Miracast feature is not available on Moto G4 plus. Before selling phone for this reason, can anybody suggest me if they know some working customs roms supporting miracast feature?
(If possible please provide the list of such roms with pro and cons)

I am a moto g(2013) user and I found out that the development of moto g4/g4 plus, compare to the previous models,is extremely slow or even no significant progree at all.I wonder if it is the unpopularity of this device,or the difficulty in developing this devices from scratch. This bother me so much that I consider buying the moto g 2015 rather than this
Me too.. All moto g series phone are booting 7.0 but we are still way behind..
in my experience all of the moto series of devices have slower development. the G4 isn't a very popular phone for most devs, its a budget device. personally stock, rooted, elementalx and substratum are perfect for me right now. we should have android 7.0 by the holidays.
Why don't you develop some stuff instead? That way, we will have more things to flash.

are substratum themes fully compatible? can i fully theme notifcation bar etc using substratum?
You want faster development? Buy an extra G4Plus and send it as a gift to a developer. I know a couple that took the task of developing CM13 for various phones because they got the devices free.
I want to get rid of my Honor 7 which is totally dead regarding ROM support (and EMUI is awfull) and I want to choose a device with good support from developpers, especially for CyanogenMod.
I like the G4 Plus (especially because of it's fingerprint sensor) but I'm worrying that it will not have same support as the G4 version.
Are the ROM easy to port from G4?
Is it safer to choose the G4 or do you think the G4 Plus will catch up and gain the same activity ?

This kind of post should go in the "questions and answers" of the device, I can tell you that by reading the contents in the development sections, it seems the opposite.
G4 Plus seems more supported than the regular version, although I could be wrong.

It's true, wrong section, my mistake, and thanks for your answer!
Each rom here , support both g4 and g4 plus , there is no specific rom for either g4 plus or g4
I was just wondering if anyone thinks we will ever get a port of the MIUI or EMUI roms or ones like them? Someone may already be working on one but I think having one would be awesome. Anyone have interest in these roms other than me?

Yes, MIUI with all the features would be a great experience.
Miui 8 would be awesome... would totally use it if no major bugs

I just read that AOSPA is in the works again, it would be awesome if they supported Potter as well. So many roms I want to flash and try!
MIUI a definite must. Love that setup!

Was reading on their G+ page that there is already a booting version of AOSPA for Potter. :good: they're just testing it along with the One Plus One and a couple other devices
Currently I have played a bit with ubuntu via linux deploy, but I would really like to have something more native like ubuntu touch.
And I am happy to know and also to tell you that the project is going very well, maintained by the Ubports Team and that the Halium project can make everything more pleasant not only for ubuntu but also for other linux projects / distributions.

Generally people buy Moto phones for stock android if you are interested in MIUI you should have bought Redmi note 4 which is even cheaper then Moto G5 plus and has 64 android Although miui looks like bloat and cheap mock off of iPhone to me.
I'm in the US on the Verizon network the redmi note doesn't work here on Verizon. I was just asking about general interest in the very popular MIUI and EMUI ROMs. They exist for dozens of devices that aren't redmi devices.

I didn't bought my moto g5 plus for just using stovk android i bought it because it is high end processing device and works perfectly i just want some more customization and want to use different roms mostly emui (not miui).. and yes emui doesn't look like any of that it's cool and more vibrant
MIUI and Flyme Os! emui 5
MIUI 9 and Flyme OS(whenever it will be launched for nougat) are the most awaited roms For MOTO G5 PLUS! Even EMUI 5 Is good and feels like stock android with app drawer n Customizations!!

Sorry I sound rude but I wanted to say that even if Moto G5 plus has 64bit processor it doesn't have 64bit os and never will be on the other hand Redmi note 4 has 64bit os also. So in my opinion people bought Moto because they love stock os over miui.
Both phones (Moto G5 Plus and G5s plus) have same hardware except for camera and display. Afaik, camera is the only hurdle on the software side that is preventing a direct interchangeability of firmwares between the phones.
So, is it possible, with little modification, to have G5s Plus firmwares (and custom ROMs too) work on G5 Plus and vice versa?
If my assumption is wrong, what other bottlenecks are there? Can they be overcome to achieve interchangeability?
If we somehow figure it out, we'd have a huge merged community with great support and more custom ROMs. It'd also ease the software development for both devices.
Immediate benefit would be getting the Oreo on one device from the firmware of the other, depending on which gets the update first (And thereby, future updates too)
Also, if anyone is willing and has a phone with unlocked bootloader, please try flashing G5s Plus 7.1.1 firmware on G5 Plus using fastboot (may be skip unnecessarily partitions, but then again, I have no idea how to go about it).

I am also really curious about this. I don't have one, so I can't test this out, but will probably buy one in the next month or so. If this would work, it can dramatically improve both groups.
I was going to try, but i don't jave any replacement device right now and i don't wanna mess up.. hope someone can help us

Exactly my situation. If I had a backup phone, I'd have already tried.

Just a heads up, there are very popular steps of getting out of a hard brick scenario with this phone fairly easily. The following link is one example:
http://www.aryk.tech/2017/09/moto-g5-plus-unbrick-solutions.html
That being said, I can't blame you guys for not wanting to test it under your situations. Hopefully this can be figured out quickly, so that we can make some progress with the Moto G5 plus.
I am currently useing an Asus Zenfone 4 ZE554KL and it's the worst phone I ever owned. Updates from Asus is horrible and their Android skin is terrible. There is no community support for this device for 3rd party ROMs
I am looking at this phone as it has a headphone jack and a minimal notch. As it seems with every Android manufacturer besides Google, updates will be just as slow and that's unacceptable to me.
I am looking at this phone in hopes that it will support 3rd party ROMs such as Lineage OS or Pixel experience. I want to take my own control over updates.
Will this phone support 3rd party ROMs?
I don't do ROM development, but I believe some developers will because it should have good sales.
What about a treble compatible gsi?
What are you looking to get ported?
Preferably, anything that is as close to stock and direct from Google.

We already have that with Stock lol. We got released Pie with a new clean look. I might look into an AOSP variant if that is what you are interested in, but that would be barebones.
While I appreciate that the G7 has stock Android, I see Motorola is still as slow as everyone else when updating there line as phones. If the community does it faster than Motorola to update to Android Q, then I will feel that this should be my next phone.
I am considering buying a moto 7 too. It is slated to get the Q update but nothing beyond.
I'm more interested in using custom ROMs such as lineageos which is google free. That brings up the question of whether the Moto 7 can be rooted (and unroofed). Does anyone know?
