It should. I had couple chats in telegram group for 7x dev with users doing this. But they ran into trouble because they did not have good emui-5 backup images. The first part of flashing the cn nougat roll-back worked fine.

Umm, No.
The guide is for going both ways (upgrade, and downgrade).
No need to relock bootloader either. Unless you want to.

Let me ask you something, please.
Did it work in one step, or did you have to do install a second time from Oreo in order to get it fully done?
I ask because my first time I used this I had to repeat the install process again from Oreo to get the data part of install to flash. I made changes (no longer shortening the file names to fit the script, instead change the script to fit the file names) and second time it worked for me.
If confirmed worked for you the new way, then I can remove the large warning (somewhat confusing) text from the first post.

Warning: No one is responsible for what happens to your device while attempting to follow the below guide. Create backups before every section and know the risks before starting out.
Part I - How To Install The Latest Full ROM For The Model (PLK-L01)
Step 1: Download the latest full ROM for Honor 7 from the below link:
http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/375942-roms-honor-7-stock-rom-images/
Step 2: Extract the (.zip) file and copy the "UPDATE.app" file to your (dload) folder in your external SD card.
Step 3: Make sure the current recovery that is installed is the default stock one and not a custom recovery like TWRP. If you have TWRP installed, make sure to flash the stock recovery before you attempt the update process.
Step 4: Turn off your phone, then press both the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Key. Then release the power key as soon as you see the initial splash screen.
Step 5: The Huawei eRecovery will start and will update your device from the "UPDATE.app" file that you had placed in your (dload) folder automatically.
Part II - How To Root Huawei Honor 7
Stage 1 – Unlock The Bootloader
Part 1.1 – Getting The Unlock Password
Step 1: Login by clicking here.
Step 2: Click on “Unlock Bootloader”.
Step 3: Accept the unlocking agreement.
Step 4: Fill up the unlock password form as follows:
Product: Smartphone.
Model: (e.g. PLK-L01)
Product Serial Number: Settings -> Status -> Serial Number - > (e.g. H8WDU15814000010)
Product IMEI/MEID (IMEI 1): Settings -> Status -> IMEI1 -> (e.g. 867898020305536)
Product ID: Open the dial up and type: *#*#1357946#*#* -> (e.g. 88429554)
Verification Code: Type the Captcha.
Step 5: Press submit and obtain the unlocking password in red (e.g. 1078018121593242).
Step 6: Store the code obtained in step 5 somewhere safe.
Part 1.2 – Preparations
Step 6: Download and install the latest version of the "15 Seconds ADB Installer”. You can find the download link at >
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118#post48915118
Step 7: Download and install the latest version of “HiSuite – Android Smart Device Manager”.
You can find the download link at >
http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/HiSuite_en/
Step 8: Enable the “Developer options” by going to:
Settings -> About Phone -> Build Number
Tap on the build number 10 times quickly. A message must appear alerting you that the developer mode has been enabled.
Go to the “Developer options” and enable “USB debugging”.
Part 1.3 – Booting into Fastboot Mode
Step 9: Power the phone off.
Step 10: Boot the phone into “fastboot mode” by pressing the below keys.
[Volume Down] + [Tap on Power Button]. You can release the power button as soon as you see the initial splash screen.
Note 1: You must enter the fastboot mode directly after pressing the above keys.
Note 2: In case (Step 10) did not work, then turn off your phone again then insert the USB cable and connect it with your computer. After that, press the same combination mentioned above for 10 seconds. Note 3: You can also boot into the fastboot mode using the following command >
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Step 11: Connect your phone with your PC. Use a USB cable to connect your phone with your computer while your phone is in the fastboot mode.
Step 12: Open your “Command Prompt (cmd)” and type >
Code:
fastboot devices
Note: The second command must show that your device is in fastboot mode.
Part 1.4 – Perform The Unlock Command
Step 13: Perform the unlock command > fastboot oem unlock ***, where *** is the 16 characters unlock code.
Code:
fastboot oem unlock 1078018121593242
Note: You need of course to replace "1078018121593242" with your unique 16 characters unlock code.
Step 14: Wait for the phone to get unlocked. It will automatically restart if you have entered the correct code.
Step 15: Test if the phone is successfully unlocked by entering the following command >
Code:
fastboot oem get-bootinfo
Case 1: If you have got the message of “Bootloader Lock State: UNLOCKED”, then your phone has been successfully unlocked.
Case 2: If you have got the message of “Bootloader Lock State: LOCKED”, then your phone is still locked.
Note: if you want to re-lock the phone, please check this thread for more details on that. Thanks to @sminki for posting that up and highlighting this point.
Stage 2 – Install Custom Recovery
Step 16: Open your command prompt, and navigate to the right directory where your recovery image file is located. You can do that using this command:
Navigate to the right directory:
[“Directory Letter”]:
Examples: D:, C:, or E:
Navigate to the right folder:
cd [“Full Path Of Directory”]
Example: cd /Users/User1
Step 17: Test if your device is detected by typing the following command while you are in the bootloader mode:
Code:
fastboot devices
> If you got the right messages that your device is properly connected, then you can proceed to step 18.
Step 18: Type the following command to flash the recovery image (TWRP). The recovery image is in English and you can download it from this link. Make sure to download it and place it in the right directory before typing the below command line.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
After the completion of that, simply reboot your device using the following command >
Code:
fastboot reboot
Note: “recovery.img” is the name of the TWRP recovery image. You need to replace this name with the name of your recovery image (e.g. twrp-3.0.2-0-plank.img).
Stage 3 – Root The Device
Step 19: Download the latest SuperSU version from this link and place it on your hard disk then copy it to your phone. You can copy the file from your computer to your device using this command >
Code:
adb push SuperSU-vX.zip /sdcard/
Note 1: You must be in the right directory of the “SuperSU” file or else the above command will not work.
Note 2: You must replace "SuperSU-vX" with the right name of your SuperSU file (e.g. BETA-SuperSU-v2.71-20160331103524.zip)
Step 20: When the process of flashing the recovery is done, reboot your device into the recovery mode using the following command >
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Step 21: After finishing step 20 successfully, your phone would have been booted into the recovery mode. You will be able to see the TWRP home screen. From there, click on the “Install” option then navigate to your /sdcard/ directory where you have copied or pushed your "SuperSU-vX.zip" file.
Step 22: Find the "SuperSU-vX.zip" file and install it.
Step 23: Navigate back to the home page of TWRP then click on the “Reboot” button in order to boot into the system.
Step 24: Double check if your device has been rooted successfully by testing it using one of those root checker applications. There are many of them around the Google Play store.
Part III - Useful ADB Commands
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot
adb reboot bootloader
adb reboot recovery
adb push [source] [destination]
adb pull [source] [destination]
adb backup
adb shell
Part IV - Useful Fastboot Commands
Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot reboot
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot boot recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash [Partition] [Image]
fastboot oem unlock [Unlock Code]
fastboot oem relock [Relock Code]
Note: Use your favorite search engine to search the above commands and learn more about them.
Part V - How To Fix Bootloops
Breaking out of bootloops depends on your device state and what kind of problem you are having. In this section, we are going to focus on the popular case where you can’t access neither the system nor the recovery partitions.
Step 1: Turn off the phone.
Step 2: Press the following buttons:
[Volume Down] + [Tap on Power Button]. You can release the power button as soon as you see the initial splash screen.
Step 3: Head to your computer and download and install the following tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
Step 4: Download the latest complete update file (B121) or (B330b) depending on which system you had installed before the bootloop problem. You can download it from:
http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/375942-roms-honor-7-stock-rom-images-updates-121115-b140/
Then, extract it and get its UPDATE.app file.
Step 5: Use the Huawei Update Extractor to extract the (BOOT.img), (SYSTEM.img), (RECOVERY.img), (CACHE.img), (CUST.img), and (USERDATA.img) from the UPDATE.app file that you have extracted from Step 4.
Step 6: Open your command prompt, and navigate to the right directory where you have extracted the image files. Use the “cd” and “..” commands to do so.
Step 7: Type the following commands and execute them one by one >
Code:
fastboot flash boot BOOT.img
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
fastboot flash cache CACHE.img
fastboot flash cust CUST.img
Step 8: You can also erase the user data if you like by typing and executing the following >
Code:
fastboot flash userdata USERDATA.img
Step 9: Reboot your device using the following command >
Code:
fastboot reboot
Step 10: You must be able to boot successfully into the system.
Step 11: After booting successfully, apply again the steps mentioned in Part I.
Important Note 1: If the "fastboot flash" is reporting "FAILED <remote: command not allowed>", you need to unlock your device again even if the bootloader is stating that your device has already been unlocked.
Important Note 2: When breaking out of bootloops or frozen splash screens, you need always to flash the right partitions that match up with the previous partitions that you had installed on your system before the occurrence of the bootloop.
Part VI - How To Change The Boot Animation
Step 1: Root Your Device.
Step 2: Create a full Nandroid backup.
Step 3: Create your own animation or download one online. Note that you need the resolution to be (1080 x 1920 pixels). It should not last more than 10-12 seconds at most.
Step 5: Your animation files must be compressed and renamed as: “bootanimation.zip”.
Step 6: Change the permissions of your .zip file to (rw-r-r).
Step 7' - (In case you are running Android 5.x): Navigate to /Cust/Preinstalled/Public/Media and backup the original “bootanimation.zip” file somewhere safe on your hard drive or sdcard.
Step 7'' - (In case you are running Android 6.x): Navigate to /system/etc/media and backup the original “bootanimation.zip” file somewhere safe on your hard drive or sdcard.
Step 8' - (In case you are running Android 5.x): Copy your newly created bootanimation.zip file to the directory /Cust/Preinstalled/Public/Media and replace the original file.
Step 8'' - (In case you are running Android 6.x): Copy your newly created bootanimation.zip file to the directory /system/etc/media and replace the original file.
Step 9: Reboot and check up your new boot animation.
My original post of this section is available at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63828825&postcount=2
Part VII - How To Change The Splash Screen
Requirements:
Your device must be rooted. Follow the steps in Part II in case you have not rooted your device yet.
You must have downloaded and installed the latest version of the "15 Seconds ADB Installer”.
You can find the download link at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118#post48915118
You need to make a complete backup or a nandroid backup before starting up. You can create a nandroid backup using the custom recovery of TWRP.
Steps:
Turn on your device and connect it to your computer then open the command prompt or your terminal as an administrator.
Make sure your computer can read the data on your phone and all the drivers are installed properly.
Make sure the following command is returning the name of your device:
Code:
adb devices
Save your "oeminfo" to your SDCard:
Code:
adb shell su -c "dd if=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/oeminfo of=/sdcard/oeminfo"
Download this zip file and extract it to your desktop or any location of your choice.
From your opened command prompt, navigate to the extracted zip folder that you have downloaded in Step 5. Use the "cd" command to do that.
Create your new splash screen logo as follows:
Step 1: Open your Adobe Photoshop and create a new file that has the following parameters
Width: 1080 pixels
Height: 1920 pixels
Resolution: 72 pixels/inch
Color Mode: RGB Color, 8-bit
Step 2: After creating your new image, save it as follows:
Extension: *.bmp
From the "Advanced Options", select R5 G6 B5 from the 16-bit depth options.
Save your newly created image in Step 7, in the same folder that you have extracted in Step 5.
From your command prompt, type the following command:
Code:
OEM_logo.exe oeminfo your_logo.bmp
Replace "your_logo.bmp" with the name of your logo.
The above command will create a new oeminfo for you that has your new logo. It will also replace the old one in the same folder.
Copy your newly created oeminfo to your sdcard by typing the following command:
Code:
adb push oeminfo /sdcard/oeminfo
Copy your oeminfo from your sdcard to the right partition on your device:
Code:
adb shell su -c "dd bs=32768 if=/sdcard/oeminfo of=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/oeminfo"
Reboot your device and check the new splash screen.

Awesome and very helpful guide @kenshiwara
Thank you for this guide.
If I understand, we can update if twrp is installed?
Envoyé de mon Nexus 5
No offence but this is just @piskr 's thread re-typed with some serious errors added to it.
Did you try "fastboot oem relock"? I started a thread on that, it doesn't work.
Did you try any of the "fastboot erase" commands? As when I tried it wouldn't - "Command not allowed"
The Huawei extract tool doesn't get the names of the images on the current full ROMS (tested on B121 and a few of the Chinese ROMS) it doesn't have the mappings for these. However it has worked with incremental patches..
Extracting the files and only flashing a few like system will leave you with and inconsistent device (if from different versions). Those 20+ files have a reason - modem, sensorhub, trustfirmware, teeos (whatever that is!), etc.. There are actually something like 40 block devices on the H7 (/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/). To run an official update on that system would almost certainly result in failure. (I have tried)
..and flashing a whole system doesn't fix a boot-loop. That's flashing the whole system, it goes away because whatever was causing it has been deleted/wiped. If that's the idea, better off flashing Huawei's recovery and doing a full UPDATE.APP of B100 / B121 and moving up.
Oh and just one more minor thing - holding the power button isn't required, turn the phone on and hold either down (with usb data connected) for boot-loader, or up for recovery
Sorry... I know you mean well, however posting things in good faith is dangerous. Especially in a guide aimed at beginners.

Thank you for your comments and notes. It is great to see your contribution up there.
This was actually my personal guide that i wrote to help myself around while operating on this device (PLK-L01). Based on your comments, there are several sections that require fixing. Would you mind taking the time to re-write those sections in a step-by-step fashion in order to update the guide?
You disagree with the section of "How to fix the bootloop when you can't access neither the system nor the recovery partitions". My solution - which worked for me - was to erase and flash the main partitions. Still though, if you have a better method, please share it with the whole community in a step-by-step fashion. Everyone will be grateful.
We mainly need the following:
1. How to re-lock the phone if the command of "fastboot oem relock" is not working on some models?
2. How to break out of bootloops if we can't access the system or the recovery partitions? (and flashing the main partitions from fastboot is not a stable solution in your opinion).
If you can provide a detailed step-by-step guides addressing the above two points, i would surely be more than happy to update them in the guide. Please note that the above guide is mostly tested on PLK-L01. Please, always mention your model number when writing your notes.
Thanks again for sharing your results with the community and hope you can send us a better version on the above sections based on your findings.

TWRP is not required at all if you are just updating. You should root your device after applying all the updates rather than before.
Thank you for comment!

LOL, yeah, some people or developers would have taken it as angry rant but we all are here to learn and help each other.
OK, well I also have an EU PLK-L01 with unlocked bootloader. I re-tested the following today to confirm my initial findings:
fastboot oem get-bootinfo
Code:
...
[COLOR="Green"][B](bootloader) unlocked[/B][/COLOR]
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.000s
fastboot erase system
Code:
erasing 'system'...
[COLOR="Red"][B]FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)[/B][/COLOR]
finished. total time: 0.000s
fastboot erase userdata
Code:
erasing 'userdata'...
[COLOR="Red"][B]FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)[/B][/COLOR]
finished. total time: 0.000s
fastboot -w
Code:
Erase successful, but not automatically formatting.
[B]Can't determine partition type.[/B]
[COLOR="Red"][B]FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)[/B][/COLOR]
Erase successful, but not automatically formatting.

[COLOR="Red"][B]FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)[/B][/COLOR]

This was the same for any of the B1xx firmwares.

Hi there beautiful people.
I'm getting some error updating after installing tw recovery.
Code:
Checking MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
file_getprop: failed to start
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/external_sd/dload/update.zip
E:Error installing zip file '/external_sd/dload/update.zip
Now backupping, i'm going to try to flash the zip (i'ts a stupid thing?).
Edit: Did not work either. Cannot update using twrp; the update app reboots directly in the custom recovery.
Currently on B121, it already had it. PLK-L01 europe.
Also, do you really think Haweii will public codes? I'm not so optimistic.

If that update.zip is from Huawei it won't work in TWRP.
You need Huawei recovery to install Huawei updates.

Indeed, it sounds pretty logic. So i should revert the stock recovery, update and then reinstall twrp.
Can I do it simply pushing trough adb? And where should I find the recovery.img?
Thanks for the help.

You have to extract them from the UPDATE.APP file!
I've done the work for you.. B121 recovery attached
Unizp, then
Code:
fastboot flash recovery B121_recovery.img
(like you did with twrp)
Then put TWRP back on.
I forgot to add - if the system partition is altered (su) then the official update may well fail..

I was downloading the full rom myself, but my internet speed is so slow. My savior, thank you. I hope to not bother you again with my low-tier noob problems.
BLU R1-HD bootloader unlock script tool, and TWRP install tool.
Download is a zip file, unpack it to somewhere you will remember. Run the dirty-cow-tool.bat // mtk-su-tool.bat
The included files and folders are set to hidden, in effort to keep them safe from accidental delete.
Must have adb+fastboot + drivers installed and setup prior to using tool
Easiest method to install adb + fastboot on windows is with "15 second adb + fastboot install TOOL"
LINK==>ADB+FASTBOOT
It is for windows
In linux :
"sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb"
"sudo apt-get install android-tools-fastboot" Some fastboot commands were missing when i used this one ie "fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability"
"sudo apt-get install fastboot" worked better when I tried. ( i used that command as a check before doing the unlock, so it was needed only for that check)
Using Tool
On Windows?
Unzip the downloaded file to a new folder, open new
folder and click on "dirty-cow-tool.bat". // "mtk-su-tool.bat"
Do the steps in order (1-2-3-4) to be unlocked, then
Step (5) to get to second page where step (1) is root
The rest is optional
On Linux?
Unzip downloaded file to new folder folder .
Open folder. Then open R1-Linux-tool-v2 folder
Open terminal from that folder and type
" . R1-HD-TOOL.sh "
Same order of steps (1,2,3,4) step (5) for extra
Steps (1 on second menu) for superSU root.
Second menu steps (2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are optional.
**Linux Note**
The tool uses "fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability" as one of the methods to check before doing the unlock.
The version of fastboot that installed with "apt-get install android-tools-fastboot" did not recognize
this command. But "apt-get install fastboot" updated some version and then the command was recognized.
******OTHER NOTES****
--- this has been mentioned in the general thread and the modified v17 thread, but It has come up again so I wanted to make note of it.----
--- The newest blu versions (V7.4.2 and V17) Have made changes to "toolbox" and this effects things like "adaway" and "titanium backup"
--- The suggested fix is to install busy-box. I have had success with the version from play store, some prefer to use f-droid version. Either one will do. Install it and open the app. From in the app you need to do an install.
CHANGE LOG
V1:. Initial release : removed
V2:. : fixed typos preventing proper function
V3:.: switch file verification to md5 check instead of "ls-l" comparison.
V4: current version: add extras page, add SU flash, de-bloat script, Added Fm Radio, Added pre-loader roll back
V5: Fixed wrong loop "goto" line that made preloader rollback do "MTK_BLU Debloat v2" instead
V6: Added manual pause to script for mods that need recovery (Extra's 5) . Added redundent recovery flash command .
Few reports of recovery "not Sticking" and needed to run the flash commands manually one by one. Maybe the redundent
flash will make it survive. If still having problem with recovery "staying install" try manually flashing
here is link to the steps needed. FLASH RECOVERY
V7 Improved logs Added line to make batch run as sub-process so if error occurs , will not close
V7.1 : Updated the fm radio install zip and include the needed selinux mode changer app
V8: fixed dependency of needing to be unzipped to location w/o spaces in name. (when used from location with spaces, tool used to fail to push needed files).
.. added more time to allow dirtycow to "spawn" its root shell. Recent testing has shown sometimes it takes longer than the 60 seconds allowed in the script. Now it is looped 3 times.
V9 Added full path to abd push lines for recovery flash files. included fastboot.exe file to address some version issue where user s version would not output text file I coded into script for a verification ( included file is called by script, no need to do anything different with it)
V10: Moved zip file to included folder to help preserve locations when unpacked, added device check before running tool; So tool not used on wrong device, Rearranged order of operations on extra's page. (recovery installed options) Push files while in android before rebooting to recovery( should improve reliability for multiple reports of not automatically installing options for some)
******I have received some reports that some devices are reporting "ro.build.product =R1_HD and not "BLU_R1_HD" like mine, so the added device check is blocking tool from starting If this happens to you , you can make edit to the .bat file like below.
Change this line
Code:
:next_check
find "BLU_R1_HD" "%~dp0workingproduct.txt"
To this
Code:
:next_check
find "R1_HD" "%~dp0workingproduct.txt"
it is line #23
V11: Updated device model verification lines

Items planed to be addressed in next release:
--Add few more file integrity checks to the extra's page
--Add copy log to clipboard option so it is easier to post log entry if needed-------*********----already-_added to github copy of batch file
--Add a verification step that checks what recovery is installed( to prevent trying to do steps on extra's page with stock recovery)
--Possibly move to a "fastboot boot recovery" instead of "adb reboot recovery" for the same reason as above
--Add wget or similar to the extra's items so initial "TOOL" size is smaller (not that 40-50MB is big, but to some it may be )
--Add additional "selinux mode changer apk" for fm radio install rather than just the note that says it needs to be found.

Works great on OEM 6.6, thanks for the tool!
So I got the one-click-root.sh done, maybe. Can some linux users go over it, make sure I didn't do anything stupid? I don't exactly have a device to check it with atm, and I am not pro with scripting, barely novice, so it is a pretty basic conversion of the batch file. Still, it might work . Just would like a few eyes on first.
https://github.com/theredbaron1834/Scripts/blob/master/one-click-root.sh
Also, I looked at dirty-cow-tool.bat. However, wow, more an advanced batch file, and I am not sure what the first half does, so not sure how to convert . However, it seems if anyone does get it, the eqiv of goto for linux is funtions. simple cheatsheet:
Code:
function stuff {
echo "this stuff is run via the function"
{
stuff #goes to stuff and runs function

thank you for your input.
As far as the begining of the batch, It is adding a few folders to the "path" variable so help ensure the "adb push" commands find the files it is trying to push. Then it sets some folder "flags" to hidden so that the files the batch needs don't get accidentally moved or changed. Then the large section with mostly "echo" that is to set up the "simulated" G.U.I.
The lines of just "::::::::::" are simply used to help with reading the batch file. i use them to seperate functions. They are not needed.
The lines with only 2 "::" are standard windows comment / remark line entries
The lines with 1 ":" are the beginning line of the loop/ function == the line that "goto *" searches for

It is supposed to. It is the same base codes used from original script, and that one was confirmed to work. I Do not have first hand use of V7.4.2 so it is only confirmed through other users.
The dirty-cow being used has been patched by google in Dec but blu has not rolled out the patch. So there is no reason for it not to work.
edit:
I have the linux version ready.
-the first step, (ADB Push) is ready. including md5 file checks
-step 2 is ready= running dirty-cow with md5 check before final writing to mmcblk device
-step 3 is ready unlocking bootloader = including check if unlock is done, but need to fix the "unlock_adility" check
I can make to file to compare and grep the line needed, but cannot "sed" the extra information or do a > < comparison
-step 4 is ready .--flash twrp
Finished 90% of tool.
still need to tweek the log feature.
I ran tests on the lop back to menu and test ran
1. push files for dirty-cow and md5 check . then made push fail to verify the check method was valid ==pass
2. run dirty cow commands and md5 verification on resulting file. ==pass
3.unlock bootloader --- I ran it (needed to fake the already unlocked check) it works == pass
4 . flash twrp --installed both version i have, both install fine ===pass
5 extra menus -- ran . install su-----debloat---rebloat--- add fm radio--- preloader roll back =====all pass
(bootloader roll back needs manual intervention to re-enter fastboot during the boot loop that is unavoidable)
6. instruction ====not written yet
7. exit yes it closes == pass
8. logs --- needs completeing
I just loaded this on my OTA updated 7.4.2 device. I would note that the batch file does not actually create the /sdcard/Download folder so you might need to go into the terminal and actually create this on your sdcard... also worth noting that this batch file **requires** an sd card in the device to do any of the loads in the "5" menu.

no it does not.
the /sdcard is the internal memory and the Download folder is already there.
you might be having issues but the folder is already part of normal system

Fair enough, my restore didn't have /sdcard/Download and I made an assumption that /sdcard was my mounted card. Thanks for the insight.
OOPS
found typo on V4 of tool. batch files sets variables for "return", from loop functions. And two returns were set to same label9, so if you had tried to do extra's menu option #8. "ROLL Back Preloader" , instead it was running option # 5. " MTK_BLU Debloat v2"
fixed and still reading and re-reading to search for errors.
This looks bad.
The reason I put together this tool was I felt it was important to make a way to minimize the problems usually associated with android modifications. By making "typo's" a thing of the past, and I found them in my own script.
re-posted V5 combined with linux V2--

Ok. After you have completed upto twrp install. You can do the options on #5. It is all programed and automatic. What is does is put zip files onto the phone and reboots phone into recovery, then recovery installs them.

I get up to the recovery installation, but then I can not access such recovery on the phone, If I turn it on with power+vol up, it takes me to the default factory recovery by blu.
And If I try to the super su step with the phone on, it resets it, and get it to the screen with the dead android, while the script just shows the ADB DETECTED message.
In case it's needed, my R1 HD is running on

You missed a step in the process.
As tool finishes the recovery install it comes to a "pause" in the script, you need to hold the volume up button on phone "before" pressing button on pc keyboard to continue.
If phone does a normal reboot at this point then the system will replace the newly installed recovery with the stock one.
Giving you the situation you have now.
This step I cannot control, you must press volume button on phone to get the boot menu, and directly boot into recovery to ensure that the install sticks.

When tool says Hold button , keep it held. Then continue the script. Phone should reboot to the boot menu. Then let go of volume
Some phones do not accept the fastboot reboot command, on those phones need to hold power to shut off. Then volume and power together to come on, release power when screen come on

it beat me!
I get stuck in that part of the process, If anyone uploads a video to check what i'm doing wrong, I'll be grateful.
This guide is primarily intended for rooted users updating to the latest security update, since stock users can just take the OTA.
Key points
User data and applications are kept intact
You do not have to remove your PIN, password, or fingerprint
You do not have to remove TWRP, Magisk, your custom kernel, dtbo, or anything
This is intended for monthly security updates; developer previews and beta releases may or may not work with this method. You're welcome to try, but all may not work as expected
Installing Update:
Make sure you have the latest Google SDK Platform Tools. Extract the archive to a location of your choosing (creates platform-tools folder)
Get the latest taimen Factory Image (not OTA) from Google's Developer Page and save to a location of your choosing
Extract the archive, and open the extracted folder. You should see a list of files:
bootloader-taimen-[version string].img
flash-all.bat
flash-all.sh
flash-base.sh
image-taimen-[version string].zip
radio-taimen-[version string]
.img
Open the flash-all script (flash-all.bat for Windows, flash-all.sh for Linux/OSX) in your favorite text editor.
Find the line that reads "fastboot -w update image-taimen-[version].zip and remove "-w" (the wipe user data switch). Save and close the flash-all script.
Move (cut and paste, etc) all of these files to the platform-tools folder.
Enable USB Debugging from the Developer Options menu on your device (press "Build Number" 7 times if not already visible)
With your device plugged into the computer, open a command prompt in the platform-tools folder
Windows: Open the folder, hold down Shift and right click inside the folder, "Open Command window here"
Linux: If you're on Linux you already know how to do this
OSX: Open a folder in a terminal
Reboot to bootloader:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Execute update script in terminal:
Windows:
Code:
flash-all.bat
Linux/OSX:
Code:
./flash-all.sh
The device will reboot a few times while updating
Restoring root and/or a custom recovery
Download latest:
TWRP image
Magisk zip
TWRP zip
(Optional) Custom kernel zip
Place all files in the platform-tools folder
Reboot to bootloader
Boot TWRP image.
Code:
fastboot boot [twrp image filename].img
Push zip files to /tmp
Code:
adb push [magisk filename].zip /tmp
Optional: TWRP persistent installation + custom kernel:
Code:
adb push [twrp filename].zip /tmp
adb push [custom kernel filename].zip /tmp
Install Magisk:
Code:
adb shell twrp install /tmp/[magisk filename].zip
Optional: TWRP persistent installation + custom kernel:
Code:
adb shell twrp install /tmp/[twrp filename].zip
adb shell twrp install /tmp/[custom kernel filename].zip
adb shell twrp install /tmp/[magisk filename].zip

Will this method work if I already have TWRP installed or is this for people who have the factory recovery? I understand that I'll have to reinstall TWRP after. I just wanna make sure that this will work with TWRP installed before I do it. Thanks for the great tutorial btw!
Update: Guide worked perfectly for me!
I would say the guide worked perfectly, but even after removing the "-w", my phone immediately proceeded to wipe all data anyway.
HOWEVER!: This may have been personal error as the first time I did the "flash-all" bat, I forgot to "unlock_critical" (perhaps you should add this to your guide as mine seemed to have reset itself). I therefore had to flash again, which may have caused a corrupted file and automatically initiated the system wipe.
Secondly, on the first boot/install of TWRP, I would not recommend flashing absolutely everything in one go as for me it borked the install of Magisk and caused me all sorts of issues with Google Play (no idea how, but it did).
I would only suggest booting to TWRP and installing that zip, then going back into recovery afterwards and then flashing your kernel, then finally flashing Magisk (may be an issue related to my kernel and Magisk overwriting each other?).
Then go back into TWRP a final time and flash Dolby/VIPER, etc...

Hey guys, I followed this today and it wiped data. I am not sure if Google has changed the flash-all.bat file, but I do recall in the past following these exact steps, opening the flash-all.bat, removing "-w" and that saving the data.
Today though, when I opened the bat for image (8.1.0 (OPM2.171019.029.B1, May 2018)) here's what it says: @Echo off

So there's no -w there by default apparently. When I didn't see it I assumed I would be alright. Not the case lol. But thankfully I had already backed up the few things that mattered so it wasn't a huge deal but nevertheless, is there something i am missing for future reference?

I'm not sure if you're confused about what I wrote so I'll recap. I edited the flashall with notepad but remember I never ended up changing anything at all because the file did not contain "-w" on first open after extraction.
So essentially, I did all the steps except when I editted the flash-all I didn't actually have to edit anything because there was no -w (I included full text as is, first open in my post). Then I continued through rest of the steps. Everything worked fine other than it did wipe use data at the very end.

I'm always confused my friend. I got it now That's pretty weird for sure. Never encountered that with all the factory images since November. Must have been a rouge download or something. I'll be on the lookout for it though in the coming months :good::good:
Can anyone confirm if this process still works on the June update?
Thanks

It worked when I flashed a device from May to Beta 2 this week, so June should still work.
My June factory flash all. bat still had the - w in it. I removed - w, saved it, ran it and worked fine. My Substratum black theme for Inbox still works as well. No data wiped at all.
If I use this method to update, is it just "dirty flashing" the device? So all my settings, apps and their data and the internal storage will remain intact? If not it's better just to flash the full OTA zip as it was suggested for me in another thread by @Badger50 ?

Either way, your data will not be wiped. Google dirty OTA's stock, non rooted folks every month ??
Windows 10. Shift, right click menu has powershell instead of cmd.exe. Powershell doesn't work well for this. Someone tipped me to typing cmd into the path window of file explorer to get the cmd prompt going. Much easier to use than that powershell stuff.

Here is a guide to root Honor 8 B521 Oreo. I did this on FRD-L09C432B521. Even if i think the "easy method" should work with other iteration of the phone (L02, L19, ...), I am not sure ramdisk is the same for all so test it if you feel lucky and please report if it works or not.
Requirements:
- Honor 8 running Oreo
- Unlocked Bootloader
- adb and fastboot installed on your computer (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/alpha-adb-fastboot-installer-windows-t3637255 (Hit the thanks button)
Long method: (should work for all honor 8)
1 -- Visit http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/ and search your exact build (FRD-L09C432B521 for me). If you have several phones listed for your build, click the name of the build on the left. This will open an xml file on the first line of which you will see the exact model it is for.
2 -- Once you know which firmware is yours, click on "filelist". This will list the files for this build and theirs url. Copy the link pointing to "update.zip" (http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G3109/g1699/v159456/f1/full/update.zip for me). Decompress it wherever you want.
3 -- Download and run Huawei Update Extractor (Hit the thanks button) . Untick "verify header checksum" in "settings" tab.
4 -- In the "extract" tab, click on "..." and select "update.app" in the previously "update.zip" decompressed folder.
5 -- Files from "update.app" should now be listed. Find "ramdisk" and right click on it. Choose "extract" and you will be able to save the file wherever you want. Copy this file on your phone.
6 -- On your phone: Go to Magisk thread (Hit the thanks button) and download the latest magisk manager. Install it. Grant permission to the manager to access your storage in phone settings > applications.
7 -- Run Magisk Manager, it will ask you if you want to install the zip. Select "Yes". It will now ask if you want to flash the zip or to patch a boot image, choose this last one. Point to the ramdisk img you previously copied on your phone. Magisk manager will now patch it and create a new "patched_boot.img" file. Copy this on your computer.
8 -- On your computer: Open a command prompt where you copied "patched_boot.img". Enter the following commands:
adb reboot bootloader (your phone will reboot in bootloader mode)
fastboot flash ramdisk patched_boot.img
fastboot reboot
9 -- Your phone will now reboot and be rooted. To unroot, repeat the process (8) with your stock ramdisk (the one extracted with Huawei Update Extractor)
Easy method
If your build is FRD-L09C432B521, FRD-L02C432B521, FRD-L04C567B520 or FRD-L09C432B562, you can use these already patched ramdisk.img.

Enter the following commands:
adb reboot bootloader (your phone will reboot in bootloader mode)
fastboot flash ramdisk patched_RAMDISKLXXBXXX.img (the exact name depends of the ramdisk you downloaded)
fastboot reboot
Your phone will now reboot
Go to Magisk thread (Hit the thanks button) and download the latest magisk manager. Install it.
You now got root. To unroot, repeat the process with stock ramdisk.

You can indeed use twrp but as it is not completely functional yet, some people don't use it. Besides, Open Kirin suggest to flash their rom with fastboot so it limits the interest of having twrp.

Hallo! Is it possible to root my FRD-L09 Honor 8 Oreo this way too? And after then can I flash/install a Stock Version with Emui 5 Android 7 Nougat and then un-root again? I need my device unrooted, because of SkyGo App (Germany) doesnt work with rootet Devices ...
If theres another way to downgrade without these operations, please let me know and maybe show me the steps for that?! Thank you so much!

Here are the steps which worked for me:
1. open this file /data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/shared_prefs/dl_prefs.xml (it only appears after first update attempt)
2. after a few lines you can find s.th. like this for example:
Code:
<string name="downloadRequest">
{"downloadRequest":
{"contentResource":"
{\"proceed\":true,\"wifiUrl\
":\"https:\\\/\\\/dlmgr.gtm.svcmot
.com\\\/dl\\\/dlws\\\/1\\\
/download\\\/Ig7qWQDh9p68jhxIGs

PGoMafEslS1aOcnWbxMUaAS2gAna
GCZgerOcTQjLUHJm1jGxmqUAatFw
%3D%3D\",\"
3. copy the URL https://...= and delete all \ between the / before open it in your browser.
ATTENTION:
The URL is only valid while your system is attempting to update your device. If you cancel the (attempt to) update, the URL is not longer valid!

I think I will not be able to access this file on un-rooted phone unless I boot to TWRP.

if I power off my Wi-Fi router and then power off my phone, will the URL remain valid for a while?
Better yet, if I cancel the download and re-attempt it, say, in 15 min, will the the URL be different or the same?
Why do you need the OTA.zip when unrooted?
Try it this way:
While your device is running and attempting to update connect it to your PC and run following command:
Code:
adb logcat | grep dlmgr > log.txt
copy the URL shown in log.txt in any browser on your PC and download the ota.zip
Don't forget to erase the \ in the shown URL if necessary.

Does it have to be a Linux PC?
On Windows PC, I am getting
'grep' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Click to collapse
Regardless, I found a download URL and downloaded "ab_delta-Blur_Version.29.291.8-29.321.13.evert.retail.en.US.zip" ( 148 MB), which updates to 116-11-11
Then, I found another URL and and downloaded "ab_delta-Blur_Version.29.321.13-29.351.21.evert.retail.en.US.zip" (86Mb), which updates to 116-11-13
II was not able to manually install the above Blurs until I re-lock the boot-loader.
So Moto becomes more and more picky and strict and not only root, but also unlocked BL and stock FW for non-matching channels is not tolerated
The download URL is present in both files:
/data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/shared_prefs/dl_prefs.xml
/data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/shared_prefs/ota_prefs.xml
To make things right:
The ota.zip contains only pieces/updates of your current FW. During the installation process the .zip overwrites targeted files of your significant partitions. If Motorola wouldn't proof these files to be stock, then the installation could lead into a bootloop or hard bricked device. Motorola's developers only know their own filestructure but not custom roms'. To avoid fatal failures of your device they have to check your system before doing any modifications. If it isn't stock then the installation will be cancelled.
BTW: There's no need to relock the bootloader. Running a stock FW meets the criteria to receive and to install a OTA update.
