Nokia 6 Battery leak? - Nokia 6 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone
I've had this phone for about almost 5 months and last friday while i was cleaning my phone ( only the outside ) i noticed something with the headphone jack theres a sweet smell coming out of it. At first i thought it was some kind of perfume then i checked the other ports and openings ( Charging port downward speakers micro sd/sim slot ) and the same thing was there the smell was there and the smell reminds me of the battery I failed to took remove at my power bank. At the time phone was okay still charges and still works nothing new but the following day might have been worse? while were on a trip i was using waze on my phone and cellular only i noticed the battery is draining A LOT than it should Less than 1 hour and the -20% using waze idk if its normal because i also had a J7 prime using waze but when we got there its about 87% while my nokia 6 needs to recharge while in the middle of the trip so after that this monday i noticed the phone is getting warm for no reason using facebook and messenger only shouldn't make the phone hot right? the following day ( tuesday) the fast charging sometimes don't work or work sometimes the phone would charge faster than it should and there I decided to reset the phone I've observed the phone for a while smell is still there i don't let the phone die and i don't let the phone went up to 80% for safety purposes
I also contacted the Nokia support and they said to clear battery protection etc. ( Did not work )
I also went where i bought the phone and they denied my service because its beyond 7 days replacement and they told me to contact to the nearest nokia care center ( they said they will inspect the phone first before replacing the battery don't really have much time to get this on repair )
So My question is do you also guys smell it in your phone? or is it just me or is it just normal ?
TIA

:( OVERHEATING battery!! whats wrong?

attention:: long post, read fullyy
My battery really overheats now. I was at a club 2 weeks ago my phone dropped with my battery popping out! there was a tiny bit of water on it, but i put the phone in a bag of rice for 3 days. I then tried to put the battery in, it was dead. I then proceeded to go to 2 Mobile repair people and get them to look inside my phone to see if there was water damage! 1 said there was none, the other said there was some.
I found out later that my phone still turned on with a friends battery so i left my phone on the table for 2 weeks, ordered battery off of ebay. I found out that i could bring my original HTC battery to life. Charged it last night, and now SPARE Parts is telling me its too hot and overheating and it is!!.....Everything on the phone works fine, Everything! except the battery is getting VERY veryyy hottt arounnd 48-49 C. when the normal for me was 38-41 C. any ideas? i really dont want to sell the phone, i know someone would buy it with a battery problem
Battery + water is the worst equation you can have.
Overheating battery can explode (rare, but possible in your case), stop using your phone and get a new one ASAP.

I have just charged it and left it in rice today. I checked this morning and the battery didnt overheat, the temperature seemed fine. Im going to test it after work today and if it overheats ill give it away or something. But Hopefully it wont.
I know you've been on here for a while but I figured I throw down some basic suggestions if it starts doing it again.
Are you oc'd? What to, and which CPU manager do you use (CM or SetCPU)? Do you have a temp profile set for SetCPU?
Is there a process that's eating up your CPU clock cycles? DRM, Downloads, and 3D Gallery cause the Android Media process to make the CPU max out it's set clock frequency sometimes. So check that if it does it again.

Lets get this straight... your problem is with the ORIGINAL battery, not the replacement one you ordered off efag?
You smashed the new battery, its probably shorted out internally. Wait for the new one to arrive, try it out, and then come back here if it is still doing the same thing.
Order a new OFFICIAL HTC battery. You're making it seem (at least to me) that it is the battery not the phone that is acting up.

Just dried out the phone and my htc battery seems to be ok. But i dont think it will last, i might just buy the orginal one from the HTC website. The chinese batteries i got from ebay are crappy and die within the hour.....(voltage issue with my phone maybe??)
Im charging the htc battery right now, ill see how it goes, it drains 1% every 2-3 mins, i believe its a battery fault, Im just gonna order a HTC battery.
I am OC and it does overheat when doing things, but now it seems fine, the temperature reading is fine and same as what i have had back when i originally had it (before damage)
Will be buying new battery, i guess i gotta fork out the $50 for the official one
Edit** just bought the brand new ones for $10 from Ebay. I hope my phone isnt overpowering the batteries.
It wouldn't hurt to take apart your phone and clean off any corrosive material left on the board.
Just follow one of the tutorials for disassembling and use a old toothbrush and rubbing alcohol to do so. Use the alcohol very carefully and apply it to the brush directly and not the board. Good luck!

Could you link me to a video or guide doing that? Im super paranoid when taking apart something i love .
I tried the orginal battery, (temperatures fine, but went down 1% every 2-3 mins)
^^ i tried the 2 chinese batteries (1500mah) i got for $10 from Ebay and they also DIED, (draining 1% every 2-3 minutes.)
What is the cause of this??? I Doubt 3 batteries in a row are faulty?...
Does anyone know how to fix this? what would cause my batteries to be drained 1% every 2-3 minutes? the phone lasts less than 1 hour.
I have tried 3 batteries......any help is appreciated.
your phones has water damage most likely.
my previous phone got water damage from me using it in the shower.
(not literally in the shower bu i had it by the sink cuz i listened to music)
im assuming water vapor got in my phone and messed it up.
afterward i started experiencing what you are. tried different batteries but the phone killed em quickly.
tried the batteries on other phones and they worked fine.
I came to the conclusion that it was the phone that was damaged and not the battery. like with yours everything worked except it died fast.
try the batteries on other phones and if they don't die fast then it might be your phone that's water damaged. I think you can draw the same conclusion if batteries that work on other phones die on yours quickly. must be th same phone of course lol

thanks buddy! finally some good input. I gave it to a repair shop who apparently said they can fix Shortages on the main PCB board. expecting a call tomorrow. I take it you just had to buy a new phone??? what happened to your phone now?
So FutureTel Solutions said they can fix my phone in Ontario.....its water damaged and will cost about $250 or less to replace.
My question is: Is the price worth it? I for one dont like any of the new dual core phones coming out as i am a Hardware keypad guy alot and like the feature of having both of best world. Is it best to fix it? they'll just replace the board and send it back....

x10i not working

can someone please help me? i just got my xperia x10 which is sent by my uncle from uk and I dont know what's wrong but it's not working, besides no one will pay for a lot of cost to send a junk via dhl. can someone please help me?
i tried charging the phone battery but there's no light indicator to tell me that its charging, i even charged the battery alone thru clipped charger but the whenever i try to open the phone it will only vibrate a little and will never open
just leave it charging for an hour or so.
will try to do so...thanks
If the battery has completely run out of charge then you will never be able to charge it again.
A new battery is only a few dollars off Ebay.

no it's not completely drained cause i tried to touch it with my lips wet and i felt a little ground from the ions.

jezzz ... you try to kill battery finaly...
Put it on clip charger for over night
i have charged it with a clip charger and yes the phone hasn't turned on yet. Now I'm not interested anymore to have it back to life but I will never ever buy any SE phones again. And warn my friends who thinks of buying an SE phone to buy Blackberry or Iphone instead. I am really disappointed with this product.
This is what happend to mine, one day it was fine then it just would charge or turn on, I managed to get SE to send me shiny new one as it was still under warranty, if it is a UK one and under 2 years old take it to the Carphonewarehouse and ask them if it can be repaired under the manufactures warranty
Just go and buy a new battery.

Phone getting super hot!... and attempt to burn it down.

My phone has serious temperature problems... If I surf in the internet and Facebook then my S4 is almost always at 40°C . When playing games then it can reach over 60°C (where the CPU is under the screen, measured with optical IR thermometer) It randomly starts heating up in my pocket till it is so hot that I cant hold it in there anymore.
Battery life is around 8 hours with LIGHT use!
I bought my S4 on first may and that problem appeared after summer holiday.
In November I sent it to warranty, It took them like 20 days and they did basically nothing to it. I haven't had any time to send it back there because I need my phone.
Yesterday I put it in a warm glove mining Dogecoins using AndroMine (android CPU/GPUminer) with charger connected
After 15 minutes it was at 67°C and battery was down to 30% form 97%. About 5 minutes later I heard a vibration, it had turned off and it didn't boot anymore. I was very happy, because I thought I manged to burn it down. Unfortunately it booted after cooling down . Now the battery life is even worse...
I'm thinking of putting it mining in oven... oven at 50°C I know that S4 has temperature protections but sill it might work. And the battery inside definitely doesn't like heat, so it might pop .
If I mange to burn it then I will get warranty replacement!
All crazy ideas to burn it down are welcome !!!
Sounds like a defective battery. See this thread

[Q] My gs5 Wont turn on

well so the other day sat my phone to charge but in the middle of the night i woke because i touched it and it was crazyhot.

Hello,
I think your battery has been roasted. you need to buy a new battery from ebay or amazon or your local store. Also, did you put your phone on the bed or under the pillow? because if it is.. it will get hotter if you did lol. so make sure put your phone away about 2 feets while charging from your bed. or put on hard surface while charging. Good luck!

Won't turn on, no lights, but warms up when plugged in.

As the title says, Phone won't turn on. There are no led lights at all. It does get warm after being plugged in for a little. I had jrkruse's hybrid_bra1 stock safetynet samsungpay...... rom on it. It was rooted. Very minimal processes running. I actually had basically everything stopped and greenify on. Phone was around 40% battery. I plugged it into charger, took my dog outside, showered real fast, washed a few dishes, then came back in to room within 15 minutes to my phone being dead and hot. It's never got this hot before even while rooted and plugged in with this rom on it. I have never had it get that hot. Was just formatted the day before and really bare but, that is what happened.
A couple battery apps I had put the batteries remaining life capacity at around 60%. It held a charge poorly. Even for 60% capacity it felt weak, considering how little I did on it lately. I am thinking the battery may have took a crap but unsure because it warms up when it is plugged in. I plan on getting a battery soon since they are inexpensive and replace it to try it out.
Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with this and can offer any advice.
Thank you in advance.
(I looked for a min or two for similar posts but didn't find much. Will gladly take down if someone can point me the way)
You say your battery was already outworn, It may have died. I think you should try with a new battery, Or take it to a technician who can test the phone's hardware to see if there is anything else broken
i've only had one similar case with an s3, which would turn of at random % of battery. But when plugged turned on. I replaced the battery and it worked fine then

I really do hope that is what's wrong. I just ordered a battery. Thanks for the reply. I also got some little tools and battery door adhesive sticker. Wish me luck!
funny story....
The mic in my Nubia Red Magic broke and I sent that back to hong kong for repairs like 20 days ago. Before the Red Magic, I used this galaxy s7 edge my friend gave me. I gave it back when I got the Red Magic and told him to sell it or something. Not much later, decided to buy it back off of him for $200 to give to my mother. She loved it. I had the gs7 edge with me exploring prepaid provider options for my mom when the Red Magic mic broke. So then I decided to borrow the edge from her till my phone got back and few days later I break this one too..
I feel naked without a phone for so long haha

I have the same rom, with charging issues. I don't think its the rom causing it. The s7e are getting old and the batteries are taking a toll with the age. My phone will charge up to 81 at night and stay there. I get better results with wireless charging so i just top my phone off during the day with my wireless charger. There is a code to reset the battery's internal memory, if i find the link on how to do it I will post here for you.

Thanks for reply and alright let me know if you find out. My phone had no problem charging to 100% Its just the 100% on the status bar wasnt 100% of the 3600 capacity from wear. My friend's also does the same thing as yours except his he cant charge more than like 24% haha. He just uses it as a plugged in music player in car.... I am getting battery in the mail tomorrow and will see what I can do.

I have not done it because it requires draining the battery and I never get around to doing that. Hopefully it will help you out. Good luck!

A little late, sorry. lol.
Thanks for suggestion, however, I may have worded my statement incorrectly. I meant to say that My phone would charge to 100% and the status bar displayed it as 100% but, the health and total capacity of the battery in mah was not the maximum 3600 or so due to simple wear and tare. It isn't apparent within any stock android feature however, battery monitoring apps like accubattery gather statistics after several charging sessions and estimate the current mah capacity. Mine was much lower than the default oem stated value of 3600. So my battery could be charged 100% but the 100% is really only 2400 mah lol. It was obvious either way by noticing that after my time using it and the previous owner's bad charging over night habits, that the battery was gradually needing charged more often lol..
I did read about the calibration method before when I was first looking into the battery issues. It seems it is more often done after a new battery is installed.
I screwed up a new battery install at the last second. I had to stop due the tiniest little round metal piece coming off from a very light swipe of my plastic spudger.
It was a very small wire connector piece. Unbelievably irritating. I didn't even finish because I doubt it would work properly. I beleive it is for the rf cable or something not sure. The red one on the left bottom side of the logicboard/motherboard whatever. There are three of them.
I took it apart and put it together a couple times prior to this and in a hurry it popped off and I couldnt find it. I couldnt find out the exact part name online so I could buy one and solder it back on. I did find a site/ supplier that has a plethora of them though. They are tiny coaxial connectors/pins. I didn't look through them all but there are 6,000 some listed under coaxial connectors (RF). https://www.digikey.com/products/en/connectors-interconnects/coaxial-connectors-rf/437?k=coaxial pin
I haven't gotten around to asking samsung or the digikeys support if they could help me find out which it is. They have different sizes and frequency ratings or speeds and such. The phone is packed away until I manage to figure out which pin to buy or if I pull 80$ or so out of my behind and buy a whole new motherboard logic board haha.
