I recently bought an APTX compatible earphones and I don't know whether it's enabled or not as there's no notification saying 「You're using APTX codec」
I wanna ask is there any notification pops up when a APTX device is being connected?(I'm sure a notification will pop up when connecting APTX-HD device though)
APTX = no notification. APTX HD = notification

Can you take a screenshot of the notification? My bluetooth adapter for my car is advertised as APTX HD and I don't get a notification when I'm using it hm
I don't have a APTX HD device. The LG website says that the V20 is APTX HD compatible. Others have said that APTX alone doesn't give an icon, but APTX HD does.
If APTX HD device is connected, message will pop up saying APTX-HD device is being connected. However, it's a bit strange to hear that connecting APTX device will not get any message though.

I wonder if maybe this notification is only on the KR version
I have a non APTX Phone and a V20 and when I connect my APTX headphones to both I can tell a difference in sound quality right away. The V20 does not have any indication for APTX and that is a bit strange.

We know the Note 3 has it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455303
Has anyone been able to confirm aptX support on the Note 4?
Yes it has. Official confirmation here http://gavinsgadgets.wordpress.com/2014/11/15/does-the-samsung-note-4-have-apt-x-codec/
Hi,
how do you know if aptx is working? is the codec compatible with third party music players or just the Samsung one?
is there any way we can see if it's on using the secret codes menu?
I have yamaha rxv1073 amplifier with aptx bluetooth receiver but it sounds the same to. me with this phone and my wife older iphone.

run logcat and look for "aptx"
if it does not show some output with this text then it is not using it
you will need to catch it while connecting to the bluetooth device
How do you 'catch it' when connecting?
Should the phone indicate something about AptX?

Hi,

* aptX HD
*aptX
*SBC
By default, SBC is select, but do you have try others ? what's the best ?
Sometime, i loose the bluetooth connection in my car and i must to off/on the connection.
Thank you.

When this was brought up before: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/help/whats-to-aptx-hd-aptx-sbc-bluetooth-t3627794
tl;dr set it to aptX HD and hope it falls back gracefully when not supported. No idea why it wasn't set as default...
I don't think the Bluetooth connection issue with your car has anything to do with the codec. Mine has trouble connecting every time regardless of what is picked. It is really frustrating, so hopefully it'll improve with a future update...
Depends on which codec your headphones supports of headphones supports aptxx

If your device supports Aptx (like some High-Rez Audio headseats), go for it .
If not select SBC
Aptx HD in only for Bluetooth 5.0 devices (actually no headsets or car audio system are available on the market with this feature)

Why not just select aptX[ HD] and let the devices negotiate down if it's unsupported?
Hmm my Sony XB650BT seems to connect using aptx hd. It doesn't appear to step down, but maybe it's playing aptx but still on aptx hd? The headset lists that it is aptx.

Unfortunately no because most of the time the AD2P protocol will choose SBC as the default codec if the codec you chose (aptx or aptx hd) is not compatible/available

As far as I know this is true and matches my experiences bouncing between aptX in my car and my non aptx Bose qc 25..

Hi everyone,
Android O brings bluetooth audio codec option that includes AptX. Does 625 actually support AptX? Is there a way to verify this? I have an AptX ready headset, it isn't fancy by any means, but I intend to make use of the feature. It's probably gimmicky but let's give it a shot.

This is screenshot of connected devices in action.
@sanctitude:
Which app does the notification about runnig "BT aptx codec" on your screen shot come from? How can i show that on my device?
You can find it on developer option, scroll down to bluetooth section where you can select your codec
Thanks, santitude!
I know about the "developer option" for the general setting of apt-x for BT but this is not the same thing as your screen shot.
Your screen-shot above is apparently a notification about the "running" codec, being actually used at the moment of playing music through BT.
On my device on LOS 15.1 i do not see a notification as on your screen shot, but this is exactly what i'm looking for.
I'm on stock Oreo, the notification just showed up during playback using aptX headset, it's probably OS related or behaviour. Anyone using LOS, please clarify
Has anyone successfully connected aptx?
I never managed to successfully connect to aptx. I browsed some forums and it seems there are no indications that it connects.
I have a homespot receiver, and it shows a green light if aptx is activated. My Sony phone works (green light shows), but not v20 (no green light).

I have the T-Mobile H918 and I've successfully connected to 2 or 3 different devices using the aptx protocol. 2 we're headsets and the 3rd is my car stereo and none had any indications such as lights or whatever that the aptx was being used so I had to use Catlog to see. There is another thread somewhere on here with 2 people (Sprint and att model if I recall) having issues with aptx as well so perhaps it's related
We really have to wait for Oreo to really know whether APTX is used or not
I'm using my Sony MDR-1000xm2 with AptX HD right now. My Sony App also says that AptX HD is enabled and I got a notification as well. Sound is awesome. Works flawlessly. Stock Nougat Rom. No root.
See attachments. With oreo we also should get the LDAC codec right with the system. It is definitely using the AptX codex because if I'm using another equalizer settings AptXHD will be disabled. Even if I'm not changing the settings a lot the sound difference is a lot. So in pretty sure that the v20 is using AptX and AptX HD
in Developer settings you can choose LDAC and Aptx HD, but when you connect headphones they only use Aptx. why? Software problem?
Or the headphones only can work on aptx.

How is your Bluetooth range? I recently just tried it on my Bt speaker/headphones and the range is bad. If I put it in my pocket or cover my phone with my hand, the music gets choppy right away even if I'm right next to the headphones. Also, I can't even get my bt smart lock to work with it, it just doesn't connect.
try with another player? like poweramp ?
