Think my G6 may be bricked... - LG G6 Questions and Answers

I do not have a great track record when flashing ROMS etc on LG devices..
Today I decided to flash my device back to total stock in prep for the incoming Oreo update and also the dreadful battery life i've been experiencing.
I tried using LGUP first but found that once the device completed it's boot, it got to the 'Android is starting' screen before rebooting.. It did this a few times before I turned it off and booted it into download mode.
I then used LG bridge and flashed everything directly through the Bridge software - This was successful however when it boots it is now doing the same thing.
It will show the boot animation, flash very quick the 'Android is updating/booting/upgrading' white screen before rebooting, showing 'erasing' very quickly then showing the boot animation again.
What am I missing here? Why is this happening?

For some reason flashing stock bricks the phone just factory reset it though the recovery. Tell me did you succeed...

So yes, I managed to resolve this somehow.
As I managed to get into fastboot mode, reflashed TWRP and formatted the data partition - reflashing via bridge tool causes the same issue again and I only managed to get eh device to boot after I accidentally booting into safemode and allowing the device to finish optimising. Rebooting into normal mode then worked just fine.

Oh I see, sorry.. I couldn't get into stock recovery - it would simply erase the device and reboot each time. That was part of the problem..

[Q] Stuck in Bootloop with CM11

So I'm rooted with TWRP loki and had CM 11 on and running for a while. I just downloaded the latest nightly through CM OS and it asked to be rebooted.
Upon rebooting to TWRP and installing the update it then just kept on trying to reboot with the CM logo. I cannot get the power and volume keys to boot it to recovery and my computer won't recognize it in this state to boot into recovery.
Any ideas??!! Please! I don't know of any way to restore it.

I had to take the back off and manually unplug the battery to turn it off. Then I tried the button combinations posted *power and V down* when LG logo comes on repeat to get to wipe screen. However, the phone did not go to the wipe screen, it just rebooted again.
If I could get it to boot to recovery I'd be golden.

Error due to low batter. I'll have to see if I can charge it without it wanting to turn on. However, it looks promising -- after three times trying I got the utility to recognize the device at least!
Either way, I appreciate the assistance.

[SOLVED] Bootloop. No recovery. Bootloader locked.

================================
Solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...bootloader-locked-t3212187/page2#post63494201
================================
Hello,
This afternoon, I was preparing to flash Oxygen OS 2.1 through twrp but I wanted to make a backup first. Attempting to load up twrp by holding Vol- and Power, my OPT flashed the starting frame of the boot animation for half a second before turning off. This repeated every 5 seconds. I could still boot OOS normally at this stage.
I decided to reflash twrp so as to make the backups, but on attempting to flash it, I saw that my bootloader was locked. So into fastboot mode I went, but trying to unlock it, it did the same as trying to get into recovery. As soon as I sent the command, "fastboot oem unlock", the screen went dark, flashed the starting frame for the boot animation, and promptly when dark again.
I now can't boot up normally, nor can I enter recovery. I can access fastboot mode, but I can't seem to make any changes.
I've attempted to use this solution as well as several other similar ones with no success.
I've had my OPT since 17th of August with absolutely no signs of trouble until this afternoon.
To me, it seems like it could be a hardware issue, but I'd hope it would last more than 40 days.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I'm not sure what I was doing, I was going to flash different ak kernel as my wifi didn't work.
HOWEVER
I read someone suggesting if you still have bootloop after trying the qualcomm recovery tool, try booting to fastboot and use: fastboot continue
my opt booted nicely to hydrogen os and after I shut it down it no longer bootlooped and I was able to get to recovery.
I'll post this to your reddit thread too, maybe it might help somebody one day, hopefully this works for you too

Mate! that worked for me too!
However... It only seems to skip the bootloop for that power on. After power off, it returns to the boot loop. I also still can't unlock the bootloader and can't access recovery.
But at least it can boot into OS with fastboot continue!
Thank you.
Weird, after the first successful boot I rebooted and a chinese menu prompted me if I wanted to unlock the bootloader, and I did.
Maybe you should try different recovery packages.
But I'm glad to hear you at least got past the boot loop

Ahh, do you mind linking me to the one you used?
I think I used this: https://mega.nz/#!EsNQHKab!ifATzg4rxxBniPad0iyxANqlN8cZpUx2MVWaZgEhrD4
but it might have also been this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B14IjYN3PtxcSlJ5aGQxX3JERHM/view?usp=sharing
It's also worth mentioning I flashed both a few times before I tried the fastboot continue command so try both a few times and see if that helps, also I replaced the stock recovery with twrp in both recovery packages before flashing.
Edit: And best of luck, I'm rather confident your OPT is going to work properly again.
Boot Loop
I got the same problem.
Phone is rooted and i can't unlock it in cmd, just reboot itself when i try it.
The only way for me to even start the OPT is to (volume+ and power), to get to fastboot mode, then run "fastboot continue" twice in cmd.
If i reboot the phone it get cought in a boot loop where i can see the logo, reboots about every 2 sec.
Is there a solution for this? I've been searching 2 for two days now.
I don't care if i have to reset the entire phone.

I finally got my OPT working again, tried Qualcomm recovery tool, wasn't able to complete the "MSM8994DownloadTool"
So i downloaded "A2001_14_A.03_150805" in a guide from technobuzz.net/unbrick-oneplus-2/
A similar but it does a entire wipe of the phone, nothing left at all. WARNING!
But i was okey with it.
Well the phone was in Chinese when it was all done but to change language was no problem.
I finally managed to solve it on mine. I had been cautious over the past weeks to not let it run out of battery or get turned off while away from my computer as
Code:
fastboot continue
was the only way I could get past the boot loop.
My core issue to solve was that I couldn't get it recognised as the USB Diagnostic 9006 under Ports in Device Manager. I installed the driver from here manually by right clicking the /qcser/x64/qcser.inf file and selecting install from the context menu. Then, I powered off my OP2. While only holding Vol+ (not power or Vol-), I plugged in my OP2 to the computer and it was finally recognised as the 9006. Then using the recovery tool from the prior link, it installed and rebooted my OP2. The moment of truth was when it rebooted and didn't enter a boot loop!
Then with the Chinese recovery prompt, I selected the top/first option and it brought me to the welcome/first setup screen of OOS.
It wiped the internal memory, and installed OSS 2.0.2 (don't know if coincidence or not as that was my prior OS as well). Now to install twrp and update to the latest OOS hopefully without a hitch.
Happy to finally know it wasn't a hardware issue like a failed eeprom or a dud nand controller as my prior phone (Samsung Note 10.1) died to a failed nand controller as well.
Will update with news of twrp and OOS, but I feel that should go smoothly now. Thanks to the others that helped in this thread too!
Yeap, all good!
Flashed official twrp through fastboot and batch installed OOS2 through 2.1.1 patches and SuperSU. Everything working like new!
Phew.

Is it recognised as a USB Diagnostic 9006 in your device manager?
Hi GusGold No its 9008

Help! N4 in endless boot loop.

I have a Nexus 4 with the latest OTA (LMY48T) that suddenly shut down one waking morning. It couldn't boot, couldn't charge, was unresponsive. Until I tried the "Power button + Vol down for 15 sec and then plug the charger" trick. I was able to bring it to charge powered off, and I thought that was that. After an hour or so, I got a bit impatient and tried turning the phone on while charging. It booted, but only until the boot animation, and then it stopped and shut down on its own. On the off chance that I was able to boot it again, it resulted in a boot loop: boots until the boot animation, stops, restarts. At this point the phone was bootloader locked, unrooted, stock everything.
Right now, I am able to occasionally access fastboot and recovery (its behavior is no longer consistent; I have to do the charging trick mentioned above quite a few times [it now fails on occasion] before I can make the phone enter fastboot). Through fastboot, I have been able to flash different builds: 4.2.2 (JDQ39), 4.4.4 (KTU84P), 5.1.1 (LMY48M), 5.1.1 (LMY48T). But all of them resulted in the same boot loop pattern. The phone boot loops until its battery drains. Yes, I've tried clearing the cache and factory resets after flashing but to no avail. Any idea what's happening? Is this a hardware issue?
I can't make it enter HS-USB QDLoader mode through the PC, hence I can't use the LG BoardDiag method. I also wanted to use the LGNPST method, but all the links for the resources I've found are now dead. Help!
Here are some videos of the boot loop:

When you say that you flashed different builds (KK, LP), it means you are flashing the factory images by wiping everything, right?
I would have tried to flash TWRP and then would have tried to flash any MM ROM. See if that helps

I9505 bootlooping & not booting

Galaxy S4 I9505
Phone was second hand to me at the start of this year, though had been well looked after, always in a case etc
I flashed it with the newest stock ROM in January this year
I9505XXUHOJ2_I9505BTUHOJ1_I9505XXUHOJ2
& rooted with CF AutoRoot
It has worked fine until about 2 weeks ago, when it randomly shut down. After restarting, it kept bootlooping.
Left it off & charging overnight, & the next morning it booted ok. Managed to use spotify for a few hours.
Then it started bootlooping again, sometimes getting all the way but then crashing after a few minutes.
Managed to boot into recovery & do a 'wipe cache', that didnt fix it.
'Wipe data' didnt fix it
Have flashed the PIT file & ROM (via odin), no errors in odin, done it twice now
wiped cache & data
still wont boot past the white splash screen, only sometimes boots into recovery
(also, only the menu button lights up, not the back button.)
I've checked the power button (clicks & dosnt stick)
Dont think the batteries the issue (charges fine, dosnt get warm, isnt bulging)
What else could stop it booting?
Have you tried booting into safe mode?
Safe mode, from what I read, can be accessed by holding the menu button while the phone boots.
But you should also do some reading about it, in case I'm wrong.
The other idea would be to try a custom ROM.

Can't boot into safe mode
(& having read up on it, it would only not run apps that arn't already in the ROM)
Any suggestions for a custom ROM
& why would it work when the original official one won't?
Well, it's booted far enough to get into android & add a google account, then it bootloops again.
Then after leaving it off for a while, it will boot & let me look at settings etc, then bootloop
however
the menu soft key stays lit all the time after a boot
the top half of the phone, around the camera, gets very warm
Does that indicate it's a hardware issue?
Could it be the battery?
If it's the top half warming up without you doing anything, it's the motherboard.
Boot into recovery and and let it stand by, see if it reboots.

The battery can't prevent the ROM from booting. It would have to turn off during the boot, which it doesn't. So, by my logic, it isn't the battery.
Try official CM.

@pbedard Its all about timing. What I do is I take off the back cover. Then I hold the volume down button and then hold the power button. The very first LG logo that pops up only pops up for a second so that part is a pain... But as soon as you see that first LG logo, let go of the power button and press is back down as fast as you can. If it tries to boot, immediately pull the battery and try again...

Yea.. Before the Corrupted screen is a small instance of a LG logo. You have to enter TWRP through there. When it asks to factory reset, just hit yes twice.. TWRP overwrites that recovery. Its a pain in the arse to get into it.

Hold the volume down key and have a usb cable connected to your pc and then while still holding the volume down key plug the phone in.
I had to flash twrp once in fastboot. just start fastboot in the adb folder with the twrp.img and just type fastboot flash recovery twrp.img and wait. rename twrp accordingly.
