the march security patch is published on 20/4(sooo late) and i downloaded it. I installed it and told me update failed. what the heck. It said it recovered to original version but i can't open wifi. I rebooted into safety mode but can't open wifi. Wifi works well before failed updating. I checked my security patch level and it showed 1st of march version. Can i still get my update again and can the update fix that? what can i do now? i sent an email to ASUS.
Download the latest update from this thread, put it on your sdcard, reboot into recovery and apply the update. Hopefully that'll fix your Wi-Fi issue.
thx my phone works fine now

Ok, I flashed the 3.1 BRD rooted update from the dev forum and my xoom says I am at 3.1 and everything is working fine. Only problem now is that I keep getting the update notice that it has been downloaded and ready to install.
Is there a way to clear it? When I go to settings and update it doesn't say up to date. It keeps popping up when I reboot.
Also, if I am already on 3.1, why is the update still pushing to my xoom? I looked in the cache folder in the root directory and found what looks like the 3.1 update zip file. I deleted it but the damn ota update message keeps pestering me!!!!!!
Ive just rebooted my fire tablet after installing some minecraft mods, when I turnt it back on it came up with a promt saying it was installing the latest software or what ever it does when doing the ota, I knew this from upgrading to 5.0.1.
is it possible it was just doing what happens when normal android optimises apps on boot. is there a app to check the installed software version as im not near my pc to unhide and go in and check what firmware im on. I put this in general as it wasnt a question but just to inform that my tablet possibly had a update despite the proper steps taken to hide the ota and updates.
Saw Same Message But No Update (whew)!
For a split second I saw that same message too when first starting the Fire up. But nothing happened and nothing updated. So I think it's still blocked. Even checking for updates still fails.
So I think we're OK!

Have you tried unhiding to see the software version
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I didn't unhide it, but it says I'm still on 5.0.1. There was no update.
I saw the same thing but it didn't seem to update. I know the method i provided works for 5.0.0 to 5.0.1. Until there is a bump to 5.0.2 or whatever we don't know for sure if the "fix" works under 5.0.1.
Same thing happened to me but it was 3 days ago. I had been trying all day to install my adb drivers without success and switched off the device. When I restarted it immediately went into an update and I went into a panic that the new update would block the ability to access google play but immediately after the assumed "update" I successfully installed the adb drivers and google play without problem. I also checked the version and it still showed 5.0.1 so I wondered if my initial update on switching on the fire for the 1st time had somehow been unsuccessful and that had been what had been causing the inability to load the adb drivers although the tablet hadn't seemed to have any other problems and I had already downloaded and used several apps from Amazon.
I let it update upon first booting my Fire to 5.0.1. I was still successful in installing Google Playstore and hiding ads on lockscreen.
I'm not sure but i think that 'installing the latest software' screen is the android OS updating the dalvik runtime files after rebooting when an apk is modified. nothing to do with an ota.

That is my conclusion also.
I had this happen to me also. Considering amazon patched a root method I made sure to root and nuke any chance of a future OTA unless I wanted it too. That was a cheap move, Amazon.
I've got a stock, rooted ROM. I wasn't getting the stagefright update so I downloaded it manually and applied it. A few weeks later I finally got a OTA update notification. I can't make the notification disappear permanently. I tried to apply that update, but it reboots into recover (I've got TWRP installed) and the install fails.
How do I get the notification to go away permanently?
Thanks
i uninstalled magisk completely,
unrooted
flashed stock boot.img
relock the bootloader
but OTA giving error of "installation problem"
what to do???

I am aware of that. But i rely heavily on notifications from my apps.
Waiting for rollout to reach me.
Thanks.

Man, no offense, but do some reading. People are telling everywhere we have to wait for the next stable build from Xiaomi. The first stable build was buggy, and that is why is stopped.
Be patient, probably we will get update by the end of January, for those who already did update to Oreo, they got January security patch to fix some bugs. For now, it is better to stay on Nougat.
Watch this video to learn how you can flash the stocks ROM in order to install the OTA update , this method is also help you to overcome from the Bootloop https://youtu.be/sbkZoYs0LP0
Hi there, i searched all over the net, but all i found were older ways to do it.
Anyway, I am on 8.1 and I have a pending Pie update bugging me (restart now to update), I do not want to do it until the camera issues with gcam are completely resolved.
I have unchecked the "automatic system updates" in developer options, but the update was downloaded before that, so it keeps nagging me to update. I am afraid that if my phone reboots / runs out of battery ill end up with Pie (happened to my gf and brother). Camera means more than pie to me
I am unrooted. Tried searching internal storage for anything mentioning OTA but to no success. Can anyone help me find/delete these downloaded temp files?
Thanks,
jaka
Since we have an A/B partition device, maybe the update have already been applied. You can try to disable update app through adb using a computer, but I guess if you reboot, your device will be updated.
