Hello,
I just got a new Nexus 7 (2012) tablet. I was looking at doing some hardware upgrades. Has anyone upgraded the RAM on one of these before? Based on bit[dot]do/ef9uM it contains “1 GB of Hynix H5TC2G83CFR DDR3 RAM” (bit[dot]do/ef9uD). Could this be swapped with the 4 “Elpida J4216EFBG 512 MB DDR3L SDRAM” from the second gen Nexus 7, or 2GB RAM from somewhere else?
From what I’ve read it sounds more like a dream then a possibility

I saw the official estore of Samsung India. In their website it is mentioned that note 10.1 has only 1 GB ram? Is it a mistake or the indian model has been stripped down? Share your Opinions!!
It's a mistake

Claims 2GB DDR3, 1.7GB is shown as usable. The memory is fast. 2GB RAM should have been utilized in tablets long ago.
I thought we had 2GB of ddr2 ram. 2gb of ddr3 RAM is great if true. What type does the S3 have?
We only have lpddr2... lpddr3 spec was just announced in may 2012 i doubt any device released this year will have lpddr3
I'm just curious if anyone knows what the actual storage amount available to the consumer out of the box will be for consumers on an 8GB or 16GB Nexus 4? I think I could make due with about 6.5 - 7 GB but I know there's no guarantee the OS & whatever else won't take up additional space. If anyone has any thoughts, feel free to chime in! 8 more days to go!

Wow! Are you serious?! That means the phone took up 3 gigs on it's own? So if you buy the 8 GB variant, you're left with just 5 GB? That's ridiculous.

The difference between the free space and advertised space is not just the OS, but also has to do with the formatted capacity being lower. The 8GB Nexus 7 has 5.92GB of free space out of the box, so I imagine this will be similar.
It's definitely going to be 5.xx GB and 13.xx GB. That's the way it has been for a long time now. My 16GB Galaxy S has 13.43GB available for storage. I suspect the 2GB ROM space is taken out of the same NAND chip, correct me if I'm wrong.
Other thing to note is that the GB advertised is in decimal system.
eg: 8gb will have 8 x 1000 x 1000 x 1000 = 8,000,000,000 bytes in decimal
In reality one kilo byte is 1024 bytes and so on:
So to startwith 8 GB is not really 8gb its 7.45 gb.
8,000,000,000 / (1024*1024*1024) = 7.45 GB
So the 5.92 that you see is not 8 - 5.92. But is 7.45 - 5.92.

It's actually the operating systems that are using the unit incorrectly. GB = gigabyte = 10^9 bytes. All of the OS developers chose to use GB = 1024^3. The IEEE officially endorses the metric interpretation (10^9). 1024^3 is really called a Gibibyte (GiB), but only Ubuntu and Mac OS have adopted this on the software side.
So even though harddrive manufacturers get all the blame, they're really the ones that are right.

Can't tell if you're joking or not.... Has been a known fact for every device with internal storage.

Saw one review video for a 16 GB version , user space will be 12.95 GB , thats slightly lesser than Galaxy Nexus ,(13.33 GB)
How much actual space do you get if you order the 16gb nexus 10? You won't get exactly 16gb becuase of the OS and bloatware.
around 13gb

Has anyone tried it? I' ve ordered it and when i receive it i' ll do a review.
Nobody?
it takes 2 weeks to ship from china i didn't want to wait and any performance gains will seem pretty minimal once the quad-core SOCs (A31 & RK3188) hit in force.
According to an inquiry made by a member of ahappydeal.com the stick has 1gb ram whereas the specs mention it has 2 gb ram. Anyway since i' ve ordered it in the 11th of December and hasn' t arrived yet i' ll request a refund from paypal. Avoid ahappydeal.com at all cost because they suck.

I have. And it does have 2 GB of RAM.
I purchased it from aliexpress
Works flawlessly. However the mac adress on the wireless interface changes at each boot.
Would anyone suggest if it's better to buy this than the iMito MX2?
I have imito mx2 but s21h hasn' t arrived yet. .. so I can' t say for sure because I can' t. compare them.
I received s21h today and it has 1 gb ram. I bought it from ahappydeal.com

Then how come mine has only 1gb of ram? Does it come in 2 versions? How much did you pay for it?
fake specs
the specs of advertised "S21H Android 4.12 Pocket PC TV Box Media Player 2GB RAM 8GB Flash" are fake:
CPU: RK 3066, Cortex-A9
RAM: 2GB DDR3
Flash: 8GB Nand Flash
appeared to be :
CPU: RK 3066, Cortex-A7
RAM: 1GB DDR3
Flash: 4GB Nand Flash
and those were things that made me to buy this stick.
the "dispute" with seller does not even work...

yes there are others variants too like 32gb and 4gb too
This isn't exactly new ... just didn't sell in the US. Git that model a few months ago on ebay
I made the emphasis on this one because a lot of people were forced to buy the expensive one $299, just to get the 4GB of Ram. This model offers the 4GB at a low cost. In addition I did an extensive search and this variant has never been mentioned or put on sale till lately.

Not a new variant for global Atleast..
They introduced this in India as many ppl want for low cost
But this variant in India won't have boost master charger, only 16gb, and low end 1.8ghz
But cost is just 1000 rs less than 32gb, 2.3ghz, with boost master charger..
So guys Becareful on choosing that variant.. And check whether it has boost master otherwise not worth 19k rs

For me this is the best deal. But when I bought it it was not available.

You do realize boost master wears off battery quickly it does more harm than good to your battery.
