Can't get into bootloader?

Hey guys, I've been trying to unlock my bootloader so that I can try and root my Maven 3 via Magisk. The problem is, I can't get into the bootloader. If I try to reboot to the bootloader from recovery mode, it just restarts like normal. Same thing when I try using adb commands in the cmd prompt. I am on Windows 7.
I think it could be unlocked trought EDL mode. But we need some expert help
I unlocked my phone with at&t but I think it only unlocked the SIM.
I enabled usb debugging and oem unlock, but when I issue the command (in ubuntu term)
adb reboot bootloader
Click to collapse
is just boots into the android system.
Any clue on what to do?
I have the same question - bootloader mode will not load when I issue "adb reboot bootloader", nor will it go into bootloader when I go into recovery mode (via POWER + VOLUME UP) and then I choose the "Bootloader" option. The phone just boots into the system. When I use "adb reboot recovery" it does go into recovery mode, and I am able to get a shell and copy files via adb just fine. I am using the latest platform-tools.
This is a ZTE Z835 (Maven 3), AT&T, carrier unlocked phone.
I don't think there is a bootloader... I have not found any fastboot-compatible mode on this device nor have I heard anyone else find one. You have FTM mode (Power + Volume Down) and EDL mode (adb reboot edl). EDL mode lets it work with QFIL, and with QFIL, you can literally dump and modify any partition on the device you want... I'm not sure what else you want. There's a new method for unlocking the bootloader https://www.xda-developers.com/unlock-bootloader-zte-phones/. I found that my devinfo partition was already unlocked, but you may need to check. I'm going to try and figure out how to create a recovery.bin partition able to be flashed in QFIL.

what to do if bootloader is unable to unlock and mobile is dead?

3 months back i hv flashed fastboot rom successfully. but now i stuck with different problems with no solution
1) mobile is dead, when i hold power button mobile screen blink for a second and off again
2)when mob is dead i cant go in developer option and do all that stuff
3)in fastboot mode when i type command "fastboot oem unlock" it shows error
4)when bootloader is locked i cant flash fastboot rom through mi flashtool
this all happen because of choosing wrong patched_boot file at the time of installing magisk manager.
cmd cammand only recognize my device but cant unlock. i find only one solution that is test point method. before i proceed to that need suggestion from u gye's should i go for testpoint or to service center coz mobile is still under warranty.
You can flash stock ROM in edl mode with locked bootloader.
Put phone in fastboot mode and type "fastboot oem edl".
You should be able to flash stock ROM with Miflash. If your device is not recognised update your drivers. Google for qualcomm qloader drivers.
Next time before flashing a modified boot.img try to only boot it and see if it works.

Back to stock, relock bootloader problem waiting for device

Hi,
i used Miflash in edl mode to get back to stock rom. after flash and reboot I used the recovery mode to do a factory reset.
It seems to work. It shows Android Recovery, but the bootloader is still unlocked.
What mode do I need to enter to use the "fastboot oem lock" command? I always see "waiting for device" and nothing happens
When I type "adb devices" I can see the phone. I saw there is a command "fastboot devices", too. but it shows me no result.

Then, try to use fastboot cmd
Thanks, before I can try that I have to solve another problem.
That doesn't work. The phone isn't entering a special mode. I can choose fastboot from the bootmenu, too. But nothing happens. The phone does a restart, shows the bootmenu again and boots android after 5 seconds.
@Stevie123
You need to enable fastboot (bootloader) mode since it is disabled by ZTE, so that the selection from menu to be effective (after enabling it, in fastboot mode, your command "fastboot devices" (to check) and "fastboot oem lock" (to lock bootloader) will be accepted).
You can use Axon 7 EDL tool to unlock the bootloader.
It's already unlocked. I have to make another unlock procedure again to get access to fastboot? The EDL Tool tells me that I have to wipe and reset the phone after it. So it seems I can't keep my data and just lock the bootloader.
Either Lock or Unlock will wipe your data. And yes, the unlock procedure by Axon 7 EDL tool includes the enabling of fastboot. So you have to re-unlock if you want to relock.
I think this EDL tool doesn't work very good. It flashed something to make fastboot available, but I had a green ZTE Logo screen and this screen also had errors like white spots. The original ZTE logo is in cyan. But the fastboot worked and I could lock the phone. But I couldn't do anything else anymore. I couldn't reach Android and reflashing also didn't work. So I tried to use the EDL Tool to unlock my bootloader again. It said success, but it didn't work. It was still locked.
Well, I had to wait until the phone was empty. Luckily I could reach EDL Mode again. I used the MiFlash again to Downgrade to Android Nougat B12. I read somewhere that the fastboot is included there. So I had the right ZTE Logo back and it worked. I could leave the Bootloader locked. The final update I did with a SD Card to the lastest Android Software for Axon 7. Luckily without a brick. It's a pity that they don't offer any Updates anymore.

Failed Root A2017G

Can someone help me. I tried the boot loader unlock with "Axon7 EDL Tool"
1) I flashed the recovery (TWRP).
2. then I started the boot loader unlock.
Now start it in the following menu. I can't get out of there.
hope someone can help me.
Have an Axon 7, German Edition (A2017G) Android 8.0.0
It show me:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
START
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
FASTBOOT MODE (in red font)
PRODUCT _NAME - AILSA_II
VARIANT - MTP eMMC
BOOTLOADER VERSION -
SERIAL NUMBER - fc0b748d
SECURE BOOT - enabled
DEVICE STATE - locked (in red font)
I can choose with the volume buttons
"START" --> it reboot in the self menu
"Restart bootloader" --> it reboot in the self menu
"Recovery mode" --> it boot into black screen. (Only way out is disconnect the battery and restart. But this is the only where axon EDL tool detect the phone.)
"Power off" --> it Shutdown
My goal is to use a custom rom.
for those who manage to solve the problem with me, I transfer 10Euro via Paypal. I hope someone can help me

No fastboot option on Oneplus 8 Pro - can't unlock bootloader

I have a brand new Oneplus 8 Pro from China with global ROM installed.
I wanted to unlock the bootloader however there is no fastboot option in the boot menu.
There is Start, Restart Bootloader, Recovery and Turn Off.
The Fastboot option is missing.
I can connect the phone to my PC, adb recognizes the phone, but Fastboot is missing.
Any ideas?

Sure. You are allready in that mode. Just type fastboot devices and check..
I did that but no response.
The cursor jumps to the next line but there is no response from the phone.
If I type adb devices the phone is listed but the fastboot command doesn't return anything.

Restart to bootloader, then fastboot should work. If your phone is still on, and you can access adb, you should also be able to type adb reboot bootloader
Thanks.
So apparently the command "fastboot devices" returns nothing.
However I was able to unlock the bootloader just by entering "adb reboot bootloader" then
"fastboot oem unlock".
What confused me was that there is no "fastboot" option on the phone itself as there was on my Oneplus 5t.

The option in the power menu is called bootloader (fastboot only will work there) the hint was in the adb command I gave you, adb reboot BOOTLOADER. Not sure why they changed what the menu was called but I'm glad you got it sorted. To give you a short summary, adb will only work when your phone is powered on and booted into android, or if you have recovery mode open and on the adb section, and fastboot only works in the bootloader hope that could help!
Edit: fastboot devices should work but only in bootloader mode, not when your phone is started normally

You have to insert a SIM card, boot of the device and make a phone call to get it to register your device. Wait a few minutes and then restart your phone. Go into settings under about phone and enable developer options. Back out and go into developer options and you will see OEM unlock. You need to turn that on and USB debugging. Both of them must be turned on. Now you can boot into fastboot and unlock your bootloader. It will wipe the device so if you have any data you want to save you better do it now.
hey i am having this issue, i am able to adb reboot bootloader but when i try to oem unlock or anything else, it is just waiting for device and not finding it....

That's a driver issue.
Are you using Windows 7? If so use 10
If not then sort out your driver's and it'll be fine.
Theres a bug in 7 where the driver for ADB cannot be collaborated with fastboot drivers.

Having similar problem here:
win10x64, drivers installed, USB debugging is enabled.
ADB sees the devices, reboots it correctly with "adb reboot bootloader"
then bootloader menu's shown:
START // RESTART BOOTLOADER // RECOVERY MODE // SHOW BARCODE // POWER OFF
Fastboot mode
Product_name - kona
Variant - SM8 UFS
BOOTLOADER VERSION - (nothing appears here)
BASEBAND VERSION - (nothing appears here)
Serial number - (appears 8-symbol sn)
SECURE BOOT - YES
DEVICE STATE - LOCKED
trying to communicate with smartphone via terminal "fastboot" command doesn't do much:"fastboot devices" doesn't return anything at all, "fastboot oem unlock" just shows <waiting for device>
tried to reinstall drivers

If you type fastboot reboot what happens? If nothing then either you're device doesn't have usb debugging on, could be the cable/usb slot (some people have had issues with this)
Or its the driver installed for fastboot.
Show hidden devices in device manager you may have multiple devices, remove them all and start over.
Your also need to have used ADB and have trusted the device (prompt will appear on your phone the first time you connect it successfully whilst in your phones system, not fastboot)
for windows 10:
firstly download the google adb driver:
Get the Google USB Driver | Android Studio | Android Developers
The Google USB Driver is required to perform adb debugging on Windows with Google devices.
developer.android.com
then do the following:
1. adb devices [you should see your device ] > adb reboot bootloader
2. device manager > update driver > chose from list [android device]
3. still in device manager got the newly populated Android device and then update driver > choose adb interface
3. fastboot oem unlock
etc.
hope this helps

Secure Boot means your Bootloader is locked.
Setup fastboot correctly, open a cmd window, navigate to fastboot.exe and enter fastboot oem unlock, follow instructions on phone screen
