Note 4 Facebook notifications open new app window - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For a while now (maybe a year?), when I click a Facebook notification in my Samsung Galaxy Note 4's swipe-down notification bar, it opens a new Facebook app window rather than opening in the app instance that's already running. I've grown accustomed to simply dismissing the notifications, then switching to the Facebook app and clicking the in-app notification instead. Does anyone else have this problem, and is anyone aware of a possible fix?
My carrier is AT&T. Phone is not rooted. I even reset it to factory defaults recently, and the Facebook issue remains.

Dismissing Notifications

When I get app notifications for things like text messages or emails, entering the app directly and opening the corresponding message does not dismiss the notifications from the notification center. Is this normal behavior? I thought Lollipop did, but I could be mistaken. I either have to swipe the notification off, or click it to open the app to dismiss it.
I noticed the same, found it irritating and I got way to many notifications from all sorts of stuff, App's and OS. Eventually I disabled all notifications. The phone already makes a sound so i don't need any visuals.
I am getting the same issue, any fix/ workaround to get rid of the notifications?
In my case this seems to depend on the application. Whatsapp does this annoying thing, while Gmail and Inbox do not. I think that most apps are not yet updated properly for Marshmallow support.

Stock V20 + FB Messenger notification remaining after reading.

Has anyone else had this happen and found the fix? I can disable notifications for the app, and that eliminates it, but then I don't see that I have new messages on my second screen.

Best Texting App?

I've come to realize that my default Messaging App on my Samsung Galaxy S4 seems to be causing a lot of lags lately. (That or my keyboard).
I've tested out a few Messaging Apps (Go Pro, Texter, Google Messenger, etc) but I find they're not as good as the default S4 Messenger.
Tried Texter, which is great! But when you get a text, it shows up in your notifications, but when you swipe the notification to clear the notification bar, it counts the swipe as a read message (wtf??).
Also, unlike the default messenger, it doesn't have an unread messages on the icon. So you actually have to open the app the see if you have any unread messages.
Any fixes or suggestions for better messaging apps? Or a way to update the current default app?
It would probably be easier if you'd enumerate some features you'd want said app to have.
Those unread badges are a feature of the launcher, not the texting app. Or rather, I myself have not seen any messaging app with that feature included.
As to why it doesn't work with other apps, it's probably because the default launcher only supports the default app.
In other words, you need another launcher to have those on other apps, but most launchers offer this as a premium feature only.
Also, I believe that, for some apps, it matters which way you swipe away the notification.
e.g., Swipe right - mark as read; Swipe left - just clear it.

Update Notifications on Lock Screen

Hello,
i am using the Galaxy S8 with android 7.0
On the lock-screen i receive messages from apps like gmail when there is a new email.
When i read the new email on another device (like laptop or tablet), the lock-screen notification will not be updated --> the new email-icon still there.
Can i change a setting or something which will update the lock-screen when these notifications are read on another device?
Thx
Anybody?
I have a similar issue, the notifications will clear but with a delay of several minutes. Facebook notifications won't clear at all from the facebook app.

No Facebook notifications count after updating to Oreo

Hello,
I used to get facebook notifications count at the Facebook App , but after updatig to android oreo I don't get any notifications count above the application
Anyone having the same issue?
Up
Try to delete and reinstall the app. It might have some bugs.
Alternatively, if this is a general issue, it might be fixed with the next app update.

Click to collapse
With oreo there is now a new way notification are dealt with, badge count will only appear if you haven't swiped away the notification, as soon as you do that your badge count will disappear from icon, bit backwards of you ask me which is why I use nova prime launcher with tesla unread uncounted to get around this.
