or anything installed, the way it happened was
1. updated supersu from google play
2. entered supersu app,it asked me to update su binary
3. I clicked yes through recovery
4. it rebooted and got bootlooped.
It's stuck at the "mi.com" screen when turning on, can't go into recovery, fastboot mode only shows an image of Miui mascot without any fastboot options. I've followed some tutorials online and got the thing below from minimal adb.

It's stuck at the "mi.com" screen when turning on, can't go into recovery, fastboot mode only shows an image of Miui mascot without any fastboot options. I've followed some tutorials online and got the thing below from minimal adb.

Fastboot will show that android icon only.
No fastboot options will be available there.
Now you need to perform some steps to recover your device..
Note - Your data will be wiped. Also, remove memory card (if any).
Now let's start the process -:
Download MIUI Fastboot ROM file.
Here's the link..
1GB RAM model - http://update.miui.com/updates/v1/fullromdownload.php?d=wt88047_global&b=F&r=global&n=
2GB RAM model - http://update.miui.com/updates/v1/fullromdownload.php?d=wt88047_pro_global&b=F&r=global&n=
Also extract this file and put in C Drive.
Now turn your PC on..
And install latest Mi flash tool. http://api.bbs.miui.com/url/MiFlash
Turn your device off. By pulling battery. (Assuming that your device is in bootloop).
Go to fastboot mode (power + volume down)
Now turn your PC on.
Open Mi flash tool.
Connect your device.
Click on refresh button in flash tool.
Now, it will show some random numbers. (This is your device).
Now, select your ROM fastboot file which you downloaded and extracted.
After that, choose 'flash all' and click Flash..
It will take some time.
After that your device will be rebooted.
Voila! Your device is back to life!
