In manual mode, when i modify the focus to the flower, which i understand as it will blur the background and let the object focused.. but it doesn't work, just for half a second then blurs everything.. any help?
I can confirm Focus -manual and Auto is messed up when it comes to macro
It focuses perfectly for half a second before messing up completely again

I can't take any shots for my camera auto focus works so badly !!! It keeps auto focusing continuously ??? Any suggestions to stop it ???:good:
My experience is that it only refocuses if you are moving the phone.
The only exception to this has been if you tap to focus on a spot other than center. In that case, you have a limited amount of time before it resets to the center.
Does anyone else have this issue with their Galaxy S5? On any object that's closer than two feet, it will have trouble focusing. I know it's able to focus because when I tap on the screen I can see the object in perfect clarity for a split second, and then it gets unfocused and fuzzy.
Should I exchange my phone?

I know from doing regular photography, if you're on auto-exposure mode, and you don't have enough light to get a good photo, the camera will struggle. Add flash if you're not already, or have some extra ambient light on your subject.
On low light condition focus of s5 camera is just rubbish. You see something esle while clicking, but photo that comes out after holding it for 5 secs is blurred.
I have a problem with the cameras constant focus. If i want to take a picture of any object, the camera first refocusses, making it impossible to take pictures of sports events etc. I have to predict actions 2 seconds in the future, because when i hit the shutter button, the camera first unfocus and focus again and then takes the picture. Also, when the camera is idle, it refocus every few seconds.
Touching and holding the screen brings up the blue dotted circle which locks focus, but the blue circle disappears again after a few seconds....
I have tried a 3rd party camera app, same problem.
How can i lock focus and keep it locked?
Reply to self: downloaded Sports mode; big improvemnt

To my surprise, the camera app lets you download extra modes. One of them is Sports mode, which takes pictures instantly when touching the shutter button. This should be default behaviour in my opinion.
I was playing around with FV-5 (camera app) and pushing the camera to 3200 ISO to see what kind of quality would result, and noticed that I was getting banding on the screen. I switched back to the Samsung camera app, in manual mode, and noticed (for the first time) banding there as well. I took a couple of pictures of my nondescript carpet to see if it was a screen thing or a photo thing: http://imgur.com/a/69mml
Now I'm seeing it all the time. I've used manual mode before, but never run into this. I'm having a hard time believing that FV-5 broke my camera, but I can't remember having this issue - even in manual mode - with my camera before this. Can anyone else run their camera in manual mode, set ISO to 800, and the shutter so that the EV is in the -1 to -2 range and report back? I'd hate to have to take the phone back and trade it in, but this is just unacceptable performance.
So, I've been having some issues with the focus on the rear facing camera for the V20
This is a pic with the Wide Angle Lens:

It's crisp and clear (ish)
This is a pic with the normal lens:

It's blurry as hell, unless I'm like two inches away:

I've tried in both Auto and Manual mode, and have tried the focus in both Auto and Manual.
Any ideas?
Many thanks.
P.S. sorry for the imgur links, I haven't posted enough to be allowed links in side my post.
Nope. Just issues with longer focus in darker scenes but that is every phone. Lens clean?
Did you find any solution, I've the same issue.
#4
i have same issues
any solutions?
Tap to focus
I find just pointing it and clicking doesn't set focus properly with some scenes
It's a bit odd as the G4 would have zero issues with this and the V20 also has IR AF
Any Solution yet?
I am also having the same issue, the focus doesn't work, neither manually nor in auto mode. Sometimes, just sometimes, it luckily does work, but most of the time it doesn't.. i dont understand what the problem is..
Recently, the camera was acting way weird, like showing dark picture with green lines, and sometimes it wouldnt even open, it showed just a black screen, i cleared data of gallery and camera, which resolved the issue, but still void of ability to focus.
