[Q] No EFS when IMEIs exist? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi guys.
It's looking strange for me, because I always do EFS backup before flashing custom software. I did it on my S5, Mi6, Mi Mix... And on Mi A1 EFS Backup app prompts that there's no EFS/IMEI partition!
The strangest thing is that two IMEIs exist....
Any ideas?

Efs

Is the efs swappable between devices? Say my friend back ups his efs. can i then restore his backup if we both have the vs980?
No, efs is unique to each device.

N910C cannot backup EFS

I previously had a N910F and it had an EFS backup from factory. I now have N910C and it does not have EFS backup on the phone. I tried creating a backup, but it says, "Not yet implemented" . So could this be an EXYNOS thing?

If you did a backup then you should be able to restore that backup using the same method. Eg: If you used an app, that app should be able to restore the efs folder.
The problem with the EFS folder on the latest versions of Android is that it doesn't contain the IMEI, last time I checked. The IMEI is now stored in hidden partitions, which is why when it comes to backing up this important stuff I recommend Wanam's EFS Backup tool from the Play Store. Not only does it back up the EFS folder, but also backs up those hidden partitions as well as the modem..
In this instance however, Lennyz1988 I believe has the right answer.

Which partitions?
I did backed up vendor, vendor img, system. But, it stucked on boot logo after restored it. I guess I need help with qcn file from mi mix 2s. So I can edit it with my imei number and restore using qpst.
Restore all partitions, especially modem or baseband and efs

IMEI=0 after restoring external backup

Hello, a friend had IMEI 0 and restored the efs and persist backup from another device and now he can't restore his IMEI, even after flashing lastest pie stock.
Any ideas?
Congratulations!! Flashing another persist and efs backup is the safest way to loose your IMEI.
If there's no backup of it's own (and I guess there isn't) he won't be able to restore his IMEI.
The /persist partition holds a little binary which is unique for each device. It's impossible to recreate it.
