My S8 is with android 8 however the last update was in February, (Security Patch is from February 1st) My build number is with the final (XX1CRAP) until today. Could someone tell me if I should receive the update via Ota? Or would it be better to upgrade for ODIN ... on Sammobiles ?? Thanks if anyone can help me.

My question is that I'm afraid I'll have some trouble updating the odin. I did a while ago an update by odin on a note 3 and went wrong. A triangle appeared on the screen and had to be taken to technical assistance. I have all downloaded files here with the newest odin. but I do not know if I update or not.

if you are already on oreo, you can then use the update.zip files posted here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/discussion-oreo-final-t3746561 and just flash from SD Card using the stock recovery.
You dont need to deal with Odin then. I've done my first flash to OREO (CRAP) via odin with full wipe. Then flashed the incremental updates from SD card and nothing went wrong.
Hope this helps.

Hi!
I have an Indian Version of S7 Edge G935FD and I wish to flash the BTU version for the Nougat update.
I have a few queries first:
1. Can I use an Indian Sim (Or Any other country's Sim)on the rom? (The packaging has the Indian Sim Only label)
2. Will the network be smooth? I use 4G here. Are there any issues that I may face or any one of you faced?
3. Anything else I should know?
Thanks!

1. Can I use an Indian Sim (Or Any other country's Sim)on the rom? (The packaging has the Indian Sim Only label) - Yes, you can use your normal SIM
2. Will the network be smooth? I use 4G here. Are there any issues that I may face or any one of you faced? - Yes, your network will work normally. You won't notice any difference. The only thing you won't have is VoLTE.
3. Anything else I should know? - Only do this if you want Nougat NOW. Otherwise wait until it's relased on your firmware. But you won't have any issues.
Thanks!

Thank You for the quick reply!
Yes. I am too excited for Nougat so I'm unable to control myself. The issue is there is no word on when the Nougat will come in India. The samsung officials have no comment except "There is no update about it yet" or "we do not have official timeline for nougat update in Indian market"
An official word on an estimated time frame for the update would work wonders. Is there any reason why I should wait?

One last question. The link given in another thread doesn't work or has download limit. Is this (https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G935F/BTU/) the correct site for official signed btu ?
and I am downloading odin and instructions from here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-galaxy-s7-edge-nougat-ota-update/
Lots of info in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/android-7-0-s7-edge-uk-beta-program-apk-t3493696
Or this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/nougat-coming-january-17th-t3535831
Downloading from samfirmware is slow for non-premium members. There are other download links in those threads.
And yes, those instructions for Odin/flashing are correct.

Finished the flashing process! Odin sort of showed a not responding title after I selected the ap file but I figured it was doing its job and waited patiently. It paid off! It finished loading and I started and flashed successfully. Boot up was fine and now I'm downloading a 1291.19 gb update!

I'm a relative noob to flashing rom's. Can someone tell me if I'm understanding this correctly?
Installing this update will *unroot* my phone? So after installing this update through odin, I will need to install twrp again while in download mode? And then, once that's installed, reroot my phone?

I don't have a Verizon SIM card. Does anyone have a update.zip or a tool so I can upgrade? When I check for updates it fails because I don't have a SIM card inside.
Tried taking the OTA but keep getting an Error 402.
I odin'd back to stock using the method on this site and even factory reset after as well.
Anyone know what the error is?
Or does anyone have an alternate way to update? I'm currently on PE1.

I just downgraded back to Oreo from DRL5 Pie build last night. I Odin back to CRK1. From here you can stay or update to latest Oreo build. After I flashed CRK1, I did have to go into recovery and wipe data/factory reset. It will just remove everything from your phone to factory defaults. Make sure you remember your google login details or you could get locked out of your phone. And back up your photos and stuff. I'm on sprint s8+.

Hello guys, I have just now heard that At&T is rolling out the Android Pie update to the S8 Active. Unfortunately, I do not have a AT&T SIM card on my device currently. This causes my phone to not get ANY updates. The only update I last got was when I sent my phone to a Samsung Technician after I bricked my phone from failed root attempts. I am currently in Android 8.0.0. Is there any way to flash any Pie firmware to my phone even though it is Bootloader v3? Any help is GREATLY appreciated as I am getting so tired of Oreo. I tried using Smart Switch but it says my phone is in the latest firmware update which is a lie, my security patch level is July 2018...
Edit: I have recently unlocked my phone from AT&T in hopes of getting an update, but I didn't know the firmware would stay. And no, I do not have ANY access to AT&T SIM cards or stores.
Edit 2: Solved! I just used a firmware download I got from this forum because sammobile.com did not have it here it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bw-cYNY1KoEH4Pa-a9dJRQJW09r_uw93/view Just flash this firmware to your phone from Odin! This does not risk breaking or voiding your warranty if you still have one! I am enjoying Pie right now! Give thanks to the who supplied me with the firmware link and youdoofus who actually responded to me. I just wanted to be assured that the firmware that is Pie will be good for my device. This is for people who do not have ATT SIM on their phone or cannot receive update. Model number must be from ATT and SM-G892A!

the problem youre going to run into is the availability of firmwares for your phone. sammobile.com/firmwares was a bust, looking elsewhere for ya. But if you have a computer, usb type-c cable Odin and the correct firmware version and are able to get to download mode, then you should be in good shape.
So I have a firmware at hand with my phone model that is pie, if I update it through Odin, will it void my warranty? Or will there be any chance it will brick my phone because I have done this many times. If it wasn't for ATT bootloader v3 I would've not been asking all these questions. I have already used sammobile.

Since its just an update, you are able to keep your data if you put HOME_CSC in the bottom box. So, yes use every file if you want to keep your data. If not, put CSC where its supposed to be and thats it. I don't have access to my computer but thats what I did. You don't need factory reset. Just go to any "How to Install Any Firmware Update through Odin" Video on YouTube and you should see a good tutorial. It is just an update. I hope I fixed you problem! Don't be nervous about updating, only be nervous when you flash a ROM on it!

nothing other than having the correct version of Odin for your phone and ADB drivers installed along with the correct firmware files. And yes the Home_CSC is to not factory reset, and the regular CSC is to factory reset it
