in fact, everything you need to know is in those two places.
friendly reminder that no one will help you if you cannot help yourself. you will have questions and problems sure, but most of them will already have been answered if you already search
By the way, wrong section! This thread belongs in guide, news, discussion, the Q&A forum. Be careful! And keep this in mind next time This forum is only for dev releases, like ROMs and kernels
I thought we told you not to post here if you had questions.
It's in the Q&A section now but I think it was in the wrong subforum originally.

Recently I got into flashing my phone to custom roms. I have asked many many stupid questions over the past few days, and always the XDA community is there to answer my questions in a friendly and helpful way. This forum is easily one of the most mature and best forums on the internet. So I just wanted to say thanks!
I take this as a chance to Thank this forum as well
Most of my questions I had with my first android I could answer with this forum_database, the tutorials and/or the answers already given to questions.
Thumbs UP for this community!
I´m a proud member of it!

I can now run any combo of kernel and bootloader without sod.
But the minute I turn on wifi and put to sleep, she is back to sleep of death. That is it works with wifi, "forgot ", and if I do a fresh flash and don't turn on wifi it will wake up fine. Only tried on ics bootloader and kernels.
Full data wipe including data/media and reflash rom u should be golden after that

And posting this in the correct thread/forum also helps a lot
Please Post new threads in the Dev forum, only when they concern new development code. Not personal observations. Those belong in either the appropriate Dev thread, or in the General forum. Not as a new Thread.
Example: Your post could have been posted in either the Rom thread (you currently use), or the Bootloader thread. Maybe even a kernel thread.
Keep the threads clean baby! It's nice to take a part in reporting things, and we appreciate it. But, we have to keep things in order.
Now, I have to put a request to move your post.
Lets try posting in the correct sub-forum next time. Kthxbye.

Hello Community,
I hope you all are doing fine
I'm pretty much new to everything and so far all I have learnt is HOW can I root my phone lol..
I'm thinking to install Jelly Sandwich on my Xperia Arc S but dont know which Kernel will be best...
What are your suggestions ? Also How can I install a kernel ?
Looking forward to hear your thoughts
Regards
Welcome to xda.
First, I would suggest the FXP ROM (CM 10) to you. I'm using it since I have an Arc S. It works pretty well and they keep updating it very often.
Next, I'm using the Fusion-Kernel. You flash it with flashtool.
Enter the fastboot mode, select the boot.img and wait until flashtool says that it is done.
Did you unlocked your bootloader? Because if you do not do this, then you can not flash a custom kernel.
Sorry for my Bad english.
Greetings, Cartman.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Firstly all questions belong in the relevant Q&A section for your device. Secondly best ROM and kernel threads aren't encouraged as everyone has their own opinion and what's best for one person can be the worst for others. For that reason the thread is closed, just try them out yourself and decide what fits your needs.
Thanks

As a spiritual successor to the Moto G3, will there be some decent custom ROM , Kernel and mod development for this device? Especially its coming to more countries like India and Canada.

Since I have the device, you will get TWRP, official CM, and probably my "Squid Kernel". With that, it should be easy for others to bring other custom ROMs and kernels.

Oh my goodness. Thank you for making my day squid2...wouldn't thought YOU were be the one to reply! Does your kernel/ROM have CAF support?
CM13 Coming Soon
Still needs some work but it will get there in the coming weeks.
Hi, does anyone know of any work being done to get LineageOS 14.1 (or equivalent) working on the i9500 (S4 International non-LTE) ? If so can you please provide some download links ?
I've seen plenty of posts for 'jfltexx' but the reality is that the i9500 isn't included in that bunch since it is not based on a Qcom chipset.
Any insight/help would be appreciated...
Besides the fact you didn't search the forum to see if your question was answered before you posted, there is one big issue that stops everyone stone cold in their tracks. No one on the forums here has an I9500, and they cannot build a ROM for a device they don't have. So, just to repeat what I have told to others on this same forum, if you want a custom Android 7.x ROM for your I9500 two things have to happen.
1. You have to find a developer willing to make a ROM.
2. You have to provide that developer with an I9500 to develop on.
The JDC Team may be willing to create an I9500 version of LineageOS, but you're going to have to purchase a second I9500 to send to them in order for the work to even be attempted.
