I flashed March Update with MiFlash Clean all and Lock but I'm able to unlock the bootloader again with the developer settings disabled, that is a big security risk because someone with physical access to the device will be able to unlock the bootloader without permission and maybe decrypt personal data.
I have also noticed similar behavior recently. Great that issue is not specific to me only. Bad it exists.

Hi,
coming from nexus world, I discovered that my usual workflow doesn't work. On Nexus I would lock the bootloader after any software update for extra security and unlock it before more updates via BootUnlocker app. Now loosing the ability to unlock the BL without wipe is not that big a deal since I am proficient with TitaniumBackup, so it's just an extra step setting it all up after any updated.
But, I'm surprised that the fastboot will not allow locking the BL with modified software.
Is there a known method to do this?

So a mate of mine found an A5 recently without any identification on it. Thought he might as well keep it himself else it'll just be useless.
Problem is the phone's stuck in the initial setup so he asked me to unlock it. My plan was to install TWRP, wipe everything completely and flash the firmware again. I can't get to the settings to access the OEM unlock though. Is there any way to unlock the bootloader and/or get TWRP on there so I can completely wipe the phone?

Once I've bootloader unlocked, before installing any other OS, can I deny all of the permissions about my personal data I gave to MIUI in order to get permission to unlock it - or will it lock the bootloader again?
When I switch to another OS, will MIUI have access to my data (for example, my email)? What about my location and other things?

No, they will not lock the bootloader again until you lock using mi flash tool(pc app), and the permission s you given got nothing to do with your personal data.

If so, would I begin with flashing back to stock firmware then disabling OEM unlock in developer options or following different steps? I certainly want to avoid bricking the device. I've searched for a solution but can't seem to find anything. Thanks!

You need to download the latest stock firmware either from Samsung or Sammobile and use Odin to flash it. DO NOT DISABLE OEM!!!! That has nothing to do with locking the bootloader. Flashing the stock ROM will do that. The OEM enable only disables the FRP lock which makes you login with the same google account used BEFORE a factory reset. If you are sure you know that account login and password, the FRP lock isn't a problem.
edit: The problem with the FRP lock is that people will often create a new google account login and password when first setting up their tablet. And because you only have to do that once, they tend to forget one or the other. Then, if they do a factory reset without the OEM enabled, they are locked out of the tablet.

No, but it does "lock" the tablet from getting OTA updates.
I have reflashed the stock firmware however I'm still receiving the following message during boot..."The bootloader is unlocked and the software on this device cannot be verified". Is there a way to remove this message? I am planning to return the device and I want to reset everything. Thanks!
Hi all. I have been searching high and low for information on this specific question:
Will activating an unlocked Pixel 3a on Verizon disable the OEM Unlock and bootloader unlock capability?
I got a Verizon variant before I realized that there was not way to unlock the bootloader. Bummer. So, I returned it for an Unlocked version from Google, which I just received tonight. I breezed through the setup (without the SIM card) and noticed that OEM Unlock was disabled stating I needed to connect to the internet. So, I enabled WiFi and the OEM Unlock was then available. It would seem that I an now able to follow the unlocking procedure.
My goal is to unlock the bootloader and root, but do I have to do it immediately? My concern is that activating the phone with my Verizon SIM could:
1) Prevent unlocking the bootloader in the future if I don't unlock it before I activate with SIM (research seems to indicate that factory resets will undo disabling OEM Unlock if this can happen if I understand correctly)
2) Re-lock an unlocked bootloader - maybe this is not even possible?
I don't want to mess this up. All the info I am finding are discussions related to trying to unlock a Verizon variant and I cannot find good info on what happens to bootloader unlocking options on unlocked phones that are activated on Verizon. The only reason I may want to delay this process is because I dont have a lot of time at the moment and would rather not rush the bootloader unlock and root process. However, my HTC 10 is in bad shape and need a phone to get through the holidays. I was hoping that I could activate it on Verizon now, use it with its locked bootloader for a few weeks, and when things cool down after the holidays, implement the bootloader unlock and root.
If that is not advisable, what about unlocking the bootloader immediately (doesn't seem too hard and I have used ADB before), and activating without root. Then root later? Any possibility of concern #2?
Can OTA's re-lock a bootloader and prevent future unlocking?

I would advise you to unlock the bootloader asap. If you wait it will be a pain later because unlocking causes loss of data. If you don't care about that, wait as long as you like.
As far as Verizon is concerned, if the phone is unlocked, I don't see how they could possibly lock the bootloader. They may restrict your services but they can't touch the lock status of a device you purchased.
