i don't care about gpu or overclocking my device.. all i want is to unplugged the n4 form charger and go working in the morning and at night before bad to put it back in the charger - without it dieing on my before..
i had htc sensation and it last all day for me, i'm now 2 days with the nexus 4 , and after 12 hours the battery is dead.
i'm currently using Cyanogenmod 10.1 18/2/13 nightly . turn off locations, and Facebook sync. using only automatic brightness (witch my the way is very low), WiFi and gps and Bluetooth always off . 3g on.
thank you!
Usage varies across any ROM/kernel combo. No one can really say what's best, because everyone's usage varies. But, I can and will say, I'm having best battery life so far using asylum nightlies with matr1x 7.0 kernel. I have a very strict setup which I'm not getting into, but I am in no way limiting the function of this powerhouse. If that makes any sense. Currently sitting at 63% with almost 3 hours screen time. 50/50 3g/wifi and heavy use. think streaming, gaming, downloads. It would take me a very long time to describe what I do to get this battery life, but I would be willing to explain if needed.

I recommend AOKP build mr3, and Harsh's kernel. No need to tweak anything, everything is done for you and you get great battery life. Just my experience from it.

I'm using paranoidandriod with Franco kernel. I get great battery life all the time every time. Download the kernel and leave the settings as is and let it do it's thing.
Note: This has been asked too many times. You can search up the old ones and you'll pretty much get the same answers that it all depends on what you do. Battery life is subjective. It depends on the user. If someone only uses their phone for calls and text they will get awesome battery life. If another person has the same setup as the first they did play lots of game and play videos and such, battery life would not be so great. Thus, both users will tell you different answers.
Just try them out and see for yourself.

There's many ways, learn to tweak your kernel, a good place to start is HERE - Lower screen birghtness, have a decent signal. If you're using your phone flat out it'll rinse your battery.
You got over 4hrs SOT in 12hrs from the average time on calculator, and 3 hrs real time more or less, that's actually not that bad, it's average-decent battery.
There's so many ways, you have to learn how your phone works really, it's all trial and error. There isn't a simple "get better battery" method.
Thanks for the input if my battery life is average then i wont worry about it anymore its just that i read a lot of users that can have 6 to 7 hours of screen time i thought my phone is defective

6-7 hours is achieved by pretty much using the device for nothing and disabling everything. People who have silly SOT's by putting the device in Airplane mode and having brightness on super low, and not using any app.
AOSP ROMs can have better battery life due to not not sucking up as many resources as a Samsung ROM. But again, you can tweak your kernel settings to suit your needs.

Thank you so much you have been very helpful, if i change my rom to AOSP how much more screentime will i get? Just an estimate is enough
Depending on the kernel you use, plus the ROM I guess 4-6 hours is achievable.

How about my case? I have 6 apps installed and on CM11 nightly, and only getting 3 hours SOT from 100% to 0%.
It's really all down to the kernel and the tweaking of it. CM stock kernel was never great for me either, use a custom one.

This thread is for battery life discussion of android 6 Marshmallow.
I took the plunge recently and installed cm13 nightly on my phone after a couple of days with sultan's cm13 ROM. One notice that the android team really got the battery optimisations right this time especially when coming from android 5.1. The cell standby and android system bug is now gone and the phone can now be in standby for a long time. My usage pattern is browsing, reading in Adobe reader, listening to mucisc with bluetooth headphones, facebook, wassup, some youtube videos, sms and few calls. I play farm heros sometimes but I don't play graphical intensive games.
Here are 2 screenshots of my phone. It was charged to 100% at 8:00am on 30/11/2015 and it still has 41% left as at 10:00am 02/12/2015 Granted I have only used it on wifi and I configured wifi to automatically disable 5 minutes after the screen is off.
You can post you battery life too.

If a moderator deem it fit, he/she can close the thread but I felt it will be nice to make a dedicated thread for Marshmallow instead of looking through a big thread to get the relevant information needed for a particular android version.

yes.
It still sucks on mobile data. Nothing changed from Lollipop in regards of mobile data battery drain and i wish google could do something about it.
That's it! It's still on LP niveau
i had around 2 hours of screen on time and less than a day's battery life. The MMS also didn't work with WiFi connected, so I switched back to CM12.
I finally charged the phone today but not before I took a screenshot. My usage is not heavy at all so for heavy users, I guess the SOT will be longer but the total number of hours the phone was on will be lower. My usage did not change form that of 5.1 but I can definitely see a great change in standby time.
Still doesn't beat out KitKat in terms of heavy usage IMO.
The performance(yield) of the battery essuperior to android 5.1. The cycle of load lasts approximately two hours more of screen.

Try Omniron Herna build, it does wonders on my phone regarding battery usage

6.0 has the same battery life as 5.x for me. about 4-5h SoT.
KitKat and early 5.0 builds were clearly better with 8h SoT
Currently running Sultan's ROM CM13:
My battery life has hugely improved when I'm not touching the phone, no one app is draining way to much battery while not in the foreground.
There is one problem some people including me have been experiencing which is that Wi-Fi doesn't switch of properly and drains the battery, the only solution I found was to reboot the device after switching it off.
Not sure if this is a CM problem or the specific rom but not AOSP.
But apart from that battery life is good.
On sultan CM 13 CAF
Getting 4-5 hrs of SOT
Still waiting on a fix for mobile radio active. Had to go back to KitKat after a year on 5.x and a week or so on cm13. The difference in battery is staggering. Here's hoping Google actually finds a solution for the drain, otherwise I'm gonna have to stick to KitKat until I get a new phone.
I dont worry much abt battery charge ..currently on CM13.. dont see much of difference ... expect charge to last for 1 day.. connect to charging when home
Tech guys suggest me best battery rom for OPO don't fun with me by saying cm11s 44s. Almost 1 year stick to cm11 I need some latest android version in my device,
I'm new to xda
Thanks in advance!
Just stole myself this glorious phone yesterday (not really.. got a smokin deal) after 3 years and a month on a Nexus 4 that was left stock the entire time. My OPO is already rooted/unlocked so I'm trying to test out and find the best rom for battery life as both of the cm lollipop and marshmallow roms I've tried are about equal in terms of buttery-ness and just stick with that rom indefinitely.
Is general consensus that cm11 kit kat is far superior to the later cm roms in terms of battery life? Which exact rom would you choose as the last rom you flash onto your OPO ever?

I Tried CM Roms not very good on drainage but you seem to have a good battery hrs. Straight wifi/date my note 3 only gets about 2 hrs all on Phronesis/Aryamad 6.5 and Aryamod v2.1
I found AryaMod S7Edge v6.5 to be the best of the lot.
Galaxy S5 port 6.0.1 is the best.

Chemical orientation of battery gets jumbled over time resulting in lesser juice than normal. Hence, it needs rest of a month or two. You better purchase a new battery and give rest to your old battery after charging it to 100% and then keep alternating the new with the old one. Means, keep one battery inside for a month or so then replace it with the other. This way your new and old battery will perform almost identical and their life will prolong as well :fingers-crossed:
My battery drains like 5 percent whenever I use my camera and phone gets warm is this normal? Thanks
Anyone recommend those extended batteries?

The best way to tell if a battery is going bad is the following.
First, Remove the battery and place it on the flattest surface you can find.
Then, using either side, try to spin it and see if it spins freely (like one of those tops).
If it spins freely, because of a slight bulge in the center of the battery, then that's a classic case of a battery beginning (or in the process of) going bad.
If it abruptly stops, as with anything flat trying to be spun, then the battery is still good. This indicates that something in your system is using up the battery.
Typically, one or more apps that may be closed, are still running in the background. One of the biggies is the Official Facebook App with or without the messenger app. The Official Facebook app and the Facebook Messenger are examples of, what's called, a Resource Hog. This is something that works hard to keep running in your system that simply requires more power to do so.
I hope that this helps and that I had explained this okay via text...
Good Luck!

With your battery still being good, there's got to be another culprit somewhere in your system that requires more resources that's resulting in additional battery power but, maybe not.
Another suggestion that I do is Freeing (aka Disabling) apps that doesn't need to run regularly and I only use from time to time. I use the app called Root Uninstaller and it doesn't only do what the name suggests but, it can Freeze apps, move user and system apps, and much more. I personally only use it for Freezing certain apps that I'm done with don't need to be running for a while. Just be careful what you Freeze in case there's a dependency for an app or function requiring it to keep going.
Just as a suggestion... I use what's called a Facebook Wrapper app that is much better on the battery and even handles the Messenger within the app as well. There's a bunch of them around and some of them are called Fella for Facebook, Face Lite, etc... I use an app called Simple for Facebook and I personally like it.
Last word... Just to let you know that the stock batteries are only made to operate for periods of time under certain conditions. Mine doesn't last much more than, maybe, 4-5 hours depending upon the amount of usage. So what your experiencing in the life of a fully charged battery may in fact be about the best your going to get from it.
I hope that I had explained this okay via text...

You may want to inquire about this on the RR thread. They may be able to provide some guidance on the battery usage.
Sometimes Custom Firmware can be a bit consuming for its battery usage.

I apologize for the delay...
This looks about average compared to my device on the stock battery.
I had one of the larger batteries and, as a matter of fact, it just went bad.
I had it for just under 2 years and am about to begin looking to see if there was a warranty/guarantee time period for a possible replacement.
I have a feeling that I may have to look for one from another seller on eBay since the bad one was bought (by a relative as a gift) on Amazon.
The larger battery may be something that you might want to look into. I can't recommend anything right now but, as a personal rule of thumb, I look for one with a good feedback history and score (keeping in mind that nobody has a perfect one) as well as how they stand behind their product they sell.
That's the best advice that I can give and I hope it's helpful for you!
