This is crazy.
There's an X sign (no data) on Wifi and Cell, if we have a firewall and don't let outgoing for UID 1000 (System). UID 1000 (System) is keep trying to connect to google-servers first, before we can get internet connection.
Is this "unnecessary leaks" happened only on LineageOS-based or all Oreo 8.1 ROMs?
To get internet connection (online): The phone should send something to Google-servers first, we must let outgoing to UID 1000 (System). Even with VPN ON, the UID 1000 (System) must leaks our real IP to Google-servers first. I also heard android design a hole to leak credentials or encryption keys at startup bootlogo. Why like this? It's not fair.
OS: Oreo 8.1
ROM: LineageOS-based
Outgoing IP Address: Google Servers
Proccess ID (UID): 1000 (Android System and many more)
Here's the screenshot.

Interesting. I subbed just to see what the answer roe reason is...
Sent from my pme with LineageOS
I have also noticed that UID 1000 keeps trying to send some packages. Even though I have X sign, I experience no issues when connecting to the internet - Lineage Os 14.1 here. In AFWall+ I have given Internet access only to Firefox.
Where did you find information regarding IP leaks? I would like to learn more about it. Have you tried to sniff outgoing traffic from your android phone during booting?
Thanks

I am using S7 Edge with lineage-14.1-20180517-microG-hero2lte.zip installed.
AFWall+ says that UID 1000 wants to connect to 2 IPs of Google: 172.217.3.195 and 172.217.3.164
What other details should I provide?

That does not appear to be on the "official" Lineage builds roster, BUT there are also (thanks Samsung ) multiple variants of the S7 Edge depending on USA v. EU v. Asia, single v. dual SIM, etc... and my comparable experience with the S6 is that when they said the 920F they did not mean the 920I, G, or anything else, etc... Lots of petty differences between hardware versions which makes it a bigger pain. Sorry I can't do too much more with this one.
Good Luck.
Best bet in my opinion is to send a logcat file to the dev if you can.

Hi everybody, been surfing the forum now as ive got an MDA Vario, unlocked it etc etc using the threads on board.
I've been trying to get my pc wi fi router to work with my phone, but have had no luck as of yet; however last night i came accross a broadband router which i thought was mine, i only used the connection to try pocket msn and look at googles layout on the phone. After a while i noticed i was not getting a 2mb speed and the signal strength was weak, therefore i noticed im using someone elses broadband.
My question is..
is it possible for the person to see my contact details on my pda .e.g my house address, and my home telephone number which is stored on the pda?
no phone has no network shares,
chances are they are ur next door nieghbour anyway lol
so they know where u live
:? so they wouldnt know any of my details?
well i only picked up a very weak signal
I think that the device does identify you with the first name and last name of whatever is set in the "Owner Information" properties. Can someone confirm? Is there a way to change that?
I would assume that rather than owner details, the PDA's "friendly name" would be used.
All moot as regardless of my best efforts I cannot get the thing to even ping, never mind show up on any networking kit I have. As someone has said they have no shares.
I am pretty paranoid about WLAN stuff as I run several and know how easily most are hacked - however, I am not in any form of panic re my Wizard.
It seems to me that PPC's are designed as a client side only system, which does seem sensible coming to think about it.
the only thing that they could trace is any logs on the router, with your IP and MAC address... i would not worry about it too much. the person is obviously stupid enough to NOT secure there network so i doubt they have the brains to trace you.
Thanks for the info guys
could be a honeynet.......
Odds are good that your neighbor can detect that you have been riding on his nickel. I am generalizing, but if they were bright enough to be watching their router logs and dhcp logs for rogue devices connecting then they would likely have also WEP'd their box.
I agree with VAP that the risk of the neighbor prying into your device over the 802.11 seems pretty small.
The "WM_Glenn" device is my TMO MDA

Hello All,
I am starting this thread to start making this program for those who need a stock market application that actually gets all the information you need about your tickers, like: P/E Values, News, Graphs and so on.
All the currently available WONDERFUL applications out there get data from something like Yahoo finance,TF3D Stocks Tab... They work, but all have the following limitations:
You can only get tickers that belong to the US market, where bloomberg can get you ticker information of almost all stock markets on the globe
The data we receive from sources other than bloomberg, are limited to current stock price, its value change and sometimes graphs. Where from bloomberg, you can get all details, like current selling and bidding prices, value traded, P/E values, news, graphs and many more.
Anyone here is welcome to help in or fully develop this application. Currently, bloomberg offers this application for free on iPhones, and people like us, who proudly own a WinMo device, have to pay thousands to get an application from bloomberg themselves and which "MAYBE" has the information mentioned above. So why not make it here. For free, as a proof of concept If you know what i mean.
Suggestion on ideas of how the program would be developed:
I have to check how the sites deals with data, are there any XMLs or what exactly.
Build a basic application that gets these data as needed into an ugly interface.
Find someone here in the community that is willing to help in creating a better interface. Maybe something like the great "TickerTape" program.
Expected Limitations:
The bloomberg site would have no XML data flowing freely for us to fetch. Therefore, this means the program will have to run as a parser.
(ex. Fetch the HTML that bloomberg returns, get it as a string into the application, parse it as needed, and display the values from that HTML. (Problem here is the 30K+ size of this HTML where we actually would need only a couple of bytes.)

Hello guys,
i have a problem. I tried to install Guns'n'Glory WW2 but i cant, cause i get the error message that the item is not compatible with my device.
As you see on my screenshot, i have to xooms, a verizon one (last in list) and a o2 one (first in list). Its not compatible with the o2 one but on the verzzon one.
I preordered the verizon cause in my country it was not available on this time. I dont own it anymore.
I use the Hammerhead ROM, does someone have the same problem? Maybe how to fix it?

I have the problem with a lot of apps, one of them is this one
https://market.android.com/details?...&rdid=com.samsungmobile.unpacked&rdot=1&pli=1
How can i fix it? Please anyone?
have the same problem with some apps. I´m using Timat 2.2 Moray on my German Xoom. A Fix for this problem would be wonderful.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it probably an app-related issue.
App-developers need to set API-level, screen-size and density in the manifest file of their application.
I do receive this error on both my DHD and my Xoom for various apps but didn't found a real fix so far. On approach could be adapting your build.prop to meet the app-requirement but you need to know what to change first. That wouldn't work for wrong API-level ofc.
Rgds,

fix
this issue is a problem..
its not app related as it occurs with lots of apps installed on my xoom when i try to update them.
appbrain is useful to get round the updating issue but i dont know how to fix it for apps that havent been installed yet.
it even happens on apps designed for honeycomb.
i think its related to the build.prop somehow not displaying a valid .dpi signature and thus the market isnt sure what device your using.
may be that anyway.
They can also restrict an app by the locale of the device; since your current Xoom is a .DE model, it's probably been locked out of that market (or, more exactly, the game is allowed only for .US locales).
Ok guys, I have had this issue, and fixed the issue, I an on a wifi only, when I use certain kerrnels, and my device sites on the Andros market Web site, not the app, I get this app not compat, its when the devise shows as a version xoom, which I don't have it is s wifi only. I know what the launchpad kernel cause my problem. Changing to a different kernel fixed my problem, all apps now show as compat.

Thanks for your your post. I have an N9 and hope to try this for fun if I ever get the time... My preference would be to port it to my Note 2 which is also collecting dust (currently using Note 3). Sailfish OS has some nice aspects and the fact that it is gnu linux based and handles multitasking in a more native way than android might draw some folks to it. I think it would really fly high on these threads if someone can come up with a decent port to a high end android device. Until then it may be stuck in the doldrums. for awhile...
btw. I find it ironic that we're talking about a port to a device (N9) which does not have its own section on XDA. (please correct me if I'm wrong here!)
Yes it doesnt have its own section
My SIL uses a Nokia N9... will give it a go when I get some free time.
thread updated
I have made a custom android 6.0 port
I'm still working on it. I just finished my high school and am busy with exams. But I hope to have it on by end of this year or early next year. It has lots of bugs as of now. I can't seem to begin fixing the problem no matter how much I tweak. Main issue still remains with the telemetry and hardware drivers. The camera works without flash. The moment you turn on Flash or leave Flash Auto and snap a pic. The moment the flash goes off, the phone will die immediately. Then Bluetooth doesn't work as of now. So you can only share files via a USB connection or through FTP on common network using a File Explorer with such capabilities. The cellular connection just won't work. I don't have the knowledge to build drivers for it to work. I can't get it to work from extracting the drivers from Sailfish Jolla port. Wifi works but let's be honest it's 2.4 GHz only. It works choppy. At times it'll disconnect automatically for no reason at all. But at least it works. It works well for me. Battery drain is one problem that cannot be fixed. A 1650 mAh battery isn't exactly enough even if you run Android 4.4. So it lasts for 4-5 hrs on standby. It's just for fun. I just wanted to see what it was capable of. And I may decide not to complete this project if the bugs can't be fixed.
Hi volks,
I tried some roms since my warranty period is over.
But I can't find any 100% satisfying right now.
Hevoc was a desaster, lineageos proved better, but there was no fingerprint sensor and huge bettery drain, which is critical for me. The most fitting so far is Pixel experience. But this ROM does not support instant tourch with long pressed powerbutton, which is very useful for me and USB connection to the computer seems corrupt.
So what ROM do you suggest?

Hi @iCuba, the issue answering your question is and will always be highly biased due to individual experiences. That said, my suggestion is to stay on LineageOS 14.1, that's what I use since long time. I do tried version 15 and 16 but I had a couple of issues that were show stoppers: camera not working and too many random reboots.
Tha bad news is that the ROM is not being maintained anymore in XDA, see this thread.
The good news is that you can compile it by yourself and that security patches are still backported, so you will have a certain degree of extra security.
As per my experience, note that I don't use Google Apps in my phone, and I use the phone very seldom. I install a few apps with f-droid and self-host all my services. Also, the fingerprint sensor works, and I have no battery drain at all, check these screenshots, 4 days is very very good for me.

Hi knzor,
thank you very much for your time to create this detailed review of your personal experience with Lineage14.
Since no ROM fitts completely to my needs until now perhaps I will give it a try at the weekend. I hope it is not that difficult to compile my own version of lineage. I lost my interest in computers a few years ago, since one problem creates a nother and updates seems to make things more worse than bevor.
