Currently on BRC1. This morning I was prompted to update to BRD1 but I'm getting an error whenever it boots to update.
Need more info, like what the error message is that you're getting. Can't help without more information.

I'm assuming since you posted here, it's Verizon? I don't recognized the BRD1 update. S7s from Verizon on currently on BRC3 from April, 2018.
In any case, have you tried rebooting into recovery mode? Also, do you have an SD card installed? If so, power off and remove the SD card and then put the tray back in with just your SIM card and see if that fixes it. If not, try to reboot into recovery mode and try to wipe cache and see if that helps. If that doesn't help, you might have to factory reset from within recovery mode.
To get into recovery mode, do the following:
Switch off your Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge completely.
Boot into Galaxy S7 recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Up and Home keys.
While pressing these, hold the Power key too.
Release all three buttons when Samsung Galaxy S7 screen flickers and you see the logo.
Once in Recovery mode, you will have to use Volume Up and Down keys for navigation and Power key for confirming an option.

Might be your only option now.
Is your phone:
Rooted
Running a custom ROM
Were you per chance running the unofficial Oreo patch that wasn't for VZW devices (but apparently for ATT if I'm correct)? That could be part of your problem and you might have to ODIN now.
My phone has never been rooted and I have never flashed custom ROMs nor used ODIN to repair my phone, so I can't help you there, but maybe someone else can?
BRD1 appears to be the latest 930U firmware released on 4/25 according to Sammobile.

Yes I did flash and used ATT Oreo but went back to stock on Verizon. So I flashed the latest update with Odin. Does this mean for every update I will have to use Odin?

I seem to be another victim of this issue. I was attempting to update my recovery (TWRP 2.6 installed) on my Verizon S4 via TWRP's app. It failed, so I figured I might try it from recovery. I attempted to boot into recovery, but it is stuck at the Samsung "custom" screen and the blue "RECOVERY BOOTING......" text is in the top left corner. I can leave the device alone for several minutes and it never goes into recovery. It does get very hot though, and occasionally it will reboot on its own. If I hook it up to my PC and then put in the battery, it will vibrate as if it is going to boot, then it vibrates again in 3 seconds and does this endlessly with nothing coming up on the screen. Without being able to get into recovery or have my desktop recognize the device, I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas before I chuck this brick?
Are you able to get into download mode (volume down, home button, power)? If you're able to, the device is not bricked and, using Odin, you can update TWRP to 2.8.4.
I've found that the app isn't working all that well. For the last few updates I've had to use Odin to update TWRP.

Ah ha, you are correct. I actually tried a variation of this (I think with volume up?) but it just attempted to go into recovery again. At the download screen I just told the phone to boot into the OS and all seems well. I'll look into updating TWRP via Odin and see if I have any joy, but at least I have a working phone again. Thanks for the help.:good:
When you update, do NOT try to use TWRP 2.8.5.0. It's bugged on the S4. Use 2.8.4.0 instead.
Thanks, good advice!
Looks like my recovery is toast. Doing some research, I never used Odin as my phone had the old MDK baseband. Sites tell me not to use Odin, so I followed the instructions on TWRP's site using Terminal Emulator and 2.8.4.0: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/181 Everything seemed to go well, so I attempted to reboot into recovery, but now I get some warning/error about unauthorized software, turn off your phone and take it to Verizon, etc.
Sounds like I need to try again, but I'm not sure what my options are now.
I didn't even see you had a Verizon S4 until you mentioned it. Verizon encrypts the bootloader as a matter of course, and thus installing TWRP is not possible. You should however be able to restore the official firmware with Odin, and from there, follow the root guides at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon to get yourself back up and running.
mine get to the point where i select volume up, i see the android bot and message do not turn off target, and it shuts down. what do i do?
Hey guys,
So recently I got a SM-G928X Live Demo Unit. I just read that flashing G928F firmware is completely fine and so I did aaaaand well, I am stuck in recover. Forgot to flash a custom recovery, also the phone has Factory Reset Protection so I am here with:
Android Recovery
MMB29K.G928FXXU2BPB6
samsung/zenbltexx/zenlte
6.0.1/MMB29K/G928FXXU2BPB6
user/release-keys
volume up/down and power

then goes normal recovery options
and at the bottom of the screen, there's
Supported API: 3
dm-verity verification failed...
Need to check DRK first...
Anyway I can't get to download mode, cant wipe data, cant flash from ADB/SD Card. When connected to PC no software recognises the device so yeah, that's a great situation to be in, right?
So if any of you have any idea how to make this thingy work again, I'm up for anything.
Thanks

Thing is there is this FRP thing and since I flashed a stock ROM it somehow blocks it from reseting the phone and even if I try to boot to download mode thru the button comb or thru the recovery, it just resets the phone and then boots to recovery immediately. Also this thing is preventing me from flashing anything from the SD card or ADB.

The guys were avoiding this issue by flashing the firmware. Since you can't boot into DL mode, that's odd. Maybe smart switch(or whatever it's name) helps. As far as i remember this lock is related with ''OEM Unlock'' in Settings » Developer options. Also there were some tricks around which you should research it at xda or youtube. Good luck.

Hello guys,
A friend of mine gave me his S6EDGE+ because it didnt boot anymore after he woke up. The night before that he installed an update but the phone worked fine after that.
The phone showed this message: http://imgur.com/a/cwLyM
I thought that it was easily fixed by flashing original 7.0 firmware but as you can guess i was wrong... It keeps rebooting right after the "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+" screen
So i tried to flash original 6.0.1 firmware but the same result
After that i flashed 7.0 again and after that twrp 7.0 but it never booted into twrp
So i flashed android 6.0.1 and the newest twrp for 6.0.1 but it still didnt booted into recovery and i am not able to boot in recovery.
After that i tried some older versions of twrp for 6.0.1 and it sometimes gave me the error: Recovery is not seandroid enforcing. I tried the same with 7.0 and older twrp versions, same results.
I also tried to flash 5.1.1 but i couldnt flash it.
What i also tried is to flash 7.0 bootloaders and after that 7.0 firwmare and the same for 6.0.1
I'm really desperate and dont know what to do anymore..
Current status: bootloop
I can enter download mode: http://imgur.com/a/XiS6Z
When you say you flashed original firmware, did you use odin to do it? Did you use the firmware from sammobile?
Apologies if it's shows in the pictures, but they aren't showing up on my phone.
1. how about if you try to reflash twrp, full wipe and install a rom?
2. Try fix it with Smart Switch with emergency frimware recovery / emergency device recovery. ?

You've never stated the results of your stock firmware flashing, using Odin. This is key, this tells you whether the firmware was flashed correctly or not.. If you picked the wrong stock firmware to flash, Odin will show it "Failed."
If your buddy just updated firmware, then it's likely he's on the newest one, but check in SamMobile to verify if it's accurate. If shows the most current firmware was updated in January or something then he might not be on the most current one, as this shows that he's behind on updating his phone, so it's uncertain which it last updated to.
If I were you, I'd verify first whether the Odin flash passed or not, prior to attempting any custom flashing.. After Odins finished flashing in the upper right corner will either show "Pass" or "Fail," it needs to show "Pass" before you can proceed to do anything else, as this confirm whether the stock firmware flashed correctly or not.
If it doesn't Pass, you have flashed the wrong firmware. Might be good to verify with your buddy, which carrier he had originally. If you indeed have a Samsung S6 Edge+, with the larger 5.7 inch screen, the model numbers begin as so, "SM-G928x" with difference being the "x" at the end, which coincides with whichever carrier it's on, (e.g. "A" for AT&T, "T" for T-Mobile" - U.S. carriers).
It wouldn't be a bad idea to confirm whether you're using the most up to date version of Odin, either. Don't remember what that is but a quick Google search under this topic would do it.
Just for shyts and giggles, you did verify that your PC recognizes the phone, right? And that it lists under "Device Manager" correctly, as well as Odin recognizing it after you plugged it in?
If it does "Pass," it should reboot by itself into the stock firmware since prior to flashing you selected "autoreboot" and "reset time" if it doesn't reboot correctly or gets stuck on the splash screen, unplug it from the PC and manually boot it into stock recovery. Do this by first pressing the following buttons at the same time and holding them till the phone powers off, power button, home button, volume up and volume down.. After it powers off, push and hold, power button, home button and volume up, till the phone boot to stock recovery, amd of course you can let go of the buttons/keys. Then using volume buttons to select factory reset and pressing the power button to confirm the selection. After it factory resets you can then select reboot to system and it should boot normally and you've recovered the phone.
The upper left corner in Odin will show the results of the flash, there shouldn't be a reason for it not booting if it indeed shows "Pass," cuz this confirms firmware flashed correctly, if it shows "Fail" then you flashed the incorrect firmware. You'll need to locate the right one so that Odin shows "Pass," otherwise you wont ever recover your phone, regardless of anything else you find interesting to flash, bootloaders, TWRP, root, ect.. Don't flash anything else till you get the stock firmware flashed correctly. If you're unable to accomplish this then, I'd recommend calling Samsung or your carrier, is it still under warranty? My charging port broke after 2+ years, I have insurance though w/ T-Mobile, called them to see what my options were, was planning on fixing it myself to avoid the $175 insurance deductible, if I made a claim, but as it turns out, since I have insurance, the phones still under warranty and per the CSR, it will continue to hace warranty as long as I pay the $7/month insurance. Thought most warranties are 12 months but I wasn't going to correct her if she was wrong so I went ahead with it and 2 days later new phone came and I sent my broken one back! Old phone has lil scratches on the screen, couple lil dings along the sides, obviously an older phone but now I gotta new one, ita flawless!
It won't to try if this don't work out..
Good luck
I know there are many threads on this and I have tried everything...I think I'm FUBAR on this one. I have the SM-T520, I think. It was running a old 12.1 cyanogenmod and 2.X version of TWRP. I wanted to get to LineageOS. So I downloaded the image for my tablet. Made a good backup to SD and did a wipe and install of the LineageOS image. It boots up but the curve line with the circle just never went away. I could boot to recovery and restore my backup and all was good.
So next I got the latest TWRP version , 3.1.X. Booted into recovery and flashed with that image.
Now I'm at the downloading....death screen. I tried draining the battery. The numerous power combinations...no luck. Everything just goes to that screen. If there is no way back I get it, thats on me. Just looking to see if anyone has another idea. Hook it up to my computer?
Thanks.

You don't have to drain the battery. Hold the Home + vol- + Power buttons for about ten seconds and the tablet will reboot. However, if you don't do anything else it will just boot back to the same download screen. What you need to try is holding those keys, and as soon as the screen blanks, switch from the vol- button to vol+ button. That should boot you into recovery.
If that doesn't work, your only option would be to use Odin to start over again

You have to be quick to shift from Vol- to Vol+ as soon as the screen blanks or else you are right back to download mode. What I mean by "start over" is just that. Use Odin to flash a STOCK ROM, then TWRP and only then can you use TWRP to flash a custom ROM or restore one you previously backed up with TWRP.
edit: Change that "quick" to "very quick".

Dont pay anything to Samsung to fix this. Its easily solved by either flashing the stock firmware or just flash twrp and boot to recovery.
I was finally able to get a good working stock Samsung rom to start with. I'm back in business. Thank you all for the help!
Hi. Browsed for ages and always come here for answers.
Here's my problem.
2x S8s. SM-950f.
Updated to most recent software through software update. Both phones were glitchy and crashing and just generally irritating after.
Factory data reset etc. This did not resolve the problems, also led to one of them having issues with FRP (annoying)
Used Odin to try and flash the latest firmware (from sammobile, UK BTU) after flashing both, they reset and powered on. Got stuck at the S8 screen.
Restarted then both were at the "an error occurred during update" screen.
Managed to get back to download screen. Re checked the software and model numbers, even that the bootloader was the correct version etc. All was fine.
Connected to Odin, shows that it is connected, but nothing happens when clicking start.
Now after attempting that, both phones will not power on.
(One will when placed on the wireless charger, but just sticks at S8 screen) and download mode or reset screen can not be accessed. So, not exactly happy. And totally out of ideas
Any suggestions, beyond taking it to a shop to see if anyone can help.
yes .....dont tuch the phones for 24 hours let the battery die ...it will...connect to pc and then try download mode....u may need to press combination for like 1 minute to get to download mode....flash twrp reboot directly into it when odin says successfully .....wipe system data ....dont turn on phone download any custom rom flash and enjoy.....it will trip knox but worth than getting a new board....
Okay, will give that a try.
TWRP?
TWRP install

Just said, wait until your device powers off due battery insufficience. Plug cable and hold at the same moment vol(down)+bixby+power. Then press vol(up) at the warning screen to proceed to odin mode. Let it charging a while like 1 h. Then unplug it and plug it to your pc. In Odin select ap the previous downloaded file. Take your mobile in your hand. With one hand, prepare your fingers to vol(up)+bixby and with the other hand start the flashibg process. Be careful, and take your hand directly from the mouse if you clicked start in odin, and position your one finger to power button, but dont click. If odin start pass, press immidiately the buttons (vol(up)+bixby+power) and let it to start into recovery. If you arrived to recovery, reply to us if not search for help!!!
Good luck

Not sure what stage your at and maybe some more useless ideas
1. Trying to flash twrp is kinda of useless if you can't get into your system need oem unlock for that.
2. Have you tried taking out Sim card and SD card and reboot.
3. If you can at least boot try smart switch as it has a emergency recovery option.
4. Trying rebooting in safe mode.
All been attempted
