I had been having issues receiving mms messages, and after going through the steps with one of the phone reps to do ## codes. Now, whenever the phone turns on, I am presented with a black screen (where the launcher would be), and then I can't launch any applications. I can still navigate through the settings menu.
I tried downloading the SPR-L720VPUAMF9-20130626162512 file firmware that is posted in the general section, but this didn't seem to actually fix my problem. As I still can't activate the phone on the network, and I can't boot into the launcher.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with this. I think the next one I will try will be the rooted deodex from crawlj. But I do need some help, either to get the entire phone back to stock (or stock w/ root) or just to get it to activate on the sprint network at the moment.
I was able to get the phone booting, but am still unable to get the phone to activate on the network. It shows up as custom under Settings > About Device > Status, and if I boot into Odin mode, it shows as custom for everything, even though I have installed the stock recovery, kernel, modem, etc.

Try clearing your launcher data from settings (I think it's TouchWiz Launcher unless you're using a custom launcher). If that doesn't work, then you might have to use Odin to flash a factory image.

You can probably refer to this guide. It might help!
And if you want to completely reset your phone, you can download the stock firmware here.
Then use the .tar file in Odin and go from there. You should get a fully stock Galaxy S4 (with stock recovery too)
Hey guys quick question before I download and attempt it, I have an Australian i9506 (Cat 4 LTE) but we don't have an official 5.0.1 firmware yet.
Can I just download the Nordic version from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9506/ and install it, or would it brick my phone/radios not work?

Hi mate,
Yes you can !! it will not brick it , you may have (or not) problems with the modem as maybe is not the best for your region but you can always flash another...
should not be a problem
BACKUP first , nandroid and your EFS Folder, just in case there is a problem
Just to add to the previous suggestion, use Wanam's EFS Backup Tool rather than Samsung Tool, as it not only backs up the EFS partition but the hidden partitions where the IMEI and the modem are stored.

It also depends if your phone is carrier locked.
Thanks for the advice guys I'm giving it a try now, will edit as I go. My phone is not carrier locked (Voda AU don't lock them fortunately but they provide the codes on their website for free to unlock anyway).
So I downloaded Odin3 3.09 and the firmware I9506XXUDOA6_I9506NEEDOA6_NEE (this is the link from sammobile).
I'm following the instructions I found on another site but it's basically put the phone into download mode (home, power and volume down), agree to enter download mode, in Odin for AP select the .tar.md5, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Time Reset are ticked but not Re-Partition or anything else and start.
EDIT 1: The phone rebooted into recovery and updated something, now the phone is booting with a new boot animation. (for those referring to this I was on the latest AU Voda FW, then updated to CM12 5.0.2).
EDIT 2: After the usual nerve-wracking amount of time of first boot the boot logo finally went away and the usual "optimizing apps" message has come up and it's started (235 apps whoa the bloat). Waiting for that but at least it's working to a point where I can recover it. I just realised it's 6:10AM now and I FORGOT TO MAKE A BACK UP. I hope this works but worse case scenario there's a 4.4.2 Vodafone firmware I could flash and try my luck with if this doesn't work out.
EDIT 3: I'm not sure if it's part of the setup process but the word "UP" then a short progress bar appeared on the screen, now I've got only a black screen with a status bar (4G icon is there but no clock). I have rebooted from the power menu, let's see what's going on here.
EDIT 4: Cache wipe from stock recovery didn't work, trying factory reset from stock recovery. I note that the first time I set up the phone it was plugged into the computer with ODIN still running, I don't think it could have interfered but I unplugged the phone this time just in case.
EDIT 5: I'm not sure if it was ODIN or needing to do a factory reset but it's working now, I'm running through the set up. WiFi is working 100%.
Final EDIT: Everything is working 100%, tested the camera, proximity sensor, screen rotation, voice calls, mobile data, wifi and it's all 100%.

For any other Aussies out there trying this I'm on day two and everything is working perfectly, getting root is super easy too, just use Odin to flash a custom recovery (Solk's CWM from May 2014 works great), boot into the recovery and install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.45.zip, exit and when it asks if you want to repair root say yes. Reboot, go to the play store, update to the latest SuperSU and all is well.

I got my wife a Samsung S8, SIM free as it was cheaper to buy the phone out right and get a 3 SIM only deal.
Only problem is because we got the phone from a online retailer, 3 won't activate the wifi calling.
So I have decided to flash the 3 S8 firmware via odin to my wife's phone but before I do that I have a few questions so I know I don't mess things up.
I will list the questions in number form so could you list the answers in number form with answer matching the question number, so I know what people are talking about.
1. When I glanced at Sammobile, I saw nothing mentioned about 3. Only thing I saw was H3G does this mean 3....if not what is 3 software listed as.
2. Will flashing this firmware wipe or factory reset her phone. (I know that I need to back things up anyway)
3. Will doing this Firmware flash void her insurance. As it's official Samsung software, I didn't think so but I want to be sure.
4. After the update will her phone be locked to 3.
5. Has anyone got any tips and guides which can help with this.
6. I hear that you can google blocked doing this type of thing, how do you get around getting blocked and if I do, how do I unblock a google blocked phones.
7. Will flashing 3 firmware actually give me wifi calling in the end.

Firstly, there are Dozens and dozens of flash guides all over the web on flashing a SS phones with ODIN, 2nd'ly, its one of the easiest phones to flash..
Before you do anything download and install the latest SS USB drivers.. plug your phone in so they are detected.. then goto>settings and turn ON USB debugging in developer options.. plug in phone again.. so the device is detected again, then unplug... this installs the (A)ndroid (D) ebug (B)ridge driver, leave USB Debugging ON..
Your questions:,,
1) Yes H3G is 3UK... also EE use wifi calling..
2) Yes, it will wipe her phone... When you download your H3G firmware.. there are 2 CSC files in the folder.. I recommend using CSC... do not use HOME_CSC
3) No it will not void the warranty... its only when you trip KNOX by rooting, or custom roms that you invalidate warranty... Stock is fine
4) Yes it will... you will have to get an Unlock code to SIM unlock her phone.. SIM Unlock.. is not Flashing a rom.. What makes SS devices so cool.. is that you can flash any stock rom from any provider.. and it doesnt affect the bootloader, so you could flash an unbranded (open), EE or O2 rom on your 3 SIM locked phone..
5) Theres so many on the web and on XDA for SS phones and ODIN flashing, just type "Galaxy S8 back to stock" into search. My advice.. READ READ and more READ the guides ALL THE WAY Through, before you do ANYTHING AT ALL.. and make sure the phone you have has no SIM locks or security locks on it before you start.
6) Never heard of this... its only a stock rom your flashing, youll be fine
7) If 3 support Wifi Calling and the Rom your flashing has it coded in, then Yes it should work fine. EE also support Wifi calling

So, if its a 3 Rom, youll get updates when 3 push them out... if its an O2 rom, youll get them from O2.. and so on.... That is why soo many people flash Unbranded/Unlocked Open Roms... because unlocked phones have, in the past, gotten updates first and factory unlocked phones / roms dont come with Bloatware / carrier rubbish apps installed ..
Remember.. Just READ everything

Thank you so much. I will make sure to do my research. I have used odin before so I have some experience using the tool but not for big things like this. Last thing I used it for was to download TWRP to my rooted tablet.
I will also pull out her memory card so she can save her photo......she will be pissed about the wiping the phone part but if we want wifi calling then needs are a must.
Anyway of backing up her phone on a level where I can just put in her user name and password it will literally restore back to the point of the last back up....eg install all her the apps and themes the way she had them before the firmware update.
It's really important I nail this, as this is the first time we have gone SIM free and I don't want to be going back to paying extra for contracts just because we need the wifi calling. (And we both hate the three in touch app)....so my success with this will be important for the next phones we buy.

Hi....i seem of got myself in a pickle.
I read countless amounts of guides and watch loads of videos but still not gone right. (Phone isn't broken thankfully)
Basically I do everything guides tell me, but it's when I press start on odin the problem happens. It doesn't fail but it doesn't progress....on the text box it stops at a point that says Nand START (something like that) but doesn't get past that point....i sat for an hour the first time I tried it and 30 mins every time after that. Another thing it does is at the top where you get the green loading bar....that part goes white and says something like select Partition (not near my pc at the mo and when I was with the pc my wife had my phone, so couldn't take a photo)
I have 3 solutions that could be causing the problem but I just want to get a second opinion.
1. I read everywhere about device drivers and I was under the impression that they downloaded automatically when I plugged the phone to the pc....is there secondary drivers I need to download (sorry for the basic question)
2. My odin wasn't the latest version....i was using odin 3.09 and now there is odin 3.13 (I think) will using the latest version stop this problem.
3. I wonder if my antivirus is blocking it....do antivirus's ever get in the way of flashing firmware.
Hope some can help before tonight

Hi again everyone.
I feel like I am talking to myself here. I have managed to sort it.
I downloaded some secondary device drivers for her phone and then update odin to, Odin v3.12.7 and it worked first time.
I also used the original charging cable instead of the official charging cable for the gear 360 camera.
To restore her data, I backed up to samsung cloud in the settings, signed her in and restored the date I backed up....didn't originally think it would be any good but I am impressed.
Result is I have a phone that has wifi calling and I read somewhere that if you take the SIM out of your phone when you download the firmware it doesn't SIM lock the phone.....and it seems to have worked. (Not sure how true it is or if I was just lucky)
Hope this thread helps, I want to cover a few different things in it and learn something on the way.

Hi everyone.......again.
My last post I promise.
I wrote a bit of a guide for myself for when I need to do this again. I thought would post it here so people can see it and use it if they wish.
(The notes before the method is apart of my guide. Hope it all helps)
Notes Before The Method
the cable you are using to connect to the pc should be the original charging cable. (If you don't have the original then use the one your using and see if it works but try to find a official Samsung charging cable)
Your phone needs to be at least at 60% battery.
Older phones sometimes don't work with newer versions of Odin so if this is happening download a older version.
If it's a new phone and you want to personalize it from scratch then no need to back up and restore any data.
After removing your memory card, plug it into your computer using a memory card extension and copy photos to your computer. Just in case the phone formats the memory card when entered back in to the phone, after the firmware is installed.
Method
1. Go to Sammobile via Google chrome in incognito mode. (If you don't do this they will re-direct you to a sign up page, everytime you press download)
2. Download Firmware, find this by picking the lastest firmware thats with your network and match the Baseband version or the last part of build number. (found in system info in the settings)
3. Install the latest version of Odin and install secondary device drivers on your pc/Laptop.
4. (On your mobile) back up your data in the samsung cloud.
Setting>Cloud and Accounts>Samsung Cloud>Backup settings> Back up.
If you have a memory card, move all your photos ect, to it and remove it from your phone.
5. Go into setting and tap build number 7 times to unlock developer options. After unlocking it, enter developer options and enable usb debugging.
Setting>developer options>USB Debugging.
6. Once the firmware file has stopped downloading on your pc extract it and send send it to your Downloads File.
7. Open Odin and load each part of firmware in the right box e.g. AP with AP, BL with BL, CSC with CSC ect (Do not load up Home CSC this is used for when your moving a branded device to another brand, E.g. EE to 3)
8. Before you plug your phone up to the computer. Turn your phone off and enter Odin mode(Download mode). Each device has a different way of doing this so just google how to do it on your specific device.
9. Once your phone is in download mode plug it into the computer and press start. This should take a few minutes but some files may take longer.
10. Once the Odin confirms the process is done, by showing the pass sign unplug your phone and turn it on. (First time you turn it on May take a minute or two to load. )
11. Enter your google email and password, and restore all your data on google.
12. Then enter your Samsung user and password, after that press restore and choose the date you backed up on before you flashed your phone (at point 4)
13. Enjoy....your all done.

It's terrible, but someone told me I should use WiFi calling, since we have WiFi throughout the building. He had me all pumped up until I realized I didn't have the option for WiFi calling on my Note 4. After researching it, I believe you must have at least Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow).
Can someone confirm this or tell me what I need to do so I can enable this wonderful feature called WiFi calling on my phone? This would be a godsend for me. I've been told that since I have TWRP installed I can pretty much install and test any roms, but I've been afraid to because I figured there has to be more to it than that.

Can someone confirm this or tell me what I need to do so I can enable this wonderful feature called WiFi calling on my phone? This would be a godsend for me. I've been told that since I have TWRP installed I can pretty much install and test any roms, but I've been afraid to because I figured there has to be more to it than that.

I'm almost certain that is a marshmallow feature. If you can see the option but it's grayed out and you can't turn it on then there's a fix for that. Otherwise you would need to upgrade to 6.0.1 and you'll have to go through the bootloader unlock method with a 6.0.1 bootloader is the only obstacle. If you don't update the bootloader your wifi won't work with the 6.0.1 roms.
Use this link for a guide to unlock your bootloader.

Thank you for the reply and the link! I wish it were only greyed, but no, I do not have the option at all.
Regarding the bootloader, the link you provided shows in the title that it is for N910VVRU2CQI2, but I have N910VVRU2BPA1. I did originally have N910VVRU2CQI2, but to root my phone, I was told to flash the N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVZW2BPA1_VZW [5.1.1 Stock FW] ROM to my phone.
Will I need to revert back to N910VVRU2CQI2 or can I still follow the instructions to unlock the bootloader with my current N910VVRU2BPA1 baseband version?

No you're already at the right starting point. Just start at the step where you flash the combination firmware of BPA1_CPD1. After that the process is the same as @ryanbg posted in the original unlock method.
If you want, these are the steps I did:
1. Power down, pull the battery for 3 seconds, then boot into Download Mode
2. Using Odin, flash the BPA1\CPD1 hybrid firmware
3. Once that's done flashing reboot to recovery and factory reset. Then reboot and let that firmware install
4. Once you've gotten past all the setup part you'll want to power off again and boot to download mode again
5. Using Odin, flash the CQI2 aboot and then reboot. From this point on the process is the same as before.
6. Enable developer options, turn on USB debugging and turn on "allow unknown sources" in the security settings.
7. At this point, you'll want to have your spare SD card in and go ahead and open a command window from the same location that you have the samsung_unlock_n4-fix file in. In my case it was in my download folder and the easiest way to do that is to open that window, hold down the shift button, then right click. You should see an option that says "open command window here" then click that to open.
8. Once you open the terminal enter this command: adb devices
9. Then this command: adb push samsung_unlock_n4-fix /data/local/tmp/
10. Then install kingroot and let it start rooting. Be sure to keep the terminal open and your phone connected.
11. Once kingroot starts the rooting process do not let the phone go to sleep. Just keep a finger on the screen.
12. When kingroot gets past 50 -60 percent, enter this command in the terminal: adb shell
13. If you enter adb shell and it gives an error or says your offline, just unplug the Usb from your phone and plug it right back in. Then enter the adb shell command
14. As soon as kingroot says you're rooted, enter this command in the terminal: su (You have to grant root permission on the phone and continue)
15. Then this command: cd /data/local/tmp/
16. Then this command: chmod 777 samsung_unlock_n4-fix
17. Then this command: ./samsung_unlock_n4-fix
18. Once the scripts starts it will ask you if you want to continue, just type out: yes
Then it will do it's thing, back up your bootloader, and then power your phone down when it's done.
19. Once powered down, PULL OUT YOUR SD CARD, and boot back into Download Mode
20. Using Odin, flash Twrp and immediately boot into recovery when Odin reboots your phone.

Thanks for all your help, I finally got around to upgrading it. Everything went smooth and I am finally running MM 6.0.1 but unfortunately, I still can't find the feature for Wi-Fi Calling. I do now have a Advanced Calling option under Settings, which I believe you must have to use WiFi Calling, but I can't find the WiFi Calling anywhere to enable it. I must say, I'm really disappointed, yet still proud of myself that I didn't brick my phone in the upgrade process.
So, any suggestions as to why I can't find WiFi Calling on MM 6.0.1?
So no one has any ideas why I would still not have the wifi calling after installing the 6.0.1 MM? Is there a security or other update that I now need to install to get this feature? I installed the Jasmine v6 rom, if that makes any difference. Is there a way I can install 7.0 Nougat on this device, and would it likely provide the wifi calling feature or likely be a waste of time and effort?
I'm using Safelink with my Verizon phone, but they are no help, though they do say they support wifi calling as long as I can enable it on the phone. Is it possible Verizon could tell me what I need even though I don't have service with them but do use their towers?
Sorry for so many questions, I just really need wifi calling and can't understand why I don't have the option for it using 6.0.1.
I found an app named WiFi Calling while browsing through my phone directory. It looks like a system file, so shouldn't that mean the phone should have it? Is my Jasmine ROM keeping it from working or is it likely something else?
I'm now using Jasmine v7, if that makes any difference.

I tried to do the same for my wife since she has the same exact phone running 5.1.1 with root. Everything appeared to be going fine, but after performing the last step (flashing the N910VVRU2CQL1_PartialFirmware_DevEd.tar.md5.7z via Odin) and rebooting the phone, it now goes into a boot loop. It will load the Samsung logo for about 20-30 seconds, then reboot every time. I can still access TWRP from recovery and I have cleared Dalvik and Cache, but it still does the same thing. I also reflashed JasmineROM_v7.0_N910VVRU2CPF3, cleared Dalvik and Cache again, but still the same boot loop. It does still show the word Custom under the Samsung logo at boot, so I assume that is good news. Doesn't that mean the bootloader is still unlocked or something?
If it helps, the part of the process that had me concerned was after unlocking the bootloader. I powered off the phone, and then tried to load the recovery menu so I could factory reset the phone and clear the cache, but the recovery menu never appeared. It did show the Android fix-it guy for the recovery for about 10 seconds then a short progress bar under it for about 5 seconds, then it went straight to the Samsung logo. It never did give me the actual recovery menu, just the Android fix-it guy animation, which I thought was odd because I've always had the recovery menu pop up after that.
I made a complete backup using TWRP before attempting this upgrade. So, can I just restore it or are there other steps I need to perform before I attempt to revert back?
Did you ever get this resolved? I have been having an issue since mid-July where my phone does not send or receive texts or calls within half a mile radius of my office but otherwise works great everywhere else. I don't have to be in the building...I can be standing in the parking lot, parked at a nearby building/area, or driving down the street in vicinity of the area and nothing. When I try to send a text, I get a message stating there's no service. When I try to call, the phone goes from 4G with four bars to 4G with zero bars and is stuck on "dialing". When I end the call, it goes back up to four bars.
I have tried contacting Verizon many times and they tell me I need to enable WiFi calling but I don't have the Advanced Calling option in my settings. I am also running 5.1.1 on a rooted SM-N910V. Today when I spoke to them, they told me that even though my phone shows 4G, I really only had 1G service. I find this explanation ridiculous because if this was the case, I would have problems in other areas too and not just in the middle of the 8th largest urbanized area in Louisiana (while elsewhere in the same urbanized area, the phone works great). They told me I needed to do a system update which will cause me to lose root.
So, hi everyone I'm new but i think this is where I can post this. I'm helping a friend that did a lot of things to his J5 prime, here is what he told me:
"Ok so what I did is test a lot of Roms, evolution X, RR remix, octaviOS, nevapureOS, cynedragon, and some more, those ones are not in .zip, those are generic, so I needed to change the vendor and kebab, after I tried those, I changed to Android 12, then after testing on it for a bit, I tried changing it to try other ones, but when I tried to boot, it was looped, like, only the TWRP logo appeared, and nothing more, and so I tried to flash the stock ROM, but it didn't work, it said "Binary 9", so I tried with a binary 9 ROM (android 8). So I flashed the stock ROM, and I needed to wait until it unlocks the "Safe Mode", I waited something around a month, and the switch didn't appear, I also tried to go into the TWRP from ADB boot, it goes to a strange version of the download mode, like, the download logo appears, but the words that normally are in the top-left corner, are gone, and Soo, that's where I let the phone".
We tried flashing the TWRP, but, when we tried this appears: (img 1 & 2)
Please help, in like, one week he needs to give the phone to his sister and it would be bad for him to give the phone in that state (She knows about that stuff and we'll, she will check for sure).

I've searched and found a thing called "Triangle Away", some say that it can downgrade binaries (which I've found is the problem of this)
Make sure developer mode and usb debugging is disabled.
--This new method worked for me and about 4 other guys with G570M--
Step 1: Wait for 168 hours
Step 2: Go to Date/Time settings and change the date to 05/05/2021.
Step 3: Restart and go to recovery and clear the cache
Step 4: When you turn on the device, make sure wifi is enabled and connected to some network, go to the update tab and disable auto update
Step 5: Click several times on the manual update button
Step 6: Go to developer settings and the oem should be there

I believe there is a trick to fool the device.
Remove SIM and perform a factory reset.
During setup, do not connect to a WiFi network.
Skip through setup and set time manually. Don't bother adding any accounts.
Once setup is complete, enable Developer Options.
Go into Date/TIme settings and set the date for 1 week minimum from today.
Go back into Developer Options and check if OEM Unlocking is available. If not, give it a few minutes and check again.
