Apps can't find most media on storage - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hey, I recently relocked my phones bootloader and installed the most recent official firmware.
Since then, it seems my device has two separate storages, because apps like whatsapp and google's Photos only see media inside the camera folder and whatsapp folders, if I download a video or photo it doesn't shows in these applications. Worse, if I browse to the downloads folder the file isnt even there but they show inside Chrome's downloads section.
Does anyone knows how to fix this?

[Q] Video thumbnails shown before Image thumbnails in Gallery

I just copied over my Camera directory from my Galaxy Nexus to my new N4, but when I view the Gallery on the N4, the thumbnails are grouped with all videos first, then images after. Newly taken images show up before the videos in the first slots as normal. I also tried to empty the Gallery cache and rebooted, but they are still grouped this way.
Is this just how the N4 Gallery works now? Kind of annoying to have to scroll through all of my videos to see my older pictures. Everything should just be chronological like it was on the Galaxy Nexus. My view is set to the default grid view if that matters.
Anyone else seeing this issue?
ok, I think I figured it out. For some reason I am unable to connect my GNex to my Mac using the Android File Transfer app, so I used Airdroid instead to zip the /Camera directory and download it to my Mac instead. I think Airdroid changed the timestamp on the files in doing so, and since the videos took longer to compress/download, they got stamped with the most recent timestamp.
I think the custom ROM (Liquid 412 rc7) is preventing me from connecting to my Mac normally. Looks like I have some digging to do!
Hmm, I connected to my Windows laptop and was able to copy the /Camera from the GNex fine, then back to my N4 /Camera, rebuilt the cache and still have the videos all displayed first!
Anyone else have this problem? Or know of a way to get the Gallery to list the thumbnails of images and videos based on creation date?
TIA.

AOSP 4.4 gallery issues

Having a problem with the Gallery app, it's not showing all of my pictures. New, downloaded pics will show up. But, for example, I have 21 pictures, all jpg, in an album in the Pictures folder of my internal storage and only 13 of them show up in Gallery. Cleared Gallery data and cache, rescanned sdcard manually, rebooted, still nothing.
I installed the Quickpic app, and it won't read my pictures at all. It lists them under "hidden files" and only shows up if I manually click "view hidden files" in settings every time I open the app.
I also noticed Gallery won't play .gif files. They show up as stills.
Both of these problems occur on all roms I've tried, so it's not rom specific.
Any ideas how to fix? It's really annoying me.

[Q] external sd media issue

I had some pictures on my external sd that I didn't want showing up in the gallery, so I created a "temp" folder with a .nomedia file in it, and moved those pictures into it. The gallery was working as expected, with just those pictures absent. I removed the sd card to plug into my laptop to transfer those pictures. After inserting the sd card back into the phone, my pictures don't show up in the gallery, and my music doesn't show up in the stock music player. But all the files are there when I look in es explorer. After thinking the .nomedia file was the problem, I deleted the "temp" folder previously created that had that file in it, but I still have the problem. I restarted the phone, but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try going to Settings > Applications > all applications > media storage and clearing data. Reboot and see if that solves the issue.

That actually made it WORSE (don't worry, I'm not blaming you). In any file manager (even stock), I can see that all my pictures exist where they've always been. Even the pictures from the camera. However, the gallery is COMPLETELY EMPTY. I can take new pictures, and they'll show up in the gallery. So everything before today (December 12, 2014) simply won't show up in the gallery. Wtf?
Restarting media worked for me with my image downloads to internal storage. IT WAS PISSING ME OFF. Works for now, pics that weren't showing in the gallery now do. Downloaded a few images and all have been showing. Considering the S5 was the first Samsung phone I've had since the Transform I was doing a bit of SMH when it came to this issue. Good phone so far besides that issue.

Cannot see my media in Gallery

Hi everyone. Recently I saw my battery drains due to IndexService, and when I check internet one of the suggestion was to put .nomedia file to folders where there is no media file inside, so the battery usage of service will be reduced. When I try to do it made a mistake. When I copy .nomedia file accidentally I paste it to internal storage. Directly after that I deleted it. But now in my gallery all the photos in internal storage is not there anymore. From explorer applications I can see that all photos are still okay. But cannot find what is the reason for not getting my photos in gallery. BTW, not only gallery all other apps, photo editors or social media apps cannot access to the photos as well, but only file managers. Any tip will be appreciated. Thanks
Strange, my only suggestion would be to add another photo to the folder and reboot.
Hopefully that will force an update.
Thanks for your time and help
What you suggest partly worked. Means new photo I put into the folder was seen in the gallery but not the old ones.

Photos and Videos app not working properly

Hi All
Having some issues with my Photos and Videos app.
when I open the app, I have a mix of what it looks like items from Google Drive, mixed with google photos pictures, mixed with local files plus files I had earlier in the system but don't exist anymore.
most of them are displayed as a black box, rather than a thumbnail, except for the local files.
I'm guessing some sort of a problem with the media scanner?
My idea was to clear the cache of the app, but I could not find it.
any ideas?
PS: the app doesn't seem to have any options as far as I can see to select whether i want to open local, or remote or whatever.
thanks!
