I'm with Bell (Canada.) I was hesitant to root this device as it's a pretty significant investment, but I have rooted my original note with few issues, so I figured it should work as long as I follow every step carefully. Well unfortunately, upon first trying to root it, apps would start updating right at bootup, and SuperSU continuously crashed. So I decided I was just going to restore it to my original state and be done with it for now. Nope. Once I did this, the phone would just enter a boot cycle. (How does restoring my backup place me into a boot cycle?)
The only SM-N900W8 firmware downloads I can find are for south american regions... I have tried one of them and it failed to install. I am a bit panicked at the moment. Is there some crucial step I'm missing here?

If you restored through TWRP there is a good chance that you are softbricked. There are restoring issues that mess with the system partition.
Update: I was able to flash the tar file from inside the zip of mexican firmware through odin (I was trying to install the zip through TWRM before... perhaps you need to install stock firmwares through odin? It's been a while.)
It's not rooted, and the icons are all different looking... but it's back in working condition

I am using the TCE (Mexican) firmware from this link (It won't let me post links since I'm a newly registered account on these forums, but if you google "n900w8 firmware site:samsungis.com" it will be the first result)
I unzipped the file and flashed the tar file within using odin.

You know what.. Me being a dumbass tried again to root it after restoring it to the mexican firmware, and now I have the same problem. And now the restore isn't working this time. Why did it work once and not again? Who knows? I just keep trying to factory reset and reflash the firmware, but I'm getting nothing but bootloops.
Could this be a Knox created problem? The reason I say this is you were able to restore a "new" (unknown to Knox) firmware, but it failed on the second time (as it is now no longer newer). I wonder if you were able to find a firmware with a later number (ex ...H2 rather than ...H1) it would install?

I was trying the Peru one for a while, but it kept hanging up during the bootup. The message was in a foreign language, but I'm assuming it was "initializing". It would initialize for about 3 minutes then an error message would pop up saying something is not responding.

Well I have been trying to. When I flash the firmware in odin, it reinstalls the stock recovery mod. Right after flashing firmware, it won't go into recovery mode on the first boot (first does some android robot install thing, then boots up). I attempted to install the TWRP recovery directly after the firmware, and then booting directly into recovery to factory reset, but I'm still getting a boot loop.

In the beginning, i can use my note 3 n9005 SFR as usual. But once i tried flashing rom, it showed as error (fail) because I chose BL instead of AP. And i tried to fix it by follow the instructions as Mr. Firasusman suggest me as said in the this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2614787. It solved the problem my phone can now get into the normal screen but i found a new problem. I put in sim card but there is no network signal and I also lost imei when i checked in phone status. What should I do to fix this problem? Anyone, please help me. Thanks a lot.

Check whether EFS folder is backed up by flashed rom in sdcard. If your lucky you can use backup file to get imei number back. Few posts also suggest that flashing back stock rom also get back imei. I am not sure of it. Better back up efs to your pc.

What is EFS? After My first flashed firmware, I couldn't get into the normal screen. I even tried to flash back with stock rom via odin, but failed everytimes. I've tried to get back stock rom by using kies, but no luck; and stuck in Odin mode when I turn on my phone.

EFS is a folder in phone's file system which saves your phone model, IMEI number and lot more details, Important folder. Flashing ROM the efs folder got corrupted causing the loss of imei number. Try "radicalisto" reply and update the issue.

That shouldn't have failed, CSC mismatch is not a cause of flash failure. Can you provide more details?
Hm...
Hi guys,
I had an issue similar to this and have no recollection what I did to fix it. I don't even think that I fixed it, ever. Meaning - no stock ROM install for me for months and months now.
I just downloaded some AOSP/TW ROM and flashed. Are you able to get to the custom recovery? Please confirm - I've read somewhere that you can flash stock from custom recovery. I did try a few "PIT" files, with no help.
P.S. I remembered a bit now. I was finally able to flash it through Odin, but entered boot loop. So, no go!
My eyes are on this thread.
Good luck,
Sonny B.

So what happens is i down the firmware from sammobile sure that it was for my model and build number but the csc was of switzerland different than mine next i flashed the rom from 3 different versions of odin starting from v.3.10 it started saying checking md5 file and it was taking too long and we had lost hope then suddenly it said md5 read succesfully and then brought up another dialouge saying setup connection and then cam up with a fail message usb debugging and all the process was done correctly i know this is a late reply but please reply back if you are there thanks

Hi,
I have reported this thread to be moved to the right Q & A section where you might be able to get help quickly.
Good luck.
You flashed a custom rom?
well did you check the bootloader and modem?
example: your old firmwara was based on a coh4 and the new custom is based on coj3.. then you get bootloops.
In this case please download the fitting bl & modem to your rom!

Trying going back to a 5.0.1 firmware
N910PVPU3BOF5 ( I pulled that from N910P) Didn't remember Sprint model number.
So if I'm wrong find the correct model of sammobile and download 5.0.1.
See what that does. Bootloader should not be locked so it should be possible,

I having a similar issue for a few months now. Nobody seems to have a clear answer. I am not a noob and have flashed back to factory a million times on other phones.. I have spent hours trying everything with no luck. Sprint store will not help... pretty frustrating. Let me know if you find a solution.

me too, i also have a bootloop for a couple of months now. tried literally every single combination of bootloaders/modems/kernels/ROMs . i can't even get into recovery, but can get into download mode.
do you guys think trying another battery may seriously help? how could a new battery help getting out of a bootloop if download and/or recovery mode work fine?
I don't think another battery will do anything. I think it is all software. I can flash CM11 btw, so you should try that. But my system is extremely unstable... it works... but is beyond frustrating. my smart watch wont work.. have to restart phone throughout day.... so many problems I cant even list them all.

A battery? How in the world would that help? That makes no sense... no offense, just sounds like you are asking someone to unnecessarily to spend $$$ when it is clearly software.
I'm having the same problems and want to know if op has tried it so I'll know if it's been ruled out of the problem thats why. Ok so it's software. You have the solution. No offense.

Tried already to flash stock and erased everything but still its on my phone.

Thanks for every help !

Smart Switch says that it doesnt support SM-G935FD for initializing and the strange thing is my phone is a SM-G935F not a SM-G935FD (duos) but i'm sure every rom i flashed was for galaxy s7 edge. So one of the roms i flashed changed my phone to SM-G935FD. Am i screwed ? Pls help
If my english is bad pls don't correct me my native language is not english and i'm not using google translate.

Odin3 v3.12.3 and in Samfirm i have put in the model tab SM-G935F and in the Region tab my region code. And i noticed something i don't have an imei and s/n anymore on the phone... :/
I think your problem is with the imei itself which happened by flashing wrong csc in that firmware your flashed check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3379516

I did that already my friend and it didnt work... I think it has to do that my phone thinks i have 2 sim cards and 2 imeis which i never had thats why its bugged and i dont know how to deactivate the 2 sim card function.
Only for some info to you experts out there who want to help me i found out that in the king of nougat rom theres an option which says : "Stk2 - for dual sim variant" i think thats the option that bugged my phone can't i deactivate that with editing a file ? If you guys need more info about my phone i will give you everything just ask me.
Btw thanks for all you guys who tried to help me it gives me hope to recover my phone.
So you only have one correct imei in the imei information and second slot in unknown or you have no imei in both slots?
If you have on correct imei have you tried to turn of second sim card in sim card manager in setting?

Did You flash only AP in odin or all files including CP, BL, CSC?
You should flash all of them.

That's weird. But You could try flashing G935F firmware through odin with pit file. Maybe that would help.

Okay downloading pit file right now i'll tell you if it worked. Yeah for me its also very weird normally it should go away with wiping everything but it didn't.
So now i have flashed the pit file and its still not working.

Flash back to the G935F ROM of your region, and take your phone over to a repair store, give them the IMEI of your phone and the S/N (they'll be written on the box), and tell them to re-flash them. It seems your EFS partition has gone corrupt, when you flashed the wrong file.
I know how you feel, I did the same thing with a phone of mine once, I felt like crap afterwards, don't worry about it. This kinda sh*t happens to all of us. Just be glad nothing else happened and the other hardware still functions correctly.
Good luck bro, and be more careful next time when flashing.

Technically you can fix it, but you'd require some specialist tools that cost a somewhat hefty amount and usually the only people who keep them are phone repair stores.
No matter how much of an expert one can be, without an EFS backup, you can't restore your IMEI. In older phones like the GS4, if your IMEI was wiped with a bad flash, flashing the modem twice and doing a hard reset would bring it back, unfortunately it's not that easy now.
Anyway, mistakes happen bro. Don't worry too much about it. It's annoying to go to a phone store, but just remember, it'll be a lesson in the future for us all. Always make a backup before flashing, anything goes wrong, restore the backup and you'll be safe.
Samsung service center will be able to see that KNOX is void and it's 0x1, so they might charge extra.
For ordinary phone repair or software specialist stores, they won't really care whether it's rooted or not, they'll just use their tool to flash the IMEI and S/N back to your phone.
