I have a XT1625 running stock Nougat and have not been able to receive text messages without clearing cache/data in the messaging app.
-Using the stock Android Messages app.
-Best date I can pinpoint when this started is March 30.
-Phone was unrooted when the problem first started. Have tried a factory reset, and also unlocked the bootloader and rooted with Superuser at the same time. Also Elemental kernel.
-I got a new SIM card yesterday from Verizon, and it did not affect the issue.
-Software version is NPJS25.93-14.7-5.
The only thing that seems to work is uninstalling all updates from the Messages app and not allowing it to update. And I'm not confident that I have been testing this theory long enough to be sure it won't fail me.
Anyone else having this issue or know what i can do to fix it?

I am running Cyanogenmod 5.0.8 on a T-Mobile Mytouch3G (I tried upgrading twice to CM 6.0.0 but due to issues (lots of Force Quits due to running out of memory - I did not try swapping), went back to Android 2.1).
After running into the issue where creating a new folder would generate a Force Quit (ACore) message, I followed the advice here of running su -> fix_permissions which did solve that issue. However, it created the issue where the Phone Lock (i.e. slide to unlock) no longer appears. It also reset several passwords but that is manageable and also reset my Android Market list so it thinks my downloads were not installed, which was also manageable.
I have tried other lock programs (Lock 2.0, myLock) from Android Market but they don't always work.
I'd greatly appreciate suggestions on how to fix this problem.
Thank you
You can try reflashing CM without a wipe.

I tried that but ended up having lots of issues with my phone so I restored my Nandroid backup. I may try flashing it again sometime in the near future.
I encountered further problems with my phone last week, especially with no missed call messages or flashing LEDs being displayed when I missed several calls one evening.
After using multiple backup utilities (just in case) to backup all of my call logs, SMS, MMS, Applications and Data, I dropped into Nandroid last night and did a full user data wipe along with the Cache and Battery Status. (It was a good thing I had used multiple utilities as the first program I tried couldn't find my backup after the install).
I then updated to CyanogenMod 6.0.0 and Gapps-tiny 09302010 and downloaded fresh copies of my applications (moving them to the SD Card where possible) and restored my backups. After completing that, I was pleased to note that the phone lock was restored along with the missed call LED and title bar notifications.

By any chance do you have a proxy set on your APN's? Jot it down and erase it, including the port number.
If you have normal internet working - then it must be a problem APN-wise.
You can isolate it down to the hosts file, but if you use apps like Adfree or ad blocking software, then it really eliminates it down to your APN settings. For ad blocking software to work, proxy and port number must be removed. Try placing a proxy back if it's gone.
Thanks for the answer.
I have no clue what to do reading and rereading your post...
It's too technical
Update
This happens only when i press the refresh button on the widget. And only on mobile data.
Solved by wipe data.
However this wiped all sdcard contents
Really bad.
The wipe data also fixed a problem I had with delivery reports not working.
Although enabled both on stock app and gosms.
But but but...
...after some days the delivery reports again stopped working.
So please I have read one million posts about this delivery report issue.
Can you help and suggest any fixes?
Thanks
I also have the problem with the SMS delivery report.
Still don't know how to fix?
No luck no fix yet.
What device you have?
Android version?
I have gosms and mightytext apps that may be messing
Do you have any of those apps?
Only by diagnosis we may reach something
My device is N9005, stock 4.3.
I don't have GoSMS nor mightytext app, but I have installed HushSMS and also the its Xposed module.
I'm not sure if it may cause the 'SMS delivery report' problem. Tried to uninstall HushSMS and its Xposed module but the problem still persist.
I think factory reset may help (as I don't have the problem when I first bought the phone), but I don't want to factory reset
Factory reset will not help
For me it fixed it for a couple of days only
Nobody jumps into this thread
Which means that from millions of note 3 devices we are just a few with this issue ?
Most people don't have the sms delivery report enabled.
(the majority of western-world mobile users doesn't use sms altogether anymore.)
Check with your service provider, there may be a network related issue.
And does the problem also persist if after a reset you don't install any apps, particularly sms ones?

It worked after factory reset until I enabled mightytext app.
The app was restored with titanium backup but not set up yet.
After I set it up and used it then no delivery reports anymore
Coincidence? who knows
Of course I uninstalled mightytext but the delivery reports still were not working
I've been having some problems today with my phone. I've noticed that my Maps has been crashing, and I get this error message for a LOT of different apps: "Unfortunately, X (e.g. Google Play services) has stopped". I tried a restart, which does not seem to have helped. I was also getting some weird error messages about my device being corrupt (I have it encrypted). But yet I can still access it. I am running Android Version: 6.0.1. Google Vanilla Stock OS (Unrooted).
Let me know if there is anything else that I can provide to help.
Did you do any modifications (for example unlocking your bootloader) ? If you did you should just do a factory reset, if you didn't modify your phone you should try an OTA update and see if it fixes your problems, if nothing works and the problems don't stop after some time you should send your phone back to where you bought it from, never modify a phone you didn't break yourself
I recently switched from AOSPA after not being particularly impressed and went back to oxygen. However, after attempting to send a message I was unable to send one and noticed that I also am unable to receive. Phone calls and cellular data seems to work perfectly. I have flashed the proper firmware and reflashed the OS several times, but for no avail. I've also tried to clear cache l, but still no luck. I haven't been able to test the SIM card on another phone yet, but as the problem started as I switched OS I doubt that the problem lies there.
Some weird things I've noticed:
- Both Facebook and Google Messenger refuse to even attempt at sending a message, whereas textra pretends nothing is wrong
- In gsam battery monitor the phone line is greyed out
- Right after boot a message saying there is no service appears, but disappears fairly quickly.
Thanks in advance!
And this is after clean flash? Also without trying to restore any data using Titanium backup or other?
Clean flash, but I did use titanium backup. Guess that could be the cause. Seems like I'll have to do another clean flash anyway.
So I looked everywhere but I can't seem to find an answer. My Google searches take me to iPhone threads.
I wanted to update my N6P with the new October security patch so before attempting to flash the OTA I made a nandroid with twrp 3.0.2-2. After flashing the new OTA I was having trouble with updating apps through Play Store. I tried to find the problem to no avail until I remembered installing one of those ToolBox Apps to manage my startup apps. I figured that could be it so I got rid of it. It seem to work afterwards but since I had reset some other system apps before this, it wasn't working well, very laggy so I decided to restore my Backup via twrp.
The issue:
After restoring Backup via twrp 3.0.2-2, everything seemed normal until I received a text message this morning. The problem basically is that I can send texts find to anyone of my contacts but whenever they respond, the phone shows the message through another contacts phone number / text thread.
If I am texting for instance Adam and he responds, I receive his text in John's text thread... I don't know what could possibly fix this. Can someone give me guidance on how to pinpoint the problem and or a fix?
thanks so much
Sorry about blabbering so much I assumed a detail description would help the helper..
Just clear the app data on the application. You'll lose all your old texts though. I'm not sure what causes this but it happens to me too
