Hello Everyone!
I have an S3 I9300 and I'm having some problems charging it. Looks like the USB port is damaged or broken in the inside.
In the meantime, a friend gave an S3 Neo I9301I and I would like to know if I can restore a Nandroid backup of the S3 to the S3 Neo.
Will it work or I might brick the S3 Neo?..

No, because it's different the specifications.(I mean processor, sensors, etc...)
But if you only talking the apps(so the backup only contains apps and files(music, videos, pictures, etc.)) maybe work(a big maybe)
If you just want to the apps try this: I "ported" the Helium Backup to PC

If I wrong please somebody indicate.(Thanks)

Thanks for the reply Daniel! I believe that apps and stuff should work. I'll do it with Helium or Titanium. But first I have to find a nice ROM for Neo... That's what I trying to avoid...

Oh and more thing(if you want try my Helium Backup program)...
If you use Backup(ALL_APPS) you can backup your all apps with one .ab file. So if you have 30 apps and you use Backup(ALL_APPS) it makes ONE .ab file (instead of 30... so the mobile version creates 30 folders... ) which it contains all your 30 apps. So shortly 30 apps in one file.
Hey! That's quite cool!! I've found a nice ROM for S3 Neo and will install this weekend. I'll give it a try with Helium!

i gave you thanks for the reply, but are we 100+25% sure it will save my level it taken literally hours to get where i am in this game.
I have used Titanium backup many times on my Acer a500 and sgsii, and it has worked every time i have restored. Only restore user apps, not system apps. They can create trouble for you.
I personally use my root backup. Has worked every time. If you want to be 125% sure, backup with both. You can then backup & restore app & data on that game and should be golden.
Good luck!

Thanks for the replies and peace of mind guys guess ill be trying to flexreaper rv3 extreem edition after all,
any of you guys on this ive had 2 peeps say sods back but i think its from incorrect wipes what do ya reckon?
Probably not wiping problem. I have had that problem in AOKP for a500 and cm9 for my Galaxy s ii, and i tried all wipes without fixing it. Probably a good idea to try another one.
Thor's ICS ROM seems like the most stable to me of the custom roms.
You can also look for the rooted official roms. I tried one, but was a bit slow...
edit: here is the rooted ota ics update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633907

cheers but i gotta admit im not stepping away from flexreaper . civato really made my tab "my device" lol it doesn't leave my side since i went with f'reaper
I agree, I use FlexReaper Extreme and my tablet is in my hand everywhere I go...I've not had ANY issues with FR Extreme and haven't seen SOD for a LONG time, especially since the "official" ROM dropped.
Good luck & Have fun,

well if your totatly nervous about doing it, you can make a backup with TB and then backup the folder in the (internal)sd card, it should be in a folder like android/data I think do some digging you will find it in there
Does this work for like restaurant story or bakery story? Because the data goes on online servers so I don't know if i t worked or not

i would have thought if its a login web server game if you download onto another device, sign in and see if your stats are the same. if so then you can safely uninstall and re-install.
You could also use DataSync & save locally or to your Dropbox if you really want redundancy. I have never had TiBu fail me.
Hi all,
Sadly, I have irrecoverably bricked my S2 and I am no longer as active in the S2 forums. This does not mean you guys should stop trying to port this ROM to the S2 - It is a great device that should still be considered as one of the high-end phones in the market. Even though I've moved on to the S3 I will gladly try to help this project that I started and I am following this thread post by post.
I think it would be a good idea if everyone that has done something for the porting post exactly what they did and what were the results.
Hi guys,
I know that I've been fairly quiet over the past week, and that is because this project is going nowhere. I know we have some general direction of what we have to do, but a lot of fine details are unclear to me and everybody else. These details are ones such as: how to decompile & recompile the apks, which images to resize & how, what folders should be renamed, what files are needed in the new Rom, and more.
I have asked for assistance from the people porting the Sense 4 One X Rom to the S2, and I am waiting for a reply.
Sit tight, and hope for the best!
Hi guys!
This thread is meant to organize the porting of the Galaxy S3 firmware to our Galaxy S2.
The first thing we have to do is make the /system folder of the Rom smaller than 500MB, because that is how our phone is partitioned. To achieve that the first thing we have to do is convert all the XHDPI images in the apks to HDPI images because it will make the apks smaller and anyways - our phone is a HDPI device. After we do this, we will see if we have to trim down on more space in our /system folder.
To test if the Rom will boot after we do the above steps, I deleted a bunch of non-essential apps such as voice talk to make the /system folder smaller than 500MB. I then replaced the /system/app & /system/framework with the modified S3 ones, but unfortunately the Rom did not boot fully and got stuck at boot animation. To figure out why it didn't boot, Pulser suggested that we use a kernel that has adb force enabled and then we can get a logcat and see what the problem is.
For people who want to help meanwhile:
The task that is needed to be done is convert all the XHDPI images in the apks to HDPI images.
How to do this:
1. Download the S3 Rom (below).
2. Download Resizer 1.0 (below).
3. Resize all XHDPI images in all the apks in /system/app & /system/framework.
Download Links:
I9100 Rom - http://www.mediafire.com/?4v6i6isqa3pa4lw
I9300 Rom - http://www.mediafire.com/?9xk39miljh3l9vw
Resizer 1.0 - http://www.mediafire.com/?d6h6lpwm8jxdjxr
Resized Apps: (0/190)
/system/app (0/188)
/system/framework (0/2)
Would love to see this happen, not sure how viable it is though.
please post in gereral ore q&a thead

it would be more then WOW to get it ported to the sgs2.
But is it posible to run quad-core kernel/modem/radio software on a dual-core carrier
I thing good intentions are not enough. There must be several developers interested in thic project

That is why this thread was opened, to get developers interested...
Please do that awesome devs !
this is very interesting.
A great idea, I'll be watching to see com evolves.
They have ported the ICS based ROM to the SGS. Why can the SGS3's ROM not be ported to ours as well? :/
Now that we have a few dozen users interested within a few hours of this thread existing, we have to try to raise the awareness of developers in the hope that some of them join the project.
Whoever has names of developers that might be interested, please try and contact them and see if they are interested in joining the project.
Well if any devs are going to do this...There is not much use in porting the UI and the SGSIII theme. Rather shouldn't the emphasis be on the handy features and new apps that Samsung have made?

very problematic idea
have you seen how much space take an I9300 rom ?
to do a proper port the developer will need to creat a new pit file (wich will re format the space on the phone to give larger drive for the system)
and a new bootloader wich he will have to make to work with the new pit
without cusing hard brick to the user

app folder and framework folder of sgs3 is 470 MB and our system partition is 500 MB so not enough space for other files such as libs, bins, media, etc
Maybe if its ported then devs can remove some bloatware and move some apps to data partition

Won't the apps be portable anyway its all 4.0.4 - not sure why you would want the whole ROM for a different phone?
Have been thinking about this all morning... glad people are already on the case!! After using an S3 yesterday, I'd personally be keen for a straight/similar ported ROM where possible rather than pulling out all the best bits. I've had enough of AOSP ROMs for now....
Hi , I own the Galaxy Tab 5110 , and since I'm not really sure about the cleanrom (is it really safe to flash it on this model?) , I'd like to know what are the "bloat" applications made by Samsung wich are safe to uninstall with Titanium backup?
Thanks in advance
Do a backup and try for yourself. I have literally removed almost every single application without a bootloop so I would say you should be okay.
Metallice was kind enough to list the apps he removed from his Custom ROM.
check it out HERE.
This is for the 7", but bloatware should be the same
I have made a List. Just go to the thread: Applications Safe To Remove

hello frnds,
When many people were working on multiwindow and CM i decided to work upon my own to bring up s IV camera ..it's so strange that i've not seen a single thread to get this amazing feature !
i will upload my first compilation soon ..
remember it's just the initial build which includes some unnessasry libs and apps ..
but im sure that some experienced dev will be able to solve it ..
btw you don't have to change the app to hdpi as i've done it already
REMEMBER EVEN I DIDN'T TEST THIS BUILD ..IT'S JUST A COMPILATION OF REQUIRED FILES
instructions: (for testers)
1.Please make a nandroid backup..
2.delete seccamera.apk from system/app cause you are installing seccamera2.apk:fingers-crossed:
3.flash via CWM/TWRP and reboot..
instructions: (for devs)
1.before flashing this zip just go through all the contents especially the library files
2.delete what you think is unnecessary
3.do some changes in framework2.jar(i think it has to be edited i'm not sure)
4.then make a nandroid backup and flash..
first compilation:https://www.dropbox.com/s/qludngntsu7asa0/camera beta 1.zip
reseved
HDPI? Hmm. I don't have an Advance but Blaze is the same res. Let me look into it..
Sent from my Blaze/HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta(using both )
Edit: Looks big for a camera and some needed libs. For sure there are unneeded ones in there.

good:good:
i really wanted to check what happens..
now here's what exactly happened according to me..
#the zip permissions are al-right so it should have flashed everything properly
#but the space reserved for the ROM in s advance is not enough!
#remember on s3,s4,note 2,grand etc. you don't get 3 divisions of phone memory
#in our phone the phone memory shows around 2 GB
#so the space must have been occupied by the smaller files mainly eraser, beauty face etc.
#time for test 2 buddy !
#goog luck with multiwindow..:good:
Yes you're right after flashing I saw that in the titanium backup.
It shows 631mb in the system rom.

I would be very happy if you all could share your ideas and knowledge with me regarding
List of things to do after buying a new Android Tablet
I am expecting my GT-N8000 next week and I want to start on the right footing with my new device.
It could be a list of do this and do that....step by step in order of precedence.
ex:
1. Disable UAC on Windows
2. Install Samsung Kies software on PC
3. Backup current/original Bootloader and save it on your PC for fallback purposes
4. Backup current/original ROM and save it on your PC for fallback purposes
5. Copy CWM or whatever...on your SD Card.
6. Boot up by pressing this and that button....
