I have tried two Oreo ROMs so far. Crdroid unofficial and aex. While using I've noticed that audio quality is very inconsistent. So much treble and headphones crackling. Never happened this with stock miui rom. Using mi basics earphones. Even tried viper4andoid and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Also left earphones had more volume than right say left is 65 audio focus while right is only 35. Guys please help I don't want to go back to miui ROM. My earphone is working perfectly fine with stock ROM so I think there is no issue with it and it is just 2/months old.

So the problem is that no matter what custom ROM I use the mic volume is incredibly low. Talking on the phone I cannot be heard at all, if I put it on loudspeaker I can be heard faintly. Same problem for any app that uses the microphone, like sound recorder, recording a video, it barely picks up any sound.
But what's strange is that everything works perfectly on on Stock. I've installed custom ROMs on this before and last used cm10 before I upgraded way back. But now the problem also exists on that CM10 ROM. Any ideas how to fix it?
Additionally I've tried disabling the google now search listening (which fixed the same problem on my OPO) but does not work here. I've tried the following ROMs: CM10, CM11, CM12 all official nightlies and Crdroid 5.1.1.
Very frustrating as otherwise CM12 works perfectly and I intend to give this phone to someone!
So testing it further I found out that it works fine using google now and search. So either the internal microphone is disabled or maybe noise cancelling is messed up.
I can't believe how developers are deaf to this issue.
There is hissing static sound on headphones when listening music and tapping on menus.
G2's quadbeats v2 is ok no hisisng. But why do i have to suffer if i have some other headphones?
Ive tried every rom! yes every one. (KK stock, LP stock popular KK,LP roms and kernels, even new Marshmallows suffer from this badly)
I am living my life with stock JB with v4a thank god my ears in heaven right now but i do suffer from battery life and old features of jb.
please anyone? am i alone?

no hissing here on custom stock. but when i tried cant remember if it was cm12 or 13 i had hissing on speaker.
You're not alone, there is hissing which is very annoying on stock and cm roms. There is a workaround by installing dorimanx kernel LP version which fixed the hissing for me. Unfortunately i didn't find any other kernel that works for cm/aosp roms that fixes the issue.

I have tried dorimanx yea it decreases the hissing but its definetly there, you just need a good quality headphones to hear that tiny sound :/
See the last post here:

Worked for me in LP roms.
The method described above works perfectly.
I enclose a finished file mixer_paths.xml with some adjustments of sound.
Just replace the file in the system/etc directory and give permissions 644.
It is for stock and stock based LP (Google Edition, Cloudy 3.3...)
with Dorimanx 8.9 and latest Viper sound is great!
I listen to the music on Senheiser HD598 and belive me the hiising disappeared.

Above mixer_paths.xml file on reddit solves the hissing problem on cloudy but it creates another one problem which is breezing sound while playing songs. Gonna try dorimanx, it may solve this.
On the other hand your mixer_paths.xml doesnt solve the hissing for some reason.
Dear folks,
Currently I have installed custom ROMs on my X Pure to experience Android 7.0 Nougat beforehand.
However, I cannot bear the terrible audio quality my phone offers now. Loudspeakers reduced it original volume down to about 60% compared to stock. And when plugged in a headphone, there was almost no bass to all songs :crying:
It there any way I can regain those things back please? Any help?

It's a current problem with all Nougat ROMs.
There's a fix somewhere in the dev forums. I'll edit in the link once I find it.

Switch back to stock??? You can also try v4a.
I've created a fix
Not sure what kind of volume problems people are having with Nougat ROMS. I'm on CrDroid and I don't have this volume problem. I do have Dolby Atmos installed if that makes any difference. My problem is when using speaker during phone calls, the other person cannot understand me cause it echos.
I cant seem to have the CDLA headphones work with the Lineage OS ROM - the sound always comes throuhg phone speaker. did not install any Magisk or xposed frameworks either.
the Bluetooth speaker work. Does anyone have a similar issue and how can it be addressed?
Model: Le Eco Le Pro 3 LEX727
ROM: Lineage OS 14.1
I experience this too and there are reports from others in the main LOS 14 thread. As reported in the below message, headphones work for me when they are plugged in at reboot.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/help/cdla-problem-leeco-le-pro-3-t3576011
I have the same issue, the problem is the device doesn't recognize when you plug-out the headphones so sound is still being routed to them. The only way i found to "fix" it was reboot without headphones or using the app musicabout and uncheck the headphones detection.
Changing SELinux to permissive fixed it for me.

I'm stuck in 21/07/2017 because i can't update due a battery problem. In this update the only problem i'm having is with the headphone microphone very low, i can't answer calls with them.
I have the latest update installed but it doesn't recognize headphones. How to make a bug report?
haedphone
I have the same. In order for the headset to connect you need to reset the phone to do. And to unplug the reset. My system is LineageOS 14.1
Yes, but how do we report this to developers because it was apparently working last month from what I see at XDA posts.
with this application you can hear the sound in the headphones

I have the Sony MDR-XB950N1 and they sound awesome on an iphone and ipad. But they sound like crap on my android device. I've tried both NucleaROM 7.2.1 and Bliss 6.4, and the sound is too low on both ROMs. Kernel Auditor's sound setting doesn't help at all. I would like to stay away from Viper4Android. I don't need to enhance the sound. I need to be able to adjust the gain or amplify the sound.
I don't get android at all as this has happened to some Bluetooth headphone I've used in the past. But for a USD$300.00 pair otf over-the-ear headphones, this should not happen! It sounds like a pair of headphones you buy at your local 7-eleven. Maybe I should go back to the official firmware?
Interestingly.. i installed CM13 6.01 (Dec 2016) and BT volume is 100x better than the ROMs I mentioned above. This is without the kernel auditor sound mod. I DON'T GET IT.. But at least my earlobes, eardrums, and headphone are vibrating at max volume again. I still would like a solution for Nougat ROM.

You can have a look at here https://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/themes-apps/apps-to-gain-microphone-volume-t3450390 it's not only for microphone problems
Yea enabling volume level works great with my daily driver, NulceaROM 7.1.x. Thanks for the heads up! Its on par with CM13 and iDevices. I'm not convinced that this issue only happens to our device. I used to have a MI phone and BT volume with nougat was abysmal also.
