LG Repair bricked my phone and won't help. - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Long story short my G6 suffered from a defect which required repair. Sent phone in for repair, got it back wiped, and now can't use it due to Google Android Protection "please sign in using one of the owners accounts for this device".
Backtesting:
- I've tried the right account(s), and have waited over a week between attempts. No password changes have been made on the accounts.
- Google said they cannot help me and to contact LG.
- LG is refusing to help, won't send me a new device either.
- Looked for work-arounds, all which seem to require accessing USB Debugging via setup exploits; unfortunately my USB debugging option is disabled when I get to it.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix this issue? The phone was only about 6 months old when it went in for repairs. Is this something I can perhaps bring up in small claims court against LG for not honoring warranty? Or possibly lemon law if they can't remedy the situation?

Did you try to factory reset again? I think this fixed that. If you tried that I sadly have no Idea what to do. I had the same issue after going back to Stock. Had to factory reset like two times in a row and it started working again.

[Q] Nexus 4 Spots On Screen

I already trouble shot it with Google but I figured I would ask here as most of you know more than they.
I already did a factory reset 3 days ago because I deleted a file I shouldn't have. But now it has come down to them recommending me do another and then getting back if it still persists.
The problem is when I turn my screen back on I see white spots all over the screen for 2-3 seconds. I can't imagine why, or even why a factory reset is going to fix.
I have NEVER dropped (cross fingers) or got it wet, and truthfully have no idea how to tell and wouldnt want to begin taking the back off.
I am most certain there is no water damage
So I have tried:
Switched Wallpapers
Turned phone off then on
Switched from Apex to Launcher
Still there. I am posting a pic below. If anyone could help I would be most grateful.
Again you prolly know more than most of their employees
One time when I had a problem, but eventually got fixed, this is what I was told, they will do an advanced replacement, BUT I have to pay $350, then get it back when they get and verify the phone I send
I am not working so would not be able to do that. I suppose I could switch to my phone of choice I have here and just send it in?
Or I was told contact LG where there is no downpayment needed.
In either case, back then I was told there was stock for this type of situation, now I am told they no longer have any? You have any idea when they will catch up
THANKS for even taking time to read this, and even more if you can help

Can't imagine what sort of hardware issue or fault would cause that, it looks like some sort of effect done by software.
You need to reset your phone and go back to the stock ROM (if not already using that) and then see if it still does it, I suspect it will not.

Phil
So this was present before the factory reset 3 days ago? If not then do it again

Thanks to everyone, as you were responding, my friend Macky (maybe you know him LOL) suspected it had to be software/app because it showed up on the screen shot. So he said it wasnt hardware
I reset again and no problem
Thanks
lets say it wasn't the app, what could have caused it. (btw I dont root so dont know all the basics you prolly do) Just simple things like the computer that get messed up??

[Q] LG repair costs

My phone is bootlooping and I can't access recovery. I can't restore the phone's stock software because I edited build.prop and it's not showing up as a Verizon phone. I decided to bite the bullet and just pay LG to reset it. However, when I contacted them to do this they told me I need to mail the phone in and they will tell me how much it costs after their tech looks at it. I'm worried if I do this that they'll charge me an exorbitant amount to fix it... Does anyone have any idea how much they usually charge to do this?
Sending the phone off to LG should be your last resort. It sounds like you've not tried everything!
Send it in to warranty. As long as there's no physical damage Verizon isn't going to give a rats a$$

Well, in another thread a Sprint tech said that LG did not give them a method to flash the stock software if the model check failed. I assumed this was the case for Verizon as well. I'll call them tomorrow and ask, I may have misunderstood what he wrote. I can't seem to find his post now. I'll update this post after work tomorrow if they can recover the phone.
theoneofgod, what is it that you think I haven't tried yet? If you have a suggestion which would save me the trouble of sending this phone in I would be super happy. To recap, here's what I've tried:
1. Using hard keys to factory reset (on TWRP 2.6.3.1 so it actually factory resets instead of booting into recovery)
2. Hitting "adb reboot recovery" over and over as TWRP loads and performs factory reset (this worked for people on 2.6.3.1 on AT&T but doesn't seem to be working on my Verizon phone for some reason. I've tried it dozens of times and even wrote a batch file which spams "adb reboot recovery" many, many times faster than I could type it)
3. Flashing the .tot file through download mode (Model check fails)
4. Flashing the .kdz file through download mode (Hangs at either 4% or 10% and asks me to restart. Never gets past 10%)
5. Entering my IMEI into the LG update tool, letting it download the software for the phone, and letting it try to flash the software (it fails)
What was the reason for bootloop? i also change my model name to make camera app show pics in menu, but it didn't help, and i returned to stock build.prop. So whats your story? Its good to know what i should NOT do with the phone.
Yea a good idea if you share what you've done so readers can be aware of it. Goodluck to your G2 pal and we're sorry for you..

Np don't mind sharing, thanks for the sympathy this definitely sucks aha. I usually add in qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to get rid of the software keys when I put a new ROM on. It worked the first time I did it on this phone, my best guess is that I mistyped something. I'm not 100% sure why this is making my phone not show up as a Verizon model during the model recovery check...someone more knowledgeable than me would have to explain that.
Melodycd, I think you should be fine doing that as long as you're careful. I was pretty careless and made a lot of mistakes to get in my position. As long as you don't do ALL of the following things you should be safe:
1. Not have the latest recovery
2. Not have USB debugging enabled
3. Mess up while editing a build.prop file so you bootloop
It doesn't matter what they can or can't do with the phone. They don't care what you did to it as long as it's not physically damaged or have water damage. Software issues can be fixed. If they couldn't flash new software they wouldn't have CLN devices to send out for warranty.
I've sent in several dozen phones that I left rooted (for legitimate defect concerns) and none were charged back. They don't need to know what happened to the phone when you call all they need to know is its not working and to send you out a device. They'll receive yours, flash it or send it back to LG to flash, then send it out to someone else as a warranty device.

Okay I'll send it in tomorrow. Thanks man, I was just worried that since the phone says "rooted" in download mode they would flip out about it. Appreciate the reassurance.

I'm just sharing my experience. Over the past 5 years I've been rooting and returning. I can't guarantee anything but i can tell you my experiences and what I've been told by vzw people I know.
I had my g2 repaired when it was rooted. My camera wasn't working atall would just show up black when i opened the app. I sent it in rooted w CWM recovery as i stupidly forgot to remove it. And i had a replacement within 5 days no questions asked.
Not sure if this is because i am in UK or not, but they didn't blink an eye.

Yep I was just worried because the Verizon phone explicitly states that it is rooted. Just to follow up for those who are on Verizon and are stuck bootlooping and with no way to flash the stock ROM, what 06stang said held true for me (so far). The Verizon rep on the phone couldn't help me (she said she needed me to put my SIM card in my G2 when I was calling her from my old phone) so I took it to a Verizon store. The dude checked it for physical damage, tried to turn it on, and when he saw it bootloop he put in an order to get me a replacement phone. I'll report back in a week or two after I send in my rooted phone and let people know what happens, it seems like they won't charge me as of right now though.

[Q] How many of you returned your Note 3 and got a problem free replacement?

My note 3 has had lots of problems. Reboots and crashed quite frequently. After the firmware update it seemed better for a few days but now its back to freezing and rebooting all the time.
Did anyone out there have these problems and then exchanged your Note 3 for a new one that was trouble free?
Did your replacement have all the same problems?
I don't know if I should try to get my money back and get a different phone. This is very frustrating.
My One was having a problem of power switch, replacement came &working fine I love this phone, first one was made in Vietnam but replacement came Made in Korea...
If you haven't tried a factory reset (back things up) give it a shot. Cleared up my final issue. I had my replacement on order and it arrives today. Won't be needing it.
I did a factory reset. During the initial setup after the factory reset the phone restarted once in the middle of me typing in my gmail account info.
Will nothing help Lord...nothing?
:crying:
Oh and it says: (this is directly after a factory reset..nothing has been installed yet..no apps...nothing)
Security Information
An application attempted to access system......

hi,
I took my phone back to Tmobile after 6 days due to issues. They gave me no problems.
This is exactly the same issue I have been having with my Note 3. Freezing up and constant restarting. It's been factory reset twice and even flashed. Nothing has worked. Can someone please help? I desperately need a replacement because I can't even use it for even a few seconds before it freezes up and goes into a reboot loop. I still have several months left on the one-year warranty. Can someone tell me how I can get a replacement from Vietnam? The website is entirely in Vietnamese and no other Samsung center will help. I've tried US, Australia and our own local center (Trinidad and Tobago), and even Amazon and the seller I bought it from. I'm now thinking of trying the UK. So far no one wants to help me and I am now at a loss. I just want to know HOW to communicate with the Vietnam manufacturers to get a replacement. I'm desperate.

Endless bootloop on nexus 6p

Hi!
I was using my phone normally, then it suddenly switched off. I got the corrupted data message as I always do when booting up. Then the Google logo came with the "Unlocked" sign under. Then the screen turns black for a few seconds before starting over. It does this endlessly. I am able to get into Fastboot mode, but from here I can't access Recovery mode. When I tried this, it continues with the first bootloop.
I've tried to "fastboot erase" everything from the fastboot screen, and flashing everything over again. This does not work. I've tried using Nexus Root Toolkit, which does not work.
I'm really lost here, and would appreciate if someone could help me out.
I feel that I've tried everything
I'm afraid you're going to have to RMA your device. I fell
victim to this also and tried everything there is to try and get it fixed but no go. Had to RMA after all the troubleshooting methods did not bring it back to life. This is an ongoing condition with the 6P's and 5X's as well. I'll give you a link you can check out.

Thanks!
What is RMA? Could I get a detailed instruciton on how to fix it, or is it unfixable? How does two year warranty from google work when I bought it from a reseller such as Telia? (I live in Norway) Do I get a completely new device from Google? I've rooted but am able to relock the bootloader. Will this get through the warranty thing?
Thanks again!
RMA is a Return Merchandise Authorization.. Now you live in Norway, I really don't know what the process is for you out there and also you might need to have a proof of purchase receipt to get an RMA under warranty. I would contact Google if that's where the device was purchased and be guided by them.
Edit: I just realized you said you got it from Telia. I would contact them and be guided by them. If all fails then contact Google, although I don't know how much help they would be.

S7 Edge - Freezing and random rebooting

Hey all,
I have a galaxy s7 edge that's 2 months old. It's randomly freezing which is forcing me to do a hard reset or rebooting. I have done a factory restart by the settings, I have done a factory restart by holding the power, home and volume up key and lastly I have done a smart switch emergency thingy-me-bob.
The phone has never been rooted or messed around with in that matter and was working flawlessly up until this point. It's running all the latest updates you can get OTA - My next step tomorrow is to go into store for them to essentially repeat what I have done for several months...wondering if anyone here has any ideas of anything else I could try? Hoping it isn't a hardware defect.
Cheers,
Tom
Had exactly the same issue. Ran it in safe mode and it still froze. Factory reset - still the same problem. Sent it off to Samsung and got it back a few days ago along with the usual note explaining that the fault had been identified, latest software had been installed and it had passed through quality control. Went through setup and within an hour it was freezing again. Not convinced Samsung did anything other than re-flash the firmware and send it back. I'm guessing that this is a hardware issue, as I have read many posts with people experiencing the same issue. It's going back tomorrow so they can try again, with a note in the box, politely asking them to dig a little deeper....
Did another factory reset and it's frozen while on the always on display svtren. Think I'll be leaving a note asking them to do a physical hardware check!
You have latest software?
As per the original post, everything is running on latest.
Any way, visited the 'Geek squad' who informed me that I had done a factory reset wrong *sigh* restarted it infront of me and would you believe it! crashed. They're now sending it to Samsung to look at who I assume will just flash it again.
Very very disappointed with the edge, compared to my OP3T it's so sluggish.
had the same problem. had to send mine to samsung. there was something wrong with the partitioning i think but in some way odin couldn't fix
Fingers crossed it's something like that is wrong with mine!
I have exactly the same problem.
I'm in aus, and bought the phone from HK, so I'm a bit reluctant to send it back to HK/China.
I've done everything... but still the same.

From what I have read, it sounds like a hardware issue. The guy are the store was an utter moron but he did say the harder it is to the fix the more likely they are to just give me a new phone. Once i get it back ill share what they've done and see if it can help fix your issue.
Mine does reboot from time to time. Once a day, once a week...
Sometimes reboots when it stands alone on charging, sometimes in my pocket. I just realizes when my smartwatch vibrates to advert lost bluetooth conection.
Lastest firmware. I´ll probably will send to warranty.
I just recently got the S7 Edge. Great phone I just hates when it does that.
