Hey All,
I have noticed that lately the Google search tab on my main screen (I am using Nova Launcher) is having an issue.
if I tap the search button then tap the microphone It will display "Listening" I speak and stop then...nothing. It stays on listening. All I can do is hit a navbar menu button to return to the home screen.
If I use "OK Google" through my Android Wear watch (Asus Zenwatch 1) it works fine and displays on the watch.
Any ideas? I have already tried erasing the cache. Must be some setting that's borked.
Thanks,
Rick

Hey everybody,
I am a proud owner of a Nexus 4 since a couple of days now. This device really blew me away. Fast, reliable and lightweight. In one word, just awesome.
Trouble now is, when using the voice command to get it to navigate me for example home or somewhere else, it shows me a google now tile with the CORRECT address, quickly starts the nav app and then shuts it down again and opens the search results for this specific address, or instead of showing the search results it shows the black navigation home screen (with voice command, home, etc on it).
Am I missing something? Do I have to adjust something in the settings?
My command is "Navigate home" or "Navigate to (address)".
Any advice?
Thanks a lot,
Erik
is there a little blue progress bar after google now pops up? I just let this run down, it's like 5 seconds, and then it starts the nav no problem. If you tap the tile it takes you to google maps instead. There is a little "navigate" button, you could tap that, too.
Hello guys,
i have stock P9 Lite, and the one thing that is driving me crazy is the Home long press button Google assistant pop-up. I Know you can turn off the assistant application by switching it to "none" under help and phone input in the phone settings, i did that, the fucntion got disabled successfully, but after couple of hours ( usually during the night ) it magically comes back to be turned on again....
Should i disable somewhere something more also?
Thanks

Personally i am using Swipeup Utility (sorry no link new user can't link) . You can set it at the long press handler and then you set it to do no action (or select one of custom actions)
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...ndroid-device-switch-back-google-now-0174676/ try this if can help you
You have to set the custom action "Google Now On Tap" to long press home button, it will open google assistant because now on tap was replaced by assistant.
Disable google app
I keep trying to do a print screen by pressing the rear power button and volume down but its very difficult as most times the volume just goes down. never had such an issue with the g4 I had
another thing is double tapping and going in through the draw password.
when double tap the screen it doesnt give you the option to draw the password. I have to swipe first then I can draw the password which is a pita. any way to enable a double tap to go straight to draw password option? why dont this people test these things?
how the hell do I disable google assistant crap "ok google" ?
1. easiest to do the screenshot with the VOL- button just before power.
2. No.
3. not sure as i like assisstant.

This one can be easier, you can use the quick memo ( Aka Capture + Plus )options and it will take screenshots for you, as i believe holding Vol down will do the quick memo screen shot if its on in the settings under ( Shortcut Keys)

This is to keep your code from accidentally being put in during pocked use if it turns on. I dont believe it can be shut off without some bigger edits to systemui

disable the google app from your app settings.

Or just disable the Google Assistant, if you prefer:
Here's how to disable Google Assistant:
1. Open Google app
2. Tap on Menu (three lines) on top left
3. Tap Settings
4. Under Google Assistant, tap Settings
5. Scroll halfway down the menu, and voila! A toggle to turn the Assistant off.
2. Funny, coming from the G3 I had similar questions. Not sure I need to swipe before entering knock code. Worked fine without on the G3. At least you can knock directly with the screen off, bypassing this, but sometimes I turn on my screen to see the notifications and the extra swipe is an annoyance.
3. Unfortunately if you disable it in the settings, then you lose the "Ok Google" from Google Now. Instead it just prompts you to turn Google Assistant back on. Similarly, if you turn on Google Assistant but don't give it Web & App Activity + Device Information data (which is every app switch you do, every movement of your phone or touch of the screen), then it takes your question but then just *****es at you.
Only workaround I've found for now (probably won't last forever) is to set your keyboard language to English US Virgin Islands, a region where Google Assistant is not yet supported. You might need the root app Language Enabler or some other method to enable that language. Hopefully someone finds a better resolution.
Hi,
I'm currently running ressurection remix for android 7.1.2, but I'm having a problem with Google Assistant. It works fine, and set up to my voice, however if I wanted to access it with the usual shortcut of holding down home, it simply brings up Google Search, which is hugely frustrating. I've scoured the settings, but the closest option to set the home button long press is Google Search.
Thanks in advance,
Dom
Solved
If anyone else had a similar problem, I found an app to install Google assistant on any nougat android, which automatically set the shortcut.
I have a Black Shark 2 Pro and decided to replace the home launcher with Nova Prime but after I press the home button a few time with would sometimes asked me again to re-enable the accessibility of Nova.
Check Nova's permissions and Battery Optimization (should be off/not optimized).
It has been a known bug since day one and hasn't been fixed ever since. You can change the locking method of your Nova by making it as admin device. Take note that this will disable fingerprint security.
I hope we get a patch for this, my friend has CN Rom and it seems to be working fine.
Okay so, Im not sure yet but I hope I fixed it, can anyone confirm this
Go to apps, then to default apps, select assist and voice input press the google icon and select "none"
by removing the Home Button Long Press functionality for the assist app I think that removed the complications of the Home Button
For me accessibility resets whenever I press the home button successively in a row, but since I removed the assist app until now Ive been pressing the home button and..... it never asked for accessibility. I pressed it like 50 times now, fast press, slow press, nothing.
I guess I fixed it? Can anyone try and confirm?
