Yes, the battery just may get a little warmer. I use a 2.4A direct wall-to-usb charger on mine all the time.
As long as the voltage is the same and the battery doesn't overheat, you should be fine.

I don't see how less amps would hurt it. It may not register a charge, or charge very slowly. I would wait for another opinion.
2A will charge faster than the 1A charger. That's the only difference.

On the flip side, can I use my N7 charger to charge my mobile (SG2)?
My SG2 charger is set for 0.7A, while the N7 charger is set at 2A.
Mine charges with the USB cable i use to transfer files, which is about 500mA. Works but slow.
checking around the net, that's what it say.
the USB port have a maximum of 500mA i believe. And i did noticed it tend to charge more slowly. While the provided Asus charger with USB port on it, it have 2000mA (or 2A). So i guess the Nexus 7 is made to be able to support up to 2000mA, while it will charge more slowly when connected to a computer's USB port.
I took out my PSP and its charger recently, and this charger is also 5V, 2000mA, except it's a round tip made to fit the PSP charging port.
I do have another 2000mA charger, it also have a round tip, luckily it fit on my Ainol Elf II tablet. I got this charger/power supply when i bought my HDMI switcher, it work without it, so it was sitting there for all this time, unused.
i'm gonna try charging it with the provided Asus charger now.

Yes. Your phone will not charge at the same rate as the N7, however.

I got a Nexus 6p, it came with a common charger of the LG 5v 0.85A, with that charger it charges and shows slow charge, but it raises the percentage of the battery. now with any turbo charger that I test, the percentage of the battery decreases, I already tested with the turbo of my honor 8, with an aukey turbo, Motorola turbo of 5v 1.6A- 9v 1.6A- 12v 1.3A and all these do not charged my device. I would like to know if this is common in 6p. I am using RR in version 7.1.2.

The N6P does not support either quick charge, or turbo charge. This doesn't mean it won't charge at all, but will charge slowly. None of the chargers you mentioned will Rapid Charge your device. You need a 5V 3A USB-C charger to do that, and even some of these are not fully compliant with the USB-C standard. One rule of thumb is that if your charger or cable has a USB-A connection, your device will not ever charge over 2.1A, and in many cases much less. You need a USB-C to USB-C cable or charger to get Rapid Charge. Have a look in the N6P Accessories section where all the discussion on chargers and cables is taking place. There you will find a recommendations for the correct charger/cable. Same goes for a car charger. USB-C 5V 3A.

Thank you very much, my friend. I bought a motorola charger 5v 3a Type C and now it is loading quickly. I ordered by ebay a 6p nexus document. Meanwhile I'm using that same motorola.
I bought my phone used and never had the original charger.
Can somebody measure the maximum charging current reported by Ampere app when using OEM adapter and cable?
I recently purchased a PD capable 45w power bank and the max I see is 2590 mA, which translates into 10.6W (~=4.1V x 2.6A). (Ampere measures the current drawn on the battery, not the charging circuit)
I wonder if the original 27w charger also charges at the same rate. If so, then I would conclude that it works with less than 50% efficiency.
Am I missing sth?

I've been doing tests over the last couple weeks with an external voltage/amp tester. When using a PD charger it actually is pulling 9V 2A but the phone displays it as 5V 3A. Those are not the exact numbers because it varies as it charges from empty to full but the point is the phone cannot display 9V because it is converted from 9V to 5V inside the phone. I have never got it to reach a full 27 watt charge using many different chargers including stock the most i got was close to 18 watts. I also have 2 essential phones I have been testing and getting the same results.

Hey saw your post here, sorry for necro-ing, but my phone also shows 5v 3.41A on a 18W charger. I was worried that something was wrong but it seems that its normal.

Shame, that's exactly what I needed. Can't find it anywhere sadly.
Any power bank that offer either Quick Charge 2.0/3.0 or USB Power Delivery through USB Type C should work. The S9/S9+ will draw 1.67A @ 9V over QC and 3A @ 5V over USB-PD via Type C and therefore fast charge at 15W (which is its limit).
These should work, though I've not tried these myself.
Anker PowerCore Speed 20000mAh offers USB-PD but not QC, though the standard USB port offers 2A @ 5V, so while not fast charging it charges at 10W from the standard port (15W from the USB-PD port for the S9+).
Charmast 10400mAh Powr Bank offers both QC3 and USB-PD.
I have an Anker power bank (non-PD), and an Aukey wall charger so can recommend those brands in general terms from my personal experience.
Xiaomi 20,000 power bank supports fast charging as well on S9 plus.

I have the same powerbank and it works like a charm.
One note: you can charge the phone using quickcharge from the powerbank but you can also use the phone's charger to quickcharge the powerbank

Hey that is very weird especially since you say that your dev iui ce fast charges when it is plugged into a wall adapter. I have 2 powerbanks, one Mi Powerbank 2i 10000 mAh and the other is a Samsung Fast Wireless Charger 10000 mAh and both are capable of charging my S9+ at 15W
I use the stock 5V 1A charger and charging time is about 3 hours. Can i use a P10 lite charger that is 9V 2A? Will it damage the battery or charging hardware?

9V 2A charger won't damage the phone because it will never charge it with 9V as the phone don't support it. The charger will charge the phone with 5V 2A and this one is totally safe
So if i use a 5V 2A charger (my tablet charger), there will be an increase in charging speed?
