So I've had my Shield for 2 months and finally settled on an ioGear rf keyboard w/ trackball.
Even though (or maybe because) I have a 65" TV, the pointer size is too small. Have spent well over
2 hours searching the settings and Goggle. Nothing. Am I missing the settings location, izzit not there?
Searched the play store for an apk that would help and found nothing.
Any ideas from the brain trust here? Thanks in advance.
On full Android it's under Settings/Accessibility. Not sure about Android TV (I don't have it loaded ATM.)

I really want to LOVE Vendetta Online, but I tried to play it and the controls seemed really clunky and I could not move around well at all.
I love this type of game, and have played lots like it on PC, and really enjoyed Galaxy on Fire 2 on my tablet. I have no problem with flight controls, throttle, reverse axis (up-down), etc. But with this game I could not fly around to shoot the targets in the tutorial.
I really hope, that I just missed something easy, like a setting, or a different way to do it. Please Help.
P.S. I am sorry if this is not the correct place or thread for this question, I am new to the Ouya forum section.

Hi, I've been a member of the Vendetta Online community for over 10 years (signed up June 2003), and am a guide. Your message tripped an alert for me, and I wanted to offer a brief response; you can play Vendetta Online across all platforms it is available on (PC/Mac/Linux/Android/iOS etc.) with the same character, and interact with everyone else playing the game. This means that if you didn't like the controls on Ouya, you can switch over to PC and continue playing right where you left off.
I myself have an Ouya, but I haven't had a chance to play Vendetta on it, yet. However, I have enjoyed the game for over a decade, and hope you have the chance to, also (or at least for a while ) I would suggest downloading the game onto a different platform and giving it a try that way; you can always come back to the Ouya later (if you choose) without losing any progress.
Let me also add that you can adjust control settings by going to Options -> Controls (this may be under "Advanced Settings" in Ouya).
Any suggestions? Is this one of the elusive FIXES proposed in the next maybe update? :-/

MOJO is outputting in true 1080p whereas most TVs will be applying some scaling - it's usually easily fixed by adjusting a setting on the TV though. What and where that setting is will differ from TV to TV though because they all call it something different. Sometimes it's referred to as a per pixel mode, sometimes it's a PC mode, sometimes it's called Scan Only - usually these options are found in the same menus as the screen format options, sometimes hidden in an advanced menu somewhere.
If you can't find something that adjusts it then let me know the make and model and I'll check out the TV's manual online.

The setting can also sometimes be found under "zoom" (at least on some vizios)

I had this issue on my 42" Viore LED(Cheaper off brand). There is no where in the TV settings that address this issue. So I just hooked it up to my Vizio. Both TVs are native 1080p.

It's highly likely to have an option somewhere to do it. For example on the LG that we've got here in the office the setting you need isn't in any of the format menus. Instead what you have to do is hit the Source button on the remote then press right on the d-pad of the remote to change the HDMI channel you're using from DTV mode to PC Mode.
Some TVs don't have overscan adjustment but here what can be done...

Yes there are some TVs that are set up where either there is no setting to adjust Overscan and Underscan or the setting is only available under certain modes (Such as the Visio VW26L where there is no adjustment under HDMI). Newer mainstream models now include this setting, so just keep this in mind the next time when you shop for you next tv.
As for now, your alt solutions are few. Android builds before 4.3 only address overscan and underscan where it is incorporated into the settings (found on most android sticks) or an app is made targeting a specific device (i.e. EVO, Ouya). You can use an App on the M.O.J.O. called "SecondScreen" on Google Play and change to a slightly higher resolution (i.e. 1280x800). Objects on the left and right will at least come into view, but so far I have been unable to pull in the top and bottom.
Todays stand alone applications manage overscan only for Android Builds 4.3 and higher. I know this isn't the ideal answer you were looking for but I hope you find this information more helpful.
The first thing I see when the Mojo boots up is a message to the tune of change your device resolution. I'm not at all a developer, nor am I well versed in using an android device. I own one cheap Chinese tablet, dragon touch or something similar. Can do the basics, but I mostly use it as a reader. Of course I have a phone, but again I've never gone out of my way to use it for more than a phone. I'm fairly acquainted with Linux so my nephew has turned to me to help him with this. I've the male to male on order to root the system, but I doubt that's much to do with the problem. We have a hard time navigating with certain apps due to the resolution cut off, but mostly not seeing complete gauges in games kind of makes a game machine...a bit crap to say it lightly. For the money one should expect more. I can't find any solution in the setting. When I plug my tablet into my television it handles it with a secondary display GUI popping up and allowing me to choose the setting. Given the Mad Catz is using the TV as it's primary display I wouldn't suppose there'd be a clever way to trick it into thinking the TV is a secondary display? Just the only thing I could come up with I'm not married to the idea. If yous guys know how to help me that'd be great. bonus if this can be taken care of with out getting into terminal, or the android equivalent. Thanks buds.
Oh also, in the mean time while I wait on my cable. Is there a way to install games you've bought on Google Play manually through a usb stick?

Basically, you have to google your TV's make model and find how to turn oversan off.
When I use the MOJO on a PC monitor.. the resolutions drops to something like 320x320.. not sure why.. but I remove the HDMI cable, let the MOJO boot up then I plug the HDMI cable in and it's a 1024.

For free apps, install a google store alternative, ie:
http://joyofandroid.com/24-android-app-store-alternatives-for-those-who-hate-google-play/
I used Aptoide before rooting.
For paid apps, you could try backing up the apk on another device and sideload it on the MOJO.
I wouldn't bother doing either, just wait and root it.
thanks bud

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed.
Some televisions will adjust the picture of M.O.J.O. so that the edges are off screen. To change this, you should check the settings menus of your television and look for Aspect Ratio or Zoom options. Every television is different so the exact method for adjusting will differ from model to model. However, if there's a Zoom level option then setting that to 'Full' should solve it. Alternatively, if it's an Aspect Ratio menu then 'Scan Only' is the option to select.
Be sure to update the firmware on M.O.J.O. if you haven't already. The firmware update introduces a modification to the way Google identifies the M.O.J.O. hardware which allows for many, many more games to be listed and downloadable in the Google Play Store. This modification makes it so you don't have to root the device anymore, unless you want to for the other typical customization benefits that root access allows. Rooting won't void your warranty.
If you went through our "Getting Started" walkthrough, you can use "ES File Manager" for accessing any files stored in your Download folder or on a USB.
With version 6 of the Shield Android TV, there is the updated Google Assistant.
It should allow (voice)control for smart devices like my Philips HUE lamps, but I fail setting it up
It seems that there is/was a menu-option in the Google Home App (for phone/tablet), named 'home automation' where one could link to smart devices (like HUE lights).
After setting it up on your phone or tablet it would become available (linked/detected) on the Shield also.
Alas, I do not get such menu on my phone/tablet and I am unsure why. Is it regio locked somehow or is it Google pushing their own Speaker hardware?
Some help please!
I just tried again and still nothing!
I may be wrong but I don't think the Shield will interface with the Hue on its own...I think you need Google Home in between.
The Google Home interfaces with the Hue Bridge, and the Assistant on the Shield (or any other devices) will route commands through GH to get to Hue.
There might be some changes in Android TV Oreo (right now 6.0 only really added the Assistant, but is still Marshmallow).

From what I learned searching the internet it is indeed like that. Not so long ago it was just a step to link the Hue through Google Home, but the option to go to those settings in the Home app (on phone or tablet) seems to have been removed, or at least for me.
I tried multiple devices. This is why I fear it is due to not owning those new Google Speaker thingies..
I asked on reddit also but somehow others have (had?) access to those settings.
Be need I can screenshot the lack-off

When I speak about google home, I am talking about the device, not the app (I guess it can be confusing!).
But I just read Google's page, and I seem to be wrong, no Google Home (speaker) needed for home control.
I have the google home app on an iPhone (unfortunately), and have access to the "Home control" menu from the hamburger at the top left. Selecting this will open the google assistant app, where I can see my GH, Shield, chromecast etc...Here I can tap + which gives me a long list of compatible devices, including Philips Hue.
What kind of phone are you using?
Excuse the late reply.
I tried multiple devices. Multiple android phones and my pixelc tablet.
The only thing I can think of is a region block (The Netherlands) that hides the menu for home control in the 'google home' software.
I want my startrek voice control for my Hue lamps, boo..
Hi all, wondering if anyone has attempted messing with this unit - found nothing on Google/duckduckgo.
Had it 2ish years, been a glitchy little monster and apps like Hulu show incompatibility (though they are 'preloaded' and on the menu). So far as I can tell the system OS has never been updated and am curious what might be done to refresh it?

Unfortunately most android TV's don't get updates because the manufacturer doesn't take the time or resources to make an update and push it to the TV's.
As for glitches and apps I would try expanding it's memory using a flash drive and moving apps to it and letting the device use it as internal storage. And I'd use a PC or laptop and download the free program called "adb app control" and use the debloat option and clean some stuff off it. I'd also suggest getting a lighter launcher than the default one. There's a few options here -> Link but I like one called dashboard from the playstore. Also install a launcher manager and/or button mapper (both are free). Hopefully some or all of this helps make your tv a little snappier. I have a fairly new Hisense android tv and I did all this and it feels a lot better than stock.
