What to do with zte phones now.......https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2018/05/...r-20-phones-and-broadband-devices-off-shelves
If you've got a compatible version of the device (those of us with the Bell Canada version might be completely out of luck), I suggest you switch to a 3rd party ROM that still has ongoing support.
LineageOS 14.1 went official for the Axon 7 Mini not too long ago. Might be a worthwhile choice.

I check the Cyanogenmod site every once in a while, and to my surprise as the title says, CM14.1 was finally released today. I really need my phone right now so I can't mess with it, but I will definitely be installing it in the future a) to start getting up to date android security releases and b) to upgrade to Nougat. I am hoping that CM14.1 will be released for the Nexus 4 soon as I would install it there immediately and use it as both a backup phone and to discover all the features of CM 14, as I never used any CM in the past.

Thanks for the heads-up. Appreciated.
Hey guys! Some very talented developers have been working on unofficial releases for a while already, and I am unsure whether to go for their takes or wait until an Official version is released. Any predictions on when this might happen? Or should I just void my warranty and go for Vache's build? Thanks!!!
I might also like this. While Motorola says they will release Oreo for Potter, they seemingly haven't provided any timetable for that. I am a bit hesitant to install a LineageOS nightly on my daily driver, but I would love having the option, especially if it turns out that Motorola botches the Oreo upgrade.

I have been using Vache's/fAIyaZ 7.1.2 build for some days now. Only found one bug, Skype wouldn't manage to access the camera for video-chatting, but I found a solution for it (activating Camera 2 API from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/themes/potentially-google-camera-port-t3684264 ). Other than that, everything works perfectly (and a lot better than the Moto built-in tracking suite they ship the phone with).
Applying an unofficial fix to an unofficial port sounds a bit problematic. Do you think it would be possible for Vache/fAlyaZ to fix this in their port somehow? Or would it be more of a gapps thing? Or neither?
It seems so insane to me that there is no official LineageOS for Potter yet? I couldn't have even imagined that it wouldn't be released quickly when I bought the Moto G5 Plus - I though it is such a popular phone, so well reviewed for the price, able to be unlocked, etc. How can it no be better supported by the LineageOS team?
Sorry to necro this thread, but Oreo has now been officially released for Potter, after seemingly forever. What are the chances of getting an official 15.1 build for Potter any time soon?
I know Vache's unofficial build is much loved on here, and I think there's a 16.0 unofficial build I've seen flowing around as well, but some of us would rather go with an official build if one is available.
Don't mean to be a d*ck, but just follow the trending topics on the forum and you'll see where everyone has flocked to. At the moment I believe there's no need to program Lineage for Pie, when we have one extremely good AOSP based version online. Install the Pie version of the system that can be shot from a bow and never look back... Vache did a great job for as long as he did it, and a couple of other contributors too, so <3 thank you
now everyone seems to be somewhere else, that's how it goes
all the previous versions and knowledge gained from them kept being passed forward to ports from the next version of Android as well, so you'd have to look at Lineage Pie. Lineage16 seems to still be too raw for Potter, which means you likely won't see any official version soon. With Pie out, everyone's efforts turn to it, so you can see also that the 15.1 thread is pretty much dead.
Is it possible for someone to take the oreo build from the Axon 7 and tweak it for the mini or is that wishful thinking

I would suggest patience. Custom ROM development was just started on this phone a few months ago. The main dev working on it, tdm, is trying to get an official LineageOS 14.1 build (Nougat) done. It's not impossible, but I doubt it's easy because although their names are similar, they're two distinctly different devices. It'll be much easier if ZTE goes crazy and does an Oreo update for the Mini.
I wasn't expecting or demanding a working rom. I understand these things take time. I was just curious as if it may be a simple process considering the differences between devices. I have been very involved in the development forums and have been testing and reporting the builds as they are released. I am content with the current releases of custom roms.

Ah, the limitations of typed words. I didn't intend to imply you were being demanding. I'm not a developer, but I doubt we'll see Oreo on the Mini unless ZTE has an official release. I'm currently on Lineage 14.1 on the Mini and every build keeps getting better (with a few bumps along the way of course). I'll love it if I'm wrong about this of course

Tdm has said a while back that he may begin work on Oreo once LineageOS 15.1 nightlies begin rolling out or when the maintainer for the HTC One A9 builds Oreo for it.

I was in a chat yesterday with ZTE USA support, they mentioned that Oreo is in the works for the Axon 7 Mini.

Nah, you won't see me going back to ZTE's stock ROM anytime soon ?
Why still no official status of Lineage OS? Fp issue is solved i guess!
LineageOS community is pretty strict about how they should host a ROM image for any particular phones / tablets on the official website, in fact they have set of rules which you HAVE to abide by, before they would bother to dish up the LineageOS ROMs for, for example, our OnePlus 6T. They do not want half-a**ed builds (that wastes their time).
There are a few bugs still remaining, and we now have to deal with a new problem, hardware mismatch warning (OnePlus have just done something to the recent bootloader in International version of the OxygenOS to discourage the T-Mobile OnePlus 6T users from trying to do conversion from T-Mobile to International, thus the dreaded hardware mismatch warning, however since the Linux kernel just check for two things, bootloader ID and modem status, it can be bypassed) to tackle first before we would see official LineageOS 16 ROM, and it will be distributed via LineageOS page pretty soon.
Hi,
I’d like to buy an LG V20.
But I’m not sure which one would be better among the two version VS995 or F800.
I will be using it as DAP only + apps, not as a calling phone.
Now I’m sure F800 got officially updated to Android 9, while I’m not sure about the VS995 which officially should only have android 8.
While on the contrary with LineageOs, the VS995 can go up to Android 10 with LineageOS 17.1.
I’d like to root it and have some good audiophile Rom installed on it or modules (viper4androids look exciting).
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
anyone?
The vs995 hopefully will eventually get 9 there is a big issue you do not realize thinking you can just put los 17.1 on it is that not everything is 100% supported.

From everything that has been reported none of the US variants will ever see official lg pie

Thanks! So probably better to go with the F800 version then!
Before you make your decision, be sure to read through some of the F800-specific threads such as the ones found here and here. Newer official updates tend to have some glitches/bugs or break older apps that could annoy you.
if F800 supports most or all of the cellular bands in your region, then i recommend F800 for the Pie update alone
