One Click Root - G930PVPU6BRD2? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Found this in my recent searches and exploring. Has anyone tried it? Last I understood they were a pretty great source for root access. Even featured here I believe.
Let me know if anyone tries it. Thanks!

Not sure this will work. This method was mentioned a while back and didn't work, unless they know about a loop hope no one else has discovered. Our s7 requires the engboot to gain root access. I'm not on this firmware, but I'd be curious. I would just have a b6 firmware ready for Odin before trying.

I'm successfully rooted on the U firmware and will not be flashing anything anytime soon lol. Or else I would try it.
But one click root usually works by taking advantage of exploits already in the code. For instance, say the there's a system app that executes something as root in the /data directory, they take advantage of that and have that executable do something like install root. Very poor example but it's basically the gist of it.
I wouldn't be surprised if it worked. I really hope someone tries it!

I don't know if it's helpful, but I simply went into SuperSU and DENIED "My Verizon" root access. Not sure if that'll accomplish the same thing as installing a version of MyVZW that is "pre-root requesting."

True but I haven't felt 100% fully comfy with the latest version. Thankfully it still works just fine with by passing the root access request but it still makes me a bit weary if you know what I mean.

root and lollipop

UPDATED:
Please jump to the following thread for information on root/lollipop:

There's some misinformation going around concerning lollipop (android 5.0), root, and the SHIELD tablet. I'm posting this (redundant) information to (hopefully) clear things up and prevent someone from causing themselves a headache after the tablet updates...
nvidia has stuck very close to AOSP in their tablet firmware updates, so it's a reasonable assumption (at this point) that the new firmware will also be very close to AOSP.
If that comes to be, then "rooting" the tablet will be more difficult than in previous firmware updates. Most of the gory details can be found in this G+ article by @Chainfire : https://plus.google.com/113517319477420052449/posts/VxjfYJnZAXP
(BTW, as always, a huge thanks to Chainfire for his efforts. If you haven't already, paying for the upgrade to "SuperSU Pro" is well worth the price if for no other reason than to encourage Chainfire to continue work on that project.)
If you don't understand the details of that post from chainfire, I'll try to summarize it: Even if you manage to get a copy of the "su" binary on your system partition (which is essentially the goal of all the older root exploits), it won't matter much in Android 5.0. In Android 5.0, we'll ALSO need a part of the kernel image changed (the ramdisk) so that a part of "superSU" can run at a more permissive context.
Updating the kernel ramdisk shouldn't be too difficult (if its compressed with the kernel in a normal way) once we have the image to play with. As well, in order to put the newly modified kernel image in place, a person would have to unlock their bootloader (which can void your warranty.)
Actually, it's possible (once the image is released by nvidia) that @Chainfire will stick the image on his server in one of his very easy to use "CF-Auto-Root" bundles. (Hopefully, all the @ references I've made will get him to look at this thread and confirm what I've said. The honest truth is that I'm NOT familiar with SELinux, so I'd have to do a bit of experimenting to get this working.)
Take care
Gary

Have you found any specifics on what will need to be modified in the ramdisk? I haven't really done anything with the boot.img itself but I'd be interested to see what is going on with this.

It seems to be. Only problem I have run into is that FX file explorer root mode doesn't seem to work, but ES does so I think it's an app compatibility with 5.0 thing rather than a problem with root.

Awesome, I use FolderMount to link my obb files from the sd card to the main so that my largest game files are all on my sd card. I actually have the premium version so I just link my whole obb folder and data folder but I would guess linking any obb and then seeing if the game would load would test it. As for Titanium a backup/delete/restore of any app would test all of the features. Thanks for checking that out

Folder Mount - Made a link from internal to external and the link seemed to be working correctly (files put in one showed up in the other)
Titanium - Backed-up, uninstalled, and restored Netflix successfully with no errors

I was starting to wonder how I was the only person (or at least the first) to have that idea.
So I already installed the update for lollipop. Although I was rooted using towelroot, I never installed CWM or unlocked my bootloader. Is it too late to follow the instructions to unlock my bootloader at this point? Do I need to just wait for another root method?

[Q] SM-T530NU not full root help

It's the 10.1 inch
I just rooted my tablet today and gained su.
I can give apps su. I get the give su prompt box.
I used the Odin method from this site by chainfire.
Now I managed to kill knox. I closed and un-installed all 6 knox stuff with titanium backup. I did create a back up file for all of them but I don't think you can restore them.
I need busy box for some of my root apps to function because I need the killall.
For some reason busy box gets error message saying there might be a problem with my root.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I had the same issue on the SM-T530NU rooted using the Odin/chainfire method (I assume you're referring to the Play Store busybox app). The problem went away for me when I installed and ran Root Browser, which installs components of busybox on its own. After installing and running root browser once (follow the setup prompts), and then rebooting the tablet, I was able to run the original busybox installer app with no issues. No idea if this'll work for you but since it was the exact same set of circumstances, hopefully it will.
With custom recoveries available, cf autorooot isn't really needed.
At some point you are going to trip knox. But if you have successfully disabled knox, go ahead and flash
a custom recovery. Then flash chainfire's latest supersu update zip. Then find your busybkox install via market
or a custom binary.
If custom binary, push it to /system/xbin, then open terminal and su, then
mount -o remount,rw /system
chmod 755 /system/xbin/busybox
busybox --install -s /system/xbin
reboot

SM-T530NU is mine. That's what you needed right?
Now will I be able to unroot my device to play a game that won't run if I'm rooted?
Or is there a way I can run it and still keep my root?
I used the chainfires way of rooting and I just did the superuser unroot.
I went to the Samsung website and got the stock file for my device which is like 1.2 or so gb.
Can I put that back on my device and then wouldn't I be completely unrooted?
Also I used titanium backup to remove all the knox files while I had root.
Will this be a problem when I flash over my Samsung file I downloaded from the Samsung site?
I want to have full root but still be able to play this game ragnarok. Can it be done? Oh and using that lame hide my root from the Google play store didn't work. I hide the su binary and removed the suapp and it didn't work.

And what about my other questions? Can I hide the fact I have root? How?
What about if I want to unroot it? Will it be fully unrooted? How?
What if after I root it and then unroot it, can I root it another time? How and will it cause problems?
Is there a program like macro touch that I can use without root?
I feel that my questions are very simple and straightforward could someone answer them?

Jesus Christ dude are you illiterate I was providing a link to the other guy to root his tablet. But yes please, get me banned. Sic the internet police on me for all I care. You want your answers questioned? There are two invaluable tools just waiting to help you find your answers. They're called the xda search button, and google. You're a human being living in an age where we have the most immediate access to just about any information imaginable. I have around a dozen devices all rooted using a variety of methods and I am able to install and run any program on any one that I darn well please. If you're really going to tool around and hem and haw about a bunch of apps I don't know that I can help you.
You have the SM-T530NU? Fine, this is a surefire way to root your tablet. HOWEVER, in doing so you will trip knox, thereby voiding your warranty. If you don't understand that sentence, I revisit my earlier point of READ. Learn on your own, that's what I've done. But stop coming at me with your confrontational language, especially coming from a position of such a persistent insufficiency in knowledge and a lack of the motivation to rectify that shortcoming on your own.

You can unroot in SuperSU. It's an option called "unroot"
Yes it will be unrooted. Or you can just reflash system firmware.
I don't foresee any problems with rooting, unrooting, and then even re-rooting your tablet but even so if problems arose (which they probably wouldn't) there are ways to wipe/reset the tablet.
I don't know what macro touch is. Use google, the play store, xda, etc. to search for apps.

Yes, I have remained rooted, but I ended up going back to stock G935A and then rooting again with that procedure. Personally, I was not getting the performance I was used to with the G935U as I was with the G935A with the root procedure.
Yes, there are some things that do not work with these eng.imgs that are being used to root the phones. There is NO Xposed for this one, Samsung Pay does not work, but I have been using Android Pay and it works just fine. As for the Bootloader, it is still LOCKED. There has not been any Unlocked bootloaders for the G935 or G930 so far and I don't think we will see it anytime soon.
As for Undoing, yes. There is a very simple way to go back to stock with Odin. In fact, about once a month, I return to stock just so I can get the latest security patch and then re-root my phone back to this way. I know it is somewhat of a pain, but with Titanium Back up I can get my phone back to running normally in a couple of hours.
Hope this helps...
It's not quite as fast, but if you are backing up and restoring to the same device, you can just use ADB. I still have a TiBu license, and use it on my Tab S2, but I have largely adapted to not having root on my S7 by taking advantage of basic ADB features.

What I meant was Xposed doesn't work on the current version of root using the eng.img. I have not tried using the NEW Xposed that is in THIS thread. I have looked at it but have not had a chance to run the zipped file and installing it. I know it works with MM as I had it working GREAT with MM and the eng.img with that version. I love Xposed and wish that was available for Nougat and N's root. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be fully implemented soon.

I tried this 4 times and failed. The problem is it just keeps rebooting (about every 45 to 60 seconds) after I flash the eng boot img. Im never able to run adb commands. If I start from a clean slate I can't even make it past the setup screens to enable debugging.
I'm reaching out to you because you succeeded with the same model SM-G935U
So I'm just seeing if you have any insights. My phone should be the same as yours. Only difference is mine came with 7.0 preinstalled. Maybe an earlier firmware? But that doesn't make sense because people are, to my understanding, using the eng boot with recent firmware.
I'll repost in the root thread if I need to but thought I'd see if you have anything to offer. Thanks

Thanks

I seem to remember the constant rebooting on the U-Firmware also. I too kept trying and it finally took. I think I would take the OTA from the server and try to install the eng.img with Odin. When you do this, does Odin give you any errors? Or does it succeed at the installation?
It has been a few months since I rooted the U-Firmware so not for sure what fixed the rooting process. Sorry I couldn't be more help...

Thanks. No Odin works perfectly whether I flash eng boot or stock.
I looked at the root guide for Sprint and the process is a lot more involved. I believe he boots to recovery twice and wipes cache plus factory reset twice. He also stresses to get the root.bat run quickly to avoid bootloop.
Might be worth a shot but the process of running Odin, getting back to stock and restoring all my data winds up being close to a few hours so It'd be very helpful to find someone with the same issue as me who was able to resolve it.

Need help rooting an LG V20 h91810s?

So I am interested in rooting my LG V20 h91810s. From what I gather I have to roll it back to 10j or i. I have the bootloader unlocked already. But I'm not sure about the rollback. Will a factory reset take it back to 10j or 10i? If not, I haven't been able to find step by step instructions on doing this. I think once I can get it rolled back I should be able to follow https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/instruction-to-root-h918-10i-t3536472 in order to root it. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
No can do..... You will make your phone into a paper weight.
So there is no way to root it? I need to root it in order to recover some very important texts. If it can't be rooted does anyone know how I could recover a deleted sms thread?
Thread title changed on OP's request
Thank you very much.
As of right now anything 10p or higher is ARB01. Which means you can't roll back to root. Trying will create a brick. There are people working hard to make it happen but until then it's a waiting game. As for the recovery of SMS hopefully someone can help you. Chances are if you've searched and searched for an answer with no luck, it'll be hard to get that answer here. But you never know. Good luck.
Ah, that sucks. Well tyvm anyway.
We are both on the same boat unfortunately, we'll have to wait patiently.....
Me too waiting to root my h91810s.... hopefully someone will find a method soon.....
Sucks! But I like this phone. It'll be a shame to switch. ?
might be a dumb question but has any of you guys tried kingroot?

Now, when I tried it I did it without boot loader unlocked, not sure I'd that's why it didn't work but if someone wants to try?

Yeah no reason for you to try... Cause of it works we would be rooted Samsung style using flashify instead of twrp.

Care to interpret what exactly they did to root? Where to get files and how to? Maybe this can be changed to English format.....
Just wondering if there's a progress thread for the h91810s exploit. I just received mine and it's on the same firmware.
