I had my phone charged last night and it died before i woke up in the morning. Now i just finished my charge almost 1 hour and 20 minutes ago, and its already 90 percent. And i have nothing but gtalk running, and a fresh install. Is this possible its a battery problem?
Did you check your battery use in the settings menu under phone status? It breaks down what used all your charge. If you already hooked it up and charged it full, it might be too late to tell since it wipes the last charge's results off.
Keep an eye on that and see if there is something in that list killing your battery more than normal. If everything in there looks ok, it's possible your battery is bad.

That seems normal.
Maybe you have the problem where an SMS is received and the screen stay on? Some people were reporting that problem in another thread. That would definitely kill your battery if you received a message sometime during the night.
I'm at:
Display: 52% 37min
Cell Standby 15% 3hr
Beautiful Widgets 13%
Phone Idle 13% 2hr20min
Bah that sucks, is there a fix for that sms thing? I havent seem it once yet. So basically 10 percent in 2 hours of no use is normal? I thought this phone could be on idle for days. eh.

Sorry, I missed the part where you stated the battery is at 89%...
My phone, on the first charge, lasted 28 hours with moderate to heavy usage. It should last a lot longer if it's just in standby.
Do you think i should go tomorrow to get my battery replaced?

How long have you had your phone? I'd give it a few days of fully charging/discharging to break in the battery and go from there. But the phone should definitely last you at least all day with moderate use.
I have had it since the night of the 18th. Well i mean i can try that, but it feels like its not the case. I dont know... bah

Of course it doesn't talk about the 30minutes of Wifi, the 30 or so minutes of watching some videos. Nor does it address surfing the net for around 60minutes and various emails through out the day.
Uptime 17:26:38
Battery 32%
Last night around this same time I had around 20%.
So it does seem to be improving a bit. Of course I wont know until tomorrow's usage.
I unplugged it around 6am and now its 11:37pm. So its lasting as long as I have so far. When I hit the sack I'll plug it in and go for it again tomorrow. As long as it has power when I go to bed then we will get a long just fine.

Remove widgets, lower your brightness, turn off GPS, turn off WiFi, set your notifications to a later time, and close unused running programs and see if that helps.
Personally if I'm below 75% and I have access to a charger, I just keep it plugged in to charge.
I had a fresh reinstall last night, and i lost 32 percent battery from 11pm to 10am without using the phone but for maybe 5 text messages.
I dont think this is normal...

+1.... Welcome to the inconsistencies of Android.
- Widgets off
- GPS in the task bar on. It only fires it up when it needs it anyways
- Screen Brightness I don't know I think its set to around 17-25% or so
- I turn off all that haptic feedback nonsense
- 3G off
- Wifi off
- Regular background
- I'm not running exchange or anything fancy that constantly looks for email, good old Gmail.
At least thats what I have my phone set up for. "What do you mean you don't have 3G on. Edge is so slow" Yeah its so useful when your phone is laying there doing nothing.
Same i have all that crap turned off. But i get bad battery times. Im thinking of returning and getting my battery replaced today. It wont hurt
Install Battery Graph and see how fast your battery drains at certain time intervals. You can probably tell if it's an app or not causing the problem if you see a big drop in a short time interval.
I was having the same issues for the first three day however I spent A LOT of time playing and tweaking as this is my first Andriod... I would unplug it at 6am and by 8am (with little to no use) I was down to about 65% but I was still thinking about replacing it.
I did the GPS Update and it seems to have helped a TON... Dunno what the coloration is (maybe the bad GPS signal was constantly looking and draining the battery) but it seems to really help.
Hope this helps some.
What is the GPS Update? You mean the fix in the Development section?
This is odd. On idle, it took nearly 3 hours to go from 62% to 61% which I'm very happy with. After that it started going down a bit quicker. Waking up after 7 and a half hours, the battery had gone from 49% to 42%, so about 1% per hour. While that's not so bad, why would it start to go down fast? Since it took nearly 3 hours to move 1%, I'd have thought it should be at about 46 or 47% after waking up. Is there a % threshold where the battery drains quicker?
Current uptime, mostly from idle, and power saving mode from 50%.

maybe this battery drain problem started randomly on you device after 61% ...
but you do not have this wifi sharing or manager app that drain battery..this is strange..maybe your battery needs to be calibrated
.

Thanks for your reply. Where do I find the battery calibration setting? I can only find calibration for gyrosensor and horizontal.

Do you have any apps running at all? Mine is going from 100% to 10% in ~7-8 hours with mid usage :-(
I am pretty impressed with the G2 battery especially while in use. I originally got the phone and was in awe how it would go 3 hours from full charge with still 100%. So last 2 nights wanted to see what it was like all night. It looses about 2% per hour. Not terrible but Gsam shows the phone is awake for like 7 hours. I have messed with some setting and such and I will turn off for an hour then recheck. Right now it shows it was awake for 42 minutes and off the charger for 43 minutes. Woke device 8 times with 127 wakelocks. Cache update service for 42 minutes. 2% in 45 minutes battery. So the question is, how quick does the phone go into deep sleep.

it sounds like you have the 'wakelock' problem. is it google services or android system thats taking up all the power? i have that problem on my wifi at work, for whatever reason. when im on that wifi, NLPwakelock is constantly waking my phone and keeping it from going to sleep so my battery drains quickly. if im on my wifi at home or on 4G LTE then i dont have that problem.
trying turning off wifi. if you are still having the problem, you might need to turn off location reporting and location history under google settings -> location, and access to my location under settings-> location access. see if that helps.
sometimes goes per night 1dropping down or 2 -3percent sometimes not dropping down when i lock with 75 , and next morning still 75 because i dont used the phone. example i see the battery left 7percent by 10.10pm and just lock the phone , next morning was 7percent , and just going down 1 percent per 7hours of not used the phone... but when i unplug from charger with 65percent it goes down per 8hours not used 52percent everything is OFF wifi,data.led. gps. nfc.
but when i reached to 21 percent i turned wifi always on,gps, wifi scanning, bluetooth scanning in gps settings, led notification, and nfc. after 10 hours of no usage , wifi always 10hours on, led notification 10 hours blinked when i received messenger sms,or facebook notification. its goes down just2 percent per 10 hours stand by. when reached 15percent i just turned led indicator and wifi is off gps, nfc. per 15hours of no usage goes to 12 or 13percent i dont remember , why baterry strange dropping down? but everyday discharging not the same percent down. when i got first time phone , i discharged to 10percent and after 10hours of not usage i still see the morning by 11;30a.m 10percent, not dropping any percent down
my phone old batter were drop suddenly it's charge from random amount
for example from 35% to 4%
or from 20% to 1%
any way i changed it with new battery
the new batter were at 60% so it lasted for almost day
then it drop from like 20% to 3% and it remained on 3% for like and hour or hour and half
i left it till phone shutdown and plugged charger while phone off
it charged for tow hours to 60%
then left it for 15 minutes and found it become 100% which is strange
now i've been using it for 14 minutes and still showing 100% for battery
how ti fix this and make phone calibrate the battery to show the right charge amount
i tried some apps but nothing seem to fix it

how to check that?
as you can see battery consumption isn't accurate
it remain at same level for too long then suddenly drop to low percentage
and this battery is new
what cause that?
