only had the phone a few days so take this with a grain of salt. I have had great speaker audio and can hear the other person very well. However I've been told on a few occasions i go in and out from low volume to loud and clear. I've also had 1 call drop.

Even I faced same call quality issues with Redmi note 5 pro. Issues with all incoming and external calls. Words are flipping/chopping/breaking during the calls. I complained to technician and returned product,
Coming from LG Optimus G, everything is better!
I can hear my calls clearly, and others in the other end hear me too! The loudness is very good, even in noisy places!
Yup, I have no problems at all.
Please try only stock rom 9.5.17 which is anti 3 (before and also after version of stock rom have broken noise cancelation)
Do anyone of you live in the US?
I'm on stock, 10.0.6 in London and call quality requires that I put it on speaker. Reception is excellent, and both parties can hear clearly on speaker; it's so low without that it's inaudible.

Hi guys,
Just got my OP6 yesterday. It's really a beast.
I'm coming from iPhone 7. The microphone it's a little bit better than on iPhone 7, but on my endpoint, the sound that i get on earpiece speaker has somehow less quality. It's kind of bottomed and fuzzy. The volume it's perfect. I am using max-2 positions.
I even tested my colleagues Nexux5 and it's earpiece speaker it's somehow better.
Has anyone encountered this issue? It's a common thing or just my unit?
Please release an update that makes the sound from earpiece speaker much clear.
Thanks,
Andrei Musat
Tested on T-Mobile USA, call quality excellent.
OnePlus 6 does VoLTE and VoWiFi (IMS Wi-Fi Calling), and it uses EVS codec for HD Voice where supported.

Its a bug, you'll have to wait for a software update.

On metro PCS and same thing. HD voice is incredible. As is VoWIFI. The Earpiece could get louder, but I'm coming from a Moto x pure 2015 with dual stereo speakers that got plenty loud.
Eh...
It's a different story on my end.
The call quality is incredible when I am speaking to someone on another cell... Landline calls however, are not up to par. They are quite low on the volume. My device's in call volume is at max, and yet I hear the other caller as if the volume was only on a level of 4/10 or 5/10. This issue is the same result, regardless of who I speak to... Unless they are also on a cellphone. Is this is bug, glitch, etc? How can I fix this? Can I fix this?
Bone Stock, 5.1.8, 22_180614
For me the call quality is an unbelievable improvement over the OP5. I was constantly having calls disconnect, or people could only get my voicemail. Clarity is so good and people can hear me way better than when I used the OP5
Dealing with the issue where people frequently ask me to speak louder or that they can barely hear me. Seems to occur regardless of OOS/LOS/xxx ROMs.

Earpiece sound is fine. A little less loud as I am coming from a Moto G3 and it had an excellent earpiece volume (almost too loud lol). But this one is fine for most days.

Earpiece volume is very low
Volume + Boost
Earpiece volume can be increased even further by pressing the volume-up button after you reach the default max volume.

I have taken new M31 6GB/128GB varient and started using last week.
Call quality in this is very poor and frequently voice is cracking and not able to understand whatever other person is telling.
Other person is also complaining same issue.
Same SIM I was using earlier with other hand set without any issues.
I checked on Internet and found that many people are facing this issue.

Yah it it is a major issue whenever my mom calls me i have to clearly hear the words. The main speaker is not good enough not too loud but ok. There is no background noise but the main voice from the speaker is low as we used to talk at the time of 2g and 3g era hello hello speak loudly i can't hear. Just kidding the voice is not toooo low neither high but it is managable.
Poor call quality
Great Call Quality.
Loudness of both Earpiece and Speaker is superb.
Just little bit of disturbance occurred in 2 calls but rest were ok.
Review: 4.75/5

I would like to report that voice call quality is pretty good in both regular and speaker mode. Voice is audible, no cracking and both lines are clear without any static or weird noises. The throughput of the speaker phone is loud, crisp and very audible. It's my first time owning a xiaomi phone and I'm already spoiled! Coming from a Huawei Mate 20 pro, it's definitely an ultimate improvement since I'm always having some issues with voice calls, mostly that I cannot hear the other end too well on my previous phone.
it's fine, very clear. Not a lot to say about it
I have a problem with the ear speaker... During the call the voice of the correspondent is low, even if I increase the voice volume to the maximum
I'm on the latest miui 12.1.1 eu
