Hi guys,
My s5's screen has broken and i need a new one. Also i want to buy that on the aliexpress but some lcd screens in the aliexpress are dont have brightness setting or dont have Samsung logo on the over. In fact, if you buy a orijinal lcd or a+ quality screen on the aliexpress, will you give link me? Thx.
I've installed a few of these 'Chinese Copy' screens and they are only worth doing if you are seriously short of money. Taking your points in no specific order:
The Samsung logo is always present on every one I've had. You never see it in the pictures because of some licensing condtion that says that you can only put the name on a completed product (or so I'm told). The screens will have a scratch-and-sniff patch covering the logo, which you have to remove (carefully) with the edge of a coin or something similar.
They have all had just two (or three) brightness settings ('dimming' in the test menu will show this) rather than being continuously variable
The colour rendition is crap
The color schemes thing where you select 'cimena', 'photographic' or whatever don't work. Can't remember official name for this
Doesn't support touch hovering
Some don't support multi-finger touch (some do)
The glass is little more than thin plastic and bends/breaks easily
They are significantly thicker than normal, so they won't sit in the housing properly. No amount of glue will make them sit properly (and they will bend anyway)
The screen area is several mm smaller in both dimensions. The space between the Samsung logo and the screen boundary is v noticeable unless it's a black screen
The TSP and glass can not be separated, even with specialist hardware
TL;DnR Don't bother.

Really need help here,
My hermes suddenly decided that visuals are no longer needed.
That means the screens stays off all the time (yes even in bootloader mode).
It works, receive calls and flashes roms but in no situation can I see anything on the screen (pitch black screen).
I've got no warranty so I took it apart and checked each cable and connector - no issues were seen. I tried changing SPL-s, RUU, Roms all worked but left my tytn with that black screen.
Did anyone see this happen or has any advice?
This sucks big time :-(
No one? Oh man, I guess it's dead then :-(
Last bump before giving up and throwing it away - please?
send it to me if your gonna throw it away : - 0
I've given up on mine as well. It has white screen though. Where do I dump this thing?
If it is out of warrenty, I would take it apart as is sounds like the hardware, check the connections to the LCD. Does the backlight still work, or if you put it in strong sunlight, can you see the LCD working?
My Hermes had a white screen also. I found that if I squeeze the bottom right hand corner whilst resetting it would sometimes work. It seems there is a chip on the switch board that needs the right ammount of pressure on it. I think it was a design flaw as the herm200 and 300 are different. If applying pressure works and you are confident enough take the hermes apart and put a couple of small pieces of plastic or paper between the front buttons and the small square chip on the switch board. This worked for me.
The service guide is available if you google. Let me know if you need more info.
As for the black screen that sounds more serious sorry not seen that one.
what are you guys willing to sell your pdas for? Mine fell in a puddle and i need one for parts. The white screen might be fixable the first couple of times but then it dies off for good, the black screen i've never heard of.
So if you want to sell for a reasonably cheap price let me know, i can buy a new keypad online for $50. So around there would be nice!

I just tested this on mine and actually got some results.
mines the opposite though, it will NOT work with any pressure. I left all the screws loose for that board under the buttons, and left the LCD assemble screws out on that end and it works, But if I press the keys it whites out again and won't come back until I repeat the dis-assemble/re-assemble
I had a similar problem but this was after someone dropped mine on the floor. The screen would just be white screen, while everything worked. If I pressed the bottom right of the phone it would sometimes come on and stay on for a little while but would eventually always go to white screen.
I did manage to use the phone but had use a program called Net Control which allowed me to control the phone over WIFI with the phone screen shown on the PC. Got the phone replaced in the end by the people who dropped it.
i got the flex cable and my phone still has the white screen problem....wtf///
Hello,
for first I've already read some topic covering the white screen problem. I have the white screen every time on my Hermes since booted. Going into bootloader also shows white screen. I don't see any signs of misalignment.
I've already taken apart my Hermes and reconnected all connectors I've seen, including D-Pad connector, tightening and loosening the screws by it. I see there's nothing else I can fix without replacing any parts (or am I wrong?) What should I buy? Do you think that the actual screen may be faulty? Or maybe the flex is damaged and I should buy it? (well I think that some chip is connected to flex so I don't know if it can be replaced anyway). My main question is: if the screen is all white, is it possible that the actual screen be faulty?
It could be a number of things which could amount to $$$$ by throwing parts at the phone - may be cheaper to just buy another. Before the completely all white screen did you have occasional white screens with increasing frequency? First try some of the fixes for correcting whitescreens - pressure on the dpad - etc. If you still get nothing the chip could have come loose - but who knows?!!!! Need some more information - history etc.
Unfortunately don't know the history... bought cheap off ebay hoping it can be easily fixed already ordered the screen, if no luck, will send as spares/repair in my country - should earn something anyway.
i have a fault with mine some times (well a lot now) when i open it or close it all the way i get a funny fuzzing on the screen and some times it just ends up going black, move it back and forth a bit and the screen collour is inverted. i have to press the power button twice once for off then back on and it stays normal collours till u move the screen again. is this called white screen?
Not really - yours should be an easy fix. Seems like the flex cable is either loose or cracked slightly. It only occurs when you slide the keyboard out right? Any problems with the front keypad - with the unit closed?
I finally didn't avoid dropping the Blade, although it is in a silicon case wearing outer protector sticker too. It fell face down i think on another item (they were in a fanny pack). Unfortunately, there was a crack all across the display when i checked it out. So i took the phone apart, found the display part that i need in ebay. The thing is every part either clips or zifs, except for the display itself and the volume button. The display was glued on the frame with some kind of stickers, i wonder how i should go about and install the new display, because it appears the two stickers are on the frame and not on the display so i guess there will be no stickers on the new part and the sellers specifically state "instructions not included, make sure you know what to do yourself". I have found instructions on outer screen change, but not for display change. The same applies for the volume button which was glued on the frame. Should i use some kind of glue for the display? And if yes, what kind of glue? Or should i search for these special stickers? And where would i find these, if they re not even mentioned anywhere i looked at? Thanks for any info guys..
Bought a Galaxy S4 on ebay a few weeks back. Didn't notice it at first, but when I sat down to apply a screen protector and wiped the screen clean, I noticed there is some sort of a micro object, like a white dot just under the glass. It is not a dead pixel, because it is there when screen is completely off, and when I tilt the phone and hold it at an angle I can see that LCD under this tiny dot is clean.
What the heck can it be? I doubt the seller changed the glass screen and wasn't careful when cleaning the LCD, but I suppose it is remotely possible since the phone has a nasty scratch with tiny chunks of plastic chipped off, on the bottom right corner of the silver bezel.
Anyone had a problem like this with their screen? Any way to fix this short of removing the screen?
Could be dust under the screen. If I was you I'd get it replaced if it bothers you. I dont think there is no way to remove it other than removing glass to clean it and reapply which I advice against.

Im sick of this synaptics ts.
I would like to change it to atmel.
Do i need a toucscreen with digitizer?
You can get it on eBay.
You can either buy only the touchscreen (the plastic) or touchscreen with the frame (dark colored chrome effect). I personally have bought both, and can say it doesn't make a big difference. When you only buy the touchscreen, you have to remove the old touch screen from the frame (it's glued) & replace it with the new one (some glue should be added). I also bought one with the frame attached, but the glue was not good so I had to reattach it anyway.
When buying with the frame, make sure the speaker is "small". As far as I know all normal U8800 have the smaller speaker, but I can't be 100% sure on this.
To distinguish between Atmel and Synaptics, check the color of the ribbon cable. Atmel is golden on one side (it should also say Truly somewhere). Synaptics is black on both sides (it also tells TM-1564 on the cable). Some sellers allow you to select it, or you can ask for the specific one yourself.
