phone doesn't show contents on sd card - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

I am having this problem that I can't see the contents on my sd card, the card is fine it is detected by the phone and it does keep pictures, but when I connect it to laptop I can't see any files at all. In my last phone a samsung I cold easily move files from phone to pc and the other way, but I can't figure it out with Huawei.
Hisuite has not helped at all, is there anything I need to do in the phone to be able to see the contents of sd card? or is there another software I can use? how do you manage your files on sd card?

New HD2...miscro SD card problems

Hey,
I was wondering if someone could help me out. I just got an HD2 today and am trying to transfer some cab files from my computer to the phone.
I hook up them up and when I open browse the memory card from my computer all the files don't show up.
Then when I put the cab files under my documents on the SD card and unplug the phone from computer..the files don't show up under the file manager..
What do I do?
Edit:
I also formatted the SD card...to no avail
When you connect your phone it should ask you active sync or disk drive. Click it to disk drive and that should let you get files on to your storage. Why did you have to format your sd card to begin with?!

[Q] SD Card Not working

I got the 16GB Card with my phone. I first(before first use) removed the SD card and re-inserted it. Then I started the phone.
The settings show "No SD Card". Also, the documents tab shows "SD card is full or missing". Its not detecting the 16 GB Card came with it.
When I plugged this 16 GB to my Laptop using a card reader, it works.
Also, when I inserted a 1 GB Card to the phone, it works.
Is there anybody who face the same?
Can anybody help?
First, is the phone connected by USB in Disk Drive mode when you're trying to look at the contents of the card? If so, the phone can't see the SD card when you're connected that way. If that's not the case, then follow these steps:
1) Put the card back in the reader on your PC, copy everything off the card into a backup folder
2) Put the card back in the phone, and use the "Format SD Card" option in settings-tools
3) Once it's formatted that way, connect the phone to the PC via USB, choosing the "Disk Drive" option
4) Copy everything back on to the card that you had saved in that folder on your PC
No. Its not connected to PC.
Also, I cant format the card when it is not detected by the phone.
Then still copy everything off it like I described, and then format it via the card reader on your pc instead of on the phone.
The stock cards in the HD2 are known to often have issues like this...if these steps don't resolve the issue then the next step is to probably just replace it.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA app
There are some weird WinMo bugs about storage card, have been around for years, and not fixed.
Look at your device with file manager. There may be a folder in main memory called "Storage Card", that isn't really the storage card, and the real storage card is now labelled "Storage Card 2" or something, so links to it won't work.
With file manager, rename the fake "Storage card" folder to anything else. (You can't delete it just yet.)
Then reboot the device. After the reboot, the real storage card should be named "Storage Card" again, and now you can delete the imposter folder.
I don't know if your problem is related to that one, but important to get that info out, for those not aware of it.
(Especially likely to happen on HD2, when connected to the computer with the disk drive option. When so connected, the real storage card cannot be read. Yet, if the system wants to save a file or cache to "Storage Card", it creates a new folder by that name. Later, when no longer connected to the computer, the real storage card is back, it has been renamed, as the new folder took its real name. To get it back right, follow the procedure above.)
Another possibility just occurred to me. Seems rather obvious, but it has happened to me.
Are you sure you have the card inserted correctly--all the way in?
The first time I reinserted the card after taking it out, booted up my phone, there was no storage card. I just had not inserted it correctly. That is very easy to do on this phone, you think it is inserted all the way, and it is not.
If you haven't experimented with that yet, you really should do so. Make sure the card is pushed all the way in.

Vibrant saves Droid Files

I have a buddy at work and his SD card seemed to go on the fritz with him and he couldn't recover his files. We tried copying via his phone, we tried via 2 SD card readers and even tried to plug it in my Vibrant and pull the files.
We fixed it by copying his files from his SD card to my internal 16gig memory and then we were allowed to copy to his PC. After the copying of file he formatted his SD card and then all of the sudden his phone was way more responsive and of course he could get to his files. It was almost like his phone was hanging up trying to read data off the SD card constantly and it was lagging the phone big time.
Anyways what I was trying to say we have portable SD card recovery devices in our myst. Why we were able to copy files from the SD card to internal and not SD card to PC is beyond me, but I was persistent.

[Q] View / Save SD Card

Hi guys
I could not install Zune yet, as i am away from my home PC.
One question, can one view / save stuff on the SD card , like wallpapers, and photos etc?
My phone keep prompting that it is running out of disc space....
I am not sure if there is a file manager or something like that?
I cannot view or see my SD card from the pc?
Thanks alot
The SD card must be on in the phone during first boot as the phone uses it as its "main memory" plugin it in after the first boot will do nothing as the phone won't recognize it, if you wan't to use the sd card with the phone you must do a reset while the SD card is in the phone

Using SD card from Rezound in the S5

Sorry guys, I am traveling right now and my wife needs a bit of help.
She took her SD card out of her Rezound and put it in the S5. She is trying to figure out where everything is stored as when you look at the SD card (when its plugged into the PC) its not showing all of her files?
Basically she needs to move music over and when the SD card is in she cant find anything on the phone. Is there a new format that needs to be used or does anyone know why she wouldnt be able to view the entire contents of her SD card while the S5 is plugged into the PC?
bump... I am having this exact same issue.

Click to collapse
KitKat changed how apps can access the external SD card so if you just swap a card into a KK device you will probably not be able to access all existing app files with same apps you had on the old device. When you plug it in to the PC however I'd expect that you can see everything (unless some files are hidden for some reason). So maybe her music was on the 16GB internal storage of the Rezound?
File transfer is fast on USB 3.0 so just format the card through the new phone (Settings> Storage> Format SD card) and transfer it back over. I usually create a "Music" folder in the root of the SD card and dump whatever right in when it connected to PC... I just did this on my S5 a few minutes ago and the phone saw the music when I started the Music app.
I'd consider it good practice to format the card when changing phones anyway.
