(stable)(best) rom ? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

I am Using Resssurection Remix Rom
Tell me the best rom Out of all ??
Requirement - 8.0 above

Stock ROM are always the best so far

Always a strange question.
Flash and see for yourself.
For my use it is aex + meta kernel
There are YouTube videos about some ROMs, may this helps you to decide what's best for you.

Stock March update

I have used RR, DoT OS, LOS, AEX, Validus, and Bootleggers ROM. I found Bootleggers the most stable and customisable. (I am using it with Meta Phoenix kernel).

Pixel Experience isn't just AOSP with some little customisation, and some Pixel feature?

This is called the Paradox of choice. It is common in the GNU/Linux world with all the Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch, Open Suse and their derivatives.
There is nothing called 'the best'. If a rom satisfies your purpose, then that is the one for you.

I used PixelE, RR, Validus, DotOs, LOS, Crdroid, Cosmic,Bootleggers and AEX...
I think most stable and beautiful; AEX+ProjectK-r kernel

Tried pretty much them all, my favourite is Firehound or AOSP Extended.

How does Firehound fare against Bootleggers? Is it worth switching from Bootleggers?

I recommend AEX and meta kernel too. It's a great choice!

best is one's own opinion.
I suggest go for AEX with meta karnel or mint karnel.

RR> MIUI camera portrait mode not working and battery performance not good.
PixelEx.> Only system/system/etc file not editing (ads blocking) and i dont like Google apps and battery healty...
DotOs> only bug backlight options, custom kernels bug ? battery healty and system host not add.
LOS> Only bug battery, performance MIUI cam.
Bootleggers> i think not stable very long booting time kernels bugs ...
Cosmic> custom kernels bugs battery healty LCD screen slow...
Validus >only battery performance
And AEX ??? VERY GOOD PERFORMANCE AND BATTERY HEALTY...

Yes, aex and fh are running great with meta kernel and they're
the ROMs with most features which are running stable. Both official, ota and good for daily driver. Flashable Dolby and gcam are working on both roms.
For now aex has the advantage of having ambient gestures. If you config meta kernel the right way you're able to get a great battery life with good performance.

@coremania
I couldn't flash DolbyAtmos for some reason. How did you do it?

Will the camera quality be same as stock in aex? Even if I install ported miui cam will photos be as good as stock?

What ROM are you using and why?

Hi all! Here you can share what ROMs you use on the Moto X Play device. Why have you chosen that ROM, what's the name? And if you want link the download for other users to see! :good:
RR - Best stability, Best customistaion
XDrom, for privacy reasons
1) rr
2) krexus
3) tesla
4) xosp
all with multirom
Just for fun, I'm a flashaholic.
I use XOSP ROM at the moment as big fan of sony xperia software. Might try some of your suggestions as well though.
Custom Rom: RR the best, stability, customitation, battery life!!
Stock Rom: Epsilon v1 : stability like a stock with included squid kernel
Its so personal. I like it simple and clean. Stock or debloated roms only. Mostly i get lost in all the extra settings and menu's and realize I never gonna use and need all this extra stuff that ruins my sot and return to stock the next day.

I find that as well, although have started experimenting with those settings. I am now experimenting with the Resurrection Remix ROM. You should definitely check and experiment with the settings at some point.

Yup, its the most feature rich rom. Happy experimenting. Why i chose RR is because there are no bugs for me like the camera hdr bug or inability to store to sd card through inbuilt cam. Also its officially supported by themes.
Stock ROM with Xposed because I like the stability and battery life is good.
Cyanogenmod 13 and RR are good but their battery is really bad,im on stock and is the best.
i always end up back on stock + xposed on all phones i got .
For me the best is plain CM13. Has all the features I use and more and most roms use it as basis for varous thins like security updates.

What's the most stable custom rom today? [November]

Sorry if this is not the place, and sorry for my eng too, but I have this doubt, I've seen differents cyanogens from China and the resurrection remix, I always had cyanogen on my Moto's I dont known the RR and I dont even know what is more stable today (I have a very bad internet and my 3s come this week, cant test any rom yet, but I want to download something stable to test when 3s arrived)
On another words... What rom are U using? And why?
PD: Sign please, https://www.change.org/p/publish-the-kernel-source-for-the-xiaomi-redmi-3s-prime-3x
With this we will have true roms based on the real code of the dispositive.
Thanks!
(Sorry my eng, again!)
I currently use Resurrection Remix 5.7.4 as of now.Its stable enough to be used as daily driver, only flaw is the vedio recording but it works fine when used via footej camera.Rest everything is great.RR is actually based on Cynogenmod only ,plus some more customisations and features like split screen multitasking etc.I also used CM13 for about a fortnight, its also pretty stable.YOu can use either of it!

Any noticeable lags, battery drain?
nope..i didnt notice any in the latest builds...the previous build of cm13 did drain battery a lil bit.and previous 5.7 RR lagged a little..but again the latest one is really good.it even has october security patch
I am currently on RR 5.7.0 as my daily driver for past week or two...it's quite stable...didn't bumped into any bug...waiting for kernel release so more custom ROMs can be made.
Please make sure you signed the petition on change.org, which request the xiaomi to release the kernel sources of R3S (If you want to see more custom ROMs).
Thank u very much for ur answers! I'll try the RR 5.7.4, when my 3s arrive, and yes, I've signed the petition when we were 240 aprox!! I'll put the link on top
PD: If someone want to share his experience with one of these roms or anothers are most welcome!

Yes they do...both CM and RR have a feature called "protected apps"...it locks any app ,and you can unlock them with fingerprint. Also if you use xposed, you can try "maxlock" which is a great module and provides applock functionality with fingerprint support(i myself have tried this module).

At the moment I can only recommend this https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-11-3.35941/ which is actually a customized, well debloated and fine tuned MIUI builds. Until devs can get their hands-on quality sources officially from upstream (from Xiaomi and that's not happening yet), there is no other substitute.

Miui has bugs and problems. Currently, I'd recommend custom ROMs to only those who have problems using Miui (like me). And ported ROMs are not that bad - only VoLTE support issue, video recording problem and a little less battery backup. Everything else is fine and smoother.

For me significant reasons to replace a rom would be stability, battery life and I don't like miui look. But if I don't gain anything in battery life I just freeze most xiaomi crap including mi account and battery life management, install my normal greenify-titanium and other apps and stay at miui either developer or stable from miui-hellas. Only thing I really miss is the ability to run custom app from keys. If cyanogen could improve their battery life I think I would easily switch...

Using AOSP with radon from last 2months. Very satisfied.
Mokee is also very good and stable with good battery back-up.It has much less bugs than above mentioned roms , it supports Substratum completely and best of all u get daily incremental update.

What's the best Oreo ROM today?

By best I mean, lesser bugs. No scrolling stutter, good battery back up and etc.
I have tried Oreo ROMs before the official Oxygen Oreo comes out, now that it has been out for about a month (?). I think Oreo custom ROM has also improved. I just want your input guys. Thanks!
Also, don't include OxygenOS-based ROMs. So either AOSP or LineageOS-based.
BlackScreenOS
I've tried liquid remix, aicp, omnirom, aosip and the last come resurrection remix... Well i found that the last one is the better.. Long battery life, no lag, the rom is smooth and have all kind of personalizations
BUT i can't understand why i'm in completely mood with Oos 5.0.2 it's simply perfect imo... And i've been always the first to install a custom rom on my device
Now that substratum is working i think oos has nothing to envy at the other roms, rather it has face unlock oos cam etc... and it's for sure the smoothest rom on this phone
I haven't found one yet that fits your description. Tried DU, Screwed, Aquarios, Phoenix, Omni, Liquid Remix, AOKP and CrDroid. All have bugs, are less than smooth or both.
Best is subjective, but if you go with Codename Phoenix you won't regret!

I don't have your problems, maybe you have some apps/tweak cause this issues or simply Xposed / Module
The problem with DU is that the maintainer for this device decided to stop releasing RC builds after number two because *he has enough feedback" while other phones are getting updated DU builds. Unless you compile the source code yourself you are stuck with an outdated version of DU that is missing many of the ROMs features. I was a big fan of DU before buying an OP5 but on this phone it has never been anything but a substandard ROM. The Nougat version was buggy garbage and based on the attitude with the RC builds Oreo for the OP5 probably won't be any better.
I've only tried RR roms, lots of problems (maybe it's my fault, bad flash or idk) so I'm back to stock. I don't know why but since Oreo I can't go on custom rom, feels like they're more laggy.

When it comes to camera, Phoenix is the go! As I says OOS Cam is fully working. It's not pre-installed. Just download the latest apk from apk mirror and install it. There's a delay when starting up the camera, you will just need to wait a little bit, then everything works perfect. Even clearer picture than on OOS itself.

The best rom is the factory original, which has been adapted to the device.
you can either lower rom alternatives or make changes in the riginal rom....
+1 for Evolution X. Quick updates, fast and smooth performance, no bugs/glitches that I've experienced so far, and battery life is solid (normally about 6hr SOT over 2 days). Plus nice extra features and customization.
