Hi,
I have unofficially unlocked bootloader and flashed an Oreo ROM. Now I want to go back to MIUI. What is the possible way to flash miui(recovery ROM) which would not lead to relocking of bootloader (via TWRP)

There is only way of doind it that you have to flash miui rom(fastboot) and flash unlocked files over it. Don't use twrp for that.

Hello to all! Can i do this?
Unlock bootloader - install twrp - install cm rom - re-lock bootloader?
Is this will stop freezing?
Thx!
Sent from my ASUS_T00F using XDA Free mobile app
You cant relock bootloader when you have installed custom rom
Yes you can relock bootloader .But first Flash your ROM , IMGs before relocking.
omg, of course, he can relock bootloader, but OP have cyanogenmod and twrp installed so usb logo will appear and system won't boot. Using custom rom like cm, rr etc with locked bootloader is impossible. Relock bootloader only when you want back to stock rom.
Is there a way to relock bootloader? I tried flashing stock rom via TWRP but the prompt still shows that Device cannot be trusted blalbla unlocked.
Can anyone give me a way how to relock my BL? I also tried SRK tool with relock bootloader with my Unlock code, but it doesnt work.
Thanks
EDIT: Please lock thread. I tried locking via eRecovery and it worked. Thanks
Update your device. Use the full update rom like b161, 201 or whatever you like. That will remove the unlocked bootloader and root as well.

Yes is tested: at any update (via dialer or three key pressed) with stock firmware, you lose root, twrp and unlocked bootloader (if you have root, twrp and bootloader unlocked).

Hey guys,
want to mod my freshly bought Mi A1 to the max, but I'm not sure if i should OTA first or better start modding right away?
I already unlocked the bootloader and it didnt wipe it - it also has 7.1 installed still. Generally I'm usually reluctant to do official updates because they usually make modding harder - but I tried booting the treble TWRP installer .img through fastboot (without installing it) and it failed because some partition was missing it said.. so I just want to hear if OTA is necessary to use the latest custom roms or if i can keep the old bootloader etc?
Would be cool if someone who knows could say smth about that.
Or is updating through OTA actually recommended even when not planning to ever use stock roms?

If security matters for you yes
The only thing you'll share with a custom ROM is the bootloader
Since may update locking or relocking the bootloader will wipe your data
It's your choice
but it will still work as easy as before to unlock/lock with just a fastboot command, right?
and will a custom rom work with a locked bootloader? Like first unlock, install custom rom + kernel, then relock?

It will always be that easy to unlock and relock the bootloader
No don't relock on anything that is out of stock (custom kernel , magisk, custom ROM etc) this will lead to a softbrick and you'll have to be on edl more to reflash a stock rom
What's the interest of having a locked bootloader with a custom ROM? You won't pass the safety net anyway
Just keep it unlock
You can do ota with an unlocked bootloader

What's the use of your android one device if you will not update it, that's what you pay for.

hahahaaa exactly the point
well once you have everything "perfectly set up" updates can ruin it. but yea relocking the bootloader really was a stupid idea - it was the idea to make it tamper proof but since custom kernels wont boot with locked bootloader that wouldnt work.
My last android was a lollipop version and I guess there are a lot of changes and security "improvements".
On my Huawei P10 Lite (WAS-LX1 8.0.0.367 C02 / EMUI 8.0.0) I want to flash TWRP, root the stock ROM. I want also to use Xposed, but i'm afraid to not brick the phone, I also saw something regarding FRP, bootload unlock.
If it's not possible and you consider that it's more simple to install directly a custom rom, then which one?
Somebody can guide me?
For root or install a custom rom you will need unlock the bootloader and that requires an unlock code, you can get the code with DC Unlocker but it cost you some money.

First you need to use DC-Unlocker to get a bootloader code. It will cost you 4€. Then unlock your bootloader. Then install this TWRP. It works perfectly in stock EMUI 8, but in custom roms it doesn't even boot and also make sure to use "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk" and not "fastboot flash recovery". Then flash the latest magisk. And for Xposed you'll have to use v90 beta 4 version on stock EMUI 8 otherwise you'll get a bootloop. And it's not for magisk, you'll have to flash it in TWRP.

Okay thanks,
So I decided their is an Universal Code(Key Gen.)for All Huawei/&other devices to generate an Unlock Code with the Imei Nummbers I think.
With the Right Knowing everyone could generate his Own Unlock Code.
Thanks for your Help now I Understand a bit more about Flashing and Bootloaders.

Thanks for your advices! Already done everything you said. Everything is working well, except one thing: GravityBox seems that it does no effect on my stock rom. Any idea how to make these tweaks work?

Can i flash rom via twrp? Will it work ?
No fastboot roms for fastboot mode only and you will loose root. It means you need to reroot your device if you wish
TWRP is for custom roms only.

You can either do a clean flash with TWRP/ORANGE or do flash with MIFlashTool with Fastboot ROM. (Depends of what you want to keep or lose, eg. the bootloader unlocked) with Fastboot ROM it will reset and relock the bootloader (of course you can unlocked it again with unlock tool without problem), with MIUI recovery ROMS will be the same steps as flashing a custom ROM, it might re-write the stock recovery after the reboot but the bootloader will remain unlocked.

Some apps doesn't work properly, like Netflix for example.
If you're just using regular MIUI without root or any mods like magisk better leave it locked.
You don't have to lock the bootloader when using Miflashtool, just choose "Clean all" and not "Clean all and lock" at the bottom of the ui.

No, definitely not. Unless you want to brick your device.
