Does anyone know if Samsung's Note 4 motherboard replacements actually have a proper EMMC chip? Or are they simply giving you another defective motherboard with a short warranty?
I'm asking because Samsung in Canada wants $390 to replace the motherboard. Even the service staff guy rudely recommended against it. It only comes with a three month warranty.
So, I'm inferring they don't actually change the motherboard. They most likely just give you another Note 4 and hope it doesn't go bad in three months.
Also - Any suggestion of a robust android phone would be much appreciated. I seems like Samsung is the Ford of phones.
$390 seems excessive. In EU a used Note 4 is ~$150. Note 4 with a broken screen ~$90.
I plan to do the motherboard swap myself and would suggest you check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUDgGaFcCNY&t=287s and decide if you want to try it yourself.

Yes, $390 is excessive, but that's Canada for you..
If you're planning to do a motherboard swap, how will know if the new board has a good emmc chip? Are you buying the board directly from Samsung?

I'm planning to buy a used Note 4 with a broken screen. Possibly even N910C. Now, I cant know for sure the state of the eMMC chip, but it will be better than mine, that is dead

Does a Sprint Note 3 screen work on an AT&T/T-Mobile Note 3 ? I have a friend that can replace Sprint Note 3 LCD/Digitizers on broken Sprint Note 3's and was wondering if I could replace a broken/damaged LCD from an AT&T or T-Mobile Note 3 too? TIA
I got my answer via Samsung chat:
info: Please wait for a Samsung Agent to respond.
info: You are now chatting with 'Daisy'. There will be a brief survey at the end of our chat to share feedback on my performance today.
info: Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK1125601008151X
Daisy: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
david: i have a galaxy note 3 with a broken glass.
david: can you tell me if the replacement LCD for a Sprint Note 3 and a T-Mobile Note 3 are the same?
david: or are they different part numbers?
Daisy: I am sorry to know that the device glass is broken.
Daisy: I would like to inform that the LCD for the Sprint Note 3 and a T-Mobile Note 3 are the same.
Daisy: Samsung do repair the device screen and fix it.
Daisy: Samsung provides one year standard warranty for the device from the date of purchase. Unfortunately, physical or liquid damage are not covered under warranty service cost includes accordingly.
david: so then the screens for a CDMA Note 3 and a GSM Note 3 are the same?
david: if so, can you provide me with the part #?
Daisy: I will explain you David.
Daisy: Samsung does not sell any spare part and we do not recommend to replace or repair the device LCD screen.
Daisy: It may void the device functionality.
david: yes
david: i understand.
david: the work would be performed at a local repair facility
david: however I was told that the LCD for a Sprint Note 3 was different than a T-Mobile Note 3 and was provided different repair costs.
david: this is why I'm trying to see if it's in fact the same part for every different carrier variant of the Note 3.
Daisy: I would like to inform that the Note 3 model is same for all Carrier.

This helped me a lot i was looking for a replacement for my N900W8 and was confused as what to buy, now i understand if you order the LCD only it can be istalled to any note 3, however if you happen to buy it with the frame then im afraid you'll only be able to install it to that specific carrier/model you bought it for unless you also buy the usb flex AND the corresponding back cover for that frame. Thank you for this post OP

This makes alot of sense. I was wondering why there were n900A and n900T assemblies on ebay that said they weren't compatible with each other. So I guess to get the best price, it's wise to buy the frame and the lcd/digitizer seperately and just use the self adhesive on it for a quick install. I'm glad to hear the connections for the lcd will work perfectly with the main board.

Sorry if this bumps this but I found this tread via a google search so I want to set the record straight that if it part includes the frame around the glass and LCD the parts are not compatible and could have a price difference.
Hi all of you, i´m thinking to buy a note 4 demo unit i know that it can´t be used like a normal note 4 but here´s a but, i´m also thinking to buy a note 4 normal mother board and my question is, if I can replace de normal motherboard in the demo unit and have a full phone working, I want to do this because is more cheap to me if I buy separately and make the phone working, sorry if the post don´t go here, I will be really really thanksfull is you can help me thanks in advance.

Not sure about the others. But the phone seems like not able to get opened up as easy as unscrewing the screw. Probably will leave some scratches or damage to the digitizer etc. Is the price differ that much?
PS: What about IMEI number?? If you are buying demo unit I don't think you will have any valid IMEI from the demo phone.

He could just use one from an old phone (or maybe his carrier doesn't care about phones without IMEI-numbers).

If you have the demo units that had been used during launch then your going to need more then a Mobo. The screens don't actually work so you'll need one of those. Also a battery. Then the Mobo. Working Spen, because the demo units don't actually work. Then you need to get the equipment to flash a IMEI if the Mobo doesn't have one. Just at the price of Mobo replacements your better off buying a real Note 4 straight up.
ok I want to do that because I already did with an S5 I purchase a demo unit then just replaced the motherboard with another that I have, and now I have a fully functional galasy S5, but I don´t know if it is the same with a note 4 by the way the demo unit of the galaxy S5 is the g900x model and use it with a g900h motherboard

hmmm What i know so its possible you just need to change the motherboard with IMEI .

this is really old and all, but:
i opened a note 4 live demo unit last week:
the antenna cables between the mainboard and the bottom/usb PCB are missing including the connectors on the boards(s),
so it would appear that you at least need to add those cables, and either solder the connectors on the bottom pcb (or replace the whole bottom pcb, which is likely easier).
and beyond that, i cannot tell if the actual antennas are maybe missing too.
(and maybe one of the two cables is for wifi, which could explain that wifi is rather weak on my note4)
I believe that demo units are actually fully functional units of the retail product. The only difference is that the OS has been customized so it contain additional retail demo bloatware.
i own three note4 demo units (off ebay) and used them for years, with wifi tethering to a low-end phone for internet.
here is a picture of a disassembled note4 demo unit (right/top) compared to a regular (gsm) unit (bottom/left).
imgur.com/a/A1WKlJK
please observe the missing cables and unpopulated pcb connectors.
i dont't know about the other radio hardware.
i've had an offer from somebody who can supposedly turn a demo unit into a functional phone with a software fix, but the missing cable speaks against that.
otherwise the main difference is that demo units have the "samsung retail mode" app installed, which does all kinds of annoying things, and blocks any removal of itself through regular means (unless you know it's password), but getting rid of it is rather trivial, because the bootloader of the demo units (that i had) is not locked. you can just flash a new rom (AND wipe userdata)... or even just a custom recovery, and delete the retail-mode app from the system through the recovery.
but even then, no cellular radio.
and no gps(!), supposedly because gps is handled by the same chip.

Hey guys,
My Nexus 6p no longer receives signal, which is caused by a faulty soldered chip on the motherboard. All the service shops I visited can't fix it, they recommended buying a new motherboard instead. My Nexus 6p is the H1512 (International) model. The question is:
Can I put the motherboard from H1511(NA) to the H1512(International) mode and will it work? Broken USA models are selling cheap and I will pretty much try that, if anyone can give me a hint at the possibility of it working out.
Thank you
Graphics card guys having issues with solder have put their cards in oven at 250 for some length of time (I don't remember) to fix the solder to make a dead card work again.

Sorry to say but I can't see how this could possibly be economical or worth the effort. No reason it would not mechanically connect and function but the question is really: will the NA model work well in your location? A quick google of the bands in Bulgaria vs USA says no. No GSM overlap, No 4G LTE overlap and only one UTMS band on 3G (UTMS 2100). Another risk you take is the MB is already toast on the phone you buy (and the reason it was sold for parts). You really need to find a INTL MB for it to work in your country.

Looking for a good motherboard and don’t know which is the best. Don’t worry. Here we are introducing the best motherboard for Ryzen 7 3700X. It is a really impressive launch from AMD and its third Generation of Ryzen chips.
With it, you’re getting 8-cores and 16-threads, with a boost clock speed of 4.4GHz. With some other unique and fastest chip from the Ryzen 3000 series, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for AMD processors.
My phone was turned off while charging and it does not turn on at all. motherboard burned. Please help me if you know a place where I can find a motherboard selling board.
You probably do not need the full motherboard. are you sure that it wasn't just the usb card that was burned? Obviously get rid of the usb cable. BTW, this happened to me also.

X720 Motherboard ( will work with X727)
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mot...d0bba9a&transAbTest=ae803_2&priceBeautifyAB=0
Edit: sorry its $126 ( Ripoff!) Might as well buy another phone at that price.
Buy the way, we have 4 Leeco phones in our house
You can buy the Leeco x522 for just $107 on Amazon and it has a snapdragon 625 processor and is pretty freaking sweet for just over a hundred bucks. Maybe consider buying that instead of fixing this one.

Thanks for your help, my friend. I want to use this phone. because the phone is very nice. I'm thinking of taking AliExpress. Is there any risk that the motherboard is problematic?

Aliexpress has a money back guarantee.
I don't know the specifics. Because, I haven't ordered from them. But, I have been told that they are reputable and offer a good warranty.
Again, be sure its not the USB card.
I thought my motherboard was fried but it turned out being the USB card, which is extremely easy to fix.
Another option if you live near a large city, take it to a shop that does repairs at the component level.
There is repair through mail shops such as : Louis Grossman at https://www.rossmanngroup.com he has become well known for his YouTube channel. The guy knows his stuff, and I understand that his pricing is fair. Plus, he has several technicians employed so his repairs are fast. His speciality is Apple. But, he repairs android as well.
There are many shops like his: I.E : https://www.ittechrepair.com/ it may save you the headache and some money to use a professional shop that has the tools to do micro soldering repairs.
Good luck.
