When I turn my phone from portrait to landscape, the icons will rotate but the background wallpaper doesn't (anymore).
I think the latest Telstra update (downloaded it on 11 May) might have nobbled the ability for the background picture on the home screen to auto-rotate.
Samsung Galaxy S8+ - G955FTEL1CRD1 (<- I'm guessing this indicates Telstra firmware)
Nova Launcher Prime 5.5.3
Tried:
1. Nova Settings > Look & Feel > Screen Orientation
2. Notification Panel > Auto-rotate
3. Tried reverting to Touchwiz. There doesn't appear to be an appropriate setting under Settings Display > Home screen.
Nothing has helped.
Anyone else having this issue? Grateful for any advice.
regards
Hey everybody. I would like to know the same as I was developing live wallpapers that can rotate on homescreen but now can not test out the app anymore in landscape mode because of this stupid decision to take away a very useful feature. Any thought or solutions? I thinking about rolling back or completely erasing my phone just to get this back...

FYI: I have since seen online that this bug/feature was introduced by Samsung to supposedly add more differentiation with the S9 (sorry, didn't retain the website).
It looks like we're stuck with portrait images on S8/+ until some 3rd party app (eg Nova Launcher) reintroduces auto rotating.

Well...that sucks. Hopefully it is a bug. I called Samsung support this morning and made big complaint about it (nicely though) and the rep said she will pass the info to Samsung developers and inform the help reps to any inquiry of this problem. I hope they fix in the next update. The only thing I can think of is consumers complaining that live wallpaper get stuck in landscape mode on lock screen when lock screen don't support landscape.... or something like that..
I actually got a call back from the people at Samsung! I can confirm that this was intentional but the software engineers at Samsung realize that it was a mistake and I was told that they will fix this in a future update because to many called in about it. Hopefully soon!

Oreo Wallpaper "landscape orientation rotation bug" on Samsung
For now, and ever since my phone updated to Oreo with the Samsung wallpaper bug, I really dislike my phone. AT&T never updated my Nougat 7.0 to the updated version 7.1. Instead, they made a great stride, and I am thankful, to upgrade me to Oreo 8.0. Nougat never had a bug that I noticed. Now running on Oreo, the lockscreen stacked clock turned out to be a feature..but this issue.. with wallpaper not rotating in landscape. This causes my purchased live wallpapers to rain sideways and my purchased themes are ridiculous looking. And..all of this is constanly in my face like the stacked clock. With this bug, my only option is to request refunds for all purchases I have made as they no longer work as intended and are appalling to use and to look at, sorry to say. I neeeded this problem off my chest. Thank you so much for your time. I hope you are 100 percent functional always.

So far as I can tell there is no theme settings which is a bummer. The new UI look is nice and updated, but not much else has changed. Just getting myself familiar with everything. I'm actually not too impressed so far, though I did better on the Marshmallow android game than on the Lollipop one xD

Thanks! Sprint's service is mediocre where I live but it's very cheap and they roll out updates promptly (or as promptly as Samsung allows). Still, no theming is disappointing even though they did bring over updates to the S-pen.
Time to look forward to N, if not OTA then via custom ROMs! The multi-window there is more robust and behaves more how I'd expect it to.
Adoptable storage will work if you use the S7 work around via ADB

Also there's the option to turn off Fast Charge now, not sure if the previous had this option.
One more thing, even after your battery goes below 15% you can still adjust the brightness slider. It doesn't turn dark and dissappear now like it used to.

Anyone been able to install daydream? This update was supposed to enable it for us but I can't install from the play store, still "unavailable." Sideloading the apk, it launches but gets to a point in setup that says the phone is not daydream ready. I could use daydream on my rooted HTC 10 and was really looking forward to having it back

Maybe it's something Google has to flip a switch on. The update just puts the groundwork in place and then Google has to add the device to a "blessed" list. Just a thought.
That's what I was thinking, I figured with the update being today and the latest apk on apkmirror being july 13th, they neex to update the app itself

As a follow up on this issue. It appears that the T-Mobile version also was updated with the same nav bar updates. So I contacted Samsung and with no surprise was just told Samsung is always updating firmwarer to enhance your experience. They could not state whether the same changes would come to the unlocked version. So I have 15 days to determine whether to return the unlocked one and figure out what this may make me do with the verizon version. I might be able to tolerate it but I am tired of paying large sums of money and having no control or say on what is added or removed from my device. I don't rant much but the idea of sneaking in some little change without noting it in update descriptions is not good business practice.

Sadly, I think the navbar color limitation will come to all models. I think they're doing this to try and reduce burn in. The color choice is so mild/mixed that it won't tax the pixels to as much of a total on/off state. It keeps them in line with the rest of the screen use. That's my theory anyway.

I'm noticing since the update and possibly since the "Samsung Always on update" my Verizon S8+ seems to be warm in the back of the phone. The phone just seems to stay warm. My cpu temperature with no activity and the phone in my pocket is a constant 39.9-40.4 . I do use the "always on display", but can never ever remember my phone being warm all the time like that when I pull it out of my pocket. Strangely enough when removed from my pocket and in use the phone starts feeling cooler, cpu temperature at first going to 44.2, but with more use going down to 40.2. I've always had the setting to keep the screen off when the phone is in my pocket enabled.
Anyone else experiencing this ?

Good luck with the return. I tried to return my phone and ended up with nothing but lip service. I called four different times and was told four different times that a return shipping label would be e-mailed to me within five business days. Well....that was a month ago and I'm still waiting for that e-mail!!
Just thought I'd let those of you who can't root their note and didn't know that Samsung blocked all the ability to theme/change fonts on your phone from anywhere but their official theme store. So, if you have substratum and have purchased andromeda, themegalaxy, swift installer.....etc, you are SOL. In order for any of those to work, you'd have to have root. This is going to be my last Sammy phone ever. First they lock down their bootloaders (I know carriers are involved and want you to upgrade every year), then now are locking any third party themes. And to top it off, they are horrible at pushing updates/new software to their customers. If you buy a locked down phone, you'd get a couple of updates (I mean android versions not security updates) then you're stuck with an older version of android until you buy a new phone.
Just thought I'd throw this out there so you decide whether or not to update to pie. IF there is a way to block automatic updates.

Isn't theme issues (whatever level of issues) on Pie have to do with Google killing it and not the phone OEM? Google killed call recording on Pie. They seems to be wanting to kill more and more features we've been depending on that have nothing to do with Samsung.

I think is has to do with Google slowly working towards making a dark theme systemwide, should be available on next version of Android. You can also expect even more difficulties using overlays on next Android.
Google is trying to tighten things up on Android. Do I like? No! But we can't say they are wrong to do it either.
I mean, look at how many Android devices are activated daily. Security lately is a much bigger concern for all companies and users. Blocking modifications and overlays is a way of making your phone more secure.
Thanks for sharing but I don't use third party themes anymore since most of them seems to drain the battery way too much
Why not just downgrade to Oreo 8.1 ? PIE-9 ONE UI Sucks at the moment.. Maybe 6 months or a years’ time it might get there and then ill upgrade!! Until then I’m sticking to 8.1 as it rocks!

So we all know the s20 series has had problems with auto focus especially in the ultra that one was really jacked up. I have the regular galaxy s20 and also have autofocus problems. I have done numerous things to try to make it better I even did a full reset which I normally never do because I would just clear cache and data of said app and it would clear things up. but not this time autofocus was hit or miss for sure and problematic. And for a $1,000 device this Just is not right and don't cut it for me... shoot my old one plus seven pro had better autofocus! and that thing was like 600 bucks. Anyway I am pleased to say that with this new update it is pretty much 100% autofocus is much faster, actually really fast. and 10 out of 10 for me focused instantly. hopefully I don't get in trouble for this if I have to take it down mods just let me know.

Auto update hasn't hit the US. Maybe we'll see it combined with a June security

Edit: I see it is hitting T-mobile and other US carriers this morning, but still with May security patch. US unlocked got ATD1 at the beginning of the month, not sure if T-mobile ever got that one, or just skipped straight to ATE6.

This just came in, installing now, is very fast, the fingerprint is very fast, this update size is 462 mb For the S20 Ultra on T Mobile G988U
Definitely noticing better auto focus after the update.
Now I'm looking forward to Samsung's promised update to allow native gestures to be used on 3rd party launchers. Wish I weren't so anal about small quirks of the gestures that FNG has but the native gestures are the best IMO.
Man, I hate this. I'm on an unlocked s20 ultra and tmobile somehow pushed it out before Samsung does.
Yep def improved some things with this update....things i have found are the auto focus is blazing fast now and seems like fingerprint is a tad quicker....also idk if its me or what but sound seems to have improved coming out of the speakers for sure

At least for the Ultra, an easy way to know they aren't the same: the current ATD1 software on the unlocked phone doesn't have the new macro prompt. ATD1 has been out for a month, the new improvements in ATE6 just surfaced in the past week. But ATD1 did roll out with the May security update already, I expect unlocked will get the improvements of ATE6 with June security in a week or so.
Hello
I just received the latest oneUI update 3.0 with Android 11.
I am in France on an Unlocked S20+ Exynos.
So far the 3 main things i have noticed , compared to OneUI 2.5.
1. The fingerprint recognition is way faster
2. The UI is very smooth
3. Battery life seems to have improved (Exynos)

I’ve read today that GoodLock will be available February 2021 for One UI 3.0
my question, does Magisk and xposed work right now?
Updated today. It's butter smooth
Can it be rooted yet?
Updated yesterday. Seems really good so far. Very smooth.
Nicelock models isn't working.
Omfg, i have never seen something so ugly as this OneUI 3 update. First thing that you notice after updating, is the new monstrous fingerprint icon. Secondly, the interaction with the phone when using a 3rd party launcher is buggy as hell. Using Nova Launcher and gestures navigation is buggy. Thumbs down Samsung for this update.

pretty sure using any 3rd party launcher on android 11 is buggy, even on pixels, so dont think that is Samsung specific

I hear that TMobile is getting their updates now. Does that mean that each carrier is taking a week to do their releases? In reverse alphabetical order? I am on AT&T, maybe the last to get it...

Hello to all
Same problem with nova launcher .... after the update to 11, some gestures work incorrectly.
For example, once the screen is turned on and off, the screen turns on again for a few moments and then turns off again and permanently.
I wrote an email to "TeslaCoil Apps Customer Support" reporting the anomaly and they replied "That's an issue on Samsung's end that they introduced well over a year ago that you would need to contact them directly about".
Personally I think it's a Nova problem as with version 10 everything was going perfectly.
I hope for a launcher update where the problem is solved.
I attach a short video where you can see the problem.
Hello to all.
