My phone is no longer booting - Nokia 6 Questions & Answers

So i pretty much screwed up my Nokia 6 TA-1033. Luckily i have another phone spear that i can use in the meantime.
So i was running Oreo 8.1 - May Patch, and silly me thought i'd try root it following instructions to install an OTA update before December.
Long story short it didn't work and i got stuck with my phone booting into recovery.
So this is where things get weird for me and that somehow i got 2 recoveries installed on my phone.
1st recovery: If i powered my phone completely off and then powered on until "NO COMMAND" appears and then entered recovery (Power + VOL UP) Android Recovery shows 8.0.0
2nd Recovery: If i insert USB from PC to Phone and then powered on until "NO COMMAND" appears. I then push and hold (Power + VOL UP) until phone powers off (still hold the buttons), the phone will power on and after about 5 seconds reboots again and powers on a second time and then the phone would boot into the second recovery. This time the recovery version displays Android Recovery 7.1.2.
I am really confused as to what has happened to my phone.
Now to make things even worse my son had a play around with it more while i was at work and has somehow put TWRP and replaced that second recovery that i just explained.
Is any of this normal?
I have a locked bootoader, 2 recoveries (Android 8.0.0 and TWRP) and no way to boot the phone it an OS?
HELP!

Seems you'd overwritten boot partition with recovery.img from Android 8. Wonder what version of sbl/aboot you've got after all that mess. Guess sbl/aboot is from Nougat if your son managed to install TWRP. You just need to rewrite boot partition with boot.img, you can extract it from any Oreo OTA zip.

So i followed these intructions. I am still not getting anywhere.
When i enter Android Recovery recovery and select "Apply update from SD card" it starts the update but then phone restarts and goes into TWRP Recovery and finishes the update there. It says failed to reboot so i reboot it and then it starts in Android Recovery 7.1.2.
I then select Apply update from SD card" and it does the same thing. Starts loading then reboots and heads into TWRP to finish the update. It restarts but im still stuck at the "NO COMMAND" screen

Flashed TWRP, now can't flash back to stock recovery. Help...

I updated to Lollipop using adb and stock recovery. That worked great. Then I flashed TWRP and made a nandroid backup. I have not rooted again since I'm switching to Nexus 9. So I want to reflash stock recovery, but I didn't save it.
I have the original stock recovery from the mantaray-lrx21p factory image, but when I flash it and boot into recovery, it's just blank screen. I'm assuming the OTA update also updated recovery? Does anyone have a copy of stock recovery after the OTA Nexus 10 update I could borrow?
Thanks,
Steve
Interestingly, I find that if I flash the stock recovery from mantaray-ktu84p, then it works. So it's the stock recovery in mantaray-lrx21p that just shows blank screen...
Same issue here to? Fix
Galaxy 6s Os 6.2.8▪Ss° Pen
I think the fix is we need to get someone with the latest Lollipop patch to extract and give us the recovery.img?
When blank screen appears, press power button for few seconds until the green robot appears, then press power + volume up ( or down ). the stock recovery menu will show up
I don't get any robot when pushing power button on blank screen. After 10 secs, device reboots. Are you sure it works like this now?
Well this is strange. I started all over with ktu84p, then applied the OTA lrx21p update. After the update, the recovery still says ktu84p so it did not get updated by applying the OTA update. Is that what everyone else sees as well? If I flash the recovery.img from the lrx21p factory image, then I get the blank screen instead of robot.

Tried to root, recovery flashed but didn't boot, now phone won't reboot.

Hey guys and gals, I decided to take my new PH-1 and root it after getting the latest OTA (this is an unlocked Sprint variant). I flashed the twrp for my build and there was an error, tried it again and the same error so I rebooted back into fastboot and it flashed but I didn't reboot into recovery. Flashed it again and booted into recovery but it was just a black screen as if the phone wasn't turned on. The closest I've gotten to recovery was the android laying down and it said "no command" but I forced a reboot at that point (I think I could have pressed up on the volume and pressed the power button to get to it from there but I haven't been able to get back to it).
I ended up flashing a modded boot image for root with Magisk 14.3 and that worked but I can't reboot my phone, it just goes to the blank screen like it isn't on and I can start it up again by holding the power button down for 15 sec. and it seems to function fine but I can't flash the OTA file to go back to complete stock or to go to the Oreo beta.
If anyone could give me some insight into this problem or a way of fixing it I would grateful, thank you.

[FIXED] Lg G6 [H870] TWRP recovery problem

So i wanted to finally install custom ROM on my LG G6 H870, needed twrp... obv, followed all the instructions:
adb devices - showed my device all was good
2nd: adb reboot bootloader
3rd: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
4th: fastboot reboot + holding volume down and power button, on logo released power button and pressed it down again, finally got to factory data reset 2 YES options and saw the Teamwin bootup logo, but then phone just booted up normally...
5th: Tried to open recovery once more, but then it did regular Data erease.
What could be wrong?

I had exactly same problem when I did this = only Teamwin bootup logo and then boot into android (I hope your bootloader is unlocked first).
Solution was you have to use TWRP 3.1.1-0 and u get into recovery. I tried more versions of TWRP (3.2.1-0 , 3.2.2-0 , 3.2.3-0) but ONLY 3.1.1-0 works and I dont know why.
Anyway I got another issue after because I didn't want to install root yet (first I wanted to backup).
An issue was I got into restarting loop by installing no-verity-opt-encrypt 6.0 which should be a solution for boot into android without losing TWRP (considering to one walkthrough I found).
I was lost for a while but I found a solution = install another boot.img (in my case I installed one dm-verity or dm-verity & forceencrypt zip file - btw what is a difference between them?).
Oh wow.. Well thanks, ill try your solution as soon as i get time. Bootloader is unlocked indeed, used latest twrp. I'll try 3.1.1-0.
@ Razexay
that happened to me also with Official TWRP take that from Eliminater74 that's where backup and encryption work with dm-verity & forceencrypt look here in the forum everything is well described

Samsung J7 Pro Soft Brick after Oreo 8.1 update (no root)

Hi everyone...
Two days ago, and a few hours after installing the 8.1 update, my mom's J7 touchscreen was unresponsive, including the power button. It ran out of battery, and after I restarted it this morning, it goes to recovery mode after it tries installing system update and the No command screen is displayed.
I've searched on the web for hours and hours for solutions but none of them have worked, most probably because it requires the phone to be connected to the PC, and my PC (Windows 10) isn't even seeing the phone via USB (can't use ODIN nor ADB). BTW, the debug option most probably wasn't turned on prior to soft brick.
Phone Info:
SM-J730G J730GDXS5BRK1
No root
Error on recovery screen (the SD card has been taken out):

# MANUAL MODE v1.0.0#

Additional info: As I've mentioned, the power button isn't responsive, so I press the volume down button to choose the recovery options. I've tried all recovery options except for:
Wipe data / factory reset, as the phone data isn't backed up (mom doesn't want to lose the personal data as much as possible)
Apply update from ADB
Apply update from SD card
All other options are looping back to the recovery screen after installing system update screen.
Lastly, in recovery, there's an option at the bottom that states "Lacking storage booting". I'm sure that would mean something to someone reading this that would help solve the issue.
An OS downgrade or same 8.1 fix is preferred, as long as the phone data is intact. Any and all help would be much appreciated.
Try "Emergency Software Recovery" feature in Samsung Smart Switch for PC.
It could be a hardware issue as well. Clean your USB charging port with a brush and a drop of alcohol. Then dry with a hair drier.
Good evening, have you tried installing the latest version of the firmware by odin?
If not, try this.
probably its touch stopped working after the update because it was not original (already it has been changed) or it can be other cases ..
if you still can not install the newest firmware downloaded from the sammobile site you can do the second procedure.
Such you will find in this same forum.
In it you use the pc miracle box application and downgrade to 7.1.
this is the title of the post.
follow all procedures.
and it will be all right.

PS: Putting it into download mode: Turn the device on by holding the volume down buttons + Home + Power
Thank you. I've tried 3 times now as I am getting stuck at II. Flash TWRP and fix rom. After I flash the nougat rom via TWRP, phone reboots and the logos keep on looping. Either I am doing something wrong or I'm missing a step, or the zip is not working for my mom's phone.

Then when you get to step II open the twrp and go into settings and uncheck the prompt option to install supersu if it is checked. whenever you do something in twrp uncheck this option. I do not know if this will be your problem but this always happens to me, if not clear at the time of restart the cell phone is in the loop screen exactly because of this option.

Checked TWRP Settings and there's no option / tickbox for supersu. I think one thing that I'm doing wrong is that I'm formatting data in TWRP during the wipe process instead of just sliding it to restore factory settings. I will try again later today after work.
Also, one thing I've noticed after flashing TWRP is that I have to enter recovery mode twice - the first time, it goes to the No command error screen then goes to stock recovery. Only after a reboot in the stock recovery would the phone enter TWRP recovery.

Just one more thing. In tutorials on how to install twrp. when you enter twrp the first thing you should do is format the data. then install the rmm state prenormal and bypass files and only then install magisk or a custom rom.

Before trying to flash TWRP, first flash a full stock firmware and make sure your can at least boot all the way up to the main screen.
Once that works, only then try to flash any custom recovery or custom rom.
Same prob
I've just faced the same problem a few days after my update as well. Did you figure out how to get it back to normal? Thank you!

Root, flash recovery and custom ROMs. Only for LG G6 H872 (20g original firmware)

This is a much easier way to flash a new recovery and custom roms. Besides using a PC / USB cable for unlocking the bootloader, all the process can be done straight from your device.
IMPORTANT: This procedure is only valid for LG G6 H872. Other G6 variants will end up bricked. All partitions will be wiped, this means that all the files needed must be saved to your external SD. It’s been tested with 20g firmware.
Prerequisites:
LG G6 device with original Oreo 20g firmware and fully charged
External SD card
Download and install su98.apk, Root Checker and Flashify
Download this specific TWRP version and save it to your external SD
Download Magisk and save it to your external SD
(Optional) Download latest TWRP to flash A10+ custom roms and save it to your external SD
0. Backup everything
1. Unlock your bootloader, otherwise you will brick your device. You can follow this guide.
2. Disable Google Play Protect (from PlayStore) or you won't be able to go on with the next step
3. Install su98.apk, open it and tap INSTALL NOW (leave the checkbox blank)
4. Install Root Checker and open it to verify that your device is rooted
5. Install Flashify and open it to flash TWRP (recovery_h872_20180813-1.img)
6. Turn off the phone (at this point, if the phone boots to Android you will have to start over from step 3).
7. Reboot into recovery (press and hold Volume Down and Power buttons together for a few seconds. When the LG logo appears, release the Power button while keep pressing the Volume Down and then press the Power button once more. Once you see a white screen, use Volume keys to choose "Yes" and Power button to select the option, you will have to press “Yes” twice).
8. Once in TWRP (be patient, takes some time to load) a “decrypt data” legend will appear. Press cancel. Then swype to allow system modifications. After that, go to Wipe / Format data and confirm by typing yes.
You are now able to flash any Stock ZIP (not KDZ). If this is your choice, remember to flash Magisk after flashing the ROM. If you want to flash any other custom ROM, jump to the next step.
9. Still in TWRP, flash Magisk to keep your device rooted
10. Flash the latest TWRP. Go to reboot options and tap Recovery
11. Once in the new TWRP, wipe system, data, dalvik, cache
12. Flash Rom + Gapps + Magisk and reboot to system

Special thanks to Man Stevo for sharing this!!
LG G6 H872 back to stock Oreo 20g
IMPORTANT: All partitions will be wiped, this means that you must backup everything otherwise you’ll lose everything stored in the phone.
Prerequisites:
LG G6 device fully charged
USB cable
LG Mobile driver installed
Patched LG UP installed in the right folder (otherwise your device will not be recognized)
LG G6 H872 latest Oreo firmware (20g)
0. Backup everything.
1. We are going to flash this using the patched LG UP. Place the files in C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP. You can't just unzip it anywhere and run it, it will not find the model file.
2. Boot to download mode (power off your Phone. Plug one end of the USB cable to PC and while holding the Volume Up button connect the other end of the cable to your device. Release the Volume button once the device boots into Download Mode. To exit the Download Mode, press and hold the Power button until the device reboots)
3. Open LG UP and wait until the device model is recognized. Then choose partition DL
4. Pick the H872 20g KDZ and click start / ok
5. You’ll now get a list of partitions to flash, check them all and click start / ok
6. You may get a warning about additional modified partitions. Ignore it, and click ok
7. When the process is finished, the device will reboot
If the progress bar reached 100% and the device got stuck in the pink bootanimation, follow these steps:
Unplug the device and turn it off by holding Volume Down + Power (keep holding them down until it turns off)
Once the device is off, press and hold Volume Down and Power buttons together for a few seconds. When the LG logo appears, release the Power button while keep pressing the Volume Down and then press the Power button once more. Once you see a white screen, use Volume keys to choose "Yes" and Power button to select the option, you will have to press “Yes” twice.
The phone will now restore factory defaults and reboot to system
IMPORTANT
In case camera crashes when opening or you get an IMS error, you'll have to flash H87211h_00_0406.kdz (same procedure as above from step 0 to 7, just changing step 4 where you need to pick H872 11h KDZ), reboot to system (until you finish the initial wizard) and then flash H87220g_00_1228.kdz (again, same procedure from step 0 to 7).
Reserved
Works like a charm. Thanks
FYI, Going back to full working stock need to return to Android 7 firmware 1st (H87211h_00_0406.kdz); otherwise, you will get camera and IMS error.
Questions:
Does SkyHawk Recovery support stock firmware as TWRP can't backup and restore stock properly.

Worked here when getting back straight to stock 20g, but good to know for those with issues.
I didn't test any custom recovery to backup stock, so I don't know about that.
Thanks for reporting!
Has anyone else used this recently? I cannot get the phone to boot to recovery at step 7. I've tried:
1) press vol- and pwr until the LG logo appears, release power, and press it once more
2) same as 1) above, but pressing power button multiple times to get through the "your phone can't be checked for security stuff" warning
Both times, it just boots straight to Android.
EDIT: Using adb reboot recovery worked!
Yeah, it works @zolotiyeruki
Check the vídeo in the first post for more details with the whole procedure.

To follow up on this, I believe it's flagged because it is the exploit to get root that is seeing.
So it seems it's getting recognized by the anti-virus correctly and it's the desired functionality of the .apk.
(Anyone feel free to chime in to correct this if it's inaccurate.)

hello Magisk no longer provides a downloadable zip to flash with twrp. that and for some reason i cant seem to get twrp to stick after flashing ive followed the instructions as exactly except for not installing magisk via twrp. i tried to install magisk via the manager after flashing twrp the first time and wiping data after that i am givin the option to reboot to system which i tried first and was not able to boot back into twrp. after doing everything from step 1 to finish all over i tried staying to flash the latest twrp before returning to system but seeing as how i dont have any gapps or roms or a flashable zip for magisk i just rebooted to system after flashing and still could not return to twrp..... i need help how do i get twrp to stick around after reboot, and how am i supposed to install magisk properly without the flashable zip? i seem to need a copy of my current boot.img so i can patch it with magisk and flash it with fastboot, how do i do this?
