That's still the same with other Mi A1 models. That's just an internal codename. All Mi A1 devices have the same ROMs/firmwares/TWRP.

it's not possible until kernel sources are released by xiaomi.
also, i highly doubt if anyone will be interested in porting oxygen os to mi a1
I bought a new MI A1 which came with the august patch. I expected it to update but no OTA upgrades were found. I used mi.com/verify/#imei_en and saw that I have a mi 5x imei with a global rom.
what is the difference between 5x with global rom and a "pure" A1?
what are the differences between an A1 that got OTA oreo vs if I flush to the latest global rom myself?
the company says there is no such thing as a global rom mi 5x. they are saying mi 5x with global rom is A1. is this true? if so why am I not getting any update?
I am a bit frustrated so thank you for the help

From what i can undersand you have an mI 5x and not the mi a1. The seeller sold you an mi 5x with the mi a1 rom on it, so no updates. for you. Sorry. I believe that you were tricked.

If I flush the rome to oreo will I get the same phone as an updated a1 but without ota?
The phone was cheaper so if everything is completely the same but without ota i will not fight the seller to return the phone and get my money back
Try getting refund!
I'm sorry but you can't "flush" your phone. You can do that to a toilet tho.
Also, from where did you bought the phone? You just bought a Mi5x with a MiA1 rom. Don't buy stuff from unreliable sources even if it's cheap.

There are many online sellers that sell mi 5x with mi a1 rom( sometimes referred to as fake ROM). Unfortunately, you can't install OTA by forcing it, or cannot use any fastboot ROM of Mi A1. If you do, your phone will definitely get hard bricked. You can head to the Mi 5x forum on XDA to find out more.

But why bro ...
it's a same hardware just OS apart them both,
same internals, same chipset , then how they differ just from UI .. ?
If you think it would work, then we would have the miui rom from mi5x to mi a1 for a long time ago.
But it's not what you think, as above says it's not identical same device, so we can't do that unless someone would like to port it.
You can try it, but make sure you have another spare phone to use because it would brick your phone.

It's pointless to explain all these to these kids. They will never understand/agree. let them learn from their mistakes.
I've used a patch to install one of the early TWRP ports which turned my MI 9T into a Redmi K20 (boot-logo and model name). Now that an official version is out I was wondering how I can revert the changes. Anyone know of any patch or changes I can do myself, so my MI 9T actually shows as a MI 9T again?
Thank you.

Mine ever since i unlocked the bootloader is start showing as K20.
I think that once it's unlock there is no mi9t logos as Xiaomi didn't made them

Wow, interesting. Of course this helped them to achieve this eye-catching price point.
So the model name is still the same?
My mi9t is still a mi9t after unlock and twrp. So xiaomi ofcourse did make the logos and eveything for mi9t and k20.
Eh, you can just flash the logo.img from the Mi 9T stock ROM. Model number depends on the ROM you're using,

Yes, you can use the patch again, or install a stock ROM to get the boot logo.
Hello,
We are using two Mi 9T smartphones.
The first Mi 9T has MIUI 12.1.1.0 (RFJEUXM) and Android 11.
The second Mi 9T has MIUI 12.0.5.0 (QFJEUXM) and Android 10.
The MIUI update function of the second Mi 9T does not find a new software update.
Is it possible to download and install the new MIUI version manually?
Will data, settings or apps be lost?
Thank you for your help.

Of course. Look for the so called Recovery (zip) firmware from xiaomifirmwareupdater.com
Find the instructions there. And google shall be your friend, too
