Flash stock oos, format data and try till it boots it will be encrypted. Anyways, the trade in Programm is really bad, since it offers less than half of the devices worth.

Currently the phone is using xXx rom. So all there is to do is flash the stock oos on TWRP and then format data? Will flashing the stock oos also automatically switch it to use stock recovery?
Looks like I can get €271 for the OP5 with the trade in program. I doubt it will get fetch twice as much if reselling...

The price is really bad for such an advertising. If you trade it private you will get more.
Nevertheless if you flash full signed stock rom from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/oneplus-5-mirrors-official-oxygen-os-t3628190 you will receive also the stock recovery.

Don't go for it, you'll get just around 200£ if the phone is in a perfect condition

"not responding" all the time? how to 100% format?

hey guys!
my N4 is annoying the crap out of me, multiple stuff "not responding" constantly, only fixable by a restart.
im running slimbean, which i probably won't anymore, but im not sure if that is the issue.
i want to format my machine 100%, just leave the bootloader unlocked, and install a totally new install of a different rom,
i heavent decided yet but i know that if i just flash a new rom (and also do the 2 wipe cach things) the issues continue because i already
did that before.
so what exactly do i have to do in order to clean the machine, and than have a reallly fresh new install?
ty!
Well... I'm coming from Optimus 2X so I have no idea what I'm talking about, but when I want to do a complete format I go to recovery and in "mounts and storage" I choose format /sdcard.
I guess that also exists in nexus 4?
Oh wait... just realized that there is no external sdcard in nexus 4
So... I guess if you do that you would have to use "adb" to push recovery and a flashable ROM... does that make sense to you?
Or you could try to just format /system!
I would recommend following this guide on how to install the factory image. It will restore everything, including the bootloader, but you can just unlock it again afterwards. Or just not flash the bootloader image.

I would suggest you to make a clean install of the stock rom!
That should fix the issue!

I had the exact same problem! Phone would boot into the rom, or stock and freeze after about a minute and reboot itself constantly. I had the updated version of TWRP and was flashing the new 1/30 Mahdi build and it happened after I did that! I tried flashing stock roms, aosp roms, and eventually did a Flash back to stock method, which non of them worked. I took the phone into T-Mobile and did a warranty replacement, got a new one overnight. Not sure if it is related to Mahdi or not, but it happened after a supposed successful flash.
I tried my TWRP Backups too, and those still restarted on me. Nothing helped me..Tried wiping the sd card, format the whole card, wipe cache, fix perm..
Hopefully you have a warranty or figure it out!
Good luck.

Should still be under warranty with LG. I'd call their support and give them the serial number to see if it still covered.
As far as the LG Warranty goes, all I did is walk into the store and show them the issue at hand, and he put in a order for a new one sent overnight to me. They send you a prepaid label and a box to ship your old one back(phone only). The new phone I have appears to be brand new, with all the crazy plastic protection on it... not sure if it is a refurbish or not. Didn't cost me a penny, as I have the JUMP w/ protection plan.

File-based encryption missing?

Hi all, just got my new V20 (Verizon)! Feels good to be back after my beloved G3 died last year. I know that Android 7.0 includes the new file-based encryption, but you have to enable it from developer options. Should be "convert to file encryption." However I don't have the option on my V20. Am I missing something? Does anyone else have the option?
On Verizon as well and I don't have it either.
All v20 have encryption enabled out the box as when we root and use TWRP have to wipe the whole thing

Does that mean that after we finish installing TWRP and boot the phone for the first time it will start using the file based encryption again?

No
To be able to use twrp you have to remove encryption and mot use it as it blocks twrp from backing up your data.
Therez a fix for twrp i started to port to the v20 so it wasnt a requirement to decrypt but in all honesty encryption slows your handset down a ton!
So you either use full device encyrption by defualt.
Or you formatt your phone and flash a Rom that has decryption turned off.
If you ask the dev of your model nicely that makes the rom you are gonna use i bet he would make you a boot.img with it on if you wanted. Just know that twrp backups of your data will not work.

Axon 7 won't boot after flashing no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1

I flashed the no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip to disable the internal encryption, but now the phone can't boot into the OS anymore. It can still boot into TWRP, is there any way to recover it? Thanks.

lol that zip doesn't 'disable encryption', it prevents the system from encrypting the storage the first time that it boots with a non-encrypted storage. Installing SuperSU or Magisk is usually enough because they have that script integrated too.
The way to fix it is to go to Wipe --> Advanced wipe --> Format data --> type 'yes'. You're gonna lose your internal storage and data.
After doing that, don't reboot. Go to Install and flash Magisk or SuperSU or that no-verity zip (only flash one of those).
Well, I tried to update TWRP last night and I think I have completely bricked it. To flash it back requires opening up the phone, which I'm not going to do. Maybe I'll make a smash the phone video later. I'm glad I only attempted this after I got a new phone, never ZTE, never again.

Lol the one who messed up was you, not ZTE
If you knew that flashing that zip on an already-encrypted storage wouldn't do anything, it'd still work...
Also, I'm curious: What did you do to brick your phone while attempting to update TWRP? It was as simple as putting the .img on your phone and goin to Install image...
Well, if I knew why it bricked I wouldn't flash it would I? The ZTE phone had some kind of encryption in the internal storage, I was trying to disable it. It probably tripped some security measure. The phone's software was garbage the day I got it (almost 1 year ago). After I rooted it I thought I could flash some third party rom to fix it, but since it was encrypted I can't. I didn't want to mess with my only phone, so I begrudgingly used it for almost a year, but now that I have a replacement phone, I thought I would attempt to disable the encryption and flash different rom just to experiment before giving the phone away. So in a sense I already written off this POS. Never ZTE, never again.

Okay. For anyone who comes next: it is NOT NECESSARY to root the phone to install a custom ROM! Simply with unlocking the bl and installing TWRP, then wiping system and formatting data, then using the universal bootloader and modem, you can install a custom ROM.
I was asking what you did to brick it while updating TWRP. Never heard about something like that

Plex VR and Lineage

Anyone having this working? It appears something doesn't work right as the screen is a big single screen (not the dual lens type thing of VR apps.) Some have suggested build.prop changes but they were met with mixed success it seems.
Anyone got this going and what did you do?

I got this and decided to go back to stock because I been eagerly waiting for Plex VR. Going back to stock was a very long 2 day process I never want to go through again but was well worth it. Plus stock isn't really all that bad.
Well, there is no way I'll go back to stock. Not only an arduous project going back but I do enjoy LOS far, far more than stock.
Thanks mate

Arduous? Getting a TWRP flashable zip and flashing it through TWRP is not a 2 day process. There are TWRP flashable zips for the G (raystef66's B09) and for the U (DrakenFX's stuff).

And everyone will have that same thing happen to them? If that happens I would either a) reflash, or b) install the stock recovery and flash the official zip.

I used the Axon 7 toolkit and couldn't get back to stock because XiaoMiFlash kept giving an error. Had to use MiPhone instead and then was able to flash stock files.

MiFlash (and therefore axon7toolkit) is the last place you should go to. Imagine that the connection breaks somehow. Power surge, the USB cable getting disconnected, anything...
Going back to stock is as easy as flashing it via TWRP or flashing the stock recovery img and installing an official zip.
