Hi,
I'm having some problems with EMUI 8.0 on my BND-AL10 device.
1. Lag / Frame drops : While scrolling through Chrome new tab page, changing tabs and in Clash of Clans, I feel it is sluggish as if it is running at 20 fps. It does that everytime. Changing the resolution from FHD+ to HD+ also doesn't help. I have restarted the device multiple times.
2. Battery Life and Charging time : Battery Life has become significantly lower, it gives much lower SOT. Charging time has also increased a lot, it took around 4 hours while using the device.
Does anyone else have this problem? Has anyone tried a factory reset after the update? Does factory reset solve the problem?
Thank you.

Maybe give it some time a week or 2 to optimize all apps and the system. Battery life should be better with time

Check which build number you have with your current update.
If it's AL10 8.0.0.310, then rest assured, one more update is coming with build number ending in .320.
After updating from Nougat to Oreo, I can say that Oreo has improved the performance and battery life significantly in my device, yesterday I had 7H SOT while travelling. It's the best I've got in this device.
You can try a reset coupled with clearing cache from the recovery.
Agree with the charging time, it's about 3.5 to 4 hours charging time in my phone too.

I've read in Honor Clubs that the build number I mentioned (ending with .310) has some problems. You didn't mention it earlier so I assumed you might have that build.
I've the same build number as yours right now (ending in .320) and I'm not facing any problem instead I've noticed a significant increase in performance and battery life.
I guess a reset might solve the problem.

The battery life is better now but the performance in Chrome is the same. Have you tried using Chrome?

I'm very sorry. I was messing up 3 with 8.
We have the same build. And no problems in Chrome. Steaming, browsing and downloading, I do them all and haven't faced any lag yet.
I'm sorry again for the mistake.

No problem. So, it must be a problem with only my device.
Thanks.
Also, you should probably hide your IMEI number.

My phone overall feels better than Nougat (I have the Mate SE), but there's a few apps that seem like the performance has degraded...My Google photos is borderline unusable due to the lag....I don't know what they did, but I hope someone fixes the issue. The Stock gallery app is much slower too (Touch sensitivity)
When going into the Google app, and clicking on Google assistant "settings" and "explore", it pops up and immediately disappears. Can't access Google assistant settings. .330 build

Google Photos and the gallery app both run smoothly for me. My issue is only with browsers (mostly Chrome) and Clash of Clans (other games run fine).
BTW apps open faster in Oreo than Nougat for me.
I have Bnd-L24 8.0.0.330 and Oreo was installed today.
Android 7 was blazing fast on my phone but with Oreo I too feel it slower than it was. I'm going to give it a couple days. It might need some time to settle.

Just received the update 5/11/18.. But with issues being reported, I refuse to pull the trigger and bring 8.0 online at this stage.

I haven't experienced any issues so far and updated yesterday. Face unlock seems to works well. Maybe not so well in poor lighting. No touch issues no lag. Plan on doing a factory rest tomorrow and starting fresh. Will test battery life and SOT. I use YouTube vanced and PIP mode works well. No connectivity issues with wifi. Bluetooth seems to connect faster than it did on Nougat. Over all really happy with the update. Just waiting for fireware images and warranty to be up before I root. With Nova Launcher no real need for custom rom although I kind of want to try LOS 15.1, have it on my Nexus 5 and love it. But so far the Honor 7x has been a solid phone.

Excellent Review Of 8.0 !
Thanks.. :good:
But Stop It!
You're tempting me on this beautiful lazy Saturday afternoon to do my full wipe and install it before I move on to a Snapdragon 636 Engine device... And I don't want to do that.. I wanted to save that thrill for the new owner !
I had speed and smoothness issues after Oreo update on my Mate SE. Factory reset has fixed all issues and phone is smoother than it has ever been. Camera boots faster, scrolling smoother, longer battery life than before. If you're having issues, factory reset, you won't regret.
Update here.
After a day or so of letting Oreo update settle down, phone is running smoothly. So no complains here.
Great work honor. Feeling happy again

So, I manually flashed the recent OTA. Felt like sharing what I have noticed.
For one thing, EVERYTHING is snappier. Going into recent apps is fast, home screen and apps don't take forever to load. That's a definite improvement. If it changes after running for awhile, I'll update.
Google Now's Always On voice recognition now works. I couldn't get it to work while away from the Google Now launcher before the update.
Uncertain about battery consumption with browsers yet. I'm hopeful, and the back of my tablet not being a toaster oven all the time while browsing on Xda gives me hope, but again, this is me just being hopeful.
Nothing for enabling the notification LED yet. Weird.

Thanks for the impressions. Hopefully the excessive power usage while using browser is fixed or will be soon.
I will note though that even though it shouldn't need to be used to avoid using Chrome, I think that using Tapatalk to browse XDA is a better experience. IMO, of course.

That heat is coming from the processor, that just means it's just under heavy load.
Sadly, WiFi 802.1x auth still doesn't work (PEAP) and the "Sign-in to Wifi network" screen is still blank for me. (Tested with Cisco Wireless LAN Controller at work.)

I've noticed the same thing. Basically the stutter and lags have pretty much been fixed. For those wondering the home screen refresh has also been fixed.
I've been testing battery life today in combination with the chrome beta browser. Where I used to get 4/5 hours of sot with a single charge I'm now at 4.15 minutes of sot with 52% of battery left.
The new update has done wonders for the n9 and it just shows how much lollipop is still in it's infancy and still needs some updates to get everything sorted out. I'm sure it's the same for the Nexus 6.

I think he is referring to the re-draw that seems to occur randomly when returning back to the home screen. Based on the impressions I may just flash the factory image to LRX21Q if these improvements are widespread. I still haven't received the OTA and can't sideload it because my tablet is still on the pre-release BL for some reason.

It feels faster for sure, doesn't seem to get as hot either but maybe it does.
Yes I definitely see the improvement. I was one of the first buyers on the first day. But the unit I got has defected NFC chip. I returned it and got a replacement. Latest update definitely fixed the stutters and lags. I can vow for this.

Just a heads-up, this OTA provides a VERY significant performance improvement - there was a Kernel regression that they fixed on this build regarding memory cgroups. Its very noticeable while using the tablet with this new patch.
I haven't noticed a difference yet but I didn't do s full wipe when I flashed.
Hello everyone!
So I have been having these battery issues since April security patch. the phone gets really warm to the touch even by doing the simplest of things like browsing and watching youtube. Android OS keeps the phone awake 80% of the time and I am only getting 2-3 hours of use throughout the day. Restored the phone to factory settings(fresh start, nothing restored) three days ago and still the same issue. Android OS drains the battery life even though I made sure that only google apps are installed on the phone.
But today things got even weirder. I disabled Google Now and location services as a test and the battery drain and heat issues were gone temporarily. I was getting a great battery performance from morning to afternoon. I check my battery stats and I notice that Google services mysteriously drained 17% of my battery life and that it's been running for 21 days straight? That's impossible since I just did a fresh reset to the phone three days ago. I rebooted the phone and that "Google services" drain changed to WiFi instead?! That's crazy!
I contacted Google store support team and they have been really helpful so far. They offered to replace the phone with a refurbished unit, but I don't think I am ready to give up on this phone just yet.
Thank you!

I hate to recommend this, but sometimes things go out of wack after a SW update, so a hard reset would probably be needed. I would try that (just start from zero) before jumping into a refurbished phone that might have some other kind of issues. Have you tried a hard reset yet? I see that you did a fresh reset. Did you go through the recovery though? Not just the regular UI. I think it's better to clear cache, and every thing through the recovery (custom or stock).

Is it a widespread issue? Like I said in my post, I saw the decline ever since I got the April security update. The May patch actually managed to make things worse. There seems to be something hidden in the OS that it's draining the battery and causing the awake issues. I haven't tried rooting the device because I lack the experience to do so. I will probably look into it on these forums, but at this point I have tried everything.
Disabling Google now helped a lot and it exposed some sort of a glitch with the stock battery monitoring app. I am not sure if it's hardware or software, but it's certainly not normal. I am tempted to just replace it, but I am afraid that this issue will just plague the new one from Google. I am really disappointed How Google handles updates on this device. I always thought that stock android is most stable version of android, but the software on my old Xperia Z is actually more stable than this. It never had battery drain issues and standby battery life was always great. The battery life on Nexus 6P is actually worse than the Xperia Z even though that phone is 3 years old.

I've seen a lot of posts over the months with people having the same problem we are. I came from a mid range LG stylo with a snapdragon 610. I would have 8 hours screen on time daily. Its sad that goggle cant get the same out of their own hardware. Also I have seen that the Note 5 and S7 Edge both get better battery life as opposed to our stock phones. For as much as people praise stock and look down on Touchwiz, they are doing something right over there.
But it doesn't affect everyone and that what puzzles me. Only certain phones are hit by these issues, while other people are getting excellent battery life. I have seen plenty of people post screenshots of 6 hours+ of on screen time. I am lucky to get 3 hours. I think Google should really invest in creating a better power management system into Android. Companies like Sony and Samsung built their own and the battery life on their devices always perform predictably relative to what I am seeing on this phone. I have never witnessed The doze feature kick in since I have bought this phone. Sony had stamina mode since 2013 and it actually worked.

Most of those people posting those outrageous number root and do kernel tweaks. I've gotten at most 6 hours SOT on stock without root. You are right our phones do all react differently to certain circumstances. I don't know if it's feasible to you ,but you should try rooting and trying out a few Roms some help others don't. If you aren't into Roms and decide to root try earlier vendors and stock roms and see it those work. I'm not an expert by any means just my suggestions.

Well, the fact that you are having great battery life proves my point. It's either that the quality control of the batteries used on these phones are terrible, or that the software or kernel are corrupted from factory causing these issues. There is no way to fix them by hard reseting the phone so far. I am going to try to flash a stock rom on this device and see what happens. Thanks by the way.
1) Are you rooted? If not, at least do that and install BBS in order to track down what's eating your battery.
2) Probably we'll run into a common problem / bug the last two months.
After unplugging the phone, it seems that the wakelock *backup* runs constantly, does not let phone get into sleep, and runs in the background while using your phone causin battery to drain faster.
3) About battery life. Comparing battery results between two users it has no point, unless you really now his usage pattern. Not only the setup, but which apps of them used most etc.
For example Facebook app is real battery eater. I've seen an hour more SOT without this app.
I can give several examples like this.

Everything was doing great in android 6.
how can I downgrade to Android 6?
Which version are you using?
If you use the beta 7.1.1 then don't post bugs like yours.
Wait for final version.
Before that do a reset and test your phone again.
Otherwise look also for apps like wakelock detector or better battery stats in its alarm section.

Maybe some issue with your signal or configuration, because with my phone I can get easily 4-5 SOT and at least one day of usage with everything synced, WhatsApp, 3 mail accounts, GPS, Google Now, etc.

Maybe some issue with your signal or configuration, because with my phone I can get easily 4-5 SOT and at least one day of usage with everything synced, WhatsApp, 3 mail accounts, GPS, Google Now, etc.

Yeah signal is a big battery drainer, I have low signal in my home and my battery drains like hell, I always keep the phone on charger when I'm here lol.
Once I'm outside though my battery drains much slower.
Fricking network providers and their weak ass antennas, haha.
I don't even have a SIM card in. I just use the phone for gaming.
I probably have something wrong with my unit, becouse it seems like the battery is perfectly calibrated on 7.1.1 and no draint whatsoever, today managed 6h of sot, with some antutu, youtube, play store downloading, 4g+ and snapchat going on. I mean now when i lock the screen on certain % it stays, but on mm it dropped 2-3% after locking

I have the same experience, is going really good so far.
Hmm time to refresh old post.
A2017G B04 full stock.
Since I got B04 my SOT dropped from ~5h to 2,5-3h. BTW. I already tried factory reset, cache cleaning from bootloader - no positive results.
Same with mine... Some reported it's due to bad cell signal is causing battery drain

cmon zte chinize phones suffer from this too i didnt have this on B13 7.1.1 a2017
*Battery drain very fast even screen off
*Slow charging again
*Low sound in speakers
*Camera quality poor
*Over heating also when not in use
*Sometimes screen shows black/white
*Apps still crash
How much you have issue from these??
I can feel that battery can be a bit worse, my battery drains more when I watch YouTube, but no overheating or slow charging. Everything except battery life is good for me.
Yes, battery draining is huge....
After updating i see very often my wifi not working, it's randomly disconnecting

Well, I didn't want to update since they updated the bootloader and now I can see that was a good choice. In your case I'd flash back the april build since it's stable.
The the May update for version 8.0 cause a wipe after unlocking the boot loader? Or is that only happening on 8.1 beta update?
Can someone clearly confirm, please?
what the fook do beta testers do
simple bootloader unlock will wipe data too.
From what i read here it is beetter not to update but wait....
Luckily I can't relate any of below listed issues!

Yes, it's always better to wait patiently and observe, not rush into something without informing about it.
No issues here, in fact it's the best build released yet imo
For me it's better than April one.
Zero issues so far. I did a clean install a couple of months ago because clearing my GSF to get Oreo quicker (I know, I know ) led to some issues. Have been enjoying this phone twice as much since. The clean install made my phone a very stable device once more and I've had zero updates with this and previous update so far
I dont know what you guys do to your phone, really.. Last May update up and running without ant issues (stock 8.0)
I can´t notice any difference. Seems to be only a security patch.

Yup, Unlocking bootloader does wipe your data when in your May patch.
No issues here either, all running sweet as before.
Everything's fine for me. Let's not panic over one single report of issues.
To OP, I guess you've already tried to fully stop and restart the phone (not just hit restart button)? If this does not help, I know it's painful, but Hard Reset could solve your problem.
Last option is go to warranty to get it fixed.
Hi,
I have been using this phone for a year now. I really feel we got more preformance after oreo. The phone is pretty smooth after all the hassle. I do think we lost a bit screen on time with the os update. I feel that is many times the price of getting more speed. Anyway i tried for a while my G4 rooted + optimized. My conclusion is that optimized + sabs and non rooted s7 edge is really fast phone. I see no lag. I feel this phone has a year left in it and thats actually impressive knowing its 2,5 years old.
I tried Oreo without factory reset. My experience was that some of the apps did not function well. So i did the factory reset and all works now. I think its only smart move after os update. Now i will just clear system cache after minor fixes.
The last as good deal was lg g2 to me. Love your phone still its in the competition with never phones. After year i bet we see improvements that will make many of us consider changing to a next generation of phones.
Btw. Did anyone else get the stability update after oreo? What do you guys think of it? My feel is that now almost 100% is working and smooth as a butter.

You need to specify what version of the phone you actually have.
Thanks for the comment.
I edited the first post to give the model of my phone

I have moved back to nougat and stayed there for now, i did not mind the cell drain as it still lasted me all day, however i had random reboots as soon as i moved to official Oreo or even custom rom with 8.0 base, did not matter what i did the reboots would get worse over time. I moved back to nougat and not one reboot experienced, Oreo for me is good when it worked and would love to use it but drove me crackers when rebooting. SM-G935F

This is actually intresting. My phone did random screen freeze and couple of reboots in nougat, but on Oreo that is not happening to me.
But i do definetly have the cell drain still after the last update. I kind of woke up by the fact that i have lost about 1h screen on time. Yes i am a heavy user so thats the first que for something is eating the battery.
What kind of cycle your battery lasts average and how is your SOT on nougat? My is average 27hours on time hours and sot 5-6 hours

I am unable to advise you on SOT as i don't monitor this, i am running a custom rom with nougat base (Sac23 S8 port) i have a battery life of between 29 and 32 hours, never really goes past 40% remaining at the end of the day.
