From what I gather from the thread the zm500 version of twrp also works for z500kl. I cannot confirm this but an individual there suggests it is possible as does the creator of this version of twrp.

and here I've hard time unlocking bootloader.. tried many unlocking apks.. none of them wants to install.

Hello, do you know if it can be rooted? I'd like to install the latest version of Android on my Z500KL...
Thank you.

I'm trying... I'stuck with magisk manager and patched boot.img without fastboot as it doesnt has unlocked bootloader... looking for a twrp to install boot.img but hard to find one.

Any news for this?

Nope

Any news for this? Trying to bypass google authentification, because forgot all credentials. Already have the firmware but need more info about TWRP for this model Asus ZenPad 3S 10 Z500K. Want to reinstall original firmware UL-ASUS_P00I-WW-5.4.6.0.

Nope they'll never allow bootloader unlock in this model.. and never update anymore I presume.. I think asus flashtool will help.. (I hope.)

any progress in this matter? would like to go for a custom rom,too

Just posted this on another thread about unlocking and custom ROM for this tab, hopefully I can get an answer here too and retire this tab if no progress.
#########
Looks like nothing has happened here in a while. Am hoping for an update though if some progress has been made. I can't even unlock the bootloader so far... never mind find a ROM that works on it!
The reason I'm here is, I now find that even the ASUS apps are no longer supported on Android 7 (not that I used the ASUS apps much), but still... I looked on the firmware page and was really saddened by the fact that the JP version (which I have) had only 4 months of support (ie date from first firmware and last firmware is only 4 months apart...). For the WW version, it was 6 months. This is really a complete joke... It's a real pity because the hardware is not bad at all, and it is one of the last 4:3 screen ratio tablets. It's terrible to think that this thing has not had even security updates for the last 5 years, so unless I can get a custom ROM on there, then I think I'm going to have to look elsewhere for something.

Flash Chinese Rom on Honor 7EU

Hi to all,
Ive been reading a lot this forum, and i find the chinese version more complete, so my question is simple.
¿is it possible to flash a chinese rom? I like chinese features, and i read it gets more updates.
My only worries are warranty and to lose european radio bands.
Any help?
Give it a try and let us know how you get on....;0)
Thanks for your message sheridan2000,
I'm a newie, until now I only had a nexus 4, wich have a huge community, I don't know how to do if for this new phone I just received, and I'm worried about the warranty, about brick if and if is possible get back to EU flash rom.
My abilities are limited, and with my lack of knowledge I feel is too risky.
If some one with experience can bring some information would be great.
Regards,
Just kidding fella, think at this early stage in developement best not to flash any roms not intended for the EU version as may mess up your phone. When we get a fully working ROOT and TWRP then there will be some safety in doing so....

Agree with him! When we get a stable and well working custom recovery, I think people will mod the Honor 7 more.
Any why do you want the chinese version? I tried a chinese MIUI rom on my Honor 6, and the all the chinese stuff drove me crazy so I had to roll back to a normal EU rom...

Hi!
I feel like chinese rom is more "updated" I think european version is more "conservative" as they might try to secure the user experience. Chinese rom gets much more updates, Ive read something about huawei idchanger; Chinese rom also have more options like recording call, navigation shortcuts, youtube bloat window and download...
In nexus we could chose wich part of the rom we would like to flash, is that posible in this huawei? What I have thought is what about flash the Chinese rom, without flash the radio baseband in order to keep the compatibility with european LTE bands. Any idea??

No way to get back to european firmware. But was probably because officallollipop was not out yet. More hassle than it was worth. Voided warrenty also. DO NOT ATTEMPT
Thank you for your usefull feedback.
I hope soon someone finds a safe way to run and revert back this kind of test.

One question: you had the complete nandroid backup and you couldn't flashed it after experimenting with the Chinese ROM over EU? How far did you get then or where did you stuck when trying to reverse?
I never had EU Honor 7, but my personal opinion is that before playing with different roms, you should be perfectly aware what are you doing and what do you want to achieve. Changing hardware is out of the question and probably is the same with drivers. At least to the point when a real custom rom appears. As I mentioned there are some modifications of Chinese roms already available as a flashable zip, which don't alternate baseband or kernel in general, but they are customized to particular roms. Flashing any of them on EU rom could be safe only if you can get back in the case anything goes wrong. Otherwise, if you just need a particular system application, you can always try to push it to the system with appropriate file manager and stay safe as long as you have the nandroid backup.
Nandroid backup did not work through twrp.
Chinese rom was fine but was a developer edition.
Phone can not go back to kitkat from chinese lollipop.
Tried offical downgrade package. Did not work.
Tried back up many times. Did not work.
Chinese emui site takes hours to load and most of the time fails through multiple browsers.
Dont waste your life.
I was still in my 14 day return so exhange by my network to honor 7
Never messing with a huawei phone again where there is little to no support
i had tried chinese rom PLK-U00 which is DUAL 4G as per claim by Honor China, what i do is i extract out the boot&recovery&system&cache&userdata img from the update.app (using huawei tools) then flash it under fastboot, it will boot & load to "Android is upgrading" but after the progress finish it restart itself and repeat the "android is upgrading" progress
I've tried the same with 5.1.1 ply-tl01h rom. I get the bootloop with boot and system flashed and almost get to the home screen using the boot from the 121 firmware
Hi,
I hope you could find a way. I know there are chinese roms available, but hard to find and understand, we might ask them in english then they might help us.
I hope you could fix your phone
Hello Guys,
I bought my Honor 7 yesterday, and this is the model number -- PLK-L01C636B120
I tried to update to B121 or B130 or 140, All of them failed.
As I read my device model is Malaysia not Europe, So Can I flash Europe Stock ROM and flash all the updates?

NO i don’t think so! You should do not do that, because there are some differences between both firmwares. Pre-defaults for the mobil-net (modem drivers) ; LTE specifications; maybe some functions like recording during a call etc.
Edit: @Muhammad Rihawi have tried it and it seems to work. But i dont’t recommand it anyway!

Marshmallow on VK410 (Verizon's LG G Pad 7.0)

Does anyone know if there is a custom Marshmallow ROM for the LG VK410 (Verizon)? I hate that there's no Marshmallow release yet.
Could (or would) the VK410 take ROM's designed for the V410?
I've already checked for a CyanogenMod build for the VK410, but none exists.

You're rooted on a Marshmallow VK410 ?
How ?
Typing from a VK410 on ROOTED VK41010A with TWRP 3.0.2 for v410 flashed via Flashify....
From the TWRP app or a powered off state you will see the STOCK RECOVERY when trying to access twrp recovery. I pissed a little when continuing got the system to reboot and not twrp... I tried again this time choosing to wipe cache in the stock recovery, this made twrp start and then I could use twrp recovery as intended.
Downloading CM12.1 then CM13 for v410... I'll report back!
Havent used this device in a while what the hell lets see what it can handle.
TWRP made a backup to external sd and restored with no problems++
My Google Drive for downloads if you wanna look around....
Maybe I will host a clean rooted 4.4.2 VK41010a Backup somewhere... along with the stock recovery.img and boot.img for that build.

What was the version of Android when you ran Kingroot?
Had it been rooted at all before ? The device itself..
If you're the only owner of the device you'd definitely know if you unlocked the boot loader..
Typically by default they are all locked.. The only ones generally friendly about openly allowing easy unlocks or ship that way are the newish revenue stream known as "dev editions" of devices.

When I rooted it, I was on the latest version of Android provided by Verizon. As I am the original owner, it had not been rooted previously.

Most devices especially Verizon usually require an exploit & the interest in this device is non existent

I am on android 5.0.2.
I have tried modding it to get CM 13 on it, but could not get it to take. I am guessing that it has a locked bootloader, but I am unsure how to unlock it.
Oh damn I thought you had found a way to get to marshmallow even as rooted stock.
I guess I mistaked your wording
Yeah no marshmallow or nougat will happen unless things that aren't likely to happen do. From either mod devs or lg & vzw

Hey, today afternoon was so boring therefore I'm wondering around threads and then i found your update here.
You can try it out if your problem isn't solved yet. I think it'll help because it's the official nova 7.0 nougat version for Europe. Do reply so that others can benefit from your experience.

Your linking a old version of the Nougat update for the Nova variant CAN-L01C432 and the CAN-L11C432 which if your not careful could damage your phone if you don't have that version of the Nova. There is the CAN-L01C432/CAN-L11C432 variants, the MLA-L03C654 variant, the CAN-L01C02 variant and a couple of others I believe.

my bad i didn't know that there are these many variants.. Thank you for notifying
Hi everyone, my first post here.
Looks like im in the same situation.
I have Nova Plus from Bell/Virgin Canada. MLA-L03. Purchased it on Caraigslist and after 2 month they blacklisted my Imei. I decided to root the phone and maybe change imei as the phone was useless anyways. So i installed TWRP and rooted it successfuly .
The problem was that i could never get diagnostic port open for Qualcomm QPST program. So i upgraded to Nougar 7.0 ( NRD90M) it got UNrooted and i wanted tio install a newer version of TWRP, i guess i got a wrong version. Now its properly screwed up. I have FRP Lock in fasboot, it makes fastboot useless as i cant adb flash boot, or flash recovery. I can boot back to OS but OEM Unlocking is off and grayed out and FRP Lock blocks all communication, so ADB or Fastboot commands dont get through. i get "waiting for device" crap in command line. SD card upgrade doesn't work either. I dont know why and eRecovery wants to download update but fails all the time. I dont know how to get rid of FPR lock. If i find anything i will post here.

Unlocked Amazon XT1625 to retail firmware?

So, I have a 32gb Amazon-variant XT1625 on MPJ24.139-48 with an unlocked bootloader and root. I want to update to Nougat, but it's looking like setting up to take the Amazon update is going to be a fair amount of effort; I'm wondering if it's possible to just flash the retail version of Nougat since it's looking like I'm going to have to go to a fair sum of effort anyway.
I've also heard that Moto G4 Plus ROMs will work on the G4, but I don't know the specifics on that.
i dont see why not as long as you already unlocked the bootloader prior to Moto(Lenovo) disallowed unlocking of amazon varients of the g4. heres a link to the stock nougat firmware

I flashed -64 retus software on mine and it immediately had two nougat updates afterwards. Still waiting for one that fixes the aboot sector vulnerability too but never know when that may come

then you was able to flash retail version in a amazon prime phone? I have one and it dont boot if i instal a retail version.
di anybody actually get this working? I had the same issue as @iurd2007 I was able to unlock the bootloader just fine. The flash appeared to have taken successfully. But it just gets caught in a boot loop when trying to reboot the system after the flash. I followed the instructions here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
okay, so i've tried various roms both official and unofficial, as well as even the stock Nougat and Oreo flashable roms found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/rom-oreo-8-1-0-soak-test-t3873367
So far, the only ROM i've been able to get installed is omni rom 9, but it keeps crashing several apps over and over on the setup wizard. I've read somewhere that using a different version of TWRP recovery image might help. I've tried the official TWRP recovery from twrp.me, the patched arm64 version found here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/tw...3-r1-athene-arm64_rajatgupta1998.img/download , also the latest version patched for efs backup/restore here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=29106#downloads. So far the the one that seems to work the best is the third version of TWRP. It would be nice if all these custom patches made it back into an official release, but it's probably asking a lot of a phone that is almost 4 years old at this point. and a budget friendly phone at that.

Confused Noob+H990DS - Unlock/Root+TWRP Official Custom ROM possible (W/ 2. Screen)?

hi folks!
I am pretty confused now. I am looking to get the V20 H990DS, but i am more confused now after reading here. My questions:
1. Is Bootloader unlock possible?
2. Can i install TWRP?
3. Can i root?
4. There is LOS official i know, but is the problem with 2. screen now fixed / going to be fixed?
Seems so good of a device, but i am insecure about it now after reading here. My old Mi4/Cancro is one of the best supported phones out there, so i dont expect it to be the same with V20, but i need working LOS with Root and working 2. screen (or the outlook on it working in the future) to be confident in buying it.
I hope you forgive me my nood questions,
Greetings
With sadly no replys, let me add what i know now:
1. + 2. + 3. Still no easy way in sight AFAIK. EDIT: To be clear: There IS a way, Dirty Santa, but the instructions are somewhat too complicated to be confident with trying. Have had rooted Phones with custom ROMs since over 5 years and never again a stock device, but i dont dare it. The 300€ i payed are much to much to have spend it on a bricked device. Will try to find more dirty Santa noob friendly explanations and post them here. EDIT2: For those who DO dare it, here the thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/dirtysanta-h990-t3624296
4. Second screen still a problem, nothing new heard for quite a long time.
Anyone with knowledge to add or correct, please help! Stock ROM is not as bad as i thought, but without Root, Android is not fully usable for me.
thank you pro for this thread
very useful for me.

i dont get about your complain. you said already using phone with root for 5 years so i guess you've been here on xda for a while. if you really want a phone which support custom rom go with phone which support unlock bootloader like HTC, Oneplus, or even xiaomy. its not that hard finding them on XDA. 300euro for briked devices? well, if you read v20 section carefully you knew most people here bought this devices for the camera, audio, and other things like removable battery, etc. i never found someone who bricked their devices while rooting here, even if they do we already had flasher tools like LG up which already tested fully working by some members. and whats the problem with second screen? its working for whatever it made for. are you expecting to watch movie on those 2.1 inch display? i had lg v20 h990ds rooted with magisk and had no problem so far. bought some apps like grenify and titanium backup for debloated and my phone rocking solid for abouth 2 month. if you cant wait for LOS just bought lenovo zuk2 or oneplus 3t on the same price range.
No problem doing 1+2+3 with DirtySanta exploit/procedure. It's not as complicated or dangerous as it might seem from the instructions. I thought I had soft-bricked my phone twice after rebooting normally with the old kernel instead of straight to TWRP to update the kernel first, but it was easy to re-flash the 10d factory firmware file I had and start over again without any issues both times.
Basic summary of procedure:
1. Flash factory firmware version earlier than 31 December 2016 (only needed if installed firmware version is after 1 January 2017).
2. Do DirtySanta exploit to unlock bootloader and install TWRP and root.
3. Use kdzwriter to update phone's system/modem/cust partitions to latest firmware version without overwriting unlocked bootloader/TWRP, reinstall root (SuperSU or Magisk) from TWRP.
4. Disable automatic OTA updates so that any future firmwares won't automatically install and overwrite bootloader/recovery and remove root and set ARB 1. If that ever happens then TWRP/root will probably be gone forever.
provided you follow the instructions carefully, it's safe to root with DirtySanta.

No, right now if you update you'll lose root as the engineering aboot isn't compatible with Oreo and you have possibly non working data, invalid sim issues etc

Too bad. Your earlier post actually got me excited. Hehe. Anyway, hopefully someones starts working on rooting the oreo firmware.
The short answer? @Stele88
Yes. To all of it.
The long answer starts with the Dirty Santa root process. Believe me, I was daunted by it as well, but as long as you follow it (or the noob version of the guide you can find by searching around the same section the original guide is in) and take your time, you'll be okay. It's what I did and I'm now where I am today.
I'll address a couple things since I have the same device as you. If you want to get your device working properly on LineageOS/ResurrectionRemix (LOS with more customisation) then it's a long process.
1. Start by following the bootloader unlock process for Dirty Santa. Depending on what firmware your device gets shipped with, you may need to downgrade to (in the case of the H990DS) the v10c firmware. Once done, then you can Dirty Santa the bootloader and get it unlocked.
2. Once that's done and you're rooted with the initial TWRP from the thread installed, you'll want to look into KDZWriter. It's a program by the same emdroidle who did the Dirty Santa process for us that allows you to update your STOCK system software to newer versions and keep root. You can use it for example with the H990DS firmware KDZ files and go from rooted 10c -> rooted 10f -> rooted 10xx -> etc. until you're on the latest available 7.0 KDZ for the H990DS. This will be the longest part of your process, but it ensures that everything is up to date before going to AOSP/Lineage/Resurrection, specifically the modem partition. I recommend using the TWN region of firmwares if you're just going to convert to a custom ROM anyway, but any region will work fine (the only real difference is that, for example, the Australia region of firmwares comes with more bloat than the TWN region).
2b. You can also use KDZWriter from an updated TWRP you can get in the thread by Phoenix591, his latest TWRP versions have KDZWriter built-in so you don't have to run it off the computer, you can do it all with the kdz files in recovery.
3. Yes, you can root using the Dirty Santa method on v10c kdz firmware. I recommend Magisk for root over SuperSU.
4. There's no official LineageOS that is as up to date as the unofficial ones, and there's no official ones with second screen enabled full stop. That being said, the unoffcial LineageOS 15.1 by x86cpu has been my rock solid daily driver for about 2 months now and I've never had any issues that stop me from using it. The same can be said for ResurrectionRemix 6.2 by Blaises. To use either of these, you will need the updated TWRP from Phoenix591.
4. Second-screen enabled builds of LineageOS and ResurrectionRemix do exist, and in this case ResurrectionRemix is (as of this post) more up-to-date than the LineageOS 15.1 second screen version. If you find yourself needing additional features that aren't in the stock kernels for those ROMs (such as KCAL configuration to help with burn in, among other things), then I maintain the second-screen version of the Gamma Kernel by Omar-Avelar. People are successfully using this with second-screen ROMs and have full functionality. You can purchase the app BoredSigns from the play-store to add additional functions to the second-screen.
As I said at the start, it is a long process, but a very worthwhile one. The jump from stock to custom-ROMs is absolutely incredible. Again, in short, yes. You can get everything you want.
Just do your searching around the forums for the processes I outlined above, ask any questions you have, pre-download your kdz firmwares from HERE and any software you need, and just take your time. It's maybe a couple hours to get setup with a rooted stock system that's up-to-date, and maybe another hour or so to go from stock to Lineage/Resurrection.
P.S: If all goes well with the Dirty Santa process, but you get screen distortion after rebooting when flashing the TWRP from Dirty Santa, just pull the battery instead of rebooting.
Good luck, good searching, and remember to not be afraid to ask questions in the relevant threads.

It's highly doubtful this will happen, but one can hope. Right now the best way to get Oreo is through a custom ROM, purely because of how security is implemented by LG in the stock Oreo ROMs.

Actually it is possible runningnak3d has already said awhile ago he has a process to root stock oreo he's just not releasing it yet so LG can't patch it before the Oreo roll out is complete
