Hey, so yesterday I jumped off the bus dropped my g6 in wated and the bus drove over it. Smashed the backplate, ran home stripped the phone appart (within 5 mins) in a bowl of dried rice i the oven 10 mins.
Reassembled it and it's alive!
I just smashed the backplate and the tempered glass protector... So amazing.
Now I wanna root it. But I can't seem to find anything anywhere? I'm in Canada Ontario on lte/3g
À little direction would be appreciated.
Thanks :cyclops:

We don't have official bootloader unlock and likely won't ever receieve it. A member on XDA has found an LG exploit that is rumoured to work on varying devices including our chipset. (V20 V30 G6) it is not currently ready for release as the developer would like the official unlocked US version of oreo to be released from LG before; so it isn't patched right away. I've had the H873 since release and have patiently waited for a solution as a lot of the LG documentation is all over the different device forums, but yeah basically hold on just a bit longer. This development will be here soon, it all depends on LG.

I apologize for plugging the sale of my Hermes in this forum, but if someone is interested in it, it could be considered a public service.
My trusty phone died last November with the radio dying NO GSM issue. I tried everything I know to fix it. Now it is on e-bay.
Last summer, work was having a picnic lunch in the office with sandwiches and cooler full of pop. I reached down to grab a diet pepsi and my 8525 fell down into the ice. It got wet enough to trigger the sensor. But I immediately pulled it out, removed the battery and I ran into the blow dry it in the restroom. When I got it home I sprayed it down with electronics spray that displaces water and cleans it. The next day, I powered it up and it worked flawlessly until Minneapolis went to 3G. Instead of celebrating the 3G service I had been waiting for... I immediately started having phone issues. Within two days I had "No Service" and upon resetting I had "NO GSM". I had no chance of returning it for warrenty repair as the water trigger had been tripped.
I am selling it with two batteries and all the accessories except the charger which works fine with my Tilt.

Since you are a new XDA user, I would have to have some references for you (and payment) before I would sell it to you (or anyone internationally).
In the world we live in, there are too many legal issues with trying to collect payments internationally.
i've sent you pm with an offer...i don't have an e-bay account...i'm waiting for your response
I have it on e-bay. I am sorry, but I’m not going to take it off for your offer. I appreciate your consideration. I wish you luck in finding a phone.
The auction closes in an hour.

Hello, forum
I recently dropped my Nexus 4 in water. The battery was screwed, so I took it to the LG service center. They replaced the battery, but that didn't help, though it did shut off the red light. The phone showed no response at all. So, I just purchased the battery from them (no international warranty) and have decided to clean up the logic board properly. Would anyone recommend using rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol) for that? I have the whole thing disassembled and am waiting for the rubbing alcohol.
Please help. I'm getting a bit desperate here.
Regards
Raptor
UPDATE: I cleaned the motherboard up properly with 70% isopropyl alcohol. I let it dry up properly and wiped it clean using lint free microfiber cloth. I then packed it back up to check for boot, but nothing. I've left the phone connected to the charger. What should I do? Any help?
Have you considered ordering a replacement mainboard?

I did consider that. Here in India, the LG service center is charging almost $200 for it. It's available for around $100 online, but I'll have to wait for my brother to get it in December.

Hi raptor402!
Seems we both share the same problem. I too got my Nexus drenched in rain and the mainboard is screwed. LG service center (here in India) quoted INR 11k for the board. $100 is an amazing price. Would you please share the link?
We could consider shopandship if getting it from the US is a problem. Please let me know what you did if you have already solved the problem.
Thanks.
This month, a lot of LG G4 users in Thailand - H818P are getting stuck in the boot loop issue every day.
The only way is to bring it to LG service center and replace the mother board and they not yet found and the root cause of this problem for a month up to now.
Most is serial lot 505 are being sold in Thailand and found with 10f firmware.
Is someone get the same problem ? What is your country and firmware you are using?
I need how to Restore/Unbrick LG G4 H818P (Bootloop Fix).
Same in Israel - model h815L. Many people have this issue but the local company who is the LG importer here takes their time and do a poor work when changing the motherboard. I read of at least 80 people who had that in here.

Same problem here with h815EU, bought in Slovakia. Something very similar happened to me - kinda a bootloop - phone starts to LG logo (with unlocked booloader banner) and after ~15sec reboots again and again - luckily I was ableto go insto "download" and recovery and bootloader so I flashed original OpenEU LL droir(10D) - via kdz. After that I was able to boot to android - but after some time it reboots itself and I was back in bootloop. It works that way that after couple of hours on charger and helluva lot autoreboots it starts but again only for couple of minutes, sometimes i was able to install some apps, sometimes only starting google play ended up with bootloop. So now it's in servis, I hope they will fix it or replace, as it is I think memblk error - HW issue.
Please write your experience if you have or had this problem, let we can use it as argument if our warranty repair claims will be denied.
2 extra god & AvivEliyahu: please can you give more info about the probs you mentioned? AFAIK I recently found that even one of developers here was affected by this (or smth very similar) - S3V3N from Poland ( see here: http://forum.androidnow.pl/13118-7-...rp-unlock-bootloader-post85521.html#post85521)
I have h818p.. No problems.. YET

Interesting.
505 means year 2015, month 05 or may. This is how you can tell when our G4 was made. The first 3 digits of the serial#. You will learn about this useful nugget if you browse the warranty booklet included in the box.
This is the first batch of G4's. These would be people that bought at launch or within a few months from it. Now a days I doubt there is any 505 stock left any more.
When its is said a lot of people i question it. LG has been making many G4's since 2015-05.
If you are among the unlucky few, hit the service centre for a replacement. Might take up to a month but you will get it and for free.
If your model is 505 and more than 3 months have passed without issue then you are probably in the clear.
Just checked SN - its 505KPNY####11 (H815EU) so it's among those from first batch, I bought it sometime @ beginning of june, it worked till begining of november (exactly to - 06.11.) I have unlocked bootloader, but I ready to sue them if they wont fix it &|| repair. I gave it to seller for warranty repair this monday, so I'm waiting for results - I'll keep you posted.
Does Thailand get the SEA version which has unlockable bootloader ?
people facing this problem and who have a variant that has no way to unlock the bootloader have a water tight case.
If you unlocked the bootloader then all bets are off. You are dependent on their goodwill.
don't know about Thailand version (I have H815 EU, bought in slovakia), but I think it depends on local legal regulations - warranty, guarantee repairs. In EU seller is responsible for HW faults not caused by misuse and/or accidental damage(fall from desk etc.) Reality is that device is usually sent to manufacturer or authorised service and they decide. But unlocking bootloader cannot be considered as misuse, at least because unlocking is provided by manufacturer(LG) directly - in case that unlocking was done by some 3rd party app, it might be questionable, but in this case...
2 OneTwelve: Thx for info about 505batch
Very good.
It strengthens my belief that the G4 cannot be bricked with software alone.
It might appear bricked to you but the service centre has the tools to unbrick it.
What if they say they will unbrick it for a fee ?
This fee is actually round trip transport costs to a facility that has the tools and knowledge.
If they say requires a new mobo that suggests a hardware issue. But i am sceptical of this reason.
One month is enough time to send a device back & forth to anywhere in the world.
If they will ask for some reasonable shipping fee, i'll pay that. Hopefully it wont be like on ebay sometimes - some sellers set starting price as 1/10th of item value, but i saw ie. mouse+kbd kombo (worth approx. 100€) for 15€, but shipping was 85€
Today I got the bootloop issue on my G4, I haven't done anything yet, still virgin phone, but it sux give me such problem, will send it for warranty on Monday LG simply ruin its image to me this time.

One week is good, usually something like this might take a month.
I would not give up sd card and replaceable battery (forever) for 1 week - 1 month of wait.
You have a backup phone ? use it.

See, this is the thing i don't understand. Every damn phone has issues if you check on the boards. Someone who has used flagships for a few years knows this.
you had no problems with G2 & G3. So really only one out of three gave you trouble.
Are you paying out of pocket for mobo replacement ? no.
has LG refused warranty ? no
You think samsung will be good, but if there is a problem in the future with samsung you will say the same thing.
Then who will you run to

Never heard that Samsung have such kind of major issue, I was surfed local forum and all said most of serial number from 505-509 are affected (not just a few units), If I am LG, I will do a recall instead of to wait us to get problem and then get repair, I lost all my datas, mobile banking etc, That's the sux thing for me, if they do a recall, then the kind of crappy thing won't happen to their customer!
Hi Guys,
Every body has been on point regarding LG G5 GPS problem, and this problem was repairable by dismantling the phone, bending the 3 pins upwards as seen on Reddit.
The previous generations like G4 G3 and G2 were repairable by removing back cover and bending the 3 golden pins.
But how about LG G6? the phone is said to be water proof and high sealing. If we buy it and we came to know a GPS problem is around again, it would be very difficult to dismantle and repair as it will damage the water proofing.
I am looking forward to buy LG G6 if it appears to have Google Assistant, but I am really afraid to face a night mare with GPS.
LG has been known for GPS problem ever since G2.
They don't respond to customers regarding this issue and they do not even acknowledge it!
So what do you guys think? I will delay my purchase for G6 until I figure out this issue is not being reported by users around the world.
What do you think??

Delay buying. Waiting 6 months and reading people's problems on here 1st. If it still present, well New pixel here I come.
You are right on other LG phones having this issue as well. I've had low-high end Lg phones most has GPS issue. I got lucky maybe? No Gps issues with my newer version of LG g5.
Minds well wait 6 months anyway due to issues, price drop, root, etc. Win-win situation for consumer. Most you reading this should fellow suit.

GPS is solid out of the box. This phone is certainly much more of a premium design. The details are better, seams are better, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if build quality internally was the same. I think this is the best build quality of any LG I've ever owned (and I'm on my 7th LG phone). Time will tell.

Don't know about this waiting thing... Buying it now with my upgrade got me the following:
- $800 = LG G6 phone
+ $240 = service credit
+ $350 = FREE LG 49' 1080p TV
+ $150 = Google Home
So basically, in the end I only paid $60.00 + the taxes on the full MSRP.
I have a LG V20, almost new (used a couple of months, purchased new from Sprint). Suddenly it stopped connecting to Sprint's network. The phone is not rooted and not modified in any way.
Took it back to the Sprint store, they fiddled with it, flashed a new firmware (it's now on ZV8) still no go. They had me send it to LG for repair.
LG sent it right back without doing anything to it claiming it has water damage. They say they won't repair it, and invalidated my warranty.
Now, this phone has never touched water. It has never even been in the same room with water. It was very well protected and I can say for sure it does NOT have water damage. But LG won't hear anything about it and say they won't touch it no matter what.
I went to several shops in my area, most won't deal with LG phones at all, and the couple that do will only fix trivial stuff like replace screens.
From what I can tell the phone has one very specific problem. The cellular modem is off and it cannot be turned on. Everything else works fine, wifi, bluetooth etc. The only problem is the cellular modem.
What can I do? I don't want to throw it away. It cost me good money, and now it's a paperweight as phones go. I can use it as a glorified tablet but that's not what I need it for.
Have you tried opening the trash can and putting it in there lol? Sorry man but there is no fix for water damage phones
OK thanks I'll do that. I'll throw in the garbage my new, not water damaged phone.
@jh1521 Even if it was a software issue, you are now on ZV8 which can't be rooted, so there is nothing that can be done.
You are asking on a software forum about fixing a hardware problem, so expect some smartass replies.
Don't know if you knew this, but the modem isn't a separate chip, it is IN the CPU.
-- Brian
Try flashing it with lg up using the refurbish option? Otherwise sell it for parts on eBay.
I was merely asking if anyone knows of a company that would attempt a fix. But since the answer is no, I'll throw it away. Or use for target practice. And never buy LG again.
Case closed, problem solved. Thanks everyone who participated.
since you have nothing to lose; try factory reset, then flash kdz, then factory reset one more time.
He has an LS997 so there is no KDZ. He can use the VS995 KDZ though. However, I would ask people that have rooted if the VS995 KDZ works, or of they HAD to flash the LS997 firmware back. The reason being is that since he is on ZV8, he can't flash a VS995 KDZ that is rootable. Once flashed, it would be VS995...
Again, got nothing to lose, so try it...
-- Brian
Some pretty targeted water damage this is. it only took out the cellular modem and nothing else
Are the water indicators red at the back ?
Not sure, but....................

Lg did the same thing to me i think the motherboard on our phone are really sensitive to any type of humidity or moisture what so ever
My wife's works in a humid environment and her phone back light died. if they open up the phone and see anything that even looks slightly like it might be corrosion they will just charge you to ship it back and even if that is not the problem with the phone
