S7 Edge - Oreo Update - Pro mode camera causes app to crash - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi
I received the Oreo roll-out for my S7 Edge (UK user; unlocked) but have realized that the pro mode in the stock camera app no longer works. When I switch to the pro mode, the phone seems to 'slow' down processing and the app crashes with a 'camera has stopped' message.
All other modes, auto/panorama/selfie/slow-motion etc are all working fine.
Is anyone else having this issue? I have already fed back to Samsung and sent an error report. I've already tried most of the usual troubleshooting issues (restarting, re-restarting, wiping the cache).
Is it just a case of waiting for Samsung of fixing the bug? Any idea how long that might be? Was going to go on holiday in a few weeks so might just roll back to Nougat just so the pro-mode works!

Hi, I had the same issue today, I've solved it by clearing camera data not and only cache.

Swipe left on the camera screen and the options will show up. I was searching all over for this too. The instructions say something about right swipe for different effects but nothing about left, thought'll give it a shot..

Worked like a charm!

Try changing secure storage to false in the build prop see if it helps
Force stop S health in application manager. Delete data as well, then press uninstall updates. That fixed it completely for me.
Confirmed to be a beast no problems here

[Q] Any way to fix camera without rebooting?

Hi, like many others I also have problem with camera on my S5(G900F). Reboot helps in my case, but after a couple of hours camera stops working. Is there any way to fix that maybe using shell or something else, just without rebooting? Thanks

Yes, but with no success
Do a clean wipe cache from recovery n see if ur occurring the problem continuously
Seems that Viber cause the problem. They fixed that in latest update. After updating everything is ok with camera..
I was experiencing same issue, camera was just black with no response and when this happened phone was getting hot and one core of CPU was always at full speed, thus battery was draining way too fast.
I noticed that it has stopped doing that lately, I'm also viber user, so it might be related to the update, anyway I'm happy that it finally is fixed :good:

Camera and youtube problem

Hi everyone,
since 4 days, i can't use any photo application, a message tells me that the device can't connect to the camera. Youtube is also not working (dunno if it's because of the same thing, but the problem appeared the same day). I tried many stuff, and the camera is not used by any other app. I did a wipe cache, data and Dalvik and even tried a factory reset without any success. Has anyone an idea how to fix this?
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

might be hardware problem
Have you tried installing a 3th party camera app from the playstore? If that also does not work it's probably like Slvano2 said a hardware problem.
Greets Aj
Hi Laurmatt,
I have exactly the same problems of camera and youtube.

No sadly not, it might be harware problem as ajokay and silvano2 said (which is weird to me since youtube doesn'T work either and the two problems occured at the same time...). Anyway my phone is still under warranty, so I think I will send it back, but the huawei support is not really fast...

Snapchat Camera Suddenly Sucks In Low Light

Hey. I have the T-Mobile V20. I love everything about it, but I checked my Snaps this morning and found out the camera just suddenly sucks in low light. It was literally working flawlessly yesterday. I've restarted the phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, cleared the data, checked the camera settings, and it's the same way. Does anyone else have this issue and/or a solution for this? Thanks in advance

Nevermind. Its back to normal now, man. The app itself, I'd agree. The camera on SC isn't the worst, in my opinion. And it was kinda like opening your camera app in low light. That's how it was acting

S8 weird camera problem

Hi guys, I have been dealing with s8 camera problem for months now and decided to ask before I smash my phone into the wall.
Problem looks simple, I start recording and it randomly stops. Its followed by quick flash(the one that you see when switching the camera on) and looks like camera is restarting. It happens after 2,5, 10 seconds or sometimes doesn't happen at all. I recorded a video of my baby and after 20s I found out that recording stopped and I didn't get anything. I tried to use a camera in safe mode, seems to be working fine there.
Does it mean that some apps interfere with camera app? Also tried cleaning the cache which didn't help. Is there a way to find what apps are causing the issue? Is factory reset best option in my case? I would add that I can see those weird flashes even when I'm not recording and camera is simply switched on.
I would appreciate any help guys. Thank you.
Do you try some other camera apk ?

Yes, they worked fine and didn't have any issues. I would like to use an original app tho because I find it much quicker and less complicated. Wonder if it's maybe related to Samsung cloud sync. I'm just too scared to factory reset lol
So you are saying that U never tried to solve the problem by doing a factory reset? That should be second thing on your list, after restarting. xD
