Yes, you can flash other countries firmware. Only, you need to make sure that the model number is same. Usually there wont be any issue, but you will lose all of your data and sometimes the carrier of your country won't support the firmware. If unable to latch to a network, then revert to your original firmware.
Well, it's all up to you.

Hello, Im new to this forum and hope not violating any rules..
I just bought Galaxy S4 i9500 and has stock 4.2.2 installed. Cant update to kitkat neither with settings, nor with KIES 2.6/3.
Kies 2.6 says " Your Device's Current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies. " (see attch)
I'm total newbie with these CSC codes and nor googling helped me out with all my questions:
How to make CSC and phone sales codes match safely without flashing official rom?
I bought AFR version S4 designed for Kenya in republic of Georgia (Asia/Europe). There is no firmware designed for Georgia. So does this mean I will never be able to obtain updates OTA or via Kies?
Phone INFO and such apps didnt work coz it couldnt find "preconfig" file.. Does this mean flashing is the only way? Which websites are good for official stock firmwares?

My BB number is : I9500XXUBMG9
Here is my question..
1) Will this baseband region phone ever receive OTA update?
2) if NOT, then should i use services that samfirmware.com offers?
if YES, then can i install official firmware originally created for another baseband? For example can i use Russian I9500XXUGNG3 kitkat on my I9500XXUBMG9 ?
Doesnt it void waranty?
What are the risks of bricking? i mean basebands differ from each other, isnt that problem?
Also Im dissapointed with 2G call voice, sometimes i barely hear caller.. Can this be Baseband problem? I think this bmg9 baseband was originally for IRAQ carriers and im here in Georgia, which doesnt have specific baseband i guess...
I would be extremely grateful to those who answer me in this hard time ^^

Hi mate ,
First thing if you are in 4.2.2 is a shame to upgrade the bootloader..is Knox free
Your official updates most like it are blocked because you do not have the right CSC , download a nice little app from the market call PHONE INFO there it will tell you what your CSC is , this app can also change your CSC as long as it is available in the rom ( if you do backup first changing the CSC will do a factory reset)
Regarding your questions
1 OTA are CSC dependent
2 Samfirmware is good , and reliable you can go that way also
Second part of your questions
1 you can flash firmware for other countries , that is not a problem , BUT you may have problem with what languages are available , specific country services may not be available , no OTA
2 As long as you only flash stock rom (odin) you will not void the warranty
3 Briking is always a risk but when flashing not for different basebands
4 Maybe , for sure the right baseband would help

Alrighty. I dw-ed two apps, both named Phone Info. I just have a questions:
If I change CSC code to USA will I get OTA updates as soon as USA citizens get it? Doesnt it depend that im outside of USA?
Is there any cons for changing CSC?
My country, is not listed in CSC codes.. Is there a way i can always get OTA updates?

Hi,
A knox free bootloader is important if warranty some how is important for you , other wise there are the same
Regarding your first set of questions
1 Not an expert on kies but as long as all the csc inpho match it should , unless there is an issue with kies registration or IP
2 CSC give you country specifics network set ups , differnt countries have different set ups , fastdormancy , special services.......
3 you need to flash a stock rom from your country or region
Yes flashing firmware may change the csc code.
Dear all,
I own a Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) with the following informations
CSC A310FB2X2APD2
Baseband A310FXXU2APC5
Current software A310FXXU2APDA
The phone was provided with a car type Seat Leon Connect which supports Android Auto. I live in Germany. As you might recognize, the CSC code B2X is a bit uncommon, but related to the "Seat edition" of the phone.
Now I have the problem that the phone is on a quite old software version (Android 5.1.1 with Security Updates of May 2016) and the phone does not find updates via OTA or Smart Switch. Several calls to the provider (Seat) and Samsung revealed that there is confusion how and when the last updates that were published for the A3 (2016) series will arrive for that specific model. As the phone provided has a Spanish country code, I was finally forwarded to Samsung Spain who told me I should simply search for updates. Which I obviously did.
As Samsung Germany told me that a spanish model would only do OTA updates when having a spanish IP, I even used a spanish proxy to look for updates, but without success.
I tried to change my CSC to the german DBT using the *#272# command, but it just tells me that the command did not succeed. There is an app called "Phone *INFO* Samsung" that tells me my CSC is E01 where E01, E02, E03, E04 and E04 are available in the firmware. This is confusing since this "E0x" is no known CSC country/provider code. So no way to simply switch the phone to DBT and german software updates.
I have the feeling, I will never be able to receive official updates...
So I have a couple of questions:
I'm coming from a Windows Mobile 10 phone where updates came nearly on a monthly base. Plus, the platform was never subject to hacking attacks due to only few devices. How critical is it to stay with the old software from a security point of view? Note, I only download software from the Play Store, but I am surfing the web a lot.
Is it true that a spanish IP is required for OTA updates or Smart Switch to find the update for the spanish phone?
As it is likely that I won't get offcial updates, I am willing to flash the german DBT firmware of December 2016 (say, from updato.com) using ODIN. Will I be able to receive OTA or Smart Switch updates in the future based on that, and therefore stay on a regular update path? I read that CSC and/or product code may be an issue.
Is there a way to ensure that the firmware I download from updato.com is really the official firmware? I am very sceptical about security and modified ROMs as I use the phone for business purposes. I informed myself a bit on the KNOX software installed on Samsung phones. Is it right that KNOX is able to check the originality of the firmware being flashed and therefore should increase the "Warranty void" counter in case the firmware is NOT original? Is there another way to check originality in advance before flashing?
Will I have to care for changing CSC and/or product code after flashing?
Most important: Say, I do the flashing to DBT firmware and for some reason, I need the original firmware back. Is there a way to return to the original Seat firmware? As it is available nowhere for download, I would have to use Smart Switch. Will I be able to connect the phone and simply put it to factory state (including the CSC code)?
Sorry for this long list and possibly dumb questions, but I am really unsure how to proceed.
Thanks for helping!
Tobias

Hi tys0n,
yes, it is exactly the same version.
Here's the firmware. http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=528B238FC03811E6B04AFA163EE8F90B
NOTE: U2 (marked in red) is the binary number. Bootloader should also be U2.
Since this seems to be a very specific firmware I just want to give a little varning.
Don't update to U3 if you ever plan to flash back to any U2 firmware (including this one).
Updated bootloader to U3 won't allow downgrade of itself to U2, and old modems won't work with updated bootloader.
There's a good chance that you'll end up with no signal or lost imei if you try to downgrade from U3 to U2.
Country/RegionEurope 02
Product CodeE02
OS VersionLollipop(Android 5.1.1)

Hello,
I'm also exactly on the same situation... does anyone found a solution to upgrade to latest Android version / way to proceed ?
Thanks
Update: I finally managed to flash my Rom with a U3 firmware (Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 FR), see phonandroid.com and the tuto for installing a310fxxu3bqc2-xef on a Galaxy-a3-sm-a310f

Flashing using ODIN is the only method that I know of. It's very easy and I didn't even lose my data. Doesn't void warranty too. There are YouTube guides which can help you too.

It's a multi CSC package. Common firmware for both India and UAE.
Guys, I have the exact same problem as described. I too am stuck on firmware ending with AQEB. My CSC code is INS and CSC Version is G950FOXM1AQEB. Real confusion is to determine which firmware to patch. Can I patch Indian firmware or continue with UAE based firmware? Will it void warranty? How to ensure that I don't have to factory reset the device?

Your original CSC ought to be XSG(UAE). Nevertheless, since you've flashed the SLK firmware, there is no need of worry. By the way, you may not be getting new update since the firmware might be already latest, as last update to Sri Lankan firmware arrived way back in January. Just see the attachment.

You'll get updates, provided Samsung releases a new one in the UAE region. Which I think won't probably happen as Galaxy J5's two year support period is nearly over.
Nevertheless, I'd recommend you to change the CSC to INS(INDIA) by dialing *#272*imei 1# on your phone dialer and then choosing INS as the Sales code. Keep in mind that by doing so your device'll reboot and wipe all the datas.
As far as I know, J500F used to get more frequent updates in India than any other country.
Tnx.
Hi
Which android version do you have?
J5 is not getting many updates. After the 6.0.1 update there may not be anymore.
Plus if your phone is not official then it wont get any more updates.
Since October 2018 I stopped receiving updates via OTA. I'm thinking about updating the phone with Odin but I don't want to trip Knox so I don't really know what version of the Rom to install.
My S8 is a SM-G950F unlocked with CSC - DBT, that's all I know. And when I check for updates it says: Current version: G950FXUU4CRJ5/G950FOXM4CRJ3/G950FXXU4CRI9.
What rom do I need to flash?

Have you tried manual update in settings?
You could also try Samsung's smart switch to update to latest version.
If you want to download firmware and use Odin then use either sammobile.com or updato.com. or samfirm.
Using Odin to flash official stock rom will not trip your Knox.
I normally use updato for my firmware or samfirm
https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model
Latest version I think for Germany DBT is G950FXXU4DSCB ( March ) android version 9 (pie).
I've tried manual update and Smart Switch too and no success. It says I'm on the latest update. I guess I'll try Odin and flash Pie.
I am also facing the same issue. Mine is SM-G950FD. I bought it online, not from official channels. How about you? I have a small suspicion if Samsung is blacklisting phones purchased unofficially. I hope I am wrong.
Well I bought mine from Amazon Germany from a verified seller and for a few months I received updates, but since October 2018 no more. Why would they blacklist my phone?
Sorry. I didn't mean to imply that they are blacklisting. I was just being a bit paranoid thinking may be Samsung blacklisted my phone since I bought it unofficially.
I have a new theory. Looks like many people who bought phones from one country (UAE in particular) had their phone sensors bricked after an OTA update while they were in a different country. That may explain why Samsung is not updating my phone (mine is from UAE).
