Charging speed - Moto Z3 Play Real Life Review

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Moto Z3 Play can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I just got the phone yesterday, and battery was at 40% while the battery mod was completely empty. It took 4 hours to fully charge phone and mod for the first time. As of this writing, with light use, my battery mod is empty and my phone is at 60%. I will see when and how long it takes to fully charge the phone later this evening.

The z3 play charges using USB PD 5 volts 3 amps, 15 watt per hour.
Here's a screenshot of my z2 play, which charges at the same speeds, because it uses the same technology.

Sorry for the delay. The app is called 3c Toolbox, it's like AIDA64 but for Androids. I tell you, the dev @3c is a super nice guy. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.at.free
It works with and without root access, with root it gives you super advanced features and plenty more options.

Thanks for the heads up! Do you have your battery monitoring set to always run in the background? (Just asking since it asked me when installing and on first setup.)

i don't remember, but this screenshot should suffice, lemme know if not.

That was all i needed. Thank you for the help Heynando!

My z3 play can literally charge from 0 to 100 in about 38 minutes or so.. is that normal? I think there's a software glitch.

Battery drains fast and problems with charger

Hi,
after I overclocked my device and used custom ROM to reduce lag the battery was drains fast and overheat and I used the factory image(in android 4.3) to get the stock kernel and stock ROM my device not overheat anymore but still drains fast and the charger sometimes when my device is on charges slooowly and sometimes while it plugged in it don't charge it decrease 1 percent and stop charging while playing any game and the charger smell like burnt and it charge first while my device is off but that didn't happen to me before the overclock,
I want to know I there are way to increase battery life and fix the charger problem,
Thanks.

A Few Apps For Battery Life
There are a couple things I would do, first is you need to monitor what is draining the battery. One thing to note though is your OC is obviously going to drain the battery quicker than stock and your governor setting could also affect this a lot. I am guessing your custom ROM has a non-stock kernel with it, if not I would recommend Franco's Kernel (r75 is the latest) and he even has an app that will keep you updated and flash for you (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.kernel&hl=en) there is also a free version of that. Franco's paid app has a built in power settings option that lets you adjust power usage per app that could be extremely useful in your case. However I would do some monitoring first and make sure a live wallpaper or a hardware monitor is not draining more battery than you think it is.
I've used these two apps and both do a great job of letting you know what is using the battery most during load/idle/sleep:
Better Battery Stats:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats&hl=en
Go Power Master:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex.gowidget.gopowermaster
Android Tuner (does A LOT for the price, including battery monitoring), If you are rooted this is almost a must buy:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.at&hl=en
Also in Android Tuner and I think Better Battery Stats (I've uninstalled it since I got Android Tuner) there is an option to turn on a fast charge option. Fast Charge will decrease the time to charge the battery, however I haven't used this feature because it sounds like there must be a catch (more power to the battery quicker isn't going to be at stock spec power delivery from charger to battery). If my N7 was having trouble charging, I might consider it.
Really the first thing you need to do is install one of the monitoring apps and watch what is using your battery the most and if something is using it a lot that you didn't even realize. I was using UseMon to monitor and it was using 36% of my total battery usage, so I ditched it.
Then you have some things you can do to save your Battery
You have Juice Defender which has some great options in it if you are draining the battery too quickly:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.latedroid.juicedefender&hl=en
It comes in 3 versions Free, Plus and Ultimate.
One of my Favorites that saves the battery is Lux Dash:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vito.lux&hl=en
There is also a free version, but this is easily worth the few bucks. It uses the camera to read the lighting of the environment you are in and based on the ratio you set, will dim or brighten your display. This method trumps any of the built in features, like NVIDIA's option.
Those two apps will help your battery a lot, especially if you also use the monitoring programs to see what is draining the battery so quickly.
You can read this article on some apps for monitoring and increasing battery life: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19736_...s-that-prolong-your-smartphones-battery-life/
and: http://www.talkandroid.com/guides/b...pps-for-analyzing-and-improving-battery-life/
Note these reviews/articles mention a lot of apps I have never tried nor mentioned, so be sure to read instructions on use carefully.
If this helped you at all please don't forget to give me a Thanks

Just restart your N7. The battery draining issue would go away for about 5 days. This trick works for me

Yeah first time I see a request like this..reverse gear
You might be able to turn it off in kernel settings via a kernel manager app. But the OS doesn't have this option. That said, I would just leave it enabled. There's a lot of talk about batteries losing their charge overtime but you'll be on a new device after 2 years or so anyways so I wouldn't worry about it.

I mean you arent supposed to use the device while it charges since it wears down the battery. You could always just use a different brick and reduce the power input.

Yeah just get a non quick charge block. Problem solved. The way I look at it is the phone will be replaced before the battery wears down. I paid 279 and if it lasts a year that's all I need.

LG-H990N Rooting Question for Websites for one click Rooting

Shalom all of you, Sons of Adam and Noah.
I found these 3 websites for rooting and I wondered if anyone tried any of them?

I don't want to end up with problems if I try rooting my device so I would like some feedback on it if anyone tried I'm eating Oats at the moment, so I don't want to get into issues and fights with the mobile that broke my bank account. Iv heard that some stuff may not work if you root the V20 - if anyone has experience on that part I would like to know.

Why would Kingoapp say they did root it if not? I'm not sure about the bootloader, but if one can get root without twrp with Kingoapp and get Root and fire up Adaway that would be nice. It seems it's the only real option for getting adds away. I'm so tired of the lockings and adds. *Sigh*
I think I found one solution without rooting it seems that Adblock Plus is running in the backgrond is not working as it should tested in Chrome and on Fly mode with Network connection were it should work with localhost and port 2020 *I think it was*. So I installed Adblock Browser and it worked with removing adds but had issue with Youtube, because it opened the program from youtube which took me some time to find out what was going on. I thought I was still running in the browser but nope! I don't know why it wants to open up in youtube iv not referred or confirmed that it should do it to my knowledge and that is not ad free for sure.
So I found out I could "uninstall" the Youtube app *I don't really think you can make a full uninstall of youtube, but at least it seems as it turns it off and looks like it can quickly be turned on again if one likes in apps*
And it now it plays from the Browser as it should - so I'm testing if it plays ads on youtube now. Hopefully not but it seems there is this unnecessary fight to push on people things they don't want!
I have another Browser as well - but it seems Adblock browser may be the best choice. And for now, may Jehovah Bless you and keep you il continue testing.
*Sigh* close to a need for battery charge. Like charging this 3 times a day.
I wonder why with all that Super charge 3 or what it's called - my old note 2 N7105 rooted charged with 2000 mAh using it or not. But this new phone is only sucking around 150-800 mAh when one is using the phone when charging. Sure it reaches som over 2500 mAh some times when it's charging when in sleep mode but then you cant use it.
So I'm not sure what this fuss is all about in regards of Super charge 3 and faster charging time. I'm not impressed seeing how low a charge I have if I use it at the same time.
A full charge I think takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes if in sleep mode.
Looks like it will not play all youtube videos, iv not had any ads or commercial yet - but I run into a video it won't run in the adblock browser itself.
Il continue testing and see were it gets me
Also in adblock you can play youtube video and have it play in the background and do other things.

Because Kingoapp want's everyone to browse their sponsored website and download the app so they can profit from click baits and ads. Though their app works for cheap chinese smarphones, it will fail if you try it on your V20 device. remember if you can't see a valid post from XDA that it actually works then their claims are not reliable.
So, I just tested my old Phone with my 2 Battery packs and the old and new charger and it says 2000 mAh with all of them using application Ampere to measure.
But on the new phone it's way far lower then those readings.
But the V20 just stays on the low end and I have 5 programs doing the measure which looks to record the same thing. If you use the phone it's around 500 mAh or less. If your in the look screen or sleeping you may get it to around 1500 mAh with the 2 Battery packs and the old Charger.
I'm not going to do the math and do some calculations on the size of the battery and the time it takes to charge it - but if the numbers are correct I don't see much improvement on this technology that tend to be very low in charging when using the phone at the same time. It may also be effected by how hot the phone is, iv seen the charging going pretty low when it becomes a hand warmer when using it and then charging would take a very long time - but even when it's cold it's in the low end of around 500 mAh.
The only positive thing is when it's not being used and it kicks into around 2500 mAh but that is not all of the time charging. Not that I tend to use the phone much when I charge it - but if one was sitting in the train and wanted to give it some quick juice to the phone and meanwhile using it - it would not be an amazing result. One would need a longer trip really get something out of it.
The result may be in error in regards of numbers, we know the battery has 3200 mAh and it takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes I think it was to make a full charge when not in use. So one could do the math.
It seems like the charging is lower in around the last 20% of the V20 phone. Now at 96% and 744 mAh and just some minutes ago it was around 900 mAh.
Whatchu talking bout, Willis?
Is this a question about rooting or a oddly worded rant?
I am perplexed.
Can you send me a private message

[app] [rom] battery life extending and low draining roms

To avoid early batterie break it's everywhere recommended to charge not up to 100% and also not discharge low to 0%.
1. I've used some years battery charging limit:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slash.batterychargelimit
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/root-battery-charge-limit-t3557002
But I can't get it work on mi9
2. Now I'm using ACCA
https://github.com/MatteCarra/AccA
It's working with power supply but it don't work with wireless charging. Is there someone who knows a solution ?
Please post here all apps which are able to start stop charging at adjustable levels.
3. Thread is also open now for tips and tricks for low draining ROMs and mods like lkt, fde.ai,kernel optimization.
Here you'll find the statement for my actually installed ROM:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80213469&postcount=13
I use Battery Charge Limit, It works fine (stopping at 75% both in wired and wireless charging). Version 1.1.1

Hi
Here in this thread we're discussing how to extend battery life with charging settings not for the daily usage time.
But if your rooted like my mi9 transparent with revolution os you can freeze some miui apps and and other bloadware and you can make fine adjustings in build.prop
I didn't like battery saver apps. Only one for me is good : leandroid apk
In the moment I've got only 3% discharge over night. And SOT around 7 hours (not completely tested in case of only 3 days usage of revolution mod)
My free RAM is around 5.3 GB
I'm using automatic brightness mod v4
Have a look here:

Use auto brightness but you may have to push it up at times to get it to a level of your liking or I do.
I use mine hard and get great life. But it depends on which ROM you have and what update you have installed as they had issues with a few as I did myself.
I have EU global stable 10.2.28.0
I get 17hrs with 9hrs being SOT before I charge normally.
I can get over 11hrs straight SOT.
I've gotten 31hrs with 6hrs 23min SOT.
I consider that excellent especially for how I use mine doing a lot of videos and watch a lot of YouTube as well as movies with it

I have stock, I have not changed what the factory provided. Just going off there updates but I was about to and I will in the future. But it automatically kills your warranty so I didn't do it yet not that it really matters.
But I have WiFi connected at the house along with LTE not 4g which they are pretty much the same.
But it says LTE.
It's the first time I ever heard I shouldn't charge my phone to 100%. Can someone direct me to an explanation for this? (I knew already about not letting it go to 0%)

ROM with adjustable charging percentage
Hi guys
I'm now on Syberia 2.8 with evira kernel and lkt and its nearly perfect for me.
The best is that already a charging controller is implemented and the battery is also low stressed in case of a good power management. Over night around 2% discharge and SOT around 7 hours (mixed usage in dark and sun with velis autobrightness)
Only AI button and directly unlock by fingerprint isn't implemented at the moment.
But there is a flip to mute ringtone, call recording, long screenshot, full gesture control with back on swipe from right and or left side..... And much more....

Not anymore, better read up on there policies. Also when you do that you loose your updates. You will no longer be eligible for factory updates but I know that really shouldn't matter because you can do it yourself at that point.

8.replace new battery
9.switch it off for 24hours(not even lose 1%)
i'm ran out of idea now
if anybody know what wrong with this phone please help me
sorry for my english ><
You might need to take it somewhere and have a tech look at it or contact Samsung on it or claim warranty with Samsung.
See if it does it in safe mode.
Probably a rogue apk(s)... a software issue.
okay i'm going to give a try on safe mode
it's still there losing a about 15% over 5 hours on idle.
Same on my note 10. Battery live just went bad over nigh, exactly 1 year after I bough the phone. So I guess this is build in to make us upgrade to the next gen phone. I won't even waste my money to replace the battery because I know it won't make any difference. Typical $am$ung

I'm running on Pie with a 10+ so you may have different issues/solutions. One of the big reasons I never upgrade; I have this phone optimized, it's fast, stable, reasonably secure and I like it. Took a lot of time to get to this point.
Lol, I'm still happily running W7x64
Probably a Google apk; Backup Transport*, Google Services Framework and Google Play Services are known offenders.
Try clearing their data.
I package block the first 2 and use Karma Firewall to block GP Services except when I need it for gmail or gmaps.
In Developer options look at running services.
Also in the same look at Standby apps; all buckets should show as active. If not then power management** is active, disable all power management; Android will manage it's self nicely.
Enable only the "Optimized" option for display/cpu and fast charging in Device Care.
Use the factory load version of Device Care if on Pie. Firewall block it though after which use it's system cache cleaner.
Download Galaxy Labs Battery Tracker from the Galaxy store.
Download Karma Firewall from Playstore.
Consider using this: https://www.packagedisabler.com/
*turning off backup Transport in goggle settings doesn't stop it and Framework is a dependency of the former I think. It needs blocked too and will still show as running but at a very reduce amount.
Occasionally even when blocked all 3 need their data cleared to stop excessive battery usage.
**track down the roque apks one by one and deal with them without using power management options.

i completely agree with you
there no point replacing the battery like i did
Li-Ion/Li-Poly can't go bad in just 1 night unless it blow up or something
even my previous note 5 battery can take charge day in day out for over 3years without needing a new battery.

Avoid charging to 100%
Avoid draining below 30%
Never charge battery if temp is below 60F and especially if freezing or below.
Ideal charging start charging temp seems to be about 80-90F
Keep battery temp below 100F whenever possible.
Shut it down or cool it if battery reaches 105F when using it.
Li's like small frequent midrange charge cycles*.
I run between 40-65% normally and fast charge it 3 to 4 times a day.
A charge takes about 10-12 minutes.
I'm at over a year and not seeing any detectable deterioration yet.
*this can extend the battery life by hundreds even thousands of full charge cycles.

Live and learn. Play with it and sort it out.
You could always get it flashed back to the original firmware if worse comes to worst... hopefully that won't be necessary.

agree, this will reduce the stress on the battery except on Note4,that phone just keep asking for new battery every
6-12months no matter what i do.
for me personally i just use it as day in day out like most people do course i don't mind replacing the battery every 1-2 years as long it works the way it should,i mean not the way my S10+ does right now ><

I haven't been a saint with the 10+'a battery but the insults add up if you do it every day.
Likewise being conservative with the charging and temp parameters should too.
It will be interesting how long this battery lasts as I use the phone a lot.
Accubattery to spite it's faults is a good monitoring tool. It's charge reminder is handy and it's milliamp overlay has been useful.
It also logs charge/discharge milliamps and times which is probably the best battery indicator.
speaking of discharge rate, may i know whats your?
mine was like 100ma-150ma on idle off screen thats pretty high even compare to 3 years old device

Disable Android updates. Only update after others have given feedback and you have more to gain than loss. Once you update you may well need to start this witch hunt all over.
Androids are fun to play with... go to it
noted,will do
do you recommended me to rollback to 1st 4 bin Nov firmware or just stick with current firmware?

Depends what you want. If not sure, play with this one for a while.
I'm still running on Pie on my 10+ so I don't bother looking much at updates.
I'm not pleased with Q though so it's a no brainer to stay with Pie. At this point I have near zero issues, it's fast, stable, it does all I need it to do and runs the apps I use well.
